I think we should pray Tottenham takes points off Chelski on sunday. Chelsea is breathing heavily down United's neck and their breath smells like Lucifer's ass. Those blue fans need to get listerine mouth wash cos they blab a lot. Ferguson cannot afford to let it slip this time around. Van Der Sar in goal. Neville, Ferdinand, Vida and Heinze should start in the defence line-up. Ronaldo, Carrick, Scholesy and Giggsy in the midfield. Rooney and Saha to lead the attack. Even the most passive Man Utd fan knows we get to play better when Giggsy and Ronaldo play together. The confusion they bring to opposition is enough to win games for United. I dont want to ever see Silvestre in United's line-up again. How i wish i can take his legs out once n for all. United should go for the kill and beware of Kanu's antics. Kanu plays like a snitch and could cause chaos if care is not taken. |
Chris Coleman is the manager i admire the most. He is a class-act and u need to see this guy with his players in training. |
@ marlet01, Copenhagen disgraced us just the way Real Betis disgraced Chelsea last season and the way Porto dod 2 seasons ago. ![]() This is UEFA and there are no small teams anywhere. United needs a draw but i trust Fergie to do it the hard way in his own country. He will definitely roll out his strongest ever team against Celtic and the 3 points will be secured. United and Arsenal just like doing things the hard way. Trust these 2 managers to always tinker with the team especially when the finish line is in sight. Only Ferguson can explain why he made 6 changes from the team that demolished Bolton. Was he trying to reserve his old guards for Portsmouth @ Old Trafford? Ferguson will beat Celtic away and finish off Benfica with style n grace. @ Crazykid, United played extremely well but could have done better with good players on the pitch. Did u see how that gay called Silvestre conceeded the corner-kick that led to the goal? Would Ferdinand, Heinze or Gary Neville had done that? John O'shea was like a Gambian turkey in the middle of the pack. He couldn't pass and did not make any meaningful tackle all night. Wes Brown as a full back was nowhere. No meaningful cross all night and this is what pleases Ferguson. I wld have loved United to qualify last night especially when Chelski is visiting us soon. |
@ Vieira, Don't despair. Arsenal would still qualify and can even top the group. Arsenal faces Hamburg in the next tie which is almost as good as a walk-over. CSKA Moscow and Porto FC will neutralise each other and play for a draw. My only concern was how the score board managed to stay at 0-0 after 90 minutes. 5-0 to Arsenal wouldn't still have justified Arsenal's performance tonight. Twas a game u guys could have won 7-0. Keep ya head up. |
I cannot believe it. This is the most bizzare goalless draw u can ever see. Arsenal played their hearts out but could not score a goal. That performance had to be the best piece of play that i have seen at this level in a loooooooong time. Football is shiiiiiiit. I also think Arsenal played too elaborate throughout the match. They wanna score that "perfect goal" all the time and they seem to always cock it up. Fabregas should have passed to Henry instead of trying to dribble the goalie. Van Persie should have scored the header if he had guided it well. Rosicky? He should be shot for missing such an opportunity. He had virtually an empty net to tuck the ball in 5 yards and still missed. My great great granny could have scored that with her eyes closed. |
United lost and Ferguson should be held responsible for this loss. Why not roll out ur strongest team and win the match once and for fucking all? As soon as i saw relics like Silvestre and O'Shea i knew United would not walkaway with 3 points. Thats the difference btw Ferguson/Wenger and Mourinho. While Ferguson/Wenger attach too much human sympathy to shit players in their team, Mourinho keeps his wack players on the bench. Have u ever seen Jose roll out reserve team even when playing a 5th division side in FA cup or Carling cup? Hell No. He goes about his business and rolls out his strongest possible team. Fergie had the chance to cop all the 3 points if he had taken Giggsy, Saha and started with his strongest team. He thought an away match in the Champions league was the best place to experiment and he got served pretty well. Fergie could have snatched 12 points and play whatever team he wishes in the last 2 matches with his reserves if he so wishes. I am grossly disappointed in Fergie's selections and his decision to keep Scholesy on the bench. |
