I also have my concerns as per that ad.

She didn't have to say that,I doubt it was scripted.

No matter how bad your country is,you don't say such things. . .

Having said that everybody is certainly free to say what they want as long as no law is broken.

Everyone knows Nuhu Ribadu will be the ideal candidate/winner.

I think this topic should be 'stickied'.

Nice one.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Liverpool F.C Fans Zone - the Mighty Reds ! by Jairzinho(m): 5:04pm On Jul 30, 2010
I disagree. . . . The club is clearly English. . .no need to 'anglicise'.

The fact is due to our poor seasonn last time around + the club being up for sale & little guarantee of transfer funds,we weren't exactly the most attractive club for continental managers.

Roy's a good choice any day. . . lets not belittle his abilities by insinuating some kind of affirmative action. .

Politics / Re: Uk Police Mistake Leads To Raid On Nigerian Diplomat’s Home by Jairzinho(m): 6:00pm On Jun 29, 2010
heryyy:

Police detectives have admitted they raided the home of the Nigerian High Commissioner to the UK, Dalhatu Sarki Tafida, in search of drugs, after mistaking the heat given off by a heating system for the tell-tale signs of a cannabis factory.

The officers searched the home of Mr. Tafida after a police helicopter, using thermal imaging equipment, spotted what was described as a higher than normal heat signature in the roof of the property, mistaking the heat plume as a sign that the property had been converted into a cannabis factory.

Drugs farms often use high-powered lights, which give off huge amounts of heat to aid the growth of the illegal crop. A warrant was obtained to search the residence in Hendon Way, Hendon, but the officers traced the heat source to the building's central heating system.

A police spokeswoman said: "We can confirm a warrant to search for cannabis plants was executed at a home in north London on June 17, by officers acting on information from a Met unit. There were no drugs found and no arrests made. Further enquiries traced the heat source to the heating system."

A spokesman for the Nigerian High Commission, addressing journalists, stated that although the operation could have been interpreted as a violation of diplomatic conventions, the High Commission would not be taking the matter to the "extreme". He added: "We accept the explanation the helicopter detected something, but that these things don't necessarily work with fine precision."

I wonder why we waste so much money ,energy & attention on football ?  undecided

The current coach earns over N10m a month ,minus other expenses and bribes.

There's no light in 80% of the homes in nigeria as we speak.  ,   shocked shocked

Are we running mad a country or something ?  undecided

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Rafa Benitez to Succeed Sir Alex Chapman Ferguson? by Jairzinho(m): 5:44pm On Apr 22, 2010
I think the question of who should succeed Alex depends on the long term plan of the club.

If they plan to bring the hugely successful reign of AF to a close & attempt to rebuild another dynasty like Alex did from scratch, . . . . .then they could go for mid of the range coaches with good potential for the long term like,Roy Keane tho I doubt he has the temperament for this ,Steve Bruce , Steve McClaren & Mark Hughes all have worked with Alex at MU at one time or the other !

However, I doubt the fans will be ready to go 2 or 3 seasons w/out titles. . .hence the 2nd option- which would entail bringing in an already successful confident & experienced Mgr like Mourinho,Capello, del Bosque. . . . but this would obviously be for the short run . . .as these guys obviously have their own plans for the mid & long term future.

Capello,Del Bosque want to retire, Mourinho wants to be the 1st to win the Championship in Portugal, England,Italy &Spain and ultimately manage his country. . .

So it really depends on what the club & its debtor-owners want smiley

Sorry to add this but i think that attitude is more pronounced in SW nigeria than SS let alone SE.

Too much enjoyment and diplomacy.

Not necessarily. The Igbos are businessmen and also care about their financial dealings. Good things of life doesn't refer only to parties etc.

MEND are towing this path & are getting the much needed attention & respect they deserve.

The moment malams realise they may lose all if they continue to insist on this Sharia/Hisbah rubbish, they'll be forced to choose between the future or the past. . . & the rational, educated ones will rise up.

But until then. . . . . SORRY,SORRY O !

when people talka about double standards in nigeria this is what u get.

There's nothing like double standards. . . the muslim malams are ready to DIE for their beliefs, but southerners(like me) are too interested in the good things of life hence the 'double standards'.

They want to be goverened like SAUDI ARABIA & are prepared to fight & die for it. !!

On the Arabs Israeli issue ,please find quotes from the link you provided

TEL AVIV, Nov 11, 2008 (IPS) - The Israeli government has begun to actively promote voluntary army service for Israeli Arabs. The Knesset, the Israeli parliament, is meanwhile considering plans to make civil service compulsory for all Israeli citizens, including Israeli Arabs.
. . . . . . .
In the same week that the report was published in Haaretz, Israeli Interior Minister Meir Sheetrit called upon the Arab sector to join the civil or military service. At a Jewish-Arab conference on economic development, Sheetrit made a controversial remark about the first prime minister of Israel. "I believe that Ben Gurion made a big mistake," he said. "He brought the Arabs into a ghetto, a shutdown, when he decided not to enlist them to the army.

"We all live in one country, we're all in the same boat. Israeli citizens need to be equal in every aspect, in their rights, and their obligations. Our forefathers' days have ended. We are living in a modern state, in the 21st century."

The move to include Israeli Arabs in the army is the government's way to reduce future tensions between Jewish and Arab residents of Israel. But not everyone is sure it can work

For the Arabs its voluntary, but for the Jews its COMPULSORY. There are both 1st class citizens obviously, even the interior minister agrees with you tongue

Imagine if the Nigerian constitution said NYSC was COMPULSORY for Hausa people ,but VOLUNTARY for Yoruba ,Ndigbo? undecided
Politics / Re: Guards Brigade Commander Only Answers To President—ex-security Chief by Jairzinho(m): 12:50pm On Mar 03, 2010
He has a point. when the NORTHERN CHRISTIAN LEADERS  speak,no matter how much they say there are neutral-its with a christian flavour. . .& thats why they should avoid commenting on political issues (as religious leaders or groups).

If NORTHERN MUSLIMS leaders had asked Goodluck,Chief of defence staff,Senate president or any other Christian in hgh office to resign, most would read religious undertones to it.

So we need to be careful, all Nigerians cherish their religious beliefs ,guard it seriously & are extremely sensitive about it tending towards hysteria/paranoia if you ask me  grin   !!
