The life of Dr Chigozie Ekenze,the best graduating student at the 2016 combined convocation ceremony of Imo State University has taken a new dimension with the all academic expense, being Thirteen Million Seven Hundred Thousand Naira only has been released by His Excellency Rochas Okorocha to enable him proceed for his Post Graduate Program in London immediately.

Dr Chigozie who lost his Father shortly after gaining admission to study Optometry in Imo State University was threatened to withdraw for lack of funding as his mother's vegetable trade could not sponsor his education.

In 2011,shortly after ousting Governor Ohakim in a keen Guber contest, Owelle Rochas Okorocha declared free and compulsory education from primary to university and that would rekindle the spark of greatness in the young Doctor to soar to greatness.

Today, while receiving a cheque from Mrs UgoNneoma Rochas Okorocha Phd,containing the huge sum,the best brain went on his kneels with utter gratitude to God.He continued to sob uncontrollably for several minutes with overwhelming joy from family and friends.

Recall, Governor Okorocha had earlier granted Dr Chigozie automatic employment as Lecturer in IMSU.This is the last of the promise the Governor made to him,a promise he has kept.

Only Rochas can do this!

The workers are now owing Imo State one month work. Okorocha might pay March salary before end of February so that they will be owing the State 2 months.

It is good for the incoming government to be solving abandoned projects of his predecessors, not facing his own plans, at the end the people will say he did not do any new projects. Let me inform you, those general hospital will be abandoned for ever. Most of the uncompleted projects of Sam Mbakwe, did any governments that came after him touch them ? Go to flour mills Akabo and see what they have turned it to. Let me inform you as well, we do not need 27 general hospital in Imo State. State hospital created by Chief Udenwa is enough to serve Imo, Rochas came and destroyed it. Orlu teaching hospital brought up by Udenwa as a center of excellence, you know what Rochas did to it. With these facts given to you, do you expect any incoming government to work on unfinished tasks of Rochas. He will like to initiate new projects people will remember him for.

Stop writing thrash. The Orlu teaching hospital built by Udenwa was a kitchen line until Okorocha built most of the structures you see there today. The 27 hospitals have been completed and few remain only equipping. Here is one of the several completed hospitals for people to judge.

Hundreds of Don Wanney’s fighters, who had earlier rejected all government’s overtures to them to surrender their arms have finally done so. They surrendered their arms including explosives, rocket launchers and high-calibre rifles such as AK-47, at Heroes Square yesterday. With the rate, lands are being sold in Owerri soon there will be nothing left to accommodate the populations that are exploding. It is time property developers start building up. Penthouses and apartments like the one the pictures are what Owerri or Southeast, in general, need we are in an area that is densely populated, and we can't afford to sale all our lands and nothing will be left for agriculture.

You have a point but most investors in Owerri opt for luxury duplex instead of high-rise. Most other Igbo cities have high concentration of high-rise residential buildings than Owerri. Personally I don't like living in public house which is one of the reasons I seem to prefer Owerri than most Southeastern cities. There are areas in Owerri with highrise residential buildings like Tetlow, Douglas, Amakohia but they are considered slum and house mostly the poorer class. World Bank housing is a bungalow slum too.The lower middle class in Owerri live in well planned Ikenegbu, Aladinma, Federal housing, Uratta housing, Transegbu, Prefab etc. while upper middle class live mostly at Works, Shell camp/GRA, Various estates at Egbeada and then New Owerri where there is a mix of high class and upper middle class.

I discussed this particular issue with a friend at how amazingly Nworie River seems to divide Owerri into 2 classes of people. We also noticed that Owerri and Enugu are the 2 Igbo cities where your area of residence suggests your class. In other Igbo cities there seem to be no marked areas for the affluents aside GRA.

You're confusing different climate with better climate. I don't know why but it's how you chose to see it. The trees that grow in Enugu don't grow in Owerri. The trees that grow in Owerri don't grow in Abuja. The sketch uses carboniferous trees, which aren't native trees and would struggle to mature in the climate in Owerri. The way tropical trees from Owerri would struggle in Denmark. It's not a matter of what's better and what's worst.

Well some roads in New Owerri are lined with coniferous trees. I guess our climate supports it. Whistling pine is very common in Nigeria.

I am just appealing to him to copy Abuja model of planting trees or palm along median of major roads so ass not to repeat the mistakes of Lagos.

I know it is easy for folks to conclude that without trees and flower a place is still beautiful and habitable. However, a few months after the shiny paints are faded, you will see how ugly it will look. Trees and flowers not just give a great ambiance, it encourages people to treat the environment with some respect. We all love Abuja not just for the wide roads, but the conscious effort at landscaping with trees and flowers the way it should be done for every serious town.

Here's the prototype of Akanu Ibiam road. Work is still going on though but looks good to be completed by Easter 2018.
