naptu2: Ghana-Nigeria 2000 Nations Cup Final (13 February 2000, National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos).
The 2000 Nations Cup was co-hosted by Ghana and Nigeria. Nigeria was just coming out of what was probably the best era in its football history in which it won the 1994 Nations Cup, qualified for its first and second World Cups and won the 1996 Olympics football tournament.
Cameroon had had its golden era in the 1980s, winning two Nations Cups and also reaching the quarterfinals of the 1990 World Cup, but it suffered a terrible slump after that and had a disgraceful appearance at the 1994 World Cup.
Note: Raphael Chukwu Ndukwe, who scored in this match, was one of the television commentators (summariser) during Nigeria’s last match against Cameroon in Uyo on September 1st 2017.
Samuel Eto’o gave Cameroon the lead in the 26th minute off a freekick and Patrick Mboma doubled the lead 31st minute. Chukwu Ndukwe scored for Nigeria just before half time and Jay Jay Okocha equalised for Nigeria at the beginning of the second half via a thunderous strike. It was 2-2 at the end of extra time and then came the penalty kicks.
Okocha and Godwin Okpara scored their penalties for Nigeria as did Patrick Mboma and Pierre Wome for Cameroon. Then Kanu missed his penalty and Geremi scored his. Ikpeba was adjudged to have missed his penalty, despite the fact that it actually crossed the line (Ikpeba didn’t help matters. He put his hand on his head as if he had missed). Marc Vivian Foe also missed his penalty.Oliseh scored and Rigobert Song also scored to give Cameroon their third Nations Cup victory. It ended
vedaxcool: Kind of far fetched, wouldn't the authorities easily identify her? Her traveling documents nko? Her companion on the journey? This news is doubtful.
Easy to identify every victim. Ignore a social media attention seeker rushing to FB to announce.
Reference: Say what? The fact that we've not had a reliable left back since Iroha left the building should not make you think the poor standards set by Elderson is acceptable. The chap is a big weak link in that defence and age has further worsened the situation. He was poor against Cameroun. A half decent Camerounian wing man wil havè proven this yet again.
I dont think Taiye Taiwo was bad. He made Ligue 1 Team of the Season twice with Marseille.
slimghost: Jarus, I normally enjoy your rating but I think you got this one wrong. Shehu was just average. Ndidi deserves an 8 while Leon Balogun should at least get an 8.5 or 9. Dude was rocksolid.
I stand corrected. I looked at the rating again and noted errors. As it had hit front page, I can't edit first post again. I admit this is sub-par.
MightyVicky: 9, IGHALO I was initially worried by the way he was pocketed by the Camerounian defenders and was second-guessing the one-man attack system. But he scored a typical number 9 goal - chance comes, take it. Good work in cutting the Camerounian defender and world class finish. Good work in selking dummy to the two Camerounian markers for the second goal too. His breaking the duck helped bring SE back into the game.
HABA! the match was played between Cameroun vs Nigeria (not South East). How come his duck helped bring SOUTH EAST back into the game. SMH
Andre Onana keeps for Ajax Amsterdam. The goal keeper for Cameroon in today's match was Fabrice Ondoa as you rightly said but he keeps for Sevilla Atletico in Spain la liga.
I guess the error was from Jarus when he referred to Ondoa as Ajax Amsterdam goalie instead of Fabrice who keeps for Sevilla.
thanks for the correction. Unfortunately, can't edit a post once it hits fp
1wolex85: Good ratings @ Jarus , just a few corrections. Shehu was at right back not left back.
The Cameroonian GK that plays for Ajax is Andre Onana not Fabrice Ondoa who played today.
You also said Ighalo was initially pocketed? That's totally wrong. He got their 2 central defenders yellow 'carded' very early in the match as such those 2 had to be careful for the rest of the game and that is why the defender could not touch him for his goal, it would have been a red.
Thank. Unfortunately as it has reached homepage, can't edit again.
A fantastic performance from the Super Eagles. Embarrassed the African champions to the utter shock of everyone. Started slowly with Cameroun calling the shots for the first 15 minutes before Eagles got into the game and got one of their best results in two decades.
Anyway, here is how the individual players performed.
