The petroleum minister does not know what is happening in the petroleum ministry, this is saaaad!
This woman should be relieved of her position immediately if we want to move forward before she alters the computation of figures.
Nairaland GeneralWhy Do Nigerian States Up Facilities They Cannot Fund Or Run Effectively? by iukpe(op): 8:06am On Jan 24, 2012
I am wondering in this modern day if it makes sense for every state in Nigeria to have her own,,

Radio station
TV station
Bank
University
College of education
University of Technology
Airport
Sports stadium

etc etc

Most of these facilities in the states are never properly funded and never meet today's world standard. Makes me wonder why they are set up in the first place.
EducationIs ASUU Asking For Too Much Or Government Has No Time For University Education? by iukpe(op): 7:48am On Jan 24, 2012
I am wondering why this keeps coming up all the time, !ASUU Strike!

How do we build a competent intellectual, professional work force in the near future if our students just manage through school or leap through with all the interruptions we are seeing.

What is ASUU demand that is difficult for Government to meet, so students can go back to school?

Looks like in Nigeria we are really against western education.
PoliticsRe: Police Offers N50m Reward For Information On Escaped Madalla Bomb Suspect by iukpe: 8:22am On Jan 20, 2012
This million is so easy to give away these days. The police couldn't use N50m to secure the criminal in transit, they should have asked soldiers to escort the criminal. This man is a national enemy for crying out loud.

N50m better be used to recruit new officers into the force. I am not sure they will ever find the man.
PoliticsRe: Okonjo-iweala Testifies Before Subsidy Probe Committee - Live by iukpe: 8:13am On Jan 20, 2012
@nsiadi

I agree with you, the hand of God is in this one.

Its hard really for Nigerians to learn now to trust government after so many years of waste. Its still the Nigerian government in Nigeria, with Nigerian factors possibly at play, so i don't blame Nairalanders or Nigerians at all for all the doubt.

The government should prove the masses wrong this time.

Citizens from states that have seen transformation in the last 10yrs, Lagos state, Cross river, Akwa Ibom, Enugu state etc had no hope in government to do what they realized within some years, but what their governments have done before their eyes has made them hopeful that good things are possible from Government.

The federal government has failed Nigerians in many ways, so the doubt is OK until government proves Nigerians wrong to win that confidence that future governments will enjoy.

And this will also set check point for future governments. Just like some states have set standards for other states to see.

Is it possible to move such a suspect in Nigeria without the IGs approval?
PoliticsRe: Igp Gets 24 Hours To Produce Boko Haram Escapee Or Be Sacked! by iukpe: 8:22am On Jan 19, 2012
This country is getting really interesting this year.

I want to question on who's approval this suspect was being moved and, was it necessary to have the suspect accompany the police to his town during investigation?

To me this is a high profile suspect, his mobilization should have been TOP SECRET, heavily guarded, and well planned.

Federal agents could have obtained a warrant, sealed off his residence and gained access there as many times as needed till investigation was complete.

This was a well planned escape rather, and that's why it turned out that way.
PoliticsRe: Ribadu: Protests A Divine Deal To End Corruption. by iukpe: 8:57am On Jan 17, 2012
The truth!

If NLC, TUC etc Occupy XYZ, did not organize a protest, No ordinary Nigerian would have come out to the street. We would only grumble at home or our offices, grumble while paying exorbitant fares and facing rising prices. Line up at filling stations, humbly buying petrol for N141 or perhaps more in some areas. Abuse and curse Mr president and his team and that will be the most of it.

Thanks to labor, many found a forum to perhaps say, "we are not happy with this". Many many Nigerians had never heard the word subsidy in their lives, talk less understanding its meaning.

However we are all lucky the price of petrol was only increased reduced to N97 at the end of the day. Thanks to Mr President, NLC, TUC and the Occupy group.

To stop corruption is a necessary course, but how many Nigerians truly believe they have a say or can do anything about this when they have heard and seen from the 90s, several politicians and public officers being fingered or held for corrupt practices only to show up in other political or government positions later. This has a psychological effect on Nigerians.

Assume like you witness a bank robbery, you see the head robber as he flees the scene. You scream come out in the open to say you can identify him and as you visit the police station to document your statement, , that head rubber is seated as the station DPO.

So,  the ordinary Nigerian would prefer to go about his business hoping that someday a miracle will emerge and the rich and corrupt begin to eat each other "an act of God".

Maybe the Occupy forum should start a series of enlightenment programs to enlighten the common man on the implications of some government policies, like the Budget.

As you would agree with me, much more than "subsidy", how many Nigerians really care about what the budget holds for them or how many care to review its programs through the year. Who will be watching the government as the months go by to actually access progress on the refinery, railway, agriculture, education, health-care, electricity etc [s]the reason why we have to pay N97 per liter of petrol.[/s]

Perhaps it will become business as usual after a few weeks until we are asked to pay N120 same time next year. Then another strike.

