THE LATEST KADUNA CRISIS : THE KILLING OF CHIEF ADARA , A KIDNAP GONE WRONG NOT ETHNIC/RELIGIOUS KILLING With lives and properties at stake , and based on credible information at my disposal I find it necessary to explain the immediate cause of the new wave of violence that engulfed Kaduna today. Being Kaduna state , already some narratives are reporting the killing of the Adara Chief as a religious/ethnic conflict. It is not. The Chief died as a result of a kidnap (he was kidnapped along with 5 others) that went horribly wrong. Without mentioning names, I had the unpleasant experience of being indirectly involved in the ransom negotiations for the release of the 2 of the kidnap victims (not on the side of the Chief) when a relative of some of the kidnap victims was contacted by the kidnappers and he in turn contacted me to compare notes. The kidnap happened on Friday 19 October at around 4.46 pm along the single lane Kaduna -Kachia road. The kidnappers about 9 in number, first stopped a vehicle coming from Kachia going to Kaduna carrying a man , his wife and their driver all Muslims and this group was the group whose relative contacted me. They were first dispossessed of their belongings and the victims at that time thought this was a mere robbery. Then came the Chief of Adara’s jeep from the Kaduna direction which was equally stopped with his Orderly and local Dogari killed on the spot leaving the chief , his wife and driver . Another man from a different vehicle was also taken After dispossessing the kidnappers told the now 7 victims from the 3 vehicles (Chief + Wife + 2 aides, Man +Wife, and a lone Man) to follow them into the bush on foot . All the 7 victims were kept in one location. On Saturday late night , probably due to the condition of the Chief’s wife, the kidnappers released her and allowed the driver of the other vehicle to lead her out of the bush and they reached civilization on Sunday morning. While in captivity, at a place not far from the town (according to one victim) , of the reaming 5 kidnap victims, the lone man kidnapped attempted an escape and had almost succeeded when the kidnappers captured and killed him. The kidnappers now had 4 victims remaining the Chief and his driver on one side, and the other man and his wife on the other. Eventually, the kidnappers made contact with the relative of the first group (not the Chief’s group) and demanded a ransom of N50 million for the release of the man and his wife. I would assume that similar or same demand was made to the Chief’s relatives but I am not privy to this. Negotiations were on back and forth for a reduction and according to the victim each time that a deal failed to be struck the kidnappers come back and beat them mercilessly. Finally the kidnappers agreed to accept N1.5 million for the release of the man and his wife. The relative who called me , was later called by the kidnappers at 12 00 on Thursday 25 October and instructed to come to Jere with the ransom. I advised him to demand speaking with his relative as Proof of Life as it would not make sense to pay ransom when the victim might have already been killed. The kidnappers obliged and allowed him to speak with his brother. Arriving Jere, he received another call telling him to move to Katari. At Katari, near a certain petrol station, off the road leading to Gurara dam , he took an unused road towards a certain rail/road junction. He was then instructed to leave his car and walk about 1-2 km with the money along a river bank as he passed some children playing. Just as he was wondering there was nobody to meet, 2 of the kidnappers in their 20s, with Fulani features appeared with AK-47s with their faces partially covered. They asked, in Hausa, if he had the money to which he responded in the affirmative and proceeded to bring out and show them the money from his bag. They then asked “Are you sure the money is complete?” and he answered that he believed so but cannot be certain as took the money straight from the bank. “Why don’t we count just to be sure” he offered, but they said NO……”If it is not complete you will hear from us they said menacingly. This intermediary , a security expert himself , had wisely carried an extra N20, 000 just in case the money from the bank was not complete as from experience any shortage from the stated amount could lead to the kidnap victim being killed or injured. Now as this intermediary was leaving the place he made the ransom payment, he saw a black Peugeot 307 with a well dressed man in Caftan heading towards the drop zone and he surmised that this neatly dressed man was also going to make payment. It turned out that the man was a senior aide of the Chief of Adara and he too was going to keep rendezvous with the kidnappers. After collecting the money they told the intermediary to