Dear Nairalanders, Look at life as if it were a movie and you were directing. You have the power to change your life, so if you see a plot coming that you know will be stressful, say “cut!” and go in a different direction. Stress is something we all have at one time or another. We all have different ways of dealing with it and trying to relieve it. Some meditate, some go for a jog or some other form of exercise and yet others listen to music. Here are six mindful ways that you can help rid the stress from your life. 1. Be careful of how you label events in your life. If you label something as a negative event, your body will react to it as a negative thing. Take a second to really think about what you are judging the situation to be, and then look for the silver lining or good in your surroundings so that you can have a positive outlook. 2. When you make a mistake while writing, you can flip the pencil over and erase it and start over. You can do the same with your thoughts. If you have a negative or stressful thought, say the word “delete” out loud and then think of a happy thought to replace it. 3. Use your imagination when you feel stress coming on. This gives your brain a chance to escape the real world and forget about the stress. Imagine lying on a beach with a margarita in hand, and for those few moments, your brain takes itself on an imaginary journey into relaxation. 4. Look at life as if it were a movie and you were directing. You have the power to change your life, so if you see a plot coming that you know will be stressful, say “cut!” and go in a different direction. 5. Make a list of the things that you value the most in life, and then go back and read this list whenever you are feeling stressed. It will give you a chance to relax and be thankful for what you have. 6. Visit a cemetery. Yes it sounds strange, but go and think about what you are stressing over. Think if it is something that you would want to stress about from your grave. It may help you get a little clarity on the situation. Best regards. |

Honestly, there is an urgent need to review the PENSION SCHEME policies in Nigeria especially TRUSTFUND. I work with one of the new generation Banks as a contract staff, i was shock when i got my account statement and realized that i have just N25,000 and some fractions after working for close to 4 years. Imagine! Very annoying. |
Dear Ladies, here are attributes men desire in their partners, although they might not open up to you. So, read it here and be the best for him! 1.Independence and confidence Men are naturally attracted towards confident women. Remember that there is a keen difference between confidence and arrogance. Confidence attracts while arrogance repels. Men like women who can take care of themselves and can make up their mind without any help. Confident outlook, positive body language, and independent decision making are qualities that would definitely attract men. 2. Flirting back This is an important tool for the later years of the relationship. Flirting is essential to keep the romance alive. Men love women who will flirt with them. This makes a man feel wanted and makes him feel that his woman is still attracted to him. 3. Occasional show of feminine side Men prefer women who keep in touch with their feminine side. So, sometimes it is good to go for a bikini wax, or invest in new clothings and accessories! 4. Just as they are A man loves a woman who can adjust to the situation, and more so to his surroundings. Nagging is a big mood turner for men so try and avoid it. Men hate it when women want to change them or their surroundings, this can be a totally spoiler for the romance. So, accept them for what they are, and they would love you forever. 5. Honesty Honesty is a good habit to bag, whether to attract a man or not. Men search for honesty in their partner and honest answers turn them on. When a woman is honest with her man it makes him feel the special bond between them. Dishonesty is not good for any relationship, whatsoever, leave alone a romantic one. 6. Love for sports What kind of man does not enjoy his girl foul-mouthing the opponent’s team with him? This is a quality which drives most men mad and makes them fall in love with their girl. 7. Need for personal space While a woman will enjoy a lifetime of cuddling, a man will always need his own space. It is just how they were designed. A man needs his ‘me’ time or his ‘buddy’ time to re-energise. So, instead of making him feel suffocated with a constant hovering around, give him some space and spare him the smothering. 8. A smart woman A woman with brains is highly in-demand in the man’s world. Though men are visual creatures and get attracted to the ocassional ‘damsel-in- distress’; yet it is always a woman with brighter brains that will take the better man home. Sense of humour in a girl is appreciated by her man. So remember, smart is the new sexy. Now, you know some of the things that men secretly desire in their partner. So, ladies, take a few pointers and gear-up to be the ‘girl of his dreams’. |

... BIG BROTHER AFRICA REALITY SHOW: MATTERS ARISING!! So after 91 days doing of laziness, nudity and promiscuity, The Big Bother Africa reality show finally ended 25thAug, with Dilish of Namibia emerging the winner. I have had cause on several occasions to question the BENEFIT ardent followers of this show have derived from this show. For one thing, television is a very influential agent of socialization, and so bringing 28 young people from 14 African countries together to come and do NOTHING and then rewarding one of them with a huge amount, is AN EPIC way of promoting LAZINESS!! I'm strongly persuaded that the winner of the prize might not even know how to put the prize into good use. I mean, who knows if she is schooled in the art of financial management. Methinks, the sponsors of the show should have use the show to tackle one of the legions of problems facing young people today, like the perennial LACK OF INVESTMENT AND BUSINESS ACUMEN. For instance, bring these housemates together, ask them to come up with definite business proposals and the owner most promising and convincing proposal goes home with the prize for the purpose of investment. That way, it becomes a win-win situation..the housemates benefit and viewers, who are mostly young people, come out educated. I know some people might tell me that the show is just a means of entertainment. Please tell me,how does laziness, promiscuity and nudity entertain? I challenge anyone who has watched the show to tell me one good thing he has derived from the show. Presenting such a bland show for our viewership is an insult to our collective sensibilities as a people. It should be discouraged!! I rest my case!!! |

Just the other day, you people said it was MOTHER'S DAY and the social media space was updated with emotions-trigge ring updates in a dire bid to drive home the message that MOTHERS ARE THE NEXT IMPORTANT BEINGS AFTER GOD! The mothers sew and adorn themselves with exotic uniforms...got gifts from their hubbies and children. EVERYONE REJOICED WITH MOTHERS... Now you people say it's FATHER'S DAY today. I came online and so far I've seen JUST 3 updates mentioning father's day. Worst still, these updates are devoid of those carefully chosen emotions - laden adjectives. After someone will have the nerve to say "IT'S A MAN'S WORLD!!" So this is what being a father is all about? I need to brace up then!! |