TV stations and the press should begin to take us through some of these potential projects, visit the conditions in our government hospitals, universities and other institutions, existing agricultural projects, cities and roads refineries. The press should leave the corridors of Aso Rock and Abuja for a while. hoping that the same level of publicity, the same enlightenment that promoted the protests can go a long way to help Nigerians assess the state of infrastructure around the country today and observe what progress would be made about our lives, say, 10 months from now. To justify the N120 per liter or N150 we would most likely be called to face another 12 months from today.

Nairaland GeneralBreak The Cabals, We Have Them In Almost Every Sector In Nigeria. by iukpe(op): 10:37pm On Jan 15, 2012
Political Cabals - they ensure that no well meaning, self convinced/ ready to serve, trusted person who is not on their side can contest any election,
at LG level to presidency.

Electricity Cabals - they ensure that there can be no steady light in Nigeria so they can continue the importation of generators in to the country from
china etc.

Construction and development cabals - they ensure that the prices of materials like Cement etc stay on the high.
- They ensure that pot holes on our roads turn to lakes before they are awarded as contracts so bigger
quotes can be made.

Nollywood cabals - Ensure that new breed talents dont find their way easily into the movies and the old faces remain in the movies acting
secondary school scenes though they obviously look over 40yrs of age.

Fuel importation Cabals - Ensure that the price of fuel stays up and that the refineries are not fixed cos the business of importation remains more
lucrative than refining crude oil in Nigeria.

Business cabals - Ensure that you cannot venture successfully into some businesses in Nigeria when you do not go through them no matter how
good your idea is except you do it their way. Hence no transformation in some sectors, things are still done the old style.

etc etc
PoliticsRe: Jonathan's Militants Surround Oil Platforms In Delta& Rivers States by iukpe: 10:01pm On Jan 15, 2012
Militantshuh?? I thought there was amnesty with lots of benefits, cash and so on, ? did that also fail?

This might be what boko harams are looking for, their own version of amnesty.

The Nigerian unemployed graduates have no welfare package, but the militants do, in form of amnesty.

Are we progressing or what?
PoliticsRe: Ribadu: Protests A Divine Deal To End Corruption. by iukpe: 6:38pm On Jan 14, 2012
Please, can we re phase the protest coming week?

It must be stream lined to correct our path as a nation.

What we need I think are as follows,

Cut salaries of Political office holders by scale.

Starting from the President N120m/ year

down to

Councilors = N2.5m/ yr

Investigate any oil subsidy scam and bring offenders to book. From the oil/ construction companies involved to the NNPC or PPPRA or govt officers involved.

Set out development policies and projects, not political projects that will impact on peoples lives and ways of monitoring execution. this including the reconstruction or rebuilding of our refineries.
Non of these major contracts should be given to Nigerian firms as they are usually collaborators. this is national interest we are talking here.
If we dont have the commitment, technology or manpower to build our refineries then we shouldn't try to pretend and allow people enrich themselves.

Provide electricity all through the country within the next 2years.
rebuild our universities so we can start to grow and develop our own technologies as a people.

PoliticsRe: Fuel Subsidy: NLC Suspends Strike For The Weekend by iukpe: 2:32pm On Jan 14, 2012
How many days did the Egyptians suspend their protest last year before they ended dictatorship?
How many days did the Libyans suspend their revolution before they ended their dictatorship?
How many days have the Syrian protesters given up amidst all the killings?
these people were fighting for what they truly believed in.

If Nigerians understood the reason why the fuel price grew from N65 to N141 per liter and why govt took the decision they did, NLC would be meeting the masses on the streets to join the protest, when they start their strike, not the masses meeting NLC if it was really a measure of injustice to protest for.
PoliticsRe: How Much Should Petrol Really Be Sold At Our Pumps? by iukpe(op): 4:25pm On Jan 13, 2012
from  http://nationaldailyngr.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=2767:fuel-subsidy-protest-how-much-should-petrol-actually-cost-in-nigeria&catid=336:pointblank&Itemid=574

", The cost structure of crude oil (i.e. Qua Iboe Crude Oil) production is given as follows: exploration and development - $3.5; Production cost - $1.5; Refining Cost - $12.6; transportation - $1.5; while distribution and bridging fund Margin stands at $15.69.

So the true cost of one litre of petroleum anywhere in Nigeria should be as follows: Total sum cost of 159 litres  of petrol (from one barrel of crude) is actually $34.8. From this, to produce one litre of petrol should cost $34.8 divide by159 litres and this would come to $0.219. Using the exchange rate of N160 to $1that is 0.219 x N160, one litre of petrol is actually produced at N35.02k. The tax of N5 per litre is taken by the government. So after all these, the actual production cost plus tax for one litre of petrol produced in Nigeria should not be more than N40.20k."