head to Diko junction near Abuja as according to them , the victims are kept and would be released from Minna. He arrived Diko around 4 pm and waited for the call till 1 am in the morning. As it turned out , sending him to Diko was a ruse as the 2 victims he was representing had already been released at around 7pm somewhere near Katari. Now as earlier stated all the 4 victims including the chief were kept in one location and according to the victim that was rescued to pass time, he and the Chief engaged in discussions with the Chief telling them to please visit his place when next they were passing by. Now according to the rescued victim, when the time for their release came, the kidnappers instructed that the man and his wife leave by one direction while the chief and his driver leaves by another direction. That, was the last he saw the chief and he was actually surprised to hear that the Chief’s body has been found. The Chief of Adara is dead and it may not be important how or why he was killed . But I am relating story , just to disabuse the minds of those saying that the killing of Chief Adara has religious or ethnic undertones. Rather it was a kidnap that went wrong and we do not know what made the kidnappers to kill him after collecting ransom and ostensibly releasing him and the other captives. Just so that you know. Reference:While I agree with you that our leaders need to be tasked and held responsible for the challenges we are facing, because that was what they promised; but at the same time we need to fair and not malicious in our comments. Some of the comments I have read here are pure evil, the crisis in Kaduna predates El rufai, and anyone who is sincere and honest will agree so. There is no one who can easily solve the Kaduna communal issues, because these things are deep rooted in decades of conflict and hatred. To make matters worse people peddle dastardly lies against each other, thereby deepening the hatred among both ethnic groups. Kidnapping has been a problem in Kaduna for some time now, security agencies and the Governor should take responsibility. Why? Because it is their duty to protect life & Property, but this does not imply that they are complicit in the kidnapping. After the Kasuwa Magani crisis, the King of Adara was kidnapped and subsequently killed; this caused the Adara people to go on rampage and start killing Hausas; in Kaduna once such attacks start on one end then it spirals and reprisals start everywhere. Because the people are filled with suspicion of one and other, the people suspected the Hausas kidnapped their king in reprisal for the Kasuwa Magani attacks. It is just a vicious cycle!. Below is an account of an witness of the event, we all should just preach peace and stop spreading hate. Neither the Adara nor the Hausas are free of blame. It is our hope that the government will take heed of this advice. The state Government needs to take deliberate and comprehensive measures to address the deep discord between the different tribes in Kaduna. A truth and reconciliation commission needs to be setup. |
whytepawn1:Just condemn the attacks, that's the best you can do. Don't talk of reprisals, majority of the victims in Kasuwa Magnani are the Hausas, the reasons govt understated the casualty is to avoid reprisals from Hausa strong holds. |
Kanu is just making this thing difficult, He could easily have asked for the Igbo states alone, Anambra, Enugu, Imo, Ebonyi, Abia, to secede. The rest of Nigeria won't pose much resistance, but no the thief wants South-South join, are they igbos ?? Ole |
jammal:Do you know what caused the fight?? Let's learn to condemn bad things regardless if the perpetrators share the same faith with us. All those that have been killed in Sabo today simply because they are Muslims or Hausas is very wrong. What I expect is a condemnation and a call for justice. There is nothing like reprisal, even in foot ball a reprisal is a red card |
BiafraIShere:In case U are not aware the place this violence is happening is the xtian area of Kaduna. In case you don't know the people killing are the xtians in Sabo, mosque are burning, Muslim homes are burning. That's the story, anyone who hears of crisis in Sabo knows Muslims are the ones that are vulnerable. |
ZKOSOSO:Thank God Sanwo Olu is xtian, this is how idiots like this poster would have been peddling falsehood everywhere. Sit down in their bedroom and turn figments of their imagination to facts which they start peddling to create hate and discord. Foolish animals |