He is out of form. Drogba is a disgrace to Africa. Etoo, Kanu, Weah and all other african football legends never dives but Drog has added diving into his game. |
@ Cabali, R u saying Del Horno didnt deserve the red card he got after kicking Messi? I am not sure u watched this match with this blasphemy of urs. Del Horno wacked Messi's knee some minutes earlier before racking Messi's frame into ground. Even the most passive football fan knows Del Horno deserved to be sent off cos Messi tormented him all night. Chelsea disgraced football last night with Drogba's theatricx and i am happy UEFA will fine Chelsea for yesterday's gross mis-conduct. |
Ssup crazy? U have not been spitting on threads lately. Anything tha matter? |
@ Sir Lordi, I was fucking worried. What happened? Did u just find out your 5-yr-old daughter ain't urs? ![]() Take it easy man----------------- I cannot afford to lose the only KNIGHT on NL. |
@ Loverbwoy and Grizzly, Please pick your team and tell us the reasons why u prefer each player chosen to other players in the other teams listed. Go back and modify your comments and please no spamming. I shall descend heavily on whoever tries to spam this thread with scum and grime. @ Rosix, Yobo does not belong here. Pick any player within Arsenal, Chelsea, Man U and Liverpool. I set an example to follow and Loyika, Justkunmi and Superstan followed it responsibly. Please follow suit. It is not rocket science Thank U. |
It was a fluke cos it wasn't intended. The technique to lift the ball itself was NOT a fluke but the ball landing in the net was a BIG FLUKE. His celebrations and body language says it all that he didn't mean to score but put the ball out of the reach of Valdes hands. |
@ Grizzly, I am disappointed. You of all people should know better. Continuos diving tactics used by Chelsea seriously disrupted the flow of the game. We all know Barcelona plays one-touch sleek football and Mourinho knows Barce will breach Chelsea's defence if he allows passes to flow. He told his players to dive and roll at every minimal contact between his players and Barcelona's players. Barcelona to be eliminated? Try Brazil won't qualify for the world cup. ![]() 6 points in the next 2 matches will put Barca in the next round. I was disappointed cos what could have been a great spectacle turned out to be a street fight. When Barcelona came to Stamford Bridge, they were here for one mission: PLAY FOOTBALL. Chelsea went to Nou Camp to dive and cause anarchy on the pitch. Luckily it worked for y'all wanksters. Try that with AC Milan or Inter and lets see if it will work. Buncha cunts. |
Lampard did not intend to score. He only wanted to loft the ball to the far post for any of his team-mates to nod the ball in BUT he got lucky. His attempt to lob the back into the danger area should be applauded but the goal itself was a big fluke. Barcelona really did miss Samuel Etoo. Gudjohnsen is a different player from Etoo. Samuel Etoo runs into space with progressive runs and latches on to through passes from Messi and Dinho. Eidur runs towards the on-coming team-mates instead of running towards opponents goal to score. I saw some Barca moves that would have led to goals easily if Etoo boy was on the pitch but there was no goal poacher in Barca's team all night. Gudjohnsen's goal was a masterpiece from the Dinho as he made it very easy for Eidur to just tap in. I have to say Leo Messi should be given the young player of the year award with his display last night. British press always say ROONEY is fearless but i think MESSI is fearsome. His natural ability to take a defence as mean as Chelsea's is breath-taking. He is also a master of one-touch football and he mesmerised me all night with the deftest of touches and change of paces. Barca should qualify if they can beat Weder Bremen and Sofia Levski. Mourinho played dirty all night and Chelsea was a big disgrace to England with their nasty attitude of diving. Drogba was so irritating with his "notice me" countenance he was trying to put on. Jose Mourinho should be fined for his theatrics and loose statements he always utter. Saying Rijkaard is lucky to have a team like Barca-----What does that mean? Trying to say Barcelona gets favours from UEFA referees and stuffs. |
Chelsea didn't win the match, did they? So who are the losers? Its a pity u dont even know the difference btw a draw and a win. Fuckin soccer-illiterate!!!!!!! |
@ tosinadeda, Ya talk is cheap. Drogba cannot be good with his nasty theatrics last night. He is a shihhhhhhit player. |