", rather than protest for the price of petrol to be reverted to N65 per litre, Nigerians should actually be asking for the realistic pricing using N40.20k as the benchmark of production cost plus tax. So we should actually be asking for N45-N50 per litre as the realistic price of petrol of course including a profit margin of N10 per litre.

It is outright robbery to think that locally refined petrol should follow the dictates of international oil markets to sell for local consumption, "

PoliticsRe: How Much Should Petrol Really Be Sold At Our Pumps? by iukpe(op): 4:08pm On Jan 13, 2012
Well, there should really be no doubt whether we are importing fuel or not. Yes we are because we are not producing petrol, (refining). We are using too much on generators than cars.
My Generator at home consumes more petrol a week than my car and my wife's car put together.
More than 70% of Nigerians who troop to filling stations everyday buy fuel for their generators and almost half who buy into car tanks also buy in Jerry-cans.
Petrol black market business has become common on our streets and even patronized by police vans and security vehicles. ( [s]I thought that hawking petrol was illegal[/s]).

Many Nigerians do not own cars or a boat business but buy petrol everyday to use for businesses in the city or at home. So it is possible to have this high consumption hence importation. But this is no reason to make Nigerians pay more than is reasonable. To me importation should be temporary. While we sit and wait for our refineries to be fixed. But it appears its going to be the way forward for things even in the next 50yrs.
PoliticsRe: Fuel Subsidy: NLC Suspends Strike For The Weekend by iukpe: 1:11pm On Jan 13, 2012
Why didn't they strike when the prices of kerosene and diesel went up?

Are the youths, market women, struggling parents, unemployed graduates who will be waiting patiently for the country to improve a bit within 2012, under NLC?

I think NLC might call off the protest but the Nigerian people would still want answers to all the strange talk, allegations and figures that we have heard this week.
PoliticsHow Much Should Petrol Really Be Sold At Our Pumps? by iukpe(op): 12:34pm On Jan 13, 2012
Fellow NL, how much is petrol exactly worth at the pumps after importation.
I mean a justifiable, rational value putting importers actual costs into consideration and charging the right %profit.

Leaving out the force of corruption. I will like to know.
About how much should the consumer pay at the pumps per liter of petrol?

I agree greatly that the Churches should come together to sponsor this kind of idea to assist the needy irrespective of religion, tribe or race. There maybe small programs similar to this within the churches but if churches put the huge money spent on building massive, expensive cathedrals and worship centers, purchase of Jets and other flamboyant things on reaching out to the needy across the country and assisting the poor in receiving medical care for instance, providing scholarships, the results would be a miracle to the lives they would touch and to the Glory of God.
PhonesCan You Recall Your Dropped Or Lost But Favourite Gsm Numbers? by iukpe(op): 9:11pm On Oct 25, 2011
The GSM phone system has been around in Nigeria for quite some time now. And for most people like me, we have dropped or lost some phone numbers that we were very fond of due to certain events and had to move on to another line or network.

I was very fond of my first MTN number
08033041935
this sim card was stolen in my car about 2005 along with a Nokia 3310 phone and somehow I never retrieved the line cos I was using another MTN line at the time which however I no longer use today.
08037542660

I will also recall some numbers of some loved ones that will never be answered anymore at least not by them.
08035518872

perhaps you can share this lost numbers or try to remember them, for the fun of it. Maybe someone in Nairaland has your old number now.
PoliticsRe: I am not a Lion, A General, Goliath, Pharaoh Or A King - GEJ by iukpe: 2:24pm On Sep 26, 2011
Nigeria at this stage with corruption, terrorism, poverty, illiteracy, tribalism, unemployment, violence, militancy etc etc needs A Lion, A General, A Goliath, A Pharaoh or A King. So what are we going to do?

The task ahead for GEJ is huge and needs to be handled with a lot of pressure if anything is to change within his tenure.
What would GEJ be thinking if a minister he has assigned office comes to him with this words in the face of challenge and failures?

The capabilities of the southern political class is in question if he cannot make visible moves in all areas to put things right.
PoliticsRe: The Real Casualty Figures Of The UN Bomb Blast? by iukpe: 3:54am On Sep 02, 2011
Lets face it, as Nigerians we have always seen casualty figures falsified after incidents of Collapsed building, riots, police raids, military actions etc etc. I have no doubts that the figures are not real. I wonder too, what the gains might be.
Obviously we do not have cameras rolling at the scene some minutes after any of these incidents, so no one can actually see pictures from the blast site. No live media coverage of any kind. The challenge here is to our Press to expose the truth. Then no one will be able falsify any casualty figures excessively.

Calm down!

Hope this is still useful to you. Fruit cordials either cherry or strawberry flavor are used to give the cocktail that fruity taste. TORT refers to a measure used for spirits what we refer to as a SHOT for gin or whiskey. The tort glass is sold locally in most glass ware stores.
Alcoholic cocktail or Chapman depends on choice. Like Gin and juice.
