joeydozzy: Good for you. thank god you admitted there's no setcpu, using already fast phone ain't an excuse. There are tweaks to speed up my device. But with a 1.3 GHz processor, my device is fast enough and thats not top on my mind. I hope you also know that overclocking your cpu will mean a very horrible battery life on a device whose battery life is already shit. I wonder why you also left out the part about heating up and stability. |
Mafia4life: Playing PS1 games on Andriod. I used PowerISO to Copy CD into .daaYour post shows you know absolutely nothing about symbian. Even earlier symbian phones that have been discontinued have multiple emulators that can play not just ps1 games but several other platforms. You may have had a point if you were talking about current HD games not some old ps1 stuff. And like I said, I'm not done with the over 50 HD games available on symbian belle. forex trader- I'm not into that, but a simple search on Ovi shows several forex trading apps. Programming- you should visit Nokia beta labs which is their developers site. They should have stuff 4 dat. |
joeydozzy: I'm a Nokia fan. I've used more symbian phones than any other in my life. I decided to move not because they don't have apps which clearly they do but I opted for quality which clearly they don't. I would have gone for apple cos they got the best apps but just because of their restrictions and their big boy apps, I couldn't move. You need to use some of those apps on your Nokia on an Android and see the difference. For now Android is the most comfortable platform I know. You don't sound like an Android hater but just prefer your Belle. I'm totally okay with that. The only place I've got problems is comparing the 2 just like comparing apple and Android app wise. Peace out |

Peace outO.K you want me to believe the 450,000 apps do 450,000 different things? You really are a funny dude. Why not you start by telling me about your important installed apps and I will give you versions for symbian. Or we can take a look at apps and games which run on the 3 platforms and you try telling me the difference. I've played some HD games which were both on belle and ios and I can boldly say that there was no difference. If you are talking about HD games, then you may have a point cos symbian has fewer. And its not like I've played up to a third of the over 50 HD games available for symbian. Moreover, j2me versions of the games are usually released prior to their HD versions. So you can keep yourself busy with those. But If you are talking about important apps them your point is baseless |
dmainboss: @Jedisco, you went online and posted a link from nokiapoweruser.com. What would you expect them to say. If you are going to do a review, always post reviews from neutral sites or users.I still don't get your point with all these stories. What I'm trying to say is that at some point symbian was shitty but currently with Nokia belle, it measures up and so I personally think Nokia will dump symbian but support belle. You say its an imitation either cos you're a fanboy or cos of the influence of bad press. Most of the features of belle were ported from Meego OS and not android. If you think that Nokia will still move over to android then you're dreaming. At most they can build a new OS with features ported from Symbian, Meego and Windows. Which is what I see them doing with Nokia belle. Also who says others do not copy. Afterall Nokia first started the online app store before apple copied it. Moreover the quick advancement being made in the mobile world is because of competition. Nokia joining android kills that. About the link I posted, I did it because it brought into focus Belle FP1 and it was very objective. If you think they were biased, why not point out their flaws. Atleast they didn't say Belle is better because Android sucks. They gave reasons. |
Please has anyone been able to get MSDict 7.2 audio dictionary to work? Also If anybody has the keygen for MSDict 5.1 dictionaries, pls post. I had them before but lost them and all the ones I.ve seen online are not working |
Ogidi-Olu:The thread has really been beefed up. I think it can go on to become the official symbian thread just like that of android and ios |
@temmy If your major reason for flashing is to customize the .mif files then I suggest you joshlog app ( or tweak for fp1 users) as it makes the .mif files load from e/resource/apps. So all you've got to do is just replace and restart. Except for the avkon and splashscreen where you would have to disable it before replacing. Also i think there is a repository tweak that can be activated trough Rom patcher that makes it load without restarting or restarts it automatically. Tried it for sometime but its quite unstable |
Ogidi-Olu:About the Webster stuff, even if you disable the auto updates, it still connects after sometime to check your keys. See whether you can activate them after re-installing the reader again. Them go to Netqin under network settings and firewall and disable any thing that has to do with any of the Webster dictionaries. Mind you they may be multiple especially for the reader. If you cannot activate it after re-installation then I guess you would have to wait till you format your phone cos some of these apps can store info about keys even when deleted |
Hmm... Saw Ogidi on one symbian vs android thread and he reminded me of this @Temmy, I must say you've done a good job |
@topic I saw something on this online sometime ago so I've searched for it and pasted it here http://nokiapoweruser.com/2012/05/21/symbian-belle-vs-android-updated-with-belle-feature-pack-1-inputs/ Symbian Belle VS Android: Aso let me know what you guys think |
@dmaine Let me also add that the official name for belle is NOKIA BELLE and not Symbian belle so Nokia may stop producing symbian phones by 2016 and still continue support for Nokia belle series Also about the computer to phone stuff, have you heard of Nokia drop? For cloud memory check cute box |
Ogidi-Olu:I really don't follow threads for very long but let me search for it and see whats going on there |
