I didn't say anything about Itsekiris in Biafra. Secondly, what makes an Edo majority state or a Yoruba majority state any different from an Ijaw majority state? You said you wouldnt like to live in an Ijaw-"majority" state and matter what group Itsekiris are lumped with they will still be "minorities". So what's the difference?
Some groups have an expansionist agenda. I can feel more "at home" with Uhrobos and Edos given the cultural similarities without the fear of being annexed.

Can you remember the Bini vs Ijaw thread?? Well, read this:
http://www.unitedijaw.com/egbemaclan.htm

This will give you a BETTER explanation of the underlying truth and why I am a skeptic with them as the majority.

What does a certain people being majority in a nation have to do with it's progress, wellbeing and growth? Does tiny Itsekiri wish to be majority in it's own nation too?
"Tiny" Itsekiris will not want to be part of Biafra or SS rep. "Tiny" Itsekiris will prefer (in this order) Southern Nigeria, Benin/Edo republic (Mid west) and lastly, Odua. After all, we too have a right to self-determination, don't we?

No, I don't see what you're aiming at. It's not as if Igbo people cannot coexist peacefully with the Ijaws, Ibibios and Efiks. The main reason why Nigeria fought for the reabsorption of Biafra is because of oil let's not deceive ourselves.
Odumchi, I am sure we have been through this path. I am not against Biafra. I am against land grabbing. My stance is this, there was no need for Biafra to include Binis,Uhrobos, Ilajes in delta (they pass off as Itsekiris) and Itsekiris as part of Biafra without negotiating. To me, Biafra also wanted all the oil producing communities. I agree that Igbos have large deposits of oil but, by their move during the war, they wanted more.

Yes, Igbos can co-exist with Ijaws etc. So can the Yorubas with their neighbours but you don't see the Yorubas including the Mid-west when they talk about their republic, do you?

Its totally fine by me. Btw, I used the "If" word.

Neither do I want to be in a nation with Ijaws as the majority. I am sure most Bini and Ilajes feel the same way. The only people I pity are the western "Ijaws" who have been deceived by this new "Ijaw identity".

God willing Southern Nigeria,Benin republic or at worse Odua. God forbid ND rep or SS republic. Its only on the internet you'll hear silly things like SS republic.

To be honest, I like your character because you are always "straight to the point". There is one thing you need to understand, Nigerians do not hate Igbo, Yorubas or even Hausas. The civil war has caused a level of unprecedented paranoia amongst INTERNET Igbos.
Now, you are advocating for Nigeria to cut "Igbo land" from Nigeria. How can that be done?? Do you think Igbos can enjoy more than what they are enjoying now, on their own?? In case of such, would Igbos (with all due respect) not start advocating for some ethnic groups as Igbos? Would land garbing not be the potion of such a move? I can't start to imagine what would happen in places like Rivers state, if the Ijaws refuse to go with you.
You see why Nigeria did not let you go in 1967 and will not let you go now?

When I preach that Igbo should stick with Ndigbo, some tend to crucify me while am right. She is not married yet because you have messed up her life. Which Igbo man will go into that woman that you have jumped in and out. One day she will end up marrying a non Igbo because Ndigbo do not go for rejects.
Anyway, for that Igbo to date you in the first instance may be that she is a wowo girl. Instead of a being a lone ranger, she chose you instead. Believe me, you were just her last option.

@Jason, am not surprised at your attack on me. Since your day 1 here, you have always been against me. Even if I had adviced the girl to marry the guy, you will still go against me. It is expected.
I am not against you but your advise is a bad one. In fact, its so terrible, it should be accounted to you on judgment day! You do not know how much this guy loves this girl YET, simply because he is Yoruba, he has to go. You are married man yourself and a happy one. Will it be just as equally fine for your wife to just live you because you are from Imo state and she is from Enugu (an example).

Think about God and pity the people involved. You are happy but you do not want others to be, whyhuh To me, your advise is W.I.C.K.E.D.
Well, God will judge all you tribalist!!! My girl as also been worried about what her parents will  say but my parents are totally fine with her. You (an Igbo youth leader) make Igbos look very tribal. Make thunder pafuka gi your mouth if you accuse other ethnic groups of being tribal!

