Not exactly dreaming of them, but I fancy these companies Tier 1 (For the perks and learning opportunity) McKinsey and co Apple Goldman Sachs Tier 2 (For the pay) Chevron Total E&P |
Samakus:You know good things. |
lannre:Sms me on 08061198625 for discussions. |
Good story. Probably the best I've read on this new style of "10 things..." |
DisGuy:No mind these our journalists and bloggers jare |
goldbim:There are some issues in their family (lawyer, wives etc). But we didn't want to dwell on their private family matters. We just concentrated on helping the woman in our own little way. |
Shortyy:Uniqueness - that's the spirit. |
The lady's account sounds believable. The organizer's was too disjointed and incoherent, with some questions that don't say anything against the accusation. Obviously, the whole thing was a scam. |
If this is true, then I'm really disappointed in DSS. Too bad Change hasn't reached DSS that has always been tool of ruling government. That's very petty. |
yorex2011:Yes. Do you think I share jobs? |
A brother that is not just a Bsc holder, but also an MBA holder with family started with 36k. Don't know how much he earns now, but I know it's less less than 50k. It's a choice between going for what is available and sitting at home. |
I thought wailers say Punch na APC paper. It is only when tey report negatively about GEJ that they attack the messenger. By the way, I share Punch's view. |
It may be opportunity for Arik. |
TimothyNkenu:Certificate to be given to Yobo after primary school. |
Erums:Why are you spelling Uncle as "unkle"? What are you abbreviating or saving? |
egokudiowomoney:Preparation for future competitions cannot be "excess". |
We stated who we want: ND holders. If any graduate applies, then that's not our problem. Or is it? |
eBillionaire:My driver earned more than that. And it's because I, Jarus, can afford it. JarusHub as a distinct entity, different from its owners, cannot afford more than 15k for an office assistant. I cannot use my personal salary to pay business expense. The business has to finance its expense. Someone will also consider your 40k too small for a cleaner. |
Cutehector:It's not a new position. 2 people have done it in the past, lasting a year. They ended up better for it and the experience they gained from us aided their crossing to better places, which we encourage. One quit because he was going for NYS9n the other because he got Access Bank job which we encouraged her on. By the way, we have more than 20 applications already - all graduates, contray to the ND that we requested. It's not a matter of stingy boss by the way. No business pays more than it can afford or more than it makes. |
futurewise11:Diamond Bank taht makes billions of Naira annually pays 31k. A startup that is just a small office wants to pay half of what a bank is paying. I think that vindicates us. No big deal in workload. There are many days thhat he wont even ghave anything to do. Look, the candidate tends to benefit more from us than what we gain from him/her. Our past employees have used. They learnt from using as stepping stones to better opporunities. He gets trained on interview taking etc, we even encourage and find better jobs for the candidates through our network. |
Cutehector:Telll me how many jobs (even in top companies) pay more than 20k to ND hoders? |
I have seen lots of negative comments here based on this advert posted by my startup, JarusHub, and thought it necessary to make some clarifications, not because it will stop some people from throwing the tantrums, but because I consider it a moral duty to post here: 1, This is a startup that is just getting its footing and sometimes makes as low as N30,000 per month. So you want us to use all our monthly turnover to pay Admin Assistant alone? I thought a company prices its labour based on what it can afford? 2, Our ad clearly states that ND is preferred. How many standard organizations pay more than 20k to ND holders on industrial training? A company I used to work for, an oil company, pays IT 20k. So you want us to pay more than a multi-million dollar company to ND holders? 3, The benefit to the potential canidates goes beyond the money value. We're a career and employability skills development firm. Imagine what a young man or lady working with us will gain by seeing us coach clients for interview, prepare CV/cover for people, teaching in graduate finishing academy. For us, the learning opportunity is more than the monetary reward. The last employee that did the job for us currently works for Access Bank anyway. The one before her is now writing ICAN exams due to the exposure/motivation he got from working with us. 4, We stated that we prefer someone living close to our office in Yaba to minimize transport costs. 5, Most of the duties outlined above are things the Assistant can even do on phone/whatsapp etc. It's not a structured workplace where you're strictly expected to be at your desk by so so time. All these do not mean 15k is a great salary, but you also need to be fair to us as a small startup that is still finding its feet. |
Vado:Oh, Balle, my Balle. Wish I have opportunity to go there again! |
pendusky:Lol. Saga na big boy o.Na hin fit employ me sef. |
Teddeebear:Jarus, an individual, is different from JarusHub, a firm. Thanks for the compliment to Jarus, but there is a difference between a private and a legal entity (company). |
I came to check whether Ilorin will be mentioned. I was right. I agree. I agree with Uyo too. But Abuja? I would have thought the fear that bomb can go off almost anywhere will rule it out. |
1, My first day at my first job (a pre-NYSC job in an investment management firm in VI. Very strange to me. That was my first exposure to corporate Lagos as a first graduate. The environment looked too "artificial" with everyone speaking fonee. Being someone that was raised in ilu oke (countryside), I was nervous on how to fit into the environment. I was shown around by an HR lady. My system was set up. I was given some materials to read. One or two persons in the department came to talk to me about the department. During lunchtime, i was shown the lunch room. Free lunch. Sumptuous varieties. As if that not enough, dessert was served after lunch. Then in the evening, around 5pm, one lady was going around distributing chocolates and candies. For my mind, I dey think "won gbadun n'iyayin fa (dem dey enjoy here o)". Lol. Of course, I was also thinking of month end to collect my first salary. 2, My first day at my second job (first permanent job - an indigenous downstream oil company) I wasn't so apprehensive here. I was shown around as usual. I saw people speaking Yoruba in office. That gave me some confidence that this wasn't as bam as my first job. Lol. I also saw that their dressing wasn't as strict as the investment firm. But hey, no free lunch here unlike the first! My system was set up and I was given a desk, a big desk. Needless to say I spent almost all day browsing Nairaland. I asked the lady colleague that sat in front of me a couple of questions. She was nice. 3, My first day at my 3rd job (an indigenous usptream oil company with foreign flavour) I joined here as an experienced hire in their expansion phase. No anxiety. Of course, the pay being twice my pay at my last employment, I was looking forward to the pay day right from Day 1. No free lunch here too. Saw a couple of oyinbo expatriates. First time working with non-Asian expatriates. I settled down very quickly here and made friends almost from Day 1. |
I prefer departmental politics. |
I have a serious phobia for road travel. But what will be will surely be. May God comfort the family. |
NwaNimo1:Can't a German be Muslim? |
A knock out. I like the humour. ![]() |
