@ pumping, the global economic crunch will affect NSE minimally. What do you think the entrance of some foreign market players into the NSE will be? Negative or positive?
InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by invisible2(m): 10:06am On Jan 22, 2008
@question, the banks that has such investments are only two, less than 1% of the companies on our exchange.

I dont think they will cause much damage.

This is one area where it is good to be a poor nation. grin grin Let their stocks keep falling untill we go in and help them buy up some stake, we are their business friends, what are friends for anyway? grin grin grin

I have a problem here, a very easy looking problem, but may cause a big problem later. My stock broker has been double buying stocks for me. By this I mean he either knowingly or unknowingly executes my buy orders twice.

Today, I got a trade alert for 20000 units of FBN. I  had given them orders to buy last thursday, which they bought at 42.90, today they bought another 20000 units at 42.30. What do you guys suggest I do? I have not enough money in my account to cover this purchase.

Last time this same thing happened with Diamond bank, I had to put in more money to put my account in credit.

Do you ppl think this is bad, will they go on and charge me interest if I dont pay in money to credit my account?

Has anybody experienced this before?

@ blest, I feel you, lets talk stocks and leave market for market women.
InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by invisible2(m): 3:13pm On Jan 21, 2008
@blest, are you saying Nigerian are good at reading books? I have just decided to abandon my almost completed manuscript for a book I have been writing (now 130 pages)

My reason is that all around me, none of my friends have read a complete book despite my prodding. Everybody borrows my films but nobody has ever asked to také my books!

Everybody will like me to tell them of my trading strategies, but when I give them book references for further reading, they get up and say bye.

Even the internet, they never browse pages like nairaland, they prefare colored pages with more graphics than letters.

I better leave my money alone, rather than using it to publish a book that will gather dust on some book stand, with nobody to read them.

For those that own the stock, chill, things will be better later, abi when una dey rise from N8 to N15, una dey clap?

PoliticsRe: Will Nigeria Ever Get Better? by invisible2(m): 11:01pm On Jan 20, 2008
Some will always find faults with even a good thing, most of us that complain about this country just sit around doing nothing, if you contribute something, you get something. The ppl benefiting from this country started something, invested something, or discovered something.

Each of these take serious challenge and sacrifice. Even in the developed world, they face challenges in an attempt to make their country better, why cant we make ours better. There is no light, how many ppl pays their light bills? We use free power but will complain that NEPA is killing us. (we know they are thieves among them), but since you are not Ribadu, what can you do?

Be positive, positive things will start happening around you.

This reminds me of a man that wears a frown everyday he goes home to his wife and kids. The kids learnt to frown back! and whenever daddy gets home, everybody will become dumb, even if they were laughing minutes ago. (the man only laughs in the bedroom)

This went on untill his house nearly became a grave yard of silence, then he started to complain to friends.

Smile at problems, they will varnish. Lets be positive about this country, it will survive and you will be among the ppl saying I TOLD YOU SO
InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by invisible2(m): 10:37pm On Jan 20, 2008
I have been accumulating some FBN since December in readiness of its Q3 results, due any moment. If it is as good as it has always been, expect a rally, plus dont forget that the FY will be in march, so position traders will be reluctant to move out till then.

This will only make FBN even more scarce as time goes on. Dont forget sentiments will play a role here. FBN is (arguably) the best Nigerian bank. Fundamentally solid. It is a good one for the short term.

If old mutual of SA and Commerz bank of Germany settle down here, (as was speculated in the papers last week) they will add this bank to their portfolio, if they are serious about buying into Nigerian banks. This will shoot the price to the roof.

Afribank:
To buy or not to buy in the short term ?
Make una say something, before I write the cheque,

Thanks. wink
I think Afribank is a buy now, the price is dangerously low now, I want to see it fall a bit more but I am afraid it may not fall too much tomorrow, reason - it was not among the list of companies with heavy offers on the floors.

This is an indicator that the supply will soon be halted, then demand will set in and push the price up.
PoliticsRe: Will Nigeria Ever Get Better? by invisible2(m): 10:01pm On Jan 20, 2008
I have this feeling that this country will suddenly, without any prior warning, get so nice that there will be a stampede for who will rush back to Nigeria before others. There is this increasing awareness amongst ordinary Nigerians on the streets that things are changing. I see hope in peoples faces, I see teachers taking home fat salaries monthly, since the days of OBJ.

Yar adua has also made police and other forces to smile to the banks this January. Workers are starting to feel more more valued and wanted, salaries are paid in my state on 25th of every month. Job is now easier to get here. My friend just got two jobs late last year, he was called to report for work at UBA and Nig. Breweries the same day! (He attended their different interviews) It became a case of which is better, I advised him to report to NB, and he is busy working now.

I am typing this in my house (full internet connection) this was impossible few years ago. Do not even talk of investment in shares, we were the best in the world last year, (over 100% appreciation in our stock market, according to Merryl Lynch) I don hama for that side grin grin.

Nigeria will get better if you believe it will. For us that has believed since, we are reaping bountifully tongue tongue I will not leave Nigeria to go and suffer for white man in his backyard, that will be second slavery. Just let house prices crash enough in the US. I will then go in and buy a property ther with money made from Nigeria (clean money, no be stolen wealth)

We shall rule the world one day, it has started already, other things will get better as we go on.

LONG LIVE NIGERIA !!!!!!!!!!!!

PoliticsRe: Should Nigeria Split Up? by invisible2(m): 3:58pm On Jan 20, 2008
Splitting Nigeria is an old thought of the old nation.

Now, welcome a new Nigeria in the horizon, a country of opportunities, of wealth, of growth, of stability and freedom. We are going there, cause we blv in it.

We are taking positions already, meet us there if you want progress.

No element of success can come to us if we continue to think we need to break up.

Enough negative talk, také action now.

If more ppl have jobs, they will not have time to think about breaking up.
InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by invisible2(m): 3:45pm On Jan 20, 2008
@ ty_ademolu, selling those shares for that purpose at this time is not advisable. Especially GTB, if you sell now the stock may soon start an upward move.
