Instead of people to use this service, they will come online to start complaining. Seun should put this on the Front page so people can make use of it. |
@ 2much Why did you have to bring Uhrobos to this? That's a bit silly, don't you think? @topic They built ILLEGAL structures which should be demolished. IT IS CALLED LAW AND ORDER! @the oil argument I can't help but laugh. Every part of Nigeria is dependent on OIL! Even the in "SS" when we have a "ND republic" (whatever that means), the oil issue will arise again. The Kalabari will demand "federalism" because of their oil while the Ibani will be allowed to suffer because they do not have oil, speaking hypothetically. Lol. |
Beaf: Relax101:Guys, it was just an opinion. If you didn't like it, you simply have to ignore it. No need for all these sarcastic remarks. |
Since the day OUK declared his intention concerning this. It made me have a re-think about splitting Nigeria. Tribalism aside, if this policy is done, it is to the detriment of mainly fellow Igbos before other ethnic groups. Is this what Biafra, Oodua and Arewa will look like?? What is then the point of a split? Mind you, these are Igbos of the same ethnic stock and the same religion (Christianity), yet, they are sacking eachother simply because of state boundaries. Yorubas, remember Ife and Modakeke?? Niger-Deltaens, remember Ijaw and Itsekiri and Uhrobo, Ijaw and Ikwerrri, Ijaw and Ibibios, and more recently, Ijaws and Binis. Arewa, remember Northern Kaduna vs Southern Kaduna, Jos vs Hausas etc. All these things are just too saddening. Should each state be a country? What do we call this move by OUK? "Stateism"? Na wa ooo! This is just me thinking out loud. |

Beaf:Beaf; theoretically your post is perfect but in reality, it just does not work that way. The Nigerian economy is COMPLETELY dependent on petroleum and all its products. 100-150% increase in fuel prices will have a shockingly painful effect on the masses. How? The prices of every product in the country (emphasis on EVERY PRODUCT) will increase. The country will witness hyper-inflation. What will accommodate this? 18 000 naira wages (some people collect less a month)? The poor and the middle class will be the most hit. The middle class will be the new poor. The dramatic effect this will have on the country will lead to something the government cannot control because the suffering will just be too much. My suggestion is for us to have constant power supply first before we start talking of removal of subsidy. Most already spend more than 40% of the monthly income on generators or car fuel. Coupled will the hyper-inflation in rent, other forms of transportation, FOOD! and every other thing a common man needs to survive. Nigeria will be worse off, and worse still, is the totally confident knowledge that the money acquired will not be used to do the things Allison listed out. In fact, this will drive away some investors. The cost of operating businesses in Nigeria is expensive already because of our power problems. An increase might just be too much for them. We shall see next year. The masses will revolt. They will not be able to talk any more pains inflicted on them by our government. Watch out for serial industrial actions. Even GEJ knows this. |
Beaf:Beaf, I am not against criticism. In fact, I support it; after all, its not like they (leaders) are doing us a favour. Its our money they are using but please, lets make it constructive. Following Point B's comments about Fashola, all I can sense is an intense desire to pull him down. I have NEVER seen this "Point B" criticize any other Governor. Even is critisism is somewhat, sarcastic and lacks a positive objective. Reading it, all I and other Nlanders can sense is negativity and envy. Anyway, I support you on this. You have a valid point. |
PointB:Ezeuche; I am not against criticism, if done responsibly. I also do not engage in defending the indefensible. You know me too well for that. The point is, if a contract is over-inflated but the job is done. I prefer that (so do many others) to an over-inflated contract with NOTHING done. Where should I start from? Ajaokuta steel mill? or Our power projects? Take a look at ALL the federal roads (including Benin-Ore road and the Niger brigde) and tell me what you see. Do you know how many times the contract to repair those roads have been awarded?? Now, tell me which is better? Even other state governors (including mine) do little. Now, you have been witch-hunting Fashola as if you have seen better governance anywhere in the country. I'll not even go to your state governor (Orji). Even Rochas has not done anything tangible apart from welfare programs (which is good but not great and mind you, Imo state is the 5th richest state in Nigeria http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Nigerian_states_by_GDP). So no excuse! I have NEVER seen you critise other governors in the SE, NEVER (apart from Orji and that's because you have no choice) He (Fashola) has done what other governors dream of doing. Your witch-hunt would do nothing to his image. And to solve your problem, DO not use the brigde. Simple!!! This will save you the head-ache! |
