blink182: Tried as much as possible not to sound that way and my mind isn't made up, I'm a die hard nokia fan and crossing into android territory is something I'm skeptical about.

I downloaded the zipped file but i couldn't do anything with it as i kept getting a notification from my archiving software.

Galaxy note is awesome esp since you like large screens. Personally I consider Samsungs best mobile to be the galaxy s2 (which I think is also their flagship mobile device) and consider the note more of a tablet-cum-mobile. Hope you've thought about the ease of handling a 5.3 inch screen mobile.

If you're still looking in Nokias direction, then I think it would be best to wait for 808 pureview. It really looks like an awesome device with a large support for HD games and softwares. Although it does not have dual core but its got enough to run wonderfully well considering the fact that it runs symbian which is not too processor intensive.
Another option is Nokia windows phones. But they are relatively new and do not have a vast support especially in terms of softwares and HD games. Its better to stick with symbian for now and wait for those ones to be fully developed.

My previous game installers also worked well on my 701, except Assasins creed which exits during loading. Asphalt ran smoothly when I formated. Had little control issues with Spiderman controls, changed the hacked installserver.exe to a different one and reinstalled. Works fine now. Haven't installed Eternal legacy on 701, ll do when I get home 2nite.. did u install the games with Hacked ROM or a virgin one (unhacked) ?

Dungeon hunter and Eternal legacy go go blank b4 starting the main game. My spider man is a trial version. I heard asphalt 6 lags on some phones so I didn't bother downloading it.
These were all some time ago. I think fixed versions should be out and plan on downloading them this Easter when I have access to unlimited downloads.

Now back to the thread.
Do you have the full working versions of Dungeon Hunter, Eternal Legacy, Asphalt 6 and Spider Man for 701? I have them but they are having some issues and re-downloading those games on my limited data plan is not easy. So I wanna be really sure.

I concluded by putting up a summary of the whole stuff from page 1 and u went crazy.
Its not like I went into the ocean looking for facts. I've been involved with symbian for over 5yrs now. Then I used to help people hack their phones and install apps and games (esp Ngage). So more or less I followed the transition of symbian. When I finally wanted to retire, I discovered I needed to change my phone. So I started the research process again. After about 4 months into this phone, u come and tell me its all crap with inferior hardware (more like a device for the masses), and you wan make I gree. No o I had to counter back with facts.

You know what I think superior hardware is? Much better processor, NFC support, much better battery life, more compact hardware, bright screen with CBD. Not just HDMI and camera.
N8 is more expensive only because of the camera (just like you said) and nothing else which I totally agree with. Atleast I know enough device hardwares to know that processors play a major role.

But bros if the features no dey my phone, na your phone dem go dey? Guy I'm very practical o. Its just that once in a while I put some theory to spice it up (afterall without theory, there would be no practical)

You and this 256MB ram sef. U know say the tin no dey sweet you. I know if Nokia says they are distributing 512 or 1G ram for N8 in maiduguri, u will be the first to land there.

You know as a fellow black man I cannot throw away your research on the fm stuff like that. But u sef suppose get literature review or reference. I said its either the problem is with your phone (which you vehemently denied), or its wit 701 in general. Now if the latter was true, no be only you for dey complain. Atleast thousands more should have complained cos all man sabi do research. Same goes for speed and battery life- provide proof! U dont know about Nokia phones than Nokia themselves

I think this dialogue has dragged on for too long. So I will want to conclude.

But before that let me clarify the fm transmitter issue. Nokia clearly states that the fm transmission range on both devices is about 6m. Hope u know you're not the only one with an n8. On all online reviews and forums I've seen, none thinks in line with you. Alot of them use it cars and its works perfectly (except if you use yours in a lorry). So I can categorically say that that of n8 is in no way better. If you think otherwise, prove it (and please not with your homemade and flawed research like the one on page 0 about battery life).

Also the camera issue and hdmi issue- I like the way you magnify this and relegate speed of 701 to the background. Well I can categorically say that generally after the UI, speed is the next important factor influencing the choice of users when buying a smartphone (if not n8 will be the most successful smartphone out there).
You only use the cam when you want to take shots and thats all. Whereas, speed affects every single thing you do with a phone including the cam (from startup to shutdown). The cam on 701 may not be awesome but its very good especially for the general user. Your apps run faster, games run smother (especially with its 3d graphics accelerator) and multitasking is fun.
I have alot of startup apps and apps which run in the background which are all very important to me. And I still expect my phone to boot in seconds and run extra smooth and not like some laggy stuff. Infact I cant wait for the 1.3GHz update as what I have is starting to lag a little. You can continue with that slow monster.
Hdmi- is not something most users are even aware of talkless of use. Atleast most people on this forum will attest to that.

