Guess the ladies are also suspecting that you might be male and they dont want to say a thing.
Ladies are less adventurous than the guys so they would not be willing to say "hi, my name is xxxxx and i think i would like to be your friend"

Do not be disappointed they come round but rather slow. Besides most ladies eventually prefer male friends.

Take my advice and post your prices here, there is no need to make your prices a secret, personally I think its the wrong approach to business. If people know your prices they will tell you if its affordable or not, besides you will certainly get orders from interested people who can afford it. All fingers they say, are not equal.

I have noticed your replies to a few posts on inverters always deliver just your phone number without any price information. This is 2010 and competition is the key to staying on top.
Science/TechnologyDesign Ideas For Electricity Generation. by iukpe(op): 11:56am On Feb 25, 2010
I was thinking sometime of ways of making free electricity and somehow a few "crazy" ideas have come to my mind. While i post mine, I will also like some modifications to my designs, other contributions and suggestions to prove or disprove the ideas. trust me they are all designs i will love to try at home.

This first one consists of an AC alternator, Ac electric motor fitted with a flywheel to ensure torque is kept at average. and a start-up engine which is needed at start up.

The engine is first started up to initiate the initial electricity generation from the alternator which in turn is expected to drive the motor which drives the alternator in return. The idea is that the engine could be switched off to allow the already running alternator to power the motor that drives it. thereby  creating a continuous running generator with the energy source being its own inertia. However the design idea specifies that the engine drive shaft be fitted with a gear system that will allow it to be set to a frictionless neutral position after the motor is running to eliminate the drag of the engine shaft when out of operation.

Of course the setback to this design would be fluctuating loads or increasing loads, but will it work at all?

Lets try this at home!

ComputersRe: Electronic Circuit Projects by iukpe(op): 3:03am On Feb 25, 2010
Many years ago about 1980s to late 90s I used to dream of being a small scale electronics manufacturer. I actually made up my own brand name and I constructed several amplifier units, speaker systems, equalizers, mixers, stereo systems, home intercom systems, FM transmitters and portable outdoor transmitters, Inverter units, all on direct order to my customers.

The constraints i used to experience were sourcing of some components, in most cases i had to fall back on components from used "scrap" boards. Searching for special relays, miniature 1/4w resistors (which were very useful for achieving compact designs, LEDs, some potentiometers etc.)
Casing and finishing of my designs was also a problem though I designed my casings with wood mostly polished or surfaced and sprayed with color.
I used metal and PVC a few times for Audio mixers and Transmitters.

Today packaging of electronic devices have gone "over the roof". Electronic systems are preferred automated by the user and expected to have some sort of microprocessor built in function.

I was never afraid to try anything as long as I could find the components to build it, I always had the time to do the component layout and soldering.

However some projects were never completed till date, though I still have partly finished boards.

I hardly find time to do any of that these days but hope that someday with the right opportunity, I could be part of a team of enthusiasts or support some, who believe in developing the skills of Nigerian technologists, designers and engineers.

CrimeSuggest What The Police Should Do To Truly Serve And Protect. by iukpe(op): 5:21am On Feb 23, 2010
I feel very sad every time there is report of crime, robbery, assassination, kidnapping or a hit and run accident, and the final news is that the culprits got away without a trace.

I believe every Nigerian dreams of a day when he will have a police force at his disposal able to protest and truly serve.
In developed states a police officer is most likely the number one person you would turn to in case of trouble or if you simply need information or you have lost your way. they are observant on duty and would most likely walk up to you to offer assistance if they observe you are wondering or confused.

There are still a lot to be done though i can say for example, that Port-Harcourt city has a fairly commendable response arrangement to emergencies but there are still lapses when it comes to tracking criminals on a getaway and how passers by may be treated when the police arrives a crime scene. The result is that people will run when police arrives and they never get to collect eye witness statements if they do not make arrests.

My suggestions will be to train a more public friendly team of police officers to be on our streets, employ simpler patrol vehicles than the hilux trucks in use today. Provide more surveillance police officers on the streets in uniform with portable communication equipment.

The most important thing not under police control is provision of more street lights in our city streets, eliminating most dark areas at night.

