Hi all I downloaded the upgrade here http://www.hitv.com.ng/upgrade.html - Click to Download Software SRT 4653X I believe I ran the upgrade without any error, but the channels stayed the same. Has anyone solved this? Someone please give me the steps to actually get my channels back. |
yea I guess I buy my cars in twos. I agree this thread should be for strange faults but even the very obvious, could be a problem to someone out there. |
JEEP LIBERTY- 2002- SPEEDOMETER WORKING INTERMITTENTLY Recently my Liberty speedometer started working intermittently, and i noticed the doors will not lock when I drive off, the ABS light will stay on. And worst of all the engine will stall when I slow down suddenly which was very disturbing cos I had to shift to N to restart the engine while driving. My auto electrician couldn't give me the attention I needed on this one so I got on the internet to find out what the liberty speedometer sensor is made of. The speedometer sensor is installed on the rear differential and the wires were broken, cos it was rubbing against the handbrake cable. I pulled the two apart, pulled the sensor plug and replaced the plug wires myself. This got the speedometer and every related system working again. |
I believe its a good thing to share what ever troubles you have had with your car and how it was repaired. Some of the most tricky problems go away with very little solution. I have lived with two BMW 520s 1989, and 1992 for sometime now. Now I have two 2002 Jeep Liberties. a Limited edition and a sport. People say this vehicle has maintenance issues, but I think its pretty much a very interesting car to drive. Though its a fuel guzzler to the core. If you wish to post any information or question please use this format VEHICLE- YEAR AND MODEL- PROBLEM SUMMARY. QUESTION/ SOLUTION/ DETAILS Thank you. |
Does anyone own the ARCHOS 605WIFI 30GB HDD multimedia player/ recorder here? I have used the ARCHOS 404 30GB, the 605WIFI 30GB and recently Got the 605WIFI 160GB. The sad news for this gadget is that there is a high potential for the speakers to go bad and only produce unpleasant cracking sounds. I thought I was exceptionally unlucky when the speakers went bad while i was playing videos with the volume turned-up, while charging on the docking station. During charging the unit gets hot and I think along with some heat coming from the HDD and perhaps the circuitry, the factory glue on the speaker diaphragm gives way and the speaker turns into a noise generator. Recently I felt not too unlucky after all cos a friend's 605WIFI 30GB developed same problem. I managed to fix the speaker from my unit, working under a microscope because of very thin precision required. This speaker is actually about 8mm x 20mm in size and the coil, 1/2 of that. Now I am attempting to fix my friend's speaker and I hope to post photos of this repair work later. My advise to anyone who owns any of this units is, DO NOT PLAY MUSIC OR VIDEOS ON THE ARCHOS WHILE CHARGING ON THE DOCKING STATION at least not with the volume turned up more than 20% |
@KingK If your phone has a headphone jack I think plugging it into your car stereo front Aux input jack should give you pretty good volume if your car stereo has it. however if it doesnt and you want to go by the amplifier what you really need is a different kind of amplifier. However pin 2 like you see is the inverting input and is designed to be grounded. You already have a 10k pot at the amplifier input pin 3. If you desire a bit more gain you could replace it with a 50k pot but you could introduce some noise doing this. |
Abeg! Lager and peppersoup is the most selling thing today. Trust me on this one. And you can make more depending on how you package the service environment. As much as 300% turnover on a bottle of lager to same on a plate of nicely made peppersoup. |
Please, Please Nairalanders, take note. This safety and security information is also for your own good. |

So lets find a game that suits majority. Anyone interested can join. So whats your suggestion? What kind of game do we pick? Action, combat, racing? I guess to Qualify, you need to have a PS3 A copy of the game we eventually choose& A good internet connection. I'm in! |

@init4dmoni Sorry about your power pack. If you have confirmed that its a power pack you need, i.e. tested your console with another power pack, then I can give you a cheaper /temporary power pack solution. That is if you are a techie and you want to play while you wait for an xbox360 replacement power pack. Not on this forum but though, but in the Technology- Home Appliances/ Electronics And Other Repair Notes. Diy forum. |