For those who think android is better, I would like to know what your android does that symbian cannot do cos everything I'Ve heard people scream here can be done by symbian. Don't just come and say android is better. Give reasons And by the way, several apps for the blood pressure and temperature stuff are available on Ovi store. Also lets take it easy with this 450,000 apps stuff cos 95% of them are either useless or inferior duplications. Ovi store has over 200,000 apps, but let me ask you how many apps you have installed on your phone? There was a review sometime ago online that showed all the major apps for android are also available for symbian. So these numbers are useless |
dmainboss: I can see ya'll are avoiding ma question. Its all good then. I can understand! You lot don't have an answer for that. The fact is that Nokias plan to move to windows was based on the poor reception for their early S^3 OS versions. And the fact is that those versions were shitty. This has all changed with the coming of belle and especially the FP1 update. The major problem with symbian now is the bad press its got cos of previous versions but the current Belle FP1 measures up to any other OS out there. And from current indications, it seems Nokia will back track against their earlier statement cos their current windows phones are doing poorly. Also Nokia is still pushing out and announcing more updates for symbian. Most of the Nokia news around bothers on their symbian devices. They have also decided to make more Meego OS devices which was previously thought to be closed. So it seems they may not close symbian in 2016 again. Even if they do, they would have to beef up the Windows OS with some symbian stuff but from current indications (like the Microsoft apps update for belle) it looks like the reverse is the case And lastly what OS do you think the current Nokia flagship device (808 pureview) runs? |
kheart: Lagos drs are ingrate wat ll d drs in my state do when dey only collect less dan 60k as salary. Please which state is that? I really don't think any state pays doctors less than 60k |
oluchy: Please I need help. My N9ne and Nokia Suite have refused to to indicate thatan update from Anna to Belle is available. They both say no update is available. I bought the phone pre order in 2009. Please what should I do.N9 runs the MeeGo OS while Anna and Belle are versions of Symbian. Its like trying to run a symbian app on am android device. So you can't update it to Anna or Belle. However, it may have its own updates |
omoboy08: Pls house dont abandon me ooo. I need help to get bak my 701 nokia storeI take it you did a 3 button hard reset on your phone and thereby deleted some apps that came with the phone. You can download the latest Nokia store from beta labs but that may not install especially if some Qt components are missing. Better still, check this link http://www.n8fanclub.com/2011/08/how-to-flash-symbian-belle-update-on.html?m=1 scroll down to the area where the links for custom apps are and you can then choose the ones to download |
Alusi Okija: I simply infered. . .The problem with you is that you easily jump to hasty not-so-well thought out conclusions. I'm sure thats why you were banned. Well what I was trying to say is that I don't buy the idea that diseases are caused by the devil or some fetish stuff. I don't believe in blaming everything on the devil rather I believe in well thought out and proven disease processes. But there are somethings I may never understand and since I believe that God exists, then common sense tells me that the devil also exists. Afterall light only has meaning cos we have experienced darkness. Also if God can do some things, then the devil can also do stuff. But we as humans remain the ultimate beings on earth and we affect every activity. So even if some are caused by the devil, they can be treated by man. |

Okija_juju: So!!Pls don't put words into my mouth. If you think Jesus can heal, then Satan should be able to cause- thats according to you. Again I used the word MOST |
Okija_juju: Yoou dey madt gan!!Na u sabi |
Okija_juju: Shey you see me for dream abi you don dey madt!!I can see you are one of the numerous jambites we have on NL. I said it has made me NOT SEE |
Medicine has really changed alot of my views about religion. Among others, it has made me believe that women should be offered contraception and they should have a choice on whether or not to keep their babies. It has made me see religion as a tool that if not properly utilized, can be used to put people in bondage. It has made me not see the devil or juju as the cause of most diseases (esp mental diseases). It has made me see some churches, pastors and priests and just being there to milk naive people. Most importantly, it has strengthened my belief in God. It has made me see God as the reason for my existence. It has given me the utmost reassurance within that God cares about me. It has made me see medicine as not anti-religion but as a friend to religion |
So this thread has finally been posted on the front page. I may re-follow it for sometime |
chuksbogus: @tesaxxpet u ar so dumb dat u talk befor thinking.is house job not internship?they ar bloody student up to senior reg,its only a consultant dat is a consultant others dey learn.they should go and sit down.shebi other doctors that ar loking for job ar takin their job, those one no need teaching allowance? You are a quintessence of the group of people I refer to as 'unfortunate medical doctors'. Its no ones fault you turned out the way you are. |
deandavid: let me ask u sir, how many people took part in this poll, did u vote? Did any nldr vote? I believe 50% if not more ,tha are ict incline didnt even know abt dis poll, and according to my satistics, the users of the internet in nigeria are not up to 50 million, so how did they get 80% nigerians to vote? Abi na almajiris, wen neva fit read book na him do dis poll? Or na d market women 4 effurun and igbudu market do dis poll. Even the aware nigerian students that are more 30% of nigerians have not even seen this poll. so the answer is....FALSE!!I don't know how the poll was done and I'm not here to prove its credibility. But let me ask you which group of people do you think influence elections through their votes? Is it the ICT professionals, professors, those who have access to the internet e.t.c. Or the illiterate almajiris, bread sellers, okada riders e.t.c. Which group do you think are ready to go out and vote and even fight to protect it just because of #500 or some measures of rice. Then lastly which groups do you think should ideally consist the sample population in polls like this. The problem with most of you is that you base your opinion on what you read here forgetting that almost 70% of Nigerians live on less than N160 a day. Do you expect this ones to use their meagre income on internet bundles? The fact is that the majority of the relatively few Nigerians who use the internet, use it for social and entertainment purposes mainly and do not have time for all this talk. This is the major reason why the political situation in NL is very different what goes on in Nigeria |