1. My fm transmitter functions much better than what uve described. Maybe u should consider returning ur 701 to Nokia care.
2. The pictures are great especially for those who like taking pics. This further confirms its a niche phone just like BB whose outstanding quality is rim. For n8 its the camera
But to me a phone is more than just a camera. The 8mp cam on 701 suits my needs and its more than enough for my social needs as I have to downgrade most of the shots to upload them.
I need something thats superb on all fronts.
Look at Samsung galaxy S2 and Iphone 4s they both have 8mp cams but are the two best phones around just because they are not niche phones. They are all-rounders

About the picture:
I MIGHT agree with the lighting considering N8 uses xenon flash and 701 user dual led. As for the blades I no gree o.
The blades are clearly static no matter how good the camera is. A good camera should atleast show that the blades are in motion and not static.
If N8 is like this then how will 808 be?

You can see that most of your misconceptions about 701 changed when you really handled the phone.
Well I can say your comparison is good (although you displayed some bias towards N8 which I wouldn't blame you for as its clearly your favourite especially having used it for long).
But let me just point out something.
1. About the sim card position. Sincerely, I prefer it this way cos I hardly remove my mc. Infact I have removed it only once when I installed some shitty app. Unlike my sim which I always remove esp when my battery is low and I have to go out with another phone or when I want to use my etisalat line to browse. Well as they say different strokes for different folks.
2. Fm transmitter: Mine much works better than what you have explained although I have not compared it with that of N8.
3. I know this comparison is based the native ability of the phones, but I think you should also keep an eye on the added features coming with the FP1 update. I'm sure by then you may change your mind.

In conclusion, they are both nice phones. If you want excellent multimedia function then N8 is better. But if you are all about the UI (user interface), responsiveness, good multimedia backup and all round function 701 is it.
N8 is rather a niche phone with some excellent features, while 701 is an all-rounder that offers all round improvement. (just like comparing the Iphone to N8).

mind you, 3mm headset jack for 701 was poorly designed with the hole at the left side of the phone which adds to the poor and shitty hardware of ur phone, putting the phone in ur pocket when the headset is connected makes ur pocket look somehow when u ar walking man. u knw it. just mention what i havnt done with a 701 b4..

Most likely you mistook another phone for 701. When you handle 701 then we can talk cos clearly your N8 can't be different from that of people around. Therefore your opinion and theirs shouldn't differ greatly.

It is almost absolutely impossible for a fully conscious adult to drown him/herself in a bathtub. For suicide to occur in this case its either the person must be under the influence of some drugs or the person had put some restrictions in place or the person had an accident. You could have also said that some people commit suicide by simply closing their nose and mouth. If you have never seen anyone drown, you would notice that the struggle to breath transcends the persons conscious control.

1. USB OTG and fm transmitter- I am really suspicious of these your researches. I don't know how you got less than a feet when Nokia clearly states that the range of their fm transmitters in the two phones are equal and is about 6 feet. This value correlates with what I get.
OTG service on 710 works much better and smother than that on N8. Thats an undeniable fact.

2. I've told you that comparing a fixed focus and auto focus camera is just like comparing a saloon car, a wagon and a jeep. They are all meant for different tastes and purposes.
Again go and read about the pros and cons of a fixed focus camera.

3. Saying 701 is a remake C7 is just like saying different IPhone or BB models with thesame design are simply remakes.
It doesn't sound smart.

4. The TV out issue is simply overstressed. What I've got is ok for me as the difference is not much

5. The features I mentioned have absolutely nothing to do with carla. They are features of the FP1 update that symbian belle native phones will get this month or next. Carla will be out around Q4.
Since Nokia has said that they would get dolby support it simply shows its got the hardware I don't know why you are arguing. Until you can explain how C7 gets NFC support (a hardware feature) after Anna update, you should put this point to bed.

6. I don't believe someone can be putting up a case for a 256MB device in this day and age. Its simply shows you've not used 701 and so its more of 'a one-eyed king in the land of the blind' scenario.
I've handled phones with higher processing power than 701 and they are awesome. And mind you having alot of apps stored on your phone with a full memory card affects your phone speed whether they are running or not. I don't have to put off apps that should start up with the phone just because my phone specs is below par.
Its like making a case for a 1GB RAM laptop against a 4GB one.

6. I'm sorry to burst your bubble but this is something I really need to put to rest. OLDER GENERATION S^3 PHONES WILL NOT RECEIVE CARLA UPDATE (forget the rumours you hear online) I said its the last OS update not the last symbian update. Afterall S60V5 still gets updates today but these are not OS updates. Don't you get the difference.
S60 3rd FP1 not upgradeable to FP2 even with the
former having better HW. S60 5th not
upgradeable to S^3. And now S^3 not
upgradeable to Belle FP1
The only reason Nokia dished out the Anna and Belle update for you guys is cos they were loosing sales. But man you must be very greedy. How do you think Nokia is going to push up sales for new devices if they keep updating older ones to run thesame OS. Purview 808 will soon be out and you are still asking for OS updates for its child
Look at Android. Only phones released in 2011 will get ICS.
Has it also occurred to you that the major features in some updates require certain minimum specs? You could also ask Nokia to release a lite Belle for N97 or N73.
Nokia has said that older S^3 will NOT get FP1 update due this month and you are already having delusions about Carla that is due in Q4. Its like a primary school pupil that wants to go to the university without first going to secondary school.

