As if changing from one religion to another is a big deal? http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/4083596/Liam-Neeson-news-Liam-Neeson-is-thinking-about-becoming-a-Muslim.html That's a Hollywood actor all but converts to Islam. People move from one religion to another almost on daily basis, and here some people are making a conversion look like a big deal! |

Mukina is, still and will remain a Muslim insha Allah. She is not the only one that sends topic to hp. The forum owner and the other co-Supermod also do. In a forum where you are not the owner, no matter how high-ranking you are, there is a limit to what you can do. Moreso, if anybody doesn't want Muslim-bashing thread to get to hp, we should not make it exist, and this can only be done by looking inward and talking to ourselves and our brothers that spoil the name of our religion to desist from perpetrating acts capable of putting Islam in bad light. |
Both countries are similar, having players plying their trade in topflight in France. Ghana may struggle to qualify in this group. Fendoiuno, Bangoura, Yattara have been around for some time. Fendoiuno played against Nigeria in 2002 or 2004. He used to be St Etienne captain, I think. |
I once met someone that swore he must have OAU certificate, and that was someone that already had a Bsc from another Nigerian university. And here you are thinking twice before considering OAU, with a Yabatech HND for that matter. People run insane for not getting OAU admission. Go grab the offer, man! |
Born shortly before Shagari was toppled. Based on what I have read I will choose Buhari. I remember, faintly, how everybody used to be disciplined during Buhari era. How you dared not urinate anywhere, or throw thrash just anywhere, or how wolewole people used to enforce sanitation, how you dared not keep your gutters untidy, how no street hawking, how those houses almost entering the streets were marked for demolition to keep the road to plans etc. Very young then, but still remembers faintly. |
Because a Kuwaiti prince converts to Christianity(that's if its true), does that invalidate Islam? I, for one, am not moved by these kind of stories. I choose the religion I practice based on my personal convictions, never because of someone else(who is just another human being like me). I look at the fundamentals of areligion to evaluate it, not based on what x or y does, after all I have my own sense of reasoning and I don't need a Kuwaiti Prince's action to validate or invalidate what my beliefs. Abdallah's conversion(if true), no denying, is high profile but so are many other high profile conversions across religions. I know a highly respected company CEO in Nigeria, from Delta state, that converted to Islam. Lawyer trained in England, now one of teh top 10 executives in oil and gas industry in Nigeria. Many people dont even know he is a Muslim because he retains his Christian name till today, officially. He is a highly practising Muslim. He also converted his mother, a retired Justice of Nigeria's Court of Appeal. I only refrain from mentioning name because of some reasons. But I mention this to point that if high profile conversion is what validates a religion, then all religions have high profile conversions they can point to. After all, Seun, owner of NL, dumped Christianity for athesim, maybe that will validate atheism? |
I remember the guy so well. He reported the OccupyNigeria protests in Kano so actively. This their profession is dangerous o. May God give the family the fortitude to bear this loss. I recall this guy's face reporting the vandalization of govt house in Kano 2 weeks ago. |
ChannelsTV tweeted now. Enenche Akogwu who reported extensively the OccupyKano protest last week, was killed in Kano explosion today. It has also been reported in their news now. |

7 years later, who is still in topflight? |
In your Dr Agbaje example too, despite being subject to conversion to Christianity as part of education by the missionaries then, Yoruba Muslims have their own fair share of early educated Yoruba greats that never left Islam despite the missionary pressure in their days of schooling. Professor Saburi Biobaku, Professor Babs Fafunwa, Justice Taslim Elias, Prof M.O Oyawoye, Alhaji D.S Adegbenro, Alhaji Lateef Jakande and many others come to mind here. |
Okunoba, if you want to sylishly bring religious supremacy and division into this unitarian discussion, then some of us are ready for you. To say Muslims are shrinking in Yorubaland is false. I grew up in the part of Yorubaland where I, naively as a young primary school pupil, used to think everybody was a Muslim, because everywhere you went, it's Muslims. I never even knew there was any other festival other than Ileya. So low-keyed Christmas used to be then that, as small boys, then we used to make jest of our Ibo(Christian) neighbours that their celebrations are not as colourful as ours used to be. That was in the late 80s as a young pupil, with narrow worldview and inexposure. In other words, I am from a part of Yorubaland with 90% Muslims and it has not changed even till now. By factors majorly tendency of Muslim families to be large(polygamous) and even conversion, Muslims in Yorubaland have never shrunk, and in fact, in the last decade there has been serious re-awakening among Yoruba educated Muslims, through MSSN activities in the tertiary institutions and, much unlike before, many young, educated Muslims, now feel proud to identify themselves as one. |
Good job, Tbaba. |
Until Yoruba Muslims allow more Yoruba Christians to be governors, then I'll believe there's One Yoruba and not Yoruba Muslims and Yoruba Christians.Let me educate this ibo boy talking rubbish as if he never saw the four wall of a classroom. In 1999 Has bluetooth satisfied your curiousity? If I have my way, posters with no basic knowledge of politics/political history will not be allowed to post in this section. Imagine someone uttering the kind of statement up there. Thank you, DK and Bluetooth for schooling him though. |
I used to say my partner must be at least 3 years younger than me, but I eventually ended up marrying someone less than one year younger. |
