tony9k:
Jonathan may have lost the election but he has emerged as one of Nigeria's prime statesmen. He did what Buhari did not do in the ast elections that he lost and OBJ through his dubious 3rd term agenda. GEJ's name will be written in gold in the annals of electoral reform in Nigeria. I hope GMB will do the same in the event that he loses in 2019. We need to commend GEJ.

However the is not the first time an incumbent is conceding election in Africa. Our close neighbour Ghana did it sone years back when Koffor was defeated by less than 25,000 votes by the opposition. Ghana also showed a first when Rawlings anointed candidate was defeated by the opposition when he handed over after some 15 or so years.

God bless Nigeria
/
What GEJ did was in his best interest. If he fights the election, he may lose it all including his life. People are angry. The Northerners have been looking for excuses to strike and such would have been a convenient excuse.

With a video evidence of Patience inciting violence against agents of change, Gbagbo's treatment would not have been far fetched.

The worst fight is fighting against everyone. Just about anyone that matters locally and internationally were against GEJ especially on the issue of Chibok girls. He would have stood no chance. His advisers did a good job this time. No more committees on committees ad infinitum.

Good riddance to rubbish. Being a good man does not equate to being a good leader. This is politics. There are no permanent friends but permanent interests. If GEJ wants to appear friendly without the permanent interests of Nigerians, then he is a very bad leader. Q.E.D. Leadership is not a morality or friendship contest.

GEJ benefited a few NDeltans. That doesn't mean the NDeltans benefited from his presidency. Why the clamour for presidency? Because SS/SE erroneously believed that a son-of-the-soil would approach governance with equity considering the long noted neglect of these regions post the civil war. GEJ did not do Jack for them. I drove from Bayelsa to Benin...very disheartening!
With exception of the quasi-international airport in Enugu, there is no.evidence of federal presence in the East. It was all promises. Surprisingly the dude came back with more promises and the Igbo people unconditionally rigged for him. Beat me once, shame on you; beat me twice, shame on me. And he beat the Igbo multiple times. They kept voting him and expecting different result. Only a fool will do the same thing over and over and expect different results. Failure has no.ethnic boundaries. GEJ's presidency did not achieve anything for the SS/SE regions. As such was an effort in futility. I dare say that it is a colossal failure.
Enugu-Osha and Yenogoa-Benin expressways are pointers to GEJ's failure. Q.E.D

It is a very laudable move by GEJ.

But let's not forget that the master delivered serious warning to the participants before the election.

And with ICC waiting for any eruption of violence to drag Patience the Gbagbo way, why would any sane husband
react in such a way as to make his wife culpable? Not when there is a video evidence of her calling for the stoning of opposition members.
That was quite an inciting comment. So Patience just dodged the bullet on this one.

GEJ's concession was to protect his family's interest and nothing to do with the preservation of democracy.

But spin masters would always find ways to make things look good.

Interesting write up. But in the back of my.mind I keep contemplating on the popular saying "those who cannot do...teach".

Moving on, there are people who will not like you for no apparent reasons. If you ask a girl out and she said no...just move on.

If you really consider the cost of maintaining a girlfriend in Nigeria, then each NO you get should be God's way of reminding you to save for the rainy days.

Are there exceptions ? Of course. But exceptions are outliers.

The main people I feel sorry for:

FFK--started a good fight with his colleagues. Then betrayed them later. He lost all rounds.

Ribadu--started a good fight with his colleagues. He abandoned ship because of selfish reasons.

There is no point mentioning Okupe, Abati, Fayose, etc.

My sympathy goes to Dep. Gov of Rivers State who abandoned ship at the last minute into the dying hands of PDP.
With his case, I now believe that there are such things as "village things" else how can one explain it.

GEJ has nothing to fear until.GMB consolidates power well. That's usually when madness manifests if it will.

I.just find Patience intolerable.

Nigeria can only go up from here. One on the ground fears no fall. Nigeria has.hit the rock bottom which I think was good to create political awareness as we.just witnessed.

Our prayers henceforth should.be.never again to be saddled with the likes of GEJ and PEJ combo

Bro so you think? Don't they have younger people there?