1, EZENWA Fantastic saves. Uncommon confidence. Good entertainment. When you consider the fact that the jeeper at the other end was the keeper that was in post for the Ajax team that got to Europa final just last year, you have to give the home-based Nigerian kudos. 8/10
2, SHEHU The former (?) Kano Pillars player who plays can also play as a DM did good job as a left back and like he is gotten the shirt for keeps. Good use of ball. Good connection with the Genk man at the right wing with him. Good game. 7/10
3, ECHIEJILE Age catching up in him but decent performance. Didn't help attack much but did a decent job in defence. Did a couple of stoppages, but can do better in speed. 5/10
4, ONAZI Onazi was left at the front of the back 4 while the other DM, Ndidi, played deeper into the midfield, for the bettet part of the game. Hard marking as usual, even though a couple of missteps. Pushed forward ince and got the assist for the final goal. 6/10
5, EKONG
Initially struggled with the attack of the Indomitable lions, with a couple of slips. Lucky not to have given away a goaling the opening minutes. Later picked up. Good job in defence to stop Vincent Abubakar and the daring attavk of the Lions. 6/10
6, BALOGUN Leon combined well with Ekong to stop the admittedly ineffectively attack of the men from Cameroun. Looked like the better of the two central defenders. Neat job too. 7/10
7, SIMON Was largely anonymous in the first half. Not able to do his trademark tricks, but a moment of brilliance from him got the Nigerian team the thirsd goal. 6/10
8, NDIDI Alongside Mikel, ruled the midfield. Tried pushing forward a couple of times too. Good support for Mikel. 7/10
9, IGHALO I was initially worried by the way he was pocketed by the Camerounian defenders and was second-guessing the one-man attack system. But he scored a typical number 9 goal - chance comes, take it. Good work in cutting the Camerounian defender and world class finish. Good work in selking dummy to the two Camerounian markers for the second goal too. His breaking the duck helped bring SE back into the game. 8/10
10, MIKEL
Well, again, showed class. A goal and an assist, and the initiator of the attack that got another goal, what else can one ask for. Clearly showed the France-based Camerounian midfielders he wasn't rheir mate. Good leadership too. 9/10.
11, MOSES Another class display. Proved he was a senior man. Missed one or two scorin chancea but his goal and overall contribution cannot be donwplayed. He and Mikel were clearly the moat creative on the field. Little wonder the team went almost flat again after the exit of the duo. 8/10
SUBS
IHEANACHO Good positioning to score the final goal. 6/10
AGU Tried his best to continue where Mikel stopped. Not bad in control of the midfield. 6/10
MUSA Unrated. Not seen.
COACH ROHR Good job. Great selection, especially with cjoice of keeper and starting Mikel and benching Musa and Iheanacho, which many coaches may not have done. 8/10
donbuchi1: So it was at that final stage he was dropped. Most organizations allow for the two best candidates to get to the final stage. And the head of that unit or MD picks one after meeting with them. Boss do get certified ASAP. I won't say please....
Exactly. It may have been the tie breaker between him and his rival.
aieromon: This is a middle/senior management position. If the person is not chartered, how does he get to supervise subordinates who have ICAN/ACCA certifications?
How does he represent the organization in a forum where everybody else is affiliated to ICAN or ACCA?
It's a thing of prestige and the OP should be aware of the trend in his industry. I know people that got certified before they finished University and they were quicky scooped up by the big 4 audit firms in Nigeria.
Gbam.
Even auditors look at qualifications of preparers of financial information to give comfort on reliability. Professional qualification is a key consideration.
saydfact: summary: u had an Architect on all 3... great. my point is - when one begins to live in an apartment, u begin to find out its not meeting ur needs, no store, excessive space planning, etc... regrets begin to set in, renovation cost is high, u want to build another and relocate - these are more expensive.
I'm sure u agree that your first is 100% more impressive than the second in all departments....
and i also understand why u decided to go into the 2nd by yourself, the experience from the first....
When i grow up, i want to be like u..... with 3 projects or more..
Sure, first had professional touch, fully handled by a professional from beginning to end. But it took longer. I wasn't going to be living there so I wasn't in a rush.
I finished the second in 11 months. I just badly needed to gerrout of rented house in Lagos and wanted something I can rush and finish within a year.
saydfact: I also noticed you had an Architect on your project; i guess you're in the best position to advice iamlarry99 that what he attached and refered to as Affordable design on this thread wld eventually cost him more..
I can authoritatively say that if he continues with that design, he wld one day remember today...
@ iamlarry99 - The reason u shared ur post here was for advice - Please invest a few thousands getting a design you wld be proud of....
GoodLuck... and apologies if u feel i crossed the line...
First one, I contracted an architect from start. He was also the supervisor.
Second one, I just used my pencil to draw what I wanted on paper, got a bricklayer and started. I got architect to regularise later. He collected my DIY paper plan and put professional touch and I paid him off. Self-supervision.
Dominiquez: I have traveled by air countless times within Nigeria on Medview, Arik,Air Peace, First Nation, Discovery,Azman, Aero,Overland but i can tell you guys with all sincerity that DANA is the best for me. The onboard service is on point and their MD Douglas aircraft.
Gbam. No regular flyer in the last one year will dispute this.
I have flown Dana about 12 times this year and only one occasion was there a delay. Timely, smooth ride without hitches. Sharp clean plane.
I am a graduate of Great Ife Computer science with economics. Looking for oppourtunity in investment banking, capital market. Can u link with any Great Ife guy in the industry
When the money finishes, I know the money has finished...not that one that I'll be buying things on credit and be smiling in debt, that if I can't pay, will be passed down to my generations.
I used to think that credit cards were 'tusher' but when I learnt the mechanics behind it, I knew the way forward...
