Education › Re: 10 Common Grammatical Blunders You Should Endeavour To Avoid by Jarus(m): 5:38pm On Aug 04, 2016 |
2) Answering a question with just a simple YES or NO only. This is very wrong. Example1: 'Do you work on Sundays'? Instead of answering 'No', you should say 'No, I don't'. Example2: 'Do you know him'? Instead of saying just 'Yes' if you know who the first speaker is referring to, you should say 'Yes, I do'. That makes it a complete answer. Answering question with "yes" or "no" is not "grammatical blunder" as your title says. You may say it is not the best way to answer someone, but it is not a blunder. It's perfectly grammatically correct. |

Byko899: still do not know what is wrong with our Nigerian youths, the truth is she traveled with a diplomatic passport and not only that, and am sure she must have lobbied US press to avoid raising dust. is very unfortunate we youths instead of uniting against the corruption going on in this country ,we choose to be a tool for ethnic politics which benefits only our corrupt official. The norths that are making noise are the worst victim of corruption in this country,I did my youth service there and when compared to south is like comparing Nigeria with south Africa, that is the honest truth, if the so called IPOB or MOSSOB or Avengers eat twice in a day, just know that a northerner actually eat nothing that day.that is the fact, am not talking out of sentiment,is the reality I witness first hand. I am from the so called Biafra and the truth is I do not want biafra ,never supported them because I see big Nigeria as a large market for my business, the bigger the country the richer the business men which are mostly ibo's,if you check Biafra map,we re too small for any reasonable business, that is the truth.and God has blessed us with that business talent so that we can conquer the entire country with it,which has also proved to be working. the political class in the north has failed and they have proved to be the most corrupt ,instead of the educated youths to unite against this menace, we allowed ethnicity to be getting hold of us,shame on all of us,this can never happen in wale Soyinka time. I give up. |

pippimp: Agreed. Everything in Nigeria was at par with world standards in the 60's, but for some reason, Nigeria is still stuck in that era. And we still lay claim to appellations of 60s-70s that are no longer valid today. |
Education › Re: OAU: The Most Beautiful Estate Among Nigerian Universities by Jarus(m): 8:16pm On Jul 31, 2016 |
pippimp: Depending on who's using it. Without even using google, common sense should tell any normal human being that the most beautiful university would be in South Africa and using google it narrows it down to university of cape town. How can you even mention any university in Nigeria considering the fact that Nigerians lack any sort of maintenance culture. For something to be beautiful, it has to be maintained. Your problem is the problem most Nigerians have. They lack exposure of any kind, or experience outside the limitations of Nigeria, which is why they are easily dazzled with mediocrity. You need to start traveling the world and you will realize that Nigeria has nothing. Except food. The picture below is a sample of University of cape town. Do you still have the same opinion that OAU is the most beautiful in Africa? Actually, when it was built in the 60s, up till 80s, it was officially rated the Most Beautiful Campus in Africa and one of the Top 25 Most Beautiful Estates in the World. Lack of maintenance and the fact that the world has gone beyond that, meant it cannot lay claim to that ranking again. Obviously, OAU cannot be the most beautiful campus in Africa today. But it used to be and I don't think it has lost that status in Nigeria. ABU comes close. I have been to ABU and OAU and I can say OAU slightly edges out ABU. I have heard of Covenant University too. I'm an alumnus of OAU. |

When did the scavengers start their drama? This year! When did Tompolo go into hiding? This year.
Weren't states owing salary long before then? Since last year!
Non payment of salary is purely about low oil prices.... Nothing else attached..
However whatever magic happened in June, God will sustain it, hatred does not fill stomachs... hate Buhari to your heart's delight but never lose sight of the fact that old pensioners are dying... No magic happened in June. June is the deadline for filing and payment(of first instalment) of Companies Income Tax. This has always been the case. Maybe the fear of Fowler made more companies comply with the June deadline, but June has always been the deadline for first instalment. |

Car Talk › Re: Abandoned Bentley Gt Spotted In Lagos (pic) by Jarus(m): 10:28pm On Jul 24, 2016 |
InvertedHammer: / People are talking because this one made the news. Go to mechanic workshops around Nigeria, you will see numerous high end vehicles abandoned there. Some people buy vehicles because a particular brand name is en vogue. One transmission problem or engine problem could send the owner back a couple of millions if you add the "trial and error" of mechanics in Nigeria.
I have seen people go through frustrations with their cars in developed countries because of dealerships' inability to troubleshoot and fix their car problems. One can only imagine what mechanics in Nigeria will do to such vehicles. Folks buy very expensive vehicles and drive it once in a month because of the cost of maintenance. What's the point buying such a car? Just for a bragging right?
They look good while on the road but what the owner is going through is what most admirers do not know. I know a few people who had abandoned cars at a mechanic workshop somewhere. Like I always say, cars are pain the rear end. \ I got a tokunboh RR in 2014. It had transmission issue that refused to get solved. Changed the entire gear system twice at 350k each (cost of buying plus fixing cost) within 3 months. That's 700k alone. Routine servicing (special oil, booster, this, that) alone, you spend 50k plus, you dont want to use roadside mechanic but auto companies (that carge exorbitant price). At a time, my wife called me and told me "Are you sure it's not this car you're working for?" Nobody told me before I put "for sale" on the car. I realized the hard way that buying these cars is not as much problem as maintaining. |

so guys I was going through my instagram looking for funny videos
I stumbled on this page @gidicar (as a car fanatics) I went through their post then I stumbled on this pic of an abandoned Bentley laying helplessly on the street of Lagos
I was wondering what sort of thing is this ??
could this be as a result of too much money ??
or could this be a result of stupidity??
or could it be as a result of what?? infact I'm confused
Mennn! I must make money in this life ooo and also every nairalander God bless our hustle amen
imagine one mans food is truly another mans poison Maintenance. Buying all these cars is not as much poroblem as maintaining them. All these celebrities that hit big jobs and buy these fancy cars, find it difficult to maintain. Crazily expensive parts etc. Problem getting capable mechanic to fix. They keep doing trial and error and you get frustrated after spending money. If you no chop well, you will end up spending all your life income on those cars. |
Properties › Re: I Think I'm Being Cheated By A Building Contractor. by Jarus(m): 2:30pm On Jul 24, 2016 |
SirJeffry: Guys please I need advice and suggestions. There's this three-bedroom bungalow I'm building in my mum village through a cousin who is a building contractor. Aside fencing the property which is about two plots, I have put in approximately N2.5m yet the house is still on "linter" level. When I became mad about it, my cousin told me he put in a lot in building "sucker pit" and leveling the bad landscape.
Now I sent him N1m for him to do the roofing, conduit wiring and possibly plastering but he just sent me a text asking for more money for the same purpose.
Please, is he trying to drain me or are things that costly now that a 3bedroom house in a village takes up to N5m to build. Oga, it is wrong to assume because a house is in the village, it will be very cheap to do. Apart from land cost, every other thing will be the same price. In fact some things will be more expensive in the village due to transoport cost from the city. If I remove the cost of land, what I spent to build my village house almost doubles what I spent to do the Lagos project. There is no way 5m will complete a 3-bedroom except you want to use zinc roof and just not plaster. By the way, it is hardly possible in Nigeria not to be duped by contractor, family or no family (except parents). |