Abeg ooo, Visit the creeks, the zeal and spirit is there.

They are quiet because they feel their man is in power.

The same way asari made his billions, same way this younger ones will want to make their own billions.

Militancy is a recurring problem as far as the naija delta is concerned.

The only thing that will solve that problem is resource control which I myself feels that every region should be allowed to manage their resources, pay their bills and develop their regions with the resources from their region.

This is the best way for speedy development as it will spark off competition for better governance among the regions.
/
Militancy will be good for the economy.
It will send oil price up temporarily. But then our major customer(USA) is not buying anymore from Nigeria because of global oil glut. So ND militants may end up using the oil to cook peppersoup.
Time is changing.

Nigeria is not an independent nation. A lot of the economic policies are being made outside the shores.

Asari and Tompolo are no longer the same. They are not getting any younger. They have seen billions and can never go back to the creeks. The spirit and zeal is dead. Money is spirit of its own. When push comes to shove, do you expect crude Nigerian military to take orders from retired Generals(IBB, OBJ, GMB) or from a bloody civilian ceremoniously addressed as C-in-C? He is only being tolerated and not respected. This is the time he should be wary of sycophants and advisers. They advised and cheered Abiola to untimely death. I love buhari as a person, and I really want him to be the next president. But my fear is the people around him- His godfather, (Tinubu), Touts arround him and others who heavily invested will feel on top of the world and turn Nigeria to business.
/
If Nigerian history is to be referenced, the godfather is always the first one to be taken down.
IBB vs Abacha, IBB vs OBJ, OBJ vs YarAdua, OBJ vs GEJ, Chime vs Chimaroke, Orji vs Kalu, Peter Obi vs Obiano, etc.

Only Tinubu knows what he uses to hold Fashola.

If GMB wins, the northern cabals will oust Tinubu. Nigeria is complicated and complex.

We wanted SS/SE president. GEJ went there and instead of using the opportunity to rebuild SE/SS, he got carried away by the allure of power. No 2nd River Niger bridge. Enugu-Osha is not motorable. Yenagoa to Benin can cause miscarriage on a pregnant woman. No empathy for victims of BH. Yet N1 billion for refreshments in Aso Rock. It is very shameful indeed.

emusmith:
Gunmen on Sunday morning attacked a centre where election results were being collated in Bauchi state.

Apart from attacking the Central Primary School in Alkaleri Local Government which was being used as a collation centre, the gunmen also attacked Alkaleri Divisional Police Station, and an INEC office.

A source at the residence of the district head of Alkaleri confirmed the attack. According to him, the gunmen came in four Hilux vehicles, shooting sporadically as residents scampered for safety and those indoors remained there.

The source said the gunmen told residents not panic. “They said they have no intention to harm anybody. After the destruction they left for Bauchi town, because they took Bauchi road,” he said.

Sunday’s attack occurred less than 24 hours after a similar attack on another part of the state during elections.

Gunmen on Saturday had stormed a polling unit in Bagurun Primary School of Darazo Local Government Area of Bauchi State, firing gunshots sporadically into the air and forcing voters to scamper for safety.

This spokesperson of the Bauchi State Police Command, Haruna Mohammed, who confirmed Saturday’s attack, said the gunmen arrived at the place in six vehicles and thereafter gathered all election materials and set some of them ablaze.

“The timely intervention of combined security forces, comprising the Police and Army, forced the suspects to abandon their mission and escape to unknown destination,” he said.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attacks although the Boko Haram had threatened to attack during elections in Northern Nigeria. There have also been reports of similar attacks in neighbouring Gombe.

All these speculations are unnecessary.

It is best to wait for the final tally to know who wins.

I heard PDP won in Ekiti state. Congratulations to PDP. Then I thought about it, Ekiti has only about 700k registered voters with
about 500k PVC collected which means their votes may be inconsequential. It will be akin to celebrating a win in Bayelsa with
about 500K PVC only collected.

My interest is in Kano, Katsina, Lagos, Rivers, Kaduna, Delta, Jigawa, Imo states. These states I mentioned have close to or more than
2 million collected PVCs.
