Thanks for the reminder brother. Having read quite much about handling trials the Islamic way, alhamdulilah, I've been finding succour in Qur'an and the Prophet's examples. Last year, my wife had 2 miscarriages and an auto-accident, and she was somehow distraught and muttered 'but we worship God'. I found that very annoying and told 'if Prophet Mohammed(SAW) could lose children in his lifetime, who are we to say we worship God and don't expect any misfortune. After all, we don't do up to 1/1000 of Prophet's worship' I told her never to utter that again and was visibly angry at her. Today, we are proud parent of a baby girl, in addition to many other good things that have happened to us this year. May almighty Allah not lay upon us burden more than we can bear. I think a good knowledge of Islamic teaching can be very soothing in hard times. |
You can borrow to buy land, to build a house but don't borrow to buy a car except like 50-100k you need to augment the cost. |
DatNiggaAk: I beg to disagree sir. Except your routine is office-home, home-office. A good low fuel consuming car will cost you less than taking public transport. not to mention the convenience it offers when you have goods/stuff/load to carry.I use an SUV, live in Ajah and work in VI. I spend an average of 2k per day on fuel. A neighbour that doesn't have a car spends N500 for same trip(to and fro). Sometimes sef, I prefer to drop my car at home and find my way to office by public transport. Reason: if I was getting late, I can easily come down from a public bus and hop a bike. Sometimes, in the midst of the traffic and all those nonsense on road, I feel like dumping my car and taking bike or public transport. Apart from the social aspect of owning a car, I don't see any big deal in not owning, especially for one with less than 100k income. I have colleagues earning up to 300k, but don't have car. |
bajugbajug: hello nairalanders, am a civil servant with a monthly salary of btw 70k and 80k and also have access to loan of about 700k.Covering your 50km a day by public transport, I believe, is cheaper than owning a car of your own. To make matters worse, you want to borrow to purchase the car. My candid advice: forget it for now. |
As a Finance person in the sector, I'm signing in. IKm not a big fish though. |
Jarus: You dey mind Vanguard |
You dey mind Vangaurd ![]() |
I'm from the North Central but I look at the competence of the candidates, not where he comes from. From all the names being bandied around, here is my preference 1, Fashola (Great administrator, but may not be able to solve the cankerworm that Corruption is) 2, Buhari (still believes in this man as capable of returning Nigeria to sanity but age is the issue) 3, Mark (I see this guy making headway in solving BH problem - he has this mediation and negotiation skills) |
JeSoul: ah ah, are you saying I wasn't nice before?Outsiders that respect the rules and sensibilities of the hosts. After all, Toba and Aloy emeka frequent the section and don't get banned. |
Lol...for some reasons I cannot clearly explain, I've always had great respect for Becomrich; the defunt NigerSat1 founder.
Bro, you still dey NL? Long time. |
moderatorr: 1. OP is criticizing GEJ and yet claiming he is not one the most criticized. Am afraid, @OP's article brings him really close. You definitely don't know who the writer is. And anyone who doesn't know who Segun Adeniyi is has no business discussing Nigerian politics. |
Excellent article. Naked truth. Segun is gradually winning his way back into my heart. |
The next time I flew at all after that Dana incidence my heart was beating at unprecedented pace. And that wasn't Dana o. I'm not ready to undergo the mental discomfort, if not for any other thing. |
Nice one, GEJ. |
Omho, I no fit near Dana o. I hope the psychology that will keep passengers away from them will not eventually return them to ground. |
obowunmi: @ Jarus: what if your parents didn't like her? Would you have proceeded with the relationship anyway? My parents weren't so comfortable with a couple of them before her, but they couldn't tell me directly(not wanting to directly interfere), and to make matters easier, it didn't work out on personal levels. |
Security personnel overhauled thrice. President angry that there were moles in the Villa, and another 'mole' leaking the president's anger to the press again. |
All I want is a performer. Lagos has always been blessed with above average governors(Jakande, Marwa, even Tinubu, and now Fashola. No matter the issue one has with them, one can't take away the fact that, by Nigerian standards, these guys performed above average, maybe due to teh resources avai;able to them. I hope whoever takes over from BRF also continue with the good works. I don't know much about Hakeem Muri-Okunola but I think Muiz Banire has proved himself as an outstanding commissioner (most of Tinubu's commissioners are performers anyway - I don't know where on earth he digs out these guys, so my instinct tells me he will do decent BRF's successor. Olohunnimbe Mamora is also good enough for teh position but I don't think he's in Tinubu's inner circle, which may jeopardise his chance. On a lighter note, this Hakeem na fine boy sha ![]() |
Most of the girls I met before her lacked one or two fundamental things. Beautiful, humble, trying religious-wise, she still wasn't 100% the standards I set for myself, and it took some time before I knew my 100% lady was only available in Mars. So when I realized she got more than the fundamentals, I settled for her. Shortly after, met another person(a Nairalander) that almost threw me into confusion. But to God be the glory - she is just an epitome of the qualities I had longed for in my woman. No regrets at all. I think prayer (especially by my parents)was very key because, she is all my parents had always wished for and prayed for me. |
Get well soon, Madam. Health is not something I play politics with. |
Timobaty: I prefer VM to IK, vm is a gud striker dat can score at all time while ik alway score lucky goals.IK scores 'lucky' goals, have you been watching from a black and white TV? |
Chinom: The real beautiful homes in Nigeria are country homes built by rich Nigerians. I have been to somebody's home in the village and i thought i landed at the Garden of Eden. Drive in alone was about half a kilometer, lined up with well kept trees.Abi o. All these Lekki and Banana Island houses are not as beautiful as Chief Adesoye's countryhome in Offa. Ditto for Dr Femi Adekanye's countryhome. |
bilms: nawa 4 this Jarus self..How this topic take contribute to your sleepless night?1, Count the number of times you typed my name up there and see how it doesn't concern me 2, You're spamming the forum, by duplicating threads, which, as the Mod, I should even punish you for, but waived it. |
Anonmo - sweet potato (Offa, Kwara state) |
Jarus: Yeah, same I took Taxi for N200 in Abuja for a distance N2000 can't pay in Taxi. Lagos is more expensive for tranportation.PH appears to be at par with, or a little below, Lagos in terms of accommodation, but cost of basic things like food, etc are more expensive. |
gbolahan1: I was in Abuja in 2010 and took a taxi for 250 naira, thats practically impossible in any part of Lagos.Yeah, same I took Taxi for N200 in Abuja for a distance N2000 can't pay in Taxi. Lagos is more expensive for tranportation. But when it comes to accommodation, Abuja is way more expensive. |
You opened same topic last week and it got a miserable acceptance. The topic died a natural death. Rather than resuscitate it, even by soliloquising a la Becomrich, you opened another one here, which is also not creative enough to attract a single response except you bumping the thread up every hour. Na by force to open thread. Why not go to the main thread and drop your comment, rather than spam the forum which same post. Na wa o |
ode remo: what the 4k is wrong with obudu raunch ? cant she rest there.Politics apart, there is no thing wrong in taking time out of the country to rest. Even in private sector, many people holiday outside Nigeria. If she decides to go to Obudu, better; but I don't see anything wrong in going abroad to rest. |
maclatunji: I think there is only one thing left unattended to arising from this thread.I hope Jarus will attend to it or probably explain to the interested parties why it may no longer be feasible. I am unstickying this thread till next year Insha Allah. Too many stickied threads in this section.I have not forgotten. Still have it in mind. |