@ twinstaiye, Don't mind that wimp called Tosinadeda. He seems to talk from his loud ass. I told him Chelsea's tactics of disrupting the flow of the game was appaling. Arsenal played with Barca last year and there was no bad blood. The game was played with good spirit from both teams and we all enjoyed the game. Chelsea was just being awful with Drogba diving and exaggerating any minimal contact. It was totally uncalled for----------U don't win european champions league in such manner. Mourinho named Eidur Gudjohnsen a diver and i was happy the guy let his football did the talking. Chelsea has simply forgotten the 2 sides can still meet @ the latter stages of this same competition where they might still have to go to camp nou. Drogba, Carvalho and Jose Mourinho were a big disgrace to English football with the manner they portrayed themselves last night. SHAME ON CHELSEA. |
Pointless for Drogba to keep diving. He is sub-consciously killing his own game. |
I think u are just a plagiarist. Still dunno why u get erections for me 4 nuthing. Stay off me u perv!!!!!!!!!! |
Thank U. The best piece u have said all night. |
What foolish words did u eat? Remember u have been diagnosed of Diarrhoea so take it easy on the diet. Drogba is STILL a disgrace for diving throughout the match but he saved his face by scoring in the added minutes after regular time. |
Take it easy on the grammar before u launch another RPG. The only moronic comments here is coming from ur filthy mouth. It seems u suffer from diarrhoea of the mouth which makes ur mouth run ceaselessly like Naigara falls. |
tosinadeda:Oh my God. Just when i thought u have improved from ur grammatical bomb-shells u launched a missile. Words of a looser or a loser? I think u need to go back to the nearest kindergarten school. Money spent on ur education seems to be a waste. ![]() |
@ tosinadeda, I think the word stupid is a new word u just learnt from ur adult education centre. Quite impressive that u are now getting more literate than illiterate. Take it easy on the grammar. U know what? I think u have a shallow mind. Foolish is not quite the word that describes ur weak mind so i will use slowpoke. |
I feel stupid cos i am replying to a stupid fellow like u. ![]() How's that for a tongue-in-cheek statement. Drogba was a disgrace in the match for diving unnecessarily and using delaying tactics. He rolled on the floor everytime he's touched and should rather concentrate on his blistering form. He scored a good goal and he got a point for the team but his acrobatic stunts is appaling. |
If u feel disgusted pls eat a fat diiick. U should be more disgusted in ur foolish comments and misguided orientation. U remind me of a chronic case of someone suffering from brain damage. Get a SHRINK or just get a DOG. |
@ Tosinadeda, Drogba dived and got his nose bruised. U must have listened to a radio commentary and not watch the match per se. Where did u watch ur match? Radio LAGOS i guess. U schmuk!!!!!!!!!! |
Chelsea cheated. Too many divings and crunchy tackles. They might meet again in this competition. |
The biggest fluke of the season. He was attempting to cross the ball back to the danger area and he got lucky. Barcelona was grossly unlucky today as they did enough to win the match. Messi has to be the most talented teenage footballer in the solar system. I have heard people say Rooney is fearless but i think Messi is FEARSOME. The way he kept nut-meggin Chelsea's defence in Ashley Cole and Michael Essien was a joy to watch. Barca have made things difficult for themselves now but they should grab 6 points from their next 2 matches. Chelsea made what would have been a great spectacle a disgrace. Drogba and many other players kept diving and causing chaos. Barca wanted to play, Chelski wanted to cause confusion. Deco, Messi and Gudjohnsen gave their best. Who said Dinho is finished as a player? He made Boulahrouz look like a nursery school defender. Dinho shimmied THE CANNIBAL in the most audacious move of the night to set up Eidur for the 2nd goal. If u take out the rugby moves and bookings, i think the match lived up to its billing in thje skills and stealth displayed. Jose's comments after the game is even more hilarious. He wishes to be like Frank Rijkaard because Barca is untouchable. I think Jose has made himself the superstar everyone wants to watch in Chelsea. A match with such an array of world-class stars should have fans wanting to hear from the players but thats not the case. Every living soul @ Camp Nou wants to hear from Mourinho and he never disappoints. |
Barca scores!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! UP BARCELONA Messi is teaching Chelski a lesson here. Drogba is a disgrace |
Get a pregnancy test done. |