Every police vehicle or van should be fitted with an updated GPS reciever.

The police need to be more friendly, and treat citizens with respect, this is how to get closer to information about crime.

Please who can tell me how much exactly I am expected to pay or tip the pump attendant if i am buying petrol in jerrycan for my generator. per size of can. Because you usually are expected to pay the attendant first before he makes the actual sale no matter the pump price.

4 ltrs ======
10 ltrs======
20 ltrs======
25 ltrs======

etc etc

huh?
AutosRe: Beware Of This Fuel Sales Attendants Tricks by iukpe: 5:13am On Feb 20, 2010
It doesn't matter whether its Mobil, Oando, Texaco or Divine oil, , this is a trick that works for them. My precautions are as follows but not limited to these.

1. When you drive into a filling station beware of unusually friendly attendants,
2. If your car fuel tank cover is locked via ignition or you have to release via switch, step out of the vehicle before you release the lock. Give a few seconds delay and don't allow the attendant open it before you and probably insert the fuel spout, they will not clear the meter before refilling.
3. Beware of attendants who try to sell you products at the pump as soon as you arrive, they might be trying to distract you from the last pump reading.
4. Watch out if motorbike (Okada) just bought fuel before you, you may have N100 or up to N300 added to your fuel bill, the attendants may not clear their pump reading.
5. Watch out for attendants who ask you to park on the opposite side to the reading pump meter, they may not tell you what they are doing till they are through and make you pay more. Always ask which meter is recording on the pump you are filling from, and see that the meter is cleared before you okay the attendant to serve you.
6. watch out for meters that read lesser digits for more. e.g. 10.00 meaning N1000. if you are buying below N1000 they may just make you pay N700 for N70 fuel.
7. Always try to make your gauge a reference to what has been filled in your tank and check before you pay or drive off. (ignore those horn crazy drivers behind you).

One of the problems with our fuel system is the fact that it is still a cash system. Some big stations should begin to have separate pumps with electronic card system, it could be special cards offered by the marketers themselves and used in their stations. This will save motorists a lot of money from lost change and also reduce fraud.
Its is clear that station mangers only read the pumps and ask the attendants to account for the sales per liter, in this case all left over change is the attendant's pocket juice. This is the root of all pump evil.
ComputersRe: Electronic Circuit Projects by iukpe(op): 12:26pm On Feb 17, 2010
I think that we have skilled people, but perhaps what is missing is the opportunity to practice or encourage open design, construction and testing of works aimed at solving problems in industry. Everything is always related to contracts and ordering abroad, I guess because that is what allows people to make money for them selves. on the other hand we will never develop local skills which is the backbone of technological development without testing improving on our own ideas and designs.

If perhaps industries who have equipment broken down would sponsor skilled persons to give a shot at designing systems to replace their faulty modules or in any sector (manufacturing, oil and gas, refinery and so on, ). or you have non profit institutions whose aim is geared at improving and developing freelance technology design and ideas then industries would come to them for assistance.
Some of these practices should start from our educational institutions, though they dont come cheap. But the long term benefits are enormous.
Like the space projects in advanced countries they put a lot of cash behind it.

If we want to be one of the nations making progress in technology and a"super power" someday, we cannot ignore developing our indigenous technology.

What is a typical problem-solving project that could contribute to improving the quality of life of Nigerians?

In our typical Nigerian situation, not very many things matter to us unless it has to do with producing electricity or naira notes.

What can technologists design to be of value to Nigerians?
PoliticsRe: CNN Ridicules Governor Sylva by iukpe: 9:55am On Sep 11, 2009
This is why we are so backward and in all the trouble we find our selves. Most of our leaders are not smart or brilliant. Solving the nation's huge problems is not their priority. All they know how to do is to fight their way into power at all cost and then mess with our resources.

I wish the brilliant and smart people would take the bull by the horn and say "enough of this".
Why must a govenor be the person to show a foreign journalist round buildings. It makes no sense to me in the first place. It kind of portrays his priority and if he didnt know that before now then SAD! like we all see.

We have been ruled by this class of people for the past 25yrs and this has been the problem all along.