Going by the debates, it appears to me a lot of people acknowledge the developmental projects of Aregbesola. Very few spoke of bad roads, abandoned projects etc. The debate was more about oh should He have built mega schools instead of renovating the old ones. It was a shift way from the usual debates, the modulated Salary issue is the biggest failure of this govt, and if it loses this election trust me it will be because of modulated Salary. However, despite his failures He still remains very popular because of the works that are acclaimed to be clearly evident in Oshogbo. Moreover Aregbesola's opponents do not command big respect in the state nor do they have huge serious sincere followership. At the end of today, we will know... |
There a lots of indigenous Igbo Muslims. The Igbos know it themselves they only pretend like Muslims do not exist in Igbo land. There is a village in Enugu where the larger part of the population are muslims; similarly in Afikpo Eboyi state there is a large population of Muslims. And this are no reverts, I mean people whose grand fathers were muslims. May God bring upon us all guidance. |
May Allah reward this organisation's efforts, with the strength and wisdom to do many more good acts such as this. |
AustineE1:Abdulwahab Jibo said the problem started about two weeks ago, but steps were not taken to nip it in the bud. “There are Muslims boys that are dating Christian girls. Some of the girls dating the Muslim boys converted to Islam,” Jibo said. Lost for words… this man is among the victims of the crisis “The brothers of one of the girls who converted and married a Muslim boy rejected the marriage and went to the residence of the Muslim boy to take her away. “The Muslim boys resisted attempts to forcefully take the girl and a fight ensued. When the Christian boys realised that they would be overpowered, they retreated and went back to mobilise their people. The Muslim boys also mobilised and before you knew it they started shooting guns and attacking each other with dangerous weapons.” The police said 18 people have been arrested in connection with the incident. |
The fabrication of Trinity The only verse indicating trinity (the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost are one) has been removed from the bible by 32 scholars of the bible in the Revised Standard Version among many other verses as fabrication after they realized that these verses do not exist in the most ancient manuscript and as such there is not a single verse indicating Trinity anymore in the complete bible. John A-V {5:7} For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. (This verse does not exist anymore in the RSV) HIS REJECTION OF DIVINITY (There is not a single clear unequivocal statement in the complete bible where Jesus himself says that I am God or worship me) Mathew A-V {19:16} And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life? {19:17} And he (Jesus) said unto him, Why callest thou me good? [there is] none good but one, [that is,] God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments. Mathew A-V {23:9} And call no [man] your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven. {23:10} Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, [even] Christ. Peter testifies that Jesus is a man; Acts A-V {2:22} Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know: Mathew A-V {7:21} Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. John A-V {17:3} Jesus said: And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. Mark A-V {12:29} And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments [is,] Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: John A-V {5:37} And the Father himself, which hath sent me, hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape. Jesus response to the Christians in his second coming Matthew A-V {7:22} Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? {7:23} And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. |
daroz:Suspicious to say the least. Otobo always wanted money from the beginning. She probably got what she wanted |
Where is Redeem Church & MFM in this ranking ![]() |
tomdon:Bros. let us be careful of spreading hate. This is not the first time Fulanis are being killed, it has been a tit for tat thing going on for long. The sad part is that the atrocities against the Fulanis hardly get reported, and this is making the matter even worse. The massacre at mambilla plateau didn't get half the reportage the Benue killings has got, yet the casualities was a lot more. It is in the interest of everyone to pursue peace, because those Fulani guys we take their pound of flesh back and the violence will continue. We all should pursue justice for these guys, the same way we seek justice for the farmers in order to prevent further escalation of violence. |
On the bright side. We should be proud we have a first family with a honest wife. We should be proud that in this same country the EFCC can attempt to arrest the SGF. There a few good signs, we hope someone will take it over from Buhari to the next level. |