PointB:Oh shut your mouth. Being educated does not translate to common sense. You are not deceiving anyone but yourself. Anytime you see Fashola doing well, you go rabid yet YOUR own state governor has done NOTHING! Its only you I see praising a man who has not used more than 4 months in government, to govern Nigeria. For your info, I don't support Tinubu (check my comments about him)but YES(resoundingly) I support Fashola. Why? He(and a few others) is the only one bringing VISIBLE development in Nigeria NOT newspaper development. He has built the Falomo bridge and there is nothing you can do about it. If other Governors and past presidents can OVER-inflate contracts but do the work, do you think Nigeria will be in this state by now? Obj pumped 16 billion Dollars to power Nigeria. Is that not over inflated? Did he fix our power problems? NO! GEJ is about doing another ID scheme coupled with the removal fuel subsidy. Do you think it will fix our logistical/Identification problems and Oil bunkering, respectively, in Nigeria? (we shall see). If you hate the bridge so much, don't use it! In fact, avoid the bridge and Falomo altogether. Problem solved! Nigerians do not know the value of what they have until they lose it! |
Point B You are sounding and looking more stupi.d by the day. If you say this is corruption, then, I LOVE "CORRUPTION"! As long as the projects are executed! I am in support of political thieves, as long as they do their duty unlike the ones that steal and still don't do anything. Read what I said about Iweala some weeks ago (during the corruption saga), I said, I love her corruption as long as the country keeps improving. We get your point, Fashola is corrupt because you want Rochas(the incorruptible) to be the President. Fine but stop regurgitating silliness on this thread. Lagosians are happy with their "corrupt" governor. Thank you! |
All that remains is the 4th mainland bridge, Eko Atlantic and the Railway! |
Action speaks louder than mere words! Good one Fashola, AS USUAL!!! |
By OLASUNKANMI AKONI & MONSUR OLOWOOPEJO IKOYI—Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State, Wednesday, commissioned the N2.5 billion Falomo On–Ramp Bridge. At the commissioning of the 115-metres long bridge, Fashola explained that the project, executed in collaboration with Lekki Concession Company, LCC, under a Public Private Partnership, was aimed at easing traffic gridlock in Lagos Island. Falomo-bridge He said the project, which was constructed by LCC, was the first of such magnitude and specification to be built anywhere in the country. Fashola said: ”This is a deliverable of the 30-year PPP in 2006, pursuant to which the company is already rehabilitating and upgrading approximately 50 kilometres of the Eti-Osa Lekki–Epe Expressway and will also construct 20 kilometres of the Coastal Road. ”Of the N50 billion long- term finanacing raised by Lekki Concession Company to execute the on-going works on the Eti-Osa-Lekki-Epe Expressway, a substantial portion of which represents Foreign Direct Investment into Lagos State, N2.5 billion had been used to construct the new Falomo On–Ramp, that we will all be driving on soon.” He said the bridge would improve travel time for motorists travelling from Ikoyi from the Westbound lanes of Ozumba Mbadiwe Avenue, noting that motorists would now be able to access Ozumba Mbadiwe and Adeyemo Alakija streets’ intercession. Mr. Opuiyo Oforiokuma, MD/CEO of LCC, said the firm had undertaken the construction of many projects on concession arrangement with the state government. Special Adviser and Director-General, Office of Public Private Partnership, Lagos State, Mr. Ayo Gbeleyi, said the bridge is among the road works that constitutes the state infrastructure projects meant to complement the ongoing contentious Eti-Osa-Lekki –epe Expressway rehabilitation and expansion. ‘’It is a clear testimony of the enormous benefits derivable from PPP where private sector resources and expertise are leveraged by government in accelerating the delivery of public infrastructure land service to the people. This is therefore just one of the many projects currently under procurement with others in the pipeline,” he added.https://vml1.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/Falomo-bridge.jpg http://www.vanguardngr.com/2011/10/fashola-inaugurates-n2-5bn-falomo-bridge/ |
Thanks for the update. Please, keep up the good work. I have and will be following it! ![]() |
GEJ cannot remove fuel subsidy. How will the common man survive? In Nigeria, once the fuel prices increase, it is IMMEDIATELY followed by hyper-inflation. So what is the point of the new minimum wage?? The Poor will be poorer, the middle class will be poor and the elites(politicians and their friends) will certainly get richer! GEJ knows he just cannot do this. The industrial action that will follow suit will consume the country. Removal of subsidy will be a spark that will ignite a revolution in Nigeria. Quote me on this next year!!! |