7. Can we just throw these your tests into the dustbin cos just like the one about the fm transmitter, they do not hold water. Or maybe you should stop using a phantom 701.
I am not hoping to get thesame battery life listed by Nokia, but it does not take a rocket scientist to know that a phone with battery talk-time of 17hours will definitely last longer than that with talk-time of 8hours.

8. Like I said Nokia 701 is 20% smaller, 10% thinner and 4g smaller.
Looking at both of them, 701 looks much smaller and more handy. Or man can you compare a box with 1m by 1m by 1m dimension of 50g with another with half of the dimensions But still weighing 50g?
I wonder if the 10 and 20% mean anything to you.

9. I am still looking for the more expensive hardware of N8 with better performance (apart from its 12MP camera). Whereas I have given you multiple instances where 701 trounces N8 both in hardware and software. And yes N8 looks ugly.

You should buy nokia 500. Although a little bit more expensive, its got much better specs.
Also it runs symbian Anna (upgradable to Belle) which is much more better than the traditional symbian 60.

Also I dont think its wise buying any mobile after 2years of its release especially if its produced by Nokia. They make multiple phones almost every month in different price ranges. I would almost bet that you would get a better more current phone within that price range.

N8 and 701 no be mates ooo, N8 has a powerful AMOLED screen while 701 has the old TFT screen tech. N8 has 16gb internal storage while the other only has 8gb. N8 has 12mp camera with full autofocus plus carl Z optics and a nice xenon flash while 701 only has has a lame 8mp fixed focus lens and a LED flash. N8 could be connected to ur tv via HDMI and AV tv out cable while 701 only pocess the TV out via AV TV Out. Have u tried putting the two phones on the table and consider which one feels sturdy? Luckily I have a friend with 701. D only thing that is absent in N8 is the NFC support which 701 has. but that doesnt makes it beta dan ma N8 in anyway though. NFC aint any issue cos it aint common yet. U can neva regret ur money buying an N8 especially if u know how to use it. Keep N8ing :-)

Apart from the 12MP camera with its associated features Nokia 701 is relatively better than N8. About the TV output, Nokia 701 has it although its not HDMI

1. With 256MB RAM, 512 MB ROM and 687MHz processor, the speed of the phone will not be satisfactory. Also the 16GB internal memory will not be efficient and make the phone really slow. Nokia 701 on the other hand has double of the specs above except for its 1GHz processor.
If you are going to use a smartphone loaded with apps and HD games and superb
multitasking ability, then speed is paramount.

2. The symbian belle would be the last symbian update for N8 and you wouldn't want to be using some outdated stuff. Meanwhile 701 is due to receive the carla update (with Donna in line) with alot of exciting features like a new browser, new widgets, full dolby digital sound e.t.c. This update would also increase its processor speed to 1.3GHz. Now thats fast!

3. N8 may come with an AMOLED screen but 701 compensates for this by having the brightest screen on a smartphone.
BTW they both have gorilla glass.

4. You also forgot about battery life. 701 lasts about 40% longer than N8 during active use (e.g. talk time) Now thats huge.

5. 701 is much smaller and lighter. Its so handy.
Also its got NFC.

6. Nokia 701 has a 2D/3D graphics accelerator which is wonderful with HD games

7. 701 has much faster internet speed

This is a very funny question. You should try and visit a teaching hospital and see up to 10 people looking while your wife is being examined. Your wife is even an obstetric case where most of their privates and body overall look quite disgusting. I wonder what you will say about gynaecological cases esp infertility where they are quite young and beautiful. Moreover its not advisable for a doc to examine a woman without another lady there.
Do you think you think its only your wife that has privates? That doc must have examined countless number of privates while in med school.
Have you heard of exams like DRE (where you put your hand into a persons anus) or scrotal exam. I've seen these done countless times by women with most of the guys having no qualms about it.
You talk about sharia law. I think its because people like you that northern nigeria has one of the highest maternal mortality ratio in the world.

All-in-all you have the right to refuse medical care from a doctor or not to allow a particular exam to be carried out on you. But you should use it wisely and not over trivial issues.

To those asking what goes on in the docs mind.
Let me say med students start learning about these structures from 2nd yr using texts and teaching aids and its not until 5th year they really start vag. exam. By then most of those impulses would have be suppressed or absent within the exam room. He would have done countless b4 graduating and specializing. Its just like asking why do docs have no feelings toward dead bodies. So most times they feel NOTHING. But there would always be perverts.

The app is cool. I use it on Nokia 701 symbian belle. So I don't think its limited to android.

I know this topic is not about symbian but since we're talking about smartphones I think I should digress a little bit.

I use Nokia 701 running symbian belle and all the android fans I've come across have not been able to give me cogent reasons why android is better. But on the other hand I always give them baffling reasons

It may have been a mid-end phone when it was released but its quickly becoming a low-end android phone.

If you think you would experience what all people are saying here then u need to have a rethink.
IMO any android phone with lower specs than this is now worth it: 512mb Ram, 1GB ROM and 1GHz CPU processor speed. Also check out the battery life and the android version it runs
