Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Rivers State, have shifted their battle over the credibility of the last re-run election won by Senator Magnus Abe in Rivers South East senatorial district, to the election tribunal. In separate statements, Chairman of the PDP in the state, Mr Felix Obuah and Senator Abe said they were both ready to approach the tribunal with their avalanche of evidence to support their different claims on the elections. Obuah, in a statement by his media aide, Mr Jerry Needam, alleged that military men connived with other security agencies to sway their votes to Senator Abe, expressing the hope that the tribunal would nullify Abe’s victory. “The declaration of Abe as winner in the purported election was a grave error as available records show that the military, SARS personnel and other security agencies massively rigged the election in the whole of Rivers South East senatorial district on December 10, 2016 in favour of Abe. PDP will never rest until this injustice against the people is addressed and the opportunity to have a candidate of their choice given to them as of right,” he said. Meantime, the media committee of Senator Abe in a statement by Mr Parry Benson, said the PDP knew the APC won the election clearly in the senatorial district, advising that the state government and the PDP should not waste public funds on an allegation they cannot substantiate. The statement further enjoined people of the senatorial district not to be provoked by statements of the PDP against Senator Abe, adding that the APC and Senator Abe were prepared to meet the PDP at the tribunal. It's no longer news that the southeastern part of Nigeria has been highly marginalised by the Nigerian government. In all shperes of governance. Recently, the Buhari govenment announced that it has commenced the payment of N5,000 monthly stipend to poor people in nine states. Tens of millions of Nigerians see this scheme as another venture of the looting of ou commonwealth. What caught my hawk-like eye was the facts that no eastern state was considered for the first phase implementation of this policy that is likely to end up like the reportedly looted IDPs' funds. Even the only southeastern state controlled by APC via Rochas Okorocha who is the chairman of APC governors forum, was not even given a look-in out of nine states. When it should have been one state from each geopolitical zone in the first instance. Yet "our governor, our governor" claims to have so much political clout in the president's inner caucus or "cabal" as many fondly call it. No southeasterner is head of any security agency in Nigeria yet Okorocha and his "Okechukwu" are not bothered that no Igbo security official sits on any security council seat. Our governor, where is our 'oke'? Abi have you been used and dumped by "the messiah?" anyway, this further shows that the governor is practically powerless in Buhari's regime. He is busy laundering image for himself and selling the state and region out for promises of crumb that clearly may not come from Pa Buhari. Okorocha, trumpeted how Buhari will appoint an Imolite a senior minister but trust Baba now, he made our governor look silly liar and cheap deceitful puppet when he appointed a former Vice Chancellor who also is the governor's in-law a junior minister. From the budget to appointmens, to infrastural, economic and human capital development, bot rochas and his northern master have rendered the state, region and country asinine. "APC...maka odinma Ndigbo! Huge deceit!

The General Superintendent of the Deeper Life Bible Church, Pastor William Kumuyi, on Sunday said that in 2017, God would grant President Muhammad Buhari the solution to the numerous challenges facing the country. Kumuyi gave the assurance while speaking with newsmen when he played host to the Speaker, Lagos State House of Assembly, Mr Mudashiru Obasa, who led some members of the Assembly on courtesy visit to the church’s December Convention. The cleric said, “We talk of the hours of recession, difficulty, distress and all that, but God is granting us His promises. We are not going to carry over our problems. “We pray and believe that the Lord will answer. “As you will see, as we get to the New Year, there is no carryover of our problems. God will give solutions to the problems of our lives, families, communities, the state and our nation.” The pastor said that with prayer and faith in God, the country would get out of all its challenges, including the economic recession. The founder of the church said that God created ‘’us and wants everything to be sufficient for everybody.’’ Meanwhile, addressing the congregation of thousands of worshippers, Obasa, urged all Christians to show love to their neighbours, adding that the state was committed to fight unemployment among the youth. He said that the newly created Employment Trust Fund would help reduce joblessness by providing soft loan with little interest for enterprising people of Lagos state. “We must go beyond religious demarcation and show ourselves that we are brothers and sisters. Let us love one another. We should extend hands of fellowship to our neighbours,” the speaker said. Obasa, who urged churches to pray for the state and nation, said that the state was passionate to give good governance and improve the economy of the state for the benefit of all. He expressed delight over the warmth reception accorded his team by the leadership of the church. NAN reports that the speaker the Deputy Majority Leader of the House, Mr Muyiwa Jimoh and the Chairman, House Committee on Environment, Mr Dayo Saka-Fafunmi were among the team. Mrs Funmilayo Tejuosho, the Chairman, House Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights, Petitions and Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission among others government functionaries also made the list. NAN reports that the four-day, nation-wide convention, which started on Dec. 23 and expected to end on Dec. 26, is tagged, “Power for the Present Hour”. It is taking place at the Deeper Life Conference Centre (DLCC) KM 42, Lagos/Ibadan Expressway.(NAN) http://thenationonlineng.net/god-ll-give-buhari-solution-nigerias-problem-2017-kumuyi/

Contrary to media reports alleging that President Muhammadu Buhari snubbed the recent South-East Economic and Security Summit in Enugu, below is the accurate account: The President was presented with a request to attend the Economic and Security Summit by the Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu. The President happily accepted. The visit to Enugu was scheduled for Thursday 22nd as can be found on the weekly programme. After this was done, some other stakeholders from the South East came and advised him not to go in view of the closeness of the date to Christmas; given the sensitivity of the period to the people, a presidential visit may come with overexertion and possibly, be disruptive of Christmas. In view of this, President Buhari requested that the event be pushed forward to January 2017. Given his nature, he did not insist. He said if the change of date is not possible, then the event could go on without him. That is what the organizers chose to do. The President did not, and he absolutely has no reason to snub anyone. GARBA SHEHU Senior Special Assistant to the President (Media and Publicity) December 23, 2016

According to reports which has been making rounds on social media, a Zimbabwean Prophet, Walter Magaya, allegedly sold anointed cucumbers in his church. His church members, especially the ladies, heavily patronized him. After pictures of the service emerged online, some facebook users criticized the pastor, calling him fake for selling cucumbers in the house of God. http://www.lindaikejisblog.com/2016/11/excitement-as-pastor-shares-anointed.html