Most of the time am PC gaming online. A-town Yes sometimes you experience the time lag, when connection speed drops. Usually it depends on the time of the day. My best hours for online gaming are the AMs, when most of the people in town are asleep, and I am probably the only one using the broadband (impossible I think!) In the day the gameplay can drive you crazy cos you play like you have a pentium2 PC, What happens basically is for Call of Duty4, I find it difficult to move from, one position to the other, I could return to my last position or cannot move as quickly as I want to, and eventually get shot. For GRID race driver, I can’t explain exactly what happens but you will find some of the cars jump from one point to the other on the track, that may mean that my connection speed is quicker or vice versa. First To Fight on PC multiplayer is smooth all the time. I always find a Good team to play cooperative mode and there is actually Good cooperation, though usually some of the bad guys out there are so so fast I have played Call of Duty4 Call of Duty 2 Joint Operations Typhoon Rising Grid Race Driver. I have never used a head set but I chat on First to Fight that is if I find time to type a message on the line of fire. I haven’t played Need for speed most wanted online because I misplaced the Booklet that came with the game and there for couldn’t enter the Game key when requested. but I found it recently. I will need to Try FARCRY2 soon. PC games are full of a lot of Crap sha! I have to retry GTA4 PS3 Metal gear Solid4 PS3 etc etc Its hard to find people on PC games because they are not as simple to set up like PS3 If you have a PS3 and a broad band connection, lets see if we can agree on Game and time online. Here are my Games GTA4 Metal Gear Solid4 Need for speed pro street Sega Rally revo formula1 Medal Of Honor Airborne Burnout Paradise Resistance (I don’t know if this has multiplayer) Or we simply Vote on a Game. I don’t know how to play soccer or fighting games, but I can do well on Adventure, Combat, and Driving etc. I can buy any Game if non in my list turn out to be popular. |
I think its the duty of business owners in Nigeria to do something about customer service. This will fix over 60% of our attitudinal problem in the society. |
This is all true and I am glad to see this thread. I wish nairaland had a 30min National radio program on specific issues, The most Intelligent ones like this one. This customer service issue is deep. deep deep!!!!!! The problem also is that Nigerians who have lived in Nigeria all along do not realise it. I am sure most of the people in this forum who get the gist have traveled out of Nigeria that is why they appreciate the Topic and how bad the situation is. Its not only customer service but the way we relate to each other day to day, on the streets, in our offices. the way we answer questions with questions all that is HOT!!! and coming from our heads and its typically a Nigerian thing. As you enter Nigeria from the airport, sea port or our boarder, you just can feel the difference of an aggressive, not ready to listen,"show him I am in charge" people. At the airport in Lagos sometime I quietly watched a man who walked in the airport building looking desperate, in a hurry and somehow confused. He was obviously trying to get a flight and maybe was afraid he had missed his flight. As an airport official walked past him he quickly drew his attention for inquiry. 1. The Airport staff though not in a hurry did not stop when the man asked "excuse me please" he kept on walking. 2. The man had to follow him to complete his question. 3. The airport staff was giving the man answers as he was still walking away. 4. He was still talking to the man as he went through the door though the man had stopped following because he realized he was going his opposite direction. In a busy restaurant complain about the size of meat and see what you get. If its mama-put she would dump all the food she already dished for you and call out "Next person!" If you no like the meat go your house. Abi u know wetin she suffer go buy the meat. My concern at this stage is, How do we fix the problem? How do we reach out to the millions of other people everyday who are being infected or slowly killed by this one single attitude of "am doing you a favor being here." I own a business in Port-Harcourt and one of our standards is good customer service. My staff are very aware of that. We try to talk with our customers, and make them just answer our questions rather than ask first. Ask them if they liked the service, that way they complain nicely. And I have my number clearly displayed everywhere to ensure that my staff will keep this standard all the time, when they realize customers will call me at once if they feel unhappy. |
