Education › Re: Does First Class Degree Guarantee One A Job? by Jarus(m): 4:09pm On May 10, 2020 |
All the first class in my circle are doing well, except one that chose not to be materially inclined so opted to be an alfa.
From Shell to Chevron, they are there.
One of them was struggling to raise N17k school fees in our final year in 2005/2006. He now owns at least 3 houses, one in Lekki.
Let nobody deceive you that first class is a waste. Hustle for it, but make sure you can defend it. |

ThreeBlackBird: Bros, toto can't get you a first class. No be only am get toto. The best you'll enjoy is the usual Ds and Es. I understand that envious men would try to discredit her effort but it's fine. Exactly, you need to score A in at least 70% of your courses from year 1 to 4 or 5 before making a first class. That means you need to sleep with 70% of your lecturers from year 1 to 5. It doesn’t make sense. Most students that sleep with lecturers do so not to fail a course or not have carry over, not not to make A. |

oyeb15: yea but not private universities first-class. Infact, first-class get levels... UI, OAU ,UNILAG and ILORIN first-class
State Universities First-class
Northern Universities First-class
Private Universities First-class.
First-class of private universities in Nigeria is equivalent to 2:2 or third class in university of Ibadan.
Moreover, its those 'Olodos' in the Universities that use to achieve quickly. My olodo mate in school have become Oga in FRSC when am still trying to do recruitment. Infact, he's d one serving us punishment.
Getting good job is connection and 'Ori'. My 2:1 has been self employed since 10years. This is not correct. The job market does not care. Where the job requirements specify 2:1 and above, a 2:1 grad of a private university will be shortlisted while the 2:2 grad of a federal public university will not be shortlisted. Don’t let anybody deceive you that your 2:2 in OAU or UNILAG is equivalent to First Class in Babcock or Madonna. |

rhames: Search for jobs in the multilateral agencies or international organizations because they appreciate first-class than our system which appreciates mediocrity and promotes nepotism. They wil better appreciate your services. It is not a matter of system. Nobody will hand you job just because you had a first class. You will be invited for tests and interviews. If a 2:1 does better than you in the test or interview and gets the job ahead of you, you can’t blame the system for that. |
Education › Re: Does First Class Degree Guarantee One A Job? by Jarus(m): 3:27pm On May 10, 2020 |
It does not guarantee you a job but it gets you shortlisted for many job tests.
It is left for you to pass the test and interview. If you don’t pass the tests and interviews, your first class wont help.
I had a first myself. |

redsun: There is a claim here in the UK that black people are four times more likely to die of the virus than white people, especially those at the frontline and men.
And it makes me wonder why Africans are not dying in Africa. Could it be the weather, the food, habits, abject poverty or deprivation? Africans are dying. It’s a matter of ratio. Where there are 200k cases and 10k died, not so different from where there are 4k cases and 150 died. |

The truth is that most of this foreign university has no standard in admitting students, once u have money enough to pay school fees they will just offer u admission on a platter of good gold. Its easier to get admission in most foreign university like University of Miami than any southern federal university
Meanwhile I would love to know her course of study and CGPA Since when did father’s “occupation” have anything to do with admission into university? |

Education › Re: Does A Masters Degree Guarantee Jobs? by Jarus(m): 12:24pm On May 06, 2020 |
Guarantee is a strong word. Helpful the better word.
No certificate guarantees job. You still need to convince the recruiter, you need to defend it. No one will just hand you job just because you have masters.
But it can be an edge. It can be helpful. It can get you shortlisted for many job positions, especially in international organisations where masters is almost always a requirement. It is left for you to do well at the selection process after the shortlist. |

Health › Re: Lagos Confirms One Coronavirus Death by Jarus(m): 8:25pm On May 05, 2020 |
neoclassical: Anybody that dies in a hospital these days, especially of malaria related ailment automatically died of Coronavirus. I am not saying there is no Coronavirus, but once you have fever or malaria, chances are that you will test positive fro Coronavirus. Some deaths that are attributed to Covid-19 these days are actually not the cause. This is the pure truth. Oga, this news says one person died of coronavirus in Lagos today. If all deaths are now attributed to coronavirus, are you saying it is only one person that died in Lagos hospitals today? Why is it difficult for people to reason like this? |

MyVILLAGEpeople: What if it's something else that killed him ??. They now attributes all deaths to Covid 19. Besides this Covid 19 in Nigeria is a big scam. Government has seen it as an avenue to loot as usual. The pictures circulating yesterday actually shows people don't believe in it. They attribute all deaths to coronavirus? From NCDC daily update, less than 100 people have died from coronavirus, are you saying less than 100 people have died in Nigeria in the last two months? |