This is the BIGGER PICTURE!!!. Instead of all this petty rivalry on NL! Shangothor, over to you. |
PHIPEX:+ ONE MILLION!!! |
1soul:May God bless you!!! But beware, agents of distraction, division and disunity are EVERYWHERE!!! |
blink182:Bro, why insult Itsekiris because of Beaf?? Watch yourself oo! . Its because I respect you, I'll let this go.On a real, don't let BEAF give you a bad impression about Itsekiris. Beaf does not and cannot represent Itsekiris! Many, MANY Itsekiris don't share his opinions. |
Rivers’ll take delivery of new trains soon – Commissioner The Rivers State government has said that brand new trains will be arriving in the country soon from Switzerland. The trains are for the state’s mass transit project. Transport Commissioner, Mr. George Tolofari, who made this known, said more rail tracks and other equipment for the state’s multi-billion naira monorail project have arrived Port Harcourt, the state capital. “The trains, which are being built in Switzerland will arrive in Nigeria soon!, he said. The commissioner, who was speaking at Onne Port, while inspecting the equipment, accordingly appealed to those who are skeptical about the mass transit project, to be patient with government. He said as soon as the facilities were cleared by the customs, they will be transferred to the built warehouse located in Trans-Amadi, the industrial hub of the state in Port Harcourt. Tolofari said part of the delay in the early completion of the monorail project was the heavy rains in the state. The project, which has so far gulped N11bn, according to the commissioner, is to be powered by independent power supply. He claimed that the epileptic power supply from the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) will not affect the project, adding that those who feel that the monorail will result in the demolition of their houses have no cause to worry. “Government has done a survey of the routes and discovered that only few houses will be affected”, the transport commissioner said, pointing out that adequate compensation will be paid for such houses. Governor Chibuike Amaechi, has already given those affected seven days notice to vacate the marked houses before the bulldozers start to roll in to reduce them to rubbles. The houses are at Azikiwe Road, Port Harcourt. Before now, there have been fears of massive demolition as a result of the monorail project. The fears according to Tolofari, were unfounded. He said the first phase of the project will be completed before December next year. “The arrival of these equipment is evidence that the monorail is not an abandoned project as being touted by some uninformed people”, the commissioner said. |

1soul:That's the spirit!!! Some people NEVER want to see a united South with the NC!!! You guys need to start understanding what is going on in Nigeria. The SS and SE alone did not give GEJ victory. It was a a combined effort! The moment the South allows pettiness to trickle in, that will be the beginning of OUR problems and the end result will be worse than what we have now. That is OUR chance! Let's not allow OUR suspicion for each other to tear the South apart! God bless! |
Beaf:The country was split into three autonomous regions and later, four. The North had their groundnut. The West had their Cocoa (which the whole of the old west shared). The Mid West or Bendel had Timber and Rubber. The East had Palm oil. So where did you get the highlighted from?? |
seanet02:and how is it any of you business?? What has ethnicity got to do with this? Yorooba comedy! |
1soul:Oh keep shut!!! What the Eff is the "Old East"?? If there is an "Old East" there will be an "Old West" and "North"! No! We have SS, SE, SW,NC, NE and NW!!! Get that into your head! |
A united South is better than all this partitioning! Can't you all see that these articles started after the election?? Some people are hell bent on splitting the South!!! |
1soul:^^^ Mr. man. They don't see "us" the same! @the people insulting your southern Neighbours By Kingsley Omonobi October 1, 2011 So while the Army and other security agencies were gunning for stock of the Hausa/Fulani tribe as suspects, the sect was actually discovered to be using Igbo youths many of whom were born and bred in the North, in these areas to perpetuate the dastardly act for sums of money ranging from N300, 000 to N500, 000 depending on the success of the blast, the destruction caused, and the impact such attack must have made on the nation’s mass media. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2011/10/bombings-military-authorities-arrest-950-chadians-nigeriens-sudanese/ I bet "Kingley Omonobi" is a Yoruba man, abi?! I wonder why you guys like shifting blames, instead of you guys to look at the bigger picture! |
jmaine:Baba, the guy no wound me o! I just aired my views to him. But as they say, "nothing can be added to an already filled cup". |