CareerRe: Is Music The Only Surviving Talent In Nigeria? by iukpe: 7:09am On Aug 20, 2009
Please let em sing-o!

have we forgotten that there was a time when Nigerian Music was a "sorry-story". Nothing Musical was Good. from Commercial Adverts to Live band or recorded music, everything was a shame to hear.

Now we have some good music coming out of Nigeria, and in the midst of this like any other place there will be a lot of crap.
I think Music alone has helped develope a lot of talents,
backup singers, dancers, Camera crew, Video producers, stage engineers etc etc and there are a lot of talents in these set only to name a few.

The notable thing is that, like Nigeria, there is no control for the crap that is about to overshadow the good.

Na today NPF begin kill people in custody?
We de talk as if this na de first case or 1000th?

The police did what they have always been doing. If you are a cop killer or robber and arrested by the police and you live to walk the streets again then maybe the devil was asleep at the time you were arrested.

The NPF do not hold the ethics of modern day police, thats why the top boss can cook up any story for the public even though evidence will come from BBC or CNN to disprove his case and "no shaking"

Abi any person say Nigeria press no get photos of Boko Haram leader or his ex commisioner friend arrested by army or police? why dem no publish am to dispute the IGs claims?
Leave matter, this people don die, na who dem go kill tomorrow na him concern us. e fit be you.
PoliticsRe: Alleged World Bank Document Names Top Nigerians And Their Loot In Foreign Banks by iukpe: 2:08am On Jul 31, 2009
Thank you, Saddik.

All these are lies from the fact that no one is prosecuting these people, or have the people on the list run away from our midst?
How can people actually steal all these billions listed and nothing is done to them. The money is then genuinely theirs, product of their sweat and hard work and so they should be left alone.

If these men truly stole these monies and Nigerians are suffering these much, they would be begging to return the loot in exchange for their lives.

Science/TechnologyRe: Inverter And Solar Panel Solution To Nigeria Electricity Failure by iukpe: 11:42am On Jun 22, 2009
The truth is "non-technical" people are usually misinformed about this inverter stuff.
I build and run inverters for personal use actually.
The most important part of the inverter like any other Electricity machine is the fuel which in this case is the battery tank. The next is the load. People are most likely to put all their hope on the inverter after they have spent so much on it considering the fact that electricity is such a failure in many parts of naija.
But this is where the disappointment comes in. And most people finally push the inverter aside and return to generators.

Inverters like generators are not meant for full time running because they require charging. So in Nigeria you actually need a generator or good supply of Nepa light (reasonable hours) to run an inverter successfully. else your inverter run time will keep reducing cos of low charging until its no longer reasonable. It may not mean your battery is bad if your run time is not as good as the first time , just that you are not putting back the power in the battery enough. Like filling your petrol tank in your generator.

The costs usually displayed by dealers in most cases are of the inverter alone. You will have to worry about isolated electrical lines if you want to have a fixed load not variable load on your inverter. The right kind of batteries (Deep cycle) and reasonable battery tank if you want to worry about extended hours of running, and this is usually not supported by the built in chargers in the inverter as they might be designed to charge at most 2 batteries in about 4 to 6hrs.
The solution to the charging problem and hence the run time is the solar panels which is no joke really. to make it efficient you need to collect a few of them, and considering the cost through some time.

Actually inverters are more economical in the long term if you inverst in about a 5kva or 10 to 20kva inverter, solar panels and a sizey battery tank. Periodic maintenance will be a total replacement of your battery tank in say 2yrs or so when your runtime reduces significantly and this is usually cheaper then the cost of petrol or diesel for an equivalent generator capacity, in the same period.
But trust me the cost will exceed N600,000.00 if you want it to make sense. No monthly servicing, no noise, no frequent trips to filling stations is what you will enjoy.
I will advise anyone willing to go into inverters as an option as a consumer to review options very well before starting to spend money. I will also advise that you build you battery tank in batches so you also replace them in batches this will reduce your periodic cost.
I will recommend small inverters about 1KVA for people running boutiques who only use mostly small fancy or fluorescent lighting and no need to power huge stuff if you can do without ACs. DVD shops, bookshops, electronics technicians who only test systems and use soldering irons.
Inverter for cold room use will be HUGE i guess.