If you were asked to pick a starting 11 out of the top four Premiership clubs (Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool & Manchester United), what would your team look like? This is a task asking Nairaland members to choose WITH REASONS a mega-squad mash up of 11 outstanding players out of top 4 Premiership clubs - Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool & Manchester United. MY OWN VIEW: Manager: Sir Alex Ferguson (Manchester United) Facts can be twisted to suit almost any line of thought. Wenger is a better manager than Fergie because he used less money/funds and had immediate success. Fergie is better than Wenger because he had nothing to build upon, and because he forged his career on making lesser players come together and form a team that just could not be beaten and refused to give up. Fergie has recorded a victory over all the top 4 Premiership managers and Wenger hasn't and so on and forth. The real debate for me was Mourinho vs Ferguson, because we’re not talking transfer policies and long-term development, we talking about immediate impact and making disparate elements play together like a great team. Logically it’s a tie, although if I bias it then Ferguson comes out on top because of his experience and because he has mounted more comebacks than Mourinho…I wonder what the Special One would do if Chelsea were 10 points behind United in February? Would he be able to help his team win the Premiership? I wouldn’t bet on anyone else apart from Ferguson managing such a feat. Goalkeeper: Edwin van der Sar (Manchester United) Van der Sar over Lehmann and Reina for his command of the box, superior positioning and aerial ability. Cech over Lehmann and Reina for the same. Cech has faster reflexes, but Van der Sar is more experienced. Who do you pick? I really don’t know, so I’ll succumb to bias and plump for Van der Sar. One of the hardest decisions to make, as nothing separates the two. Cech has been called upon several times to defend his growing status as a top goalie and he has answered critics with equal measures of brilliance and agility. One of the top goalies in the world without a doubt but i am a bit worried about his experience. Some people have argued if Cech would be the same without Chelsea's excellent defensive cover. Czech Republic's 2006 world cup run is a living example. Rightback: Paulo Ferriera(Chelsea) I’m cheating again by naming this Portugese lad at right-back, but leaving him out of the team is folly and his defending instincts make him a strong, marauding full-back. Gary Neville is good going forward than actually defending and also lacks the pace, Eboue is not as defensively solid as Paulo while Finnan and Lauren are not as proven (or as good) as him in all departments (although Eboue is peerless in attacking while Lauren’s positioning is excellent). Boulharouz is also a monster in this position but its too early to judge him. It might sound somehow but i always go for the primary objectives of any player before looking at the secondary objective. Ferriera defends very well and that is what he is paid to do. He is the most under-rated defender in the Premiership and i like his no-nonsense attitude and the fact that he is never afraid to get booked as long as the oppostion does not score. Centrehalf #1: John Terry (Chelsea) Makes the grade because of his willingness to hunt the ball down and take the game to the opposition. His critics say that he gets away with murder but that’s only a small part of the story. He’s not the best defender of the lot, but he gives 200% where everyone else is giving 110%, and that gives him the edge. Neumanja Vidic? He still needs some more time to mould into John Terry. Jamie Carragher is not consistent and Sammy Hyppia is an old-fashioned kind of defender. John Terry edges it by a mile. Centrehalf #2: Rio Ferdinand (Manchester United) A close call between Rio and Toure. Rio’s reputation of lacking concentration is annoyingly justified, but when riled up the defender is unarguably the best the Premiership has seen in a long while. Rio needs to be paired with a solid defender to really perform well (see his performances with Vidic for Manchester United) and he is good captain material as well. Its sad Rio only performs when stung by critics but the best of Rio Ferdinand is better than any Premiership defender. He gave 300% performance against Portugal at the world cup but he could also be an absolute nightmare when he loses concentration. Rio is a genius and rarely breaks a sweat in the defence because the art of defending comes too natural for him. Leftback:Gabriel Heinze (Manchester