That was a long time ago i tried when I only had a dial up connection. I pay 10k everymonth for my broadband connection. N10,000.00 is cheaper by the day if you go by the current exchange rate, naira to the dollar. ![]() However Nigerian broadband to me is better described as narrow band. |
zPixel I use Vangauge broadband connection. Though it slows down sometimes but they tell me its expected to support up to 80KBPs. However when I use my popular adobe internet connection speedometer, I get about 14kb/s or sometimes less. In any case it does support my gaming anyhow so I am not complaining at the moment though I will want to try something better cos am really sure 2pcs maybe on this connection will crawl online. I would say that PS3 is the friendliest console yet when connecting online. Though I have not tried Gaming in the xbox360 because I do not have a large collection of games to try, however when I did, the xbox360 didn’t jump at the connection like the PS3. The xbox360 kept trying to get on the Xbox live. While the PS3 simply detected network connection, set IP address and I started browsing or Gaming. Though you will have to register with the Playstation network first. ndividual The PS3 offers good experience online. The truth is, there is always one upgrade or the other for every game to play which makes it rather slow to connect first time. Again you must actually be playing the game most people play to find a running server or a match going on else you just Start a server and wait all day with no one to play with. I haven’t actually connected the PS3 so many times like my PC. For PC games finding servers are a lot easier , more like joining a chat room. That is easy for PCs because some folks just host games and leave the servers running continuously while others host and play . digidamage, My gamers lounge is at 23 Geodetic Road, Rumuomasi in Port Harcourt. Do you play COD4 on PC? Currently we have 1 PC that allows you single player on COD4 but we are upgrading the Super PCs to about 4 soon so we can have COD4 on LAN. However we still play the older games COD2, Joint OPS Typhoon rising, Unreal Tournament etc. on 6PCS |
I actually have a broadband connection now at home where I play COD4, Medal of Honor Airborne, GRID, etc etc on PC multiplayer. I also find the pS3 very ready to go online than my xbox360, I have played Sega Rally Revo on PS3 online, Medal of Honor Airborne etc. (just my kind of games anyway) I really do not have recent xbox 360 games. Its fun. The Guys on the COD4 are "wicked" I am also planning to bring this fun into my Game lounge soon to upgrade the Gamers experience. |
BMW is always a nice car to drive, but you should have money for maintenance(not road side mechanics)This is true. For real, maintenance is expensive no matter the model or year. I own 2 BMWs. Both are 520s and am interested in this one if you dont want to go ahead with it. ![]() I definitly wouldnt pick a 540i if I was to make a choice at a car shop, but this one has a good price, however what is the mileage? its not strange to find a BMW with a high mileage though. reason is I believe the simpler the BMW the better in time of trouble. The 540i should carry a V8 engine. One thing you should know is that, you have to stand by your BMW in time of trouble, and its certainly not a car just to drive to work and back home. Its a car built for performance. You have to desire to travel long distances and drive over 160km/ hour at will. It will do your journey at nearly half the time other cars will when in top form. If you want to experience the Ultimate Driving Machine, then GO FOR IT! |
Sometimes it might pay off to have an idea of what might be the problem with your failed appliances as you take them out for repair. Most Nigerian repair techs would rather rip you off a few nairas especially for those very small faults that they could fix in a few seconds while you wait. And also charge you a few more extra nairas than necessary for the bigger faults. These days of more and more generators especially the smaller petrol ones, problems of dead electronics or equipment using transformers for power supply are common. My Samsung 1HP window unit AC stopped working a few days ago, it actually went completely dead, nothing on the display. I had to wait up till yesterday to have the time to pull it out of the wall, wash, clean all the dusty areas and look closely at the front display panel. A small 16V 300mA transformer had lost its thermal fuse obviously due to high voltage from my 4kVA elemax petrol gen. The thermal fuse is a fuse usually built into the transformer to avoid the coil burning out due overheating from load or excess input voltage. It usually has a rating of the