That's not GRA. It's Okigwe roundabout facing Rockview and entrance to Government house. There are slums in some areas like World Bank, Douglas and Orji but Owerri is mostly a modern city by Nigerian standard.

Imo is already taking its shape. Rochas Okorocha's focus is on agriculture, tourism, real estate, education and future industrialization. The plan is open and any true citizen of Imo State that cares can key into these booming sectors.

A brand new Cargo Airport for perishables with cold room warehouses is at least 90% completed and will be the 1st in Eastern Nigeria. It cost Imo about 7billion Naira. There is a 2billion Dollar industrial park at Egbema and ongoing power plant at Egbema for the park. The park is presently stalled by lack of foreign investors though a Chinese consortium has come to inspect the area and discouraged by non-completion of the power plant.

Owerri today has excellent road network and has been so opened up and beautiful that it has stolen the show from Calabar and Port Harcourt for weekend holidays among Nigerians and recently other Africans. There is no week without one local, national, international or regional conference not holding in Owerri.

Okorocha believes in sacrificing today for tomorrow and the impact of this sacrifice may not be felt today but in the nearest future.

Whilst the statues still remain unnecessary and whilst I still believe a more substantial sum must have been pocketed in the moulding of those statues (definitely more than N500k), it still remains a fact that a lot of Nigerians are just too dumb for either generating or believing or spreading that N520million silly story.

The statues didn't even cost up to 500k but rather slightly above 400k. The fake news of 520 million was started by one AIC Akwarandu on facebook and he does dish out lies which Vanguard and Punch that has PDP correspondents would publish. Even the lie of 600m Xmas tree was from same source. This year they've perfected plans to publish that 850 million was used for Xmas decorations. Okorocha just doesn't like to engage the liars because he believes the people on ground will always know the truth.

I'm complaining about money in my mind and a handsome and physically fit middle aged man walked into my shop and first of all joked with me. then he was pouring out stories and the end result of it,he asked for 100naira and I actually just bought recharge card too and don't have much on me. I had to explain to him and he walked out. The rate at which hunger is forcing people to what they wouldn't do is alarming. this is getting extreme.