United) Gabriel Heinze vs Ashley Cole - who would you pick? Cole edges it out going forward, sheer pace and quality crossing, but Heinze is probably more aggressive. Not a fun decision to make on this one. William Gallas? Almost a tie but Heinze gives 1000% as Williams is not a happy player in this position. Heinze links the attack pretty well and has dead-ball qualities especially free-kicks. John Arne Riise, Patrice Evra, Wayne Bridge? They need to put more gritty tackles and the no-nonsense attitude in their game play. Right wing: Cristiano Ronaldo (Manchester United) Pennant? Rosicky? Hleb? SWP? You’re joking, right? Cristiano Ronaldo is the king of the wings in England. His quality is the abiltity to use both feet efficiently and reliably. A pain in any defender's neck on his day. Holding midfielder: Michael Essien (Chelsea) Michael Essien is classy. His work-rate his awesome and should be subjected to a dope test soon. Timely interceptions, energetic, pace and a dynamic team player. He is the only player that INSTANTLY justified his astronomical price-tag @ Chelsea. Essien is better defensively than Alonso, Fabregas and Gilberto Silva, and he gives his team a little extra impetus going forward - something that Makelele and Sissoko seriously lack. Michael Carrick and John O'Shea? They look like muppets/wimps compared to Essien. Essien is Roy Keane and Vieira waxed together, and that’s about as high a compliment that you can give a midfielder. Attacking midfielder: Steven Gerrard (Liverpool) Gerrard is arguably the most talented player in this position. Great Vision, Deft touches and accurate passes stands him out. Cesc Fabregas? He lacks the physical aspect about being a midfielder but has got all other qualities that can match Gerrard. Paul Scholes? Age is not on your side, ginger boy!!!!!!!!!!!! Michael Ballack, Mikel Obi? Too early to judge the new recruits. The juicy part? The old Lampard vs Gerrard debate I’d pick Gerrard because with Ronaldo and Van Persie in the team you have a roving middle-three that can switch around and cause the opposition a lot of problems (and with the front-two that I’m picking, that’s 5 players who can float around). Plus I rate Stevie higher than Frankie. Lampard looks more like a national deception to me. His performance for club compared to country has no correlation at all. He has no visible skills. Cannot dribble, deflected free-kicks here and there-he is simply over-hyped. Put Lampard in any other team apart from Chelsea and u will hardly notice him. Left wing: Van Persie (Arsenal) Robben, Gonzalez, Joe Cole, Rosicky…all four could have made it here, but Van Persie wins out on all the stakes - long shots, ability to play for the team, fabulous free-kicks, excellent crossing ability, etc I think Dutch players are better in the attacking departments than any other country in the world. Van Basten, Dennis Bergkamp, Kluivert, Marc Overmars, Van Nistelrooy, Roy Makaay, Van Hooidjonk, Klaas Huntelaar etc. The list goes on and on. It’s tough to leave out Ryan Giggs here, but age is not in his favor. Giggsy has been running the wings for 14 years and he still runs faster than most lads younger than him. Arjen Robben needs to learn more to be a team player. His world cup exploits let him down. His 1st season at Chelsea was remarkable and he seems to deteriorate each time he plays. Joe Cole? Very tough to leave him out but Van Persie is more clinical about his business. Cole sometimes try tricks he doesn't even know about hoping it will work out. Rosicky? Too early to comment on him but he has got the prospects. Rocket-propelled shots and excellent team play. Striker #1: Thierry Henry (Arsenal) No questions. Louis Saha needs at least 12 months of comprehensive striking lessons from his countryman. Drogba? More physical but lacks goal sense. Drogba makes difficult chances look easy BUT he makes easy chances extremely difficult for himself. Shevchenko? Far cry from what he was at Milan. Bellamy has got pace and skills but he is still 2 notches below Henry in predatory instincts. Henry feeds on the flesh of weak defenders and goal-keepers. Striker #2: Wayne Rooney (Manchester United) Once again, no questions. Dirk Kuyt? A very complete striker but still a newbie. Lets see how he copes with the Premiership winter and pressure. Final Picks: Formation: 4-4-2 Manager: Ferguson Team: Van der Sar, Ferreira, Terry, Ferdinand, Heinze, Ronaldo, Essien, Gerrard, Van Persie, Henry, Rooney Scores: Arsenal (2), Chelsea (3), Manchester United (5), Liverpool (1). WHAT IS YOUR PICK? Please share your views. Biased selections are very welcome!!!!!!!!! |
