Recently I met a friend of mine along Ikeja discussing with his friend. When I got to their midst, my friend quickly introduced me as a web designer to his friend. He gave me a handshake and said, "Oh! I will like you to design my site , but I'm scared of the charges associated with website".

My response to him was simple. I told him "you mean your business don't deserved to be seen globally or nationwide? And by the way who told you websites building/maintenance is expensive"?
He was astonished by my reply.

I know many are victims of this misconception and I want to use this medium to correct such misconception.

Do you know if your current customers' base is 100, with the help of the website it can be increased to 150-200 without lifting a finger?

Tell us why you are yet to have a web presence inspite of the myriad advantages attached to it and its cheapness?

Why are you stressing yourself, tell the supplier to ship it to CVM china office and they'll help u deliver it ur address but that will cost a little xtra.

funshint: Obj might not be a saint but what he said are very valid. GEJ has been practically silent to corruption. Its gotten so worse that anytime anybody is accused of corruption, some disgruntled aides of the president will turn it into tribal war. During OBJs era a lot of heads rolled due to the anti-curruption campaign of those days starting with people from his region; S.M Afolabi(National I.D card scam), Tafa Balogun(former IG), Bode George(NPA scam), Sunday Einhdero, Chief Babalola&Femi Fani Kayode(former Ministers of Aviation)... Nobody raised alarm of tribal victimization because the Yorubas don't condole corruption even if you're the son of a king but under GEJs administration tribal sentiments has been at its peak when people are accused of corruption esp. from the SE of the country. GEJ only claims to fight corruption on paper. It's even a big dent on the president that he still has someone like Stella Oduah as a cabinet minister after the body of allegations against her. This is thesame President who didn't waste time in removing the Court of Appeal President(Justice Ayo Salami) just because he wasn't working for the interest of his party. Jonathans tenure will go down to be the most corrupt in the history of this country. How did we get here??!! I weep for this country!!!

Hmmm, is there any easy place on earth to make money. This easy mentality may keep one under perpetual poverty. I believe if you master any art, you find it easy to implement. Some people would want to go in for it now but they had never written any article for publication or on any topic. Now they'll want to go to iwriter to make money and when their articles are thrown to the trash can, they'll say iwriter isn't working.

Finally, do a SWOT analysis of yourself and know where you can fit in and maximise that environment.

I think most Nigerians take a lot of things for granted. There is a technology made available for us at a very cheap rate but we refuse to use them. I know there is a CCTV wall clock, table, wrist watches, buttons, pen, lighter, flash, etc., available @ a very cheap rate for a measure of security but my people, Nigerians wouldn't get them and use. I sold almost all these products, but I know who buys them for use. It is a pity.

@Chinedu, some come with their hosting/DNames while some don't. But whichever one, they all come with different prices. For instance, if a clients want a total package ie: domain name+hosting+design, the charge is different from a client who has existing hosting+domain name. They have different needs. also, some clients want to move their Domain names from the original registrar to mine, that is, if he/she want a different host company, all I do is to change d DNServer and direct it to mine.

The word "FREE" has some hidden cost. Free as you c cannot create economic value. So next u c free things ask urself, How do the giver get his/her rewards.

Wirinet, didn't you check http://wisdomrestorationministry.org ? Pls all those sites are not offline but they showed "Maintenance or Under Construction" page. it is not my business to publish a site when the owners said they are not ready. I know sooner or later they will launch it.

Also, I hate people arguing what they are ignorance of. I think when one doesn't know how things work, the best thing to do is to ask "HOW?" in humility. I will give u my wp blog if u request for it via Whatsapp or email, the blog is popular on d investment niche but the theme I used in designing this site isn't premium theme.

I purchase those themes at a price not less than 75$ each, they are all "Responsive". There are some that are less in price but they are not a complete theme. If you check on themeforest you will find various premium themes there but I don't use their theme for some reasons.

Since you said you have been making money installing premium wp theme sites for clients, it would have more helpful if we could actually see 1 or 2 working examples of sites you have built. But all the examples you give are offline. now why would a client pay $200 for a site and refuse to go online one full month after you upload and customize the theme? especially as you say most of your clients are desperate to have the sites.

The reason I want to see examples of your sites is because I want to see what you call premium wp themes, and how it is different from regular themes. Back to your question on trust. Honestly this is a serious matter especially when you are a Nigerian and want to make legitimate income online. To be sincere with you, I earn their trust especially in forums. I have written a time tested articles and made some positive contributions that contributed to their lives long before now. Also they've been seeing me around for a while online. But my selling point is that I will never ask anybody to send me money. Even when occasion demands, I hold my peace until they get desperate. If they don't get desperate I don't go back to them to ask.

these strategies has made them to tag me as non-Nigerian. They said I'm different. I am not trying to sell myself but I need to say this so that those Nigerians, who are sincere and trustworthy should know what to do when coming in contact with any clients.

It is a good business model if you know how to solicit for clients and is able to receive payment in Nigeria.

@Endie, the least I charge on these sites is 200$, be it an intl clients or home base. Pls note: I have always made my points clear to my clients and that's point is, I don't provide contents to their sites. But if they provide contents I help them to feature it on the site. Why I decided to work this way is because most of these owners are lazy and some of them wouldn't want to pay extra cash. While some of them said they can handle it.

So to make my work easy, I choose to just get a premium wordpress templates, install and redesign to meet their needs.

Finally, some of these owners are not ready to launch their sites yet. That's not my problems. When they feel like opening they will open.