Why do nollywood movie always display IFA as bad and Christianity good? Shouldnt it be the Nigerian propaganda machine like hollywood? Is it because of our low IQ or inferiority complex that we are displaying our culture as bad?
I can't disagree with you but do we have a choice? For them to pass their message across Nigeria and Africa, they need to speak and act like "The English" so as not to come off too culturally strong which might lead to insecurities unlike Yoruba movies. That is why nollywood "English" movies have a wide range of costumers and the Yoruba ones are usually bought by Yorubas and "Yorubas" inclined or "connected" people (as in, people that understand their POV like Edos, Itsekiris, Benin rep, Togo etc).

If we look at history of African states ,you will see that many African countries became banana republics because of populist movements and liberation movements.Don't worry about a policy that was made in 1966.That is in the past ,we are in the future now. What we should be doing is uniting as a people instead of always dwelling on the past and the civil war that many of us never fought in.

One of the reason why Igbos and Yorubas hardly get along is because everybody always make reference to the civil war.The sad part of it that most of the people who carry this on their heads were not even born at that time.

Let igbos produce a great leader ,without baggage and with great ideas and you will see intelligent people vote for him.We must do away with tribal politics and start practicing true and transparent democracy. There are other silent and credible Igbo groups who could field better candidates than the Ohaneze. We need a fresh face regardless of tribe not all these recyled dinosaurs.
WELL DONE!!!

The bolded line is what you used to deceive us in the past. You want us to be more patriotic than everyone else while you go to the back and steal the crown as usual.

Let me tell you, if ever Igbo manages to have someone like me directing Igbo affairs, we will take our rightful place.
My plan is infallible, and it has nothing to do with Nigerian presidency.   cool
You talk about deceiving you? What about you deceiving yourself? undecided
Look, any bad policy in Nigeria affects EVERYONE. It does matter if you are Igbo, Uhrobo or Hausa. Read my lips, "E.V.E.R.Y.O.N.E"! An Igbo president does not guarantee SEastern development. This has been and is still being proved everyday in Nigeria by the SW and North, and now, the SS.

These people are appointed as the president of Nigeria not any section. An Igbo president for the SE might scare people from voting for him because he might be perceived as a bigot who's purpose is to be partial to the SE.

Lol. So you reckon that Igbos have not taken their "rightful place" in the Federation already? Can you actually say that with some conviction?? If anyone should be screaming marginalisation in Nigeria today, it should be the Yorubas. I need not go into details. You know the reasons.

Before and after the war, the SS was/and is still the most marginalised region in country. Forget GEJ, I'm talking about actual development.

About the Midwest. you need to understand the mentality of the people in the Old west. The Mid-west was never under the Oyo empire neither was the Oyo empire under the Benin empire. That alone led to some frictions in the West. Both people, although very similar and they get along well, needed their space. That is the under lying truth.

Our problem in Nigeria and even SN or ND rep, if formed, is YOUR kind of mentality. I am sure 2015, you'll be campaigning for an "Igbo president" instead of looking at all the manifestos presented by all the candidates. Guy, poverty and under-development knows no ethnicity or religion.

Tell that to the marines! hahaha!
So only Yoruba was qualified enough to produce premier? I'm laughing heartily.

So, why did Yoruba not vote for Jonathan -a minority- in this last election?
Why are they the most bitter critics of GEJ here on Nairaland?
Yoruba? The only qualified?? Who said thathuh At that time, before the formation of the Mid-west; Awolowo's policies was one of the best we had in the country and the region. As I said earlier, it had nothing to do with ethnicity. Zik won in the West but obviously, he cannot rule the people he does not know and that was why he was not allowed. You call that tribalism but I call that common sense. In fact, I'll support the move over and over again.

I am not here to defend anybody but do you SERIOUSLY think GEJ would have still won without the vote of the Yorubas?? Really? Even the Northerners that are insulted here everyday still voted for GEJ and that was why he won.

Most bitter critics? There is ACN and there are Yorubas. They are totally different things. Try to get the difference between the two.

A little food for thought.

Was there EVER a Premier of Old Western region of Nigeria from a minority tribe?

Answer: NOPE.
So?? Emphasis was not placed on ethnicity but on the ability to get the job done! Your argument is the reason why Nigeria is still like this. Who cares whether you are Igbo, Yoruba or Hausa. Just get the job done.
As far as the Old west was/is concerned, we are very appreciative of his policies. Notwithstanding, I understand why you do not like him.
