@jarus, my fear is leaving without zero work experince for msc, and from the responses av gotten, it seems uni of porthmouth is not all dat highly rated, wat I intend to do now is to work for 3years at access then enroll for Ican, so in 3years time, I wud av gained 3years experience and av ican too before I zoom out of the country for my master in a much better university than porthmouth. But I have a question for u jarus, between an msc finance and MBA (finance), which one is better ?? Thanks
That seems fair enough: ICAN plus experience before moving out. MBA Finance vs Msc Finance: I don't think there is a fit-all answer to this, as it will depend on your personal plans. I'm currently doing MBA though. |
dasparrow: @PostThere is something called country home. All the rich people I know from my town have their country homes(located in their village) bigger than their Lagos and Abuja homes. I can explain 3 reasons for this 1, It is African tradition 2, Land is far cheaper in your village than the city and you can decide to buy as many acres as you want 3, With 100m for example you can build a palatial home in your village, same amount can hardly buy Land in exquisite part of the city where you, as a rich man, will want to stay in Lagos or Abuja. I know a CEO, whose house in Lagos(located in Thomas Estate, Ajah) is not as big as 1/10th of his countryhome in Kwara(which I also know) but a valuer will value the Lagos home higher. 4, Many rich Nigerians retire to their village/hometown after many years in the city to rest(say after attaining 65-70). This is your final home and you will want to do it well. This head lives in a rented flat in part of Lagos that is not even Grade A, but, to God be the glory, almost completing his conutryhome in the village. That's the sociology of big houses in the villages. |
Doubt this can be the biggest/most beautiful mansion in Nigeria. Chief Adesoye's Olohunkuse House in Offa (Kwara state) compares this. |

AjanleKoko: I didn't want it to seem like I got beef.I wonder too o. Msc. . . . Then job fiam, managerial for that matter! With no experience, Msc hardly means much. I have a lot UK Msc holding friends that went immediately after our first degree and came back looking for entry level job again. That said, I'll take an Msc over an Access bank job, if I'm comfortable enough and got funding from my parents. But if I'm not so comfortable, I will take the job and consider Msc later. |

I exhausted my 50k official monthly credit limit, for the first time last month. The instantaneity offered by phone call just makes it no 1 means of communication still(after face-to-face conversation of course) |
livapul86: Sir, Did you get my mite of support? Wishing the young man speedy recovery and back to a good life again. One 2k seen but payer not yet confirmed. Guess it's you. Thanks boss |
Good luck guys. I fully endorse this scheme. I have written on it and spoken with Dangote top management on it. I have a special invitation by Dangote HR for briefing on how they want to run the scheme, after they saw saw my endorsement. I believe this is better than these guys being at home without any jobs. |
I get the news in the mainstream media, and the analyses here. |
Throughout my secondary school days, I trusted only one Barber and travelled, bypassing more than 10 other barbers, to get a haircut. But the place not being a big city, the distance wasn't that long: 2km |
Billyonaire: so the Moon is becoming a religious significance? Na wa oThe same reason SUN determines day and night. 6:15pm is night if sun has fully set by that time and and it evening if sun hasn't set by then. We work with nature. |
@globechamp, tanx for d advise, u are very right, getting a job in dis country is becoming increasingly difficult by d day, av finished my nysc since october last year and yet no job, dat was y I decided to further my studies with msc finance in uk since no job was forth coming, but to my surprise, I finally go sumtin @ access bank @jarus, tanx for response, 1. My dad is capable of fully funding my msc program and as regards d age issue, I don't tink age is on my side again, am 24yrs already, and am a woman, so it's marriage dat is of paramount important to me rite now, my fear is dat if I decline dis access bank job and go for d msc abroad, it might not be easy to get a job right away, only God knows how long I wud av to wait to get a job after my msc
Follow your mind then. Take the job. You may go for your masters after like 3 years experience. You shouldn't have problem with getting another job when you come back, with Msc plus 3 years experience. |
Hi all, I am presently in a dilemma rite now, am through with access bank recruitment stages, and am just waiting to resume for their trainning school, on the otherhand, I have also gained admission into university of porthsmouth in uk to study msc finance, I don't know d one to choose between the both, pls house I need ur advise Tanimola22, jarus,mr ajanlekoko etc pls advise me oooooooooo Tanx N:B, am a 2.1 graduate in Economics
2:1 Economics plus Msc Finance is a good combination. There are a number of questions around here: Can you comfortably fund the Msc? Do you still have age on your side? If the answers to those are yes, I would consider going, simply because I don't rate bank jobs in Nigeria that high, much less an unstable Access Bank. Another pro of going is, you have a broader range of jobs you can apply and be considered for when you're back. The cons however are: 1, if you come back, it is not automatic that you will get job immediately. 2, Your Msc may not make any difference in terms of pay/level as most coys will still consider you for entry level position (what your Bsc Econs would have also earned you) If it were an oil coy or related job, I will advise otherwise, but for Access Bank, I'd say: go take that Msc offer, if not for anything, because once you have that Msc, that's an additional qualification that is now out of the way. |
I'll be off to Accra next week. I don't have this. I understand Ghana immigration can issue one for me at the airport but how easy is getting one. Who has done this recently to shed light on how I can get one? Don't wanna undergo any stress because of this. |

Working with my boss in officeat past 5pm closing time, when I had booked my 6pm flight to Ilorin to go see her. 5:15pm, my boss still hadn't released me. Scratching my head, I pretended as if I was going to the convenience, shut down down my system, switched off my phone so boss wouldn't be able to reach me, dashed to the elevator, leaving my bag behind in office, took bike from VI thru 3rd mainlaind bridge to catch my 6pm flight from MMIA to Ilorin. I risked my job and my life(bike on Third mainland bridge) for her, but she wasn't my eventual wife. That's the most silly thing I did for love. |
7k confirmed received from Ony**** Eze***** God bless |
manosteel: Long overdue. I know of an oil and gas company in PH that has a foreigner as chief security officer. Ordinarily, this position should be reserved for Nigerians. Our CSO is also a Briton and I doubt a Nigerian can do that job better. He knows his job very well. He even learnt smattering Yoruba, Igbo and Hausa in his 3 years stay in Nigeria and knows Nigerian terrain more than many of us. How can one policy tell me to take such a job from such a person just because he is not a Nigerian. I agree with the points Seun mentioned earlier, if every other country comes up with this kind of policy, what will happen to Nigerians working in other climes. For that reason, I have problem with this policy. Rather, the existing EQ policy should be well monitored, especially the area of understudy. Let's tell ourselves the truth, these guys(I'm not talking about Indians and Lebanese) do these jobs better than our locals. You see the difference. They are usually very committed, give attention to details and have great relationship skills. I enjoy working with our American and British staff more than our Nationals. Very professional and business-minded and hardly have time for those frivolities. |

I may have issues with their leadership, but 2 things stand ACN out as a party in Nigeria today. 1, Ability to put forward good candidates for elective and appointive posts. (All Lagos commissioners are perofrming) 2, Very virile opposition and great propaganda machinery. I like the way they comment on every issue and propagandize it. Those Lai Mohammed and Joe Igbokwe in particular are doing excellent job for this party.in an era when social/political activism is dead with Gani, ACN is the only check to ruling party we have now If only I can trust Tinubu with Nigeria's treasury, this party is very promising as an alternative we shold give a trial. |
