The main crux of the matter is that the manner through which the Igbos are going about their agitations through their newfound current leadership (IPOB/Kanu) is irritating a lot of Nigerians to the extent that a group, Arewa You, were sufficiently motivated to take reprisal action.

On the contrary, so far no one has threaten the Igbos with violence; the quit notice is unfortunately being mistaken as a threat of violence, but it isn't true; however, it is the Igbo movement, IPOB through Kanu, that has been threatening the rest of Nigerian with death and violence.