There is got to be a strategy to contain Zambia's number 9, the guy is out playing our central defence. I don't know how we will cope for the next 45mins |
sosasatire:GBAM, the OP is making a far reaching judgement based on less than 10 leaves He saw on a photo for a 450hectares farm!. That's obviously beef and insincerity . |
How can you blame the man, the work of a pastor is the most lucrative job in Nigeria today, imagine if someone claimed to be Jesus himself!?? |
eshietIntrepid:The Northerners you mean!.People need to get this brainwash off their head. For how long has the North really ruled us since democracy? Obasanjo- (SW) - 8 years Yaradua- (NW) - 2 years GEJ-(SS) - 6 years Buhari - 2 years Possibly Osinbajo - 2 years Lets be real with what we say, we are in a democracy now, I still don't get how the born to rule cliche comes in again. The same Kanu was for "One Nigeria", when GEJ ruled and now a Northerner is in power and suddenly He is raising the tempo for Biafra, how democractic is that? We need to stop making blanket calls for restructuring, we need to state what we need to be restructured. Lets state what policies or laws we think should be expunged and what laws we need to add to the constitution. |
Cuche:Best comment. Others should just read & learn, instead of making silly remarks. |
ayogozie:That is not true. The whole of Nigeria is not patrionizing Innoson enough, especially Govt. I mean state &Federal Govt. |
This is the first time I will see Governor give out a fairly used car; this does not even look like Tokunboh! |
Juliet Ejue just destroyed Ahmed Musa's home. Sbe was rocking another woman's husband and now finally she has seized him completely. Hopefully Musa will come back to his senses soon. I so much pity Jamila |
Adeboye is highly reverred and a big celebrity in the Christian World (at least Nigeria). Ooni is just exploiting Adeboye's status, showing Adeboye humility is nothing; showing the people (your supposed subjects) humility is what should be praised. Goodluck Jonathan also attempted to exploit Adeboye's popularity but unfortunately it was not enough to return him as president. He knelt before Adeboye to seek his divine powers I believe, and to also curry the supports of millions of Adeboye's ardent followers, whom will be delighted to see the President kneel before their own FATHER!. Ambode has also played this script, let us see where all these takes us in the end. Adeboye is the Pastor of the moment, He has Lagos (Ambode) & Nigeria (Osinbajo) under him at the moment. |
Alarefe is just one man. The news reported it that many Muslims disagreed with his view, like I also disagree with his view utterly. But no, xtians will rather prefer to insult Islam and Muslims in general, because of one person's twisted view, even if most Muslims disagree with him. Christians really need to do a self assessment of their comments! |
Dc4life:They are not against God, it is a stupid act!. |
sexybbstar:May God never make us stoop to the level where we beat our wives!, May we not encounter such frustration |
ilynem:Lets just take the bolded part of your response in the light of Quranic and biblical verses. Let us judge by what is in the text of the Quran & Bible. It is all here with evidences for you to see: 1.Bible: "Dont think i come to bring peace to this earth but a SWORD. matt 10:34 Quran: "We have sent you(Muhammad) as a mercy to whole humanity. 2. Bible: Those that refuse to accept me as their king bring them and SLAUGHTER them.Luke 19:27. Quran: "Let there be no compulsion in religion".Baqara2:256, "You shall hav your religion and i shall have my religion.ch109:6 3. Bible: "Sell your coats and buy yourself a SWORD" Luke22:36 Quran: "Whoever kills an innocent soul it is as if he has killed mankind entirely. And whoever saves a soul - it is as if he has saved mankind entirely." Ma'ida ch5:32 “ Whoever kills a person(non muslim) having treaty with muslims will never smell the fragrance of Paradise. Hadith Sahih Bukhari Vol4 3166 Be sincere, God may shower his mercy on you. |
Danmaiduguri:No need to make a comment. It is all there in black & white |
kingsouthie:Indeed, Yeshua is the Hebrew name for Jesus. It means "Yahweh [the Lord] is Salvation." The English spelling of Yeshua is “Joshua.” However, when translated from Hebrew into the Greek language, in which the New Testament was written, the name Yeshua becomes Iēsous. The English spelling for Iēsous is “Jesus.” What this means is Joshua and Jesus are the same name. One is translated from Hebrew into English, the other from Greek into English. It is interesting to note, the names "Joshua" and "Isaiah" are essentially the same names as Yeshua in Hebrew. They mean "Savior" and "the salvation of the Lord." Let me ask you, when you go to France does your name suddenly change to a french version ![]() |