cut off temperature so its important to note this anytime one can be replaced. Some thermal fuses can almost be surface replaced on transformers because they are held on the coil surface with a few wraps of the finishing tape on the transformer. Some are tucked in so deep, if you are lucky you might have to cut off the terminals if you see it to wire in a replacement. The truth is that the decision to fix the thermal fuse in your transformer and the work involved has to be balanced with what kind of transformer it is and how much a locally available replacement will cost if at all available. In the case of my AC transformer, it was one of those ones where the fuse was so deep into the transformer, I had to give up. However finding a 16V transformer was just an unsuccessful bet. So I simply got a 12v transformer of the same size for replacement and my AC got working again. Most ACs with front electronic control/display panels may use this method for power supply/ standby supply. So anytime your AC goes dead and that tech tells you "Oga we go change the panel" just to make a few buck off you. tell him to check the transformer. |
There are a few small Game lounges around, usually referred to as "Game centers" I believe there may be one or two in your area. But the thing we do in ROMP is to make game play more interesting for the Gamer than just sitting at home to play before a TV set. So we encourage interactive gaming, through Multiplayer LAN games, Soccer friendly matches on PS2 because the Gamers would play the PS2 soccer all day if you let them. And we keep a continuously restocked Wide collection of adventure games. We try to put in place required accessories for Game play, like Steering wheels, other game controllers and flight controls for the PC flight simulator. And there actually is no site seeing inside the Game Arena because admittance it is fashioned like a clubhouse, you register your desired game before you get in. That way everyone in the Arena is playing and no one is distracted. Most of all, we keep track of every gamers profile and and Game save so they can keep up their game progress when next they come in especially for adventure games. |
ROMP is a gamers lounge located in Rumuomasi in Port Harcourt. Opened in 2005, ROMP has 3 major Gaming platforms, the XBOX, PS2 AND PC. We mainly encourage interactive gaming especially on our PC LAN. |
Oldham_in4 I actually do not understand your question. were you building an FM radio and you also have a transmitter? What do you mean by the transmitter being burnt. what is burnt in it? |
Recently I was having a drink and watching TV at my bar when it started to rain and then a strong bolt of lightening struck. Pop went my TV set and it came up with a white screen. It was actually set to AV at the time and I noticed that just the RF tuner would work. Nothing would come up on AV just a blank white screen. I opened up the set to look closer inside. Pretty dusty though like most CRT Tvs are inside. Nulec HCT 2142 This TV uses the LA76818A. A I2C bus controller IC that supports different TV broadcast formats. This IC is responsible for the video switching. Lucky for me I found the chip locally. Careful uninstallation and reinstalling the new chip got my TV up and working again. Chip cost N500.00 |

Lock-in-night gaming on midweek and weekends. The latest PS3 games are guaranteed to be sourced within the first week of release based on Gamers vote and ranking. We at ROMP are planning to take interactive Gaming to a whole new level in Port-harcourt. We hope that this will be a success. Experience the ROMP!!!!! |

I stumbled on a cute little chip while searching for a solution to a bad Creative inspire 5.1 surround PC speaker belonging to a friend. The TDA 7294 100V - 100W DMOS AUDIO AMPLIFIER WITH MUTE/ST-BY. Some 13 yrs ago I enjoyed using the TDA1514 chip for audio amplifier projects which was quite a success with good sound. I will build this one for the fun of it as soon as all the compos are in place. |
Yeah I guess its worth a try but you will probably be fine with bit over 12V to charge your battery, I think! |
I just got 12 yards of ethernet cable today and will be trying out the pad fixing soon. Been too busy lately no time for the DIY. The only things I have done recently is repair computers, Install windows and programs. Actually on gaming PCs. Today I had to replace one of the 2 power packs in my super PC cos I had some over voltage recently which messed up the power supply. The two main filter capacitors 200V 470uf had blown their top. But I am replacing the power pack outright. I will replace this capacitors inthe pack on a later date sibnce the power pack still working, for use in any other PC. |