When I look at most of these computer political analysts, I can't help but laugh. Well from recent history, its clearly evident that the political situation on NL is the exact opposite of what is going on in the real Nigeria. What I know for sure as a Nigerian in touch with the reality of the way Nigerians think is this: that if the last elections were conducted again, GEJ would still win even with a greater margin because Nigerians would still vote for him i.e they approve him |
texazzpete: Dude, this is 2012. I cannot remember when last I ever thought about doing a file transfer via bluetooth. If you don't have a data plan to enable you send your files by email, why are you using a smartphone?I was just reading along and smiling until I saw this. Infact it really drove me insane. Did someone just type this? 1. This is 2012 and its absolutely naive for someone to be making a case supporting the absence of the Bluetooth feature on mobile devices. Dude did you just mention email? Its like saying one should buy a laptop without wifi cos it has a port for a usb modem. So if someone sees a picture or song on my phone and wants it, I would have to send it through a mail? In 2012? Man you've got no point here. I even thought you were referring to NFC support only for you to mention email. 2. Java althoug quite old still comes in handy for me as I've got a few java apps which I use quite often and its a feature I will still like available for the time being. 3. Did you just mention .zip being a niche item? You've got alot of explaining to do there. C'mon, my file manager and zip manager come in just as handy. Over 50% of files I download online are in zip format. So you mean I would be unable to use this files on a smartphone or I would have to look for their native formats which are most times unavailable. 4. You've never wanted to save a webpage? Man if you want to lie to us, tell ur a lie you would believe. I will pay to have some of my saved web pages In summary, if you're going to make a point for ios, then you should understand that all mobile platforms be it symbian, windows, android e.t.c have their flaws. You don't get any point by trying to deny them. You should rather focus on the high points of your device. Mind you I'm not in support of android, I just don't like people insulting my intelligence. |
@Kambili The point I want to make is that her reaction to the situation was a very good one and not one of someone who is naive or stvpid, but of someone who is mature. About the cheating stuff and women, I was speaking in general terms and not isolated cases. No matter how you paint it, women are wired in a different way from men. Alot of things that cause issues between women are seen as nothing by men and vice versa. No one is saying they don't get hurt as much, but a combination of their nature, environment, culture, religion and biological factors enable them to let go more easily than in comparison to men. And you should know that the so called men also stray. In summary: cheating from either of the spouses is wrong but people should learn to think things over before acting, keeping in mind their intended result and not act based on emotional reflexes. |
kambili190: and I pity the woman that marries you because you act like it's normal to s.it on your wife. sorry for the expression but nothing can describe it any better.Firstly, nowhere did I in favour of her husband. But like I said, an eye for an eye and the world goes blind. I am just not in support of the way you make her look naive and foolish, when to me her response was wonderful. Me dealing with a cheating wife involves alot of things. First understanding how men and women generally react when cheating. A man may love his wife and home who are perfect and still engage in one or two flings, but when a woman cheats, its usually because she lacks something in that union and she is emotionally drifting away from it. Secondly, the circumstance under which it occurred and her reason for doing it. Also how long has it been going on, whether its the first time, who is the other man involved e.t.c I will also look at my ability to move on from the event knowing fully well that women, by their nature find it easier to forgive cheating spouses. Its not that men cannot forgive, but they find it harder dealing with the image of another man on their wife- Its just nature. So I will have to take alot of things into account. But I'm still asking, if you were her what would have been your response? |
obasijoy: @jedisco she can stop it by making her husband to be more spiritual in the things of God. When mine started, what she displayed was exactly what I displayed. But it got worst b/c he believed that at most he must beg me and pretend as if he was crying and I will still forgive him. This continued till a year and some months of my marriage and I was seriously in pain, heart broken and crying always. I don't know how to double date if not I for have done it and pretend as if all is well. Where it hurt me most was, I know that I am very young, pretty, sexy and very romantic on bed but don't know his problem. Though I thank God after everything we are now divorced and I am living very happy with my son. Please let her make her hubby to be more spiritual. It will really help.Maybe I didn't get you right, but from your posts it was like you were telling her to divorce him. Spirituality? It may only help if he really wants to change and has some strength or determination to do that. But as she said, it seems as though the guy is spiritual enough. Sorry for your experience. But since they are alike, I would like to ask if in retrospect, you think there were somethings that would have saved your marriage if you did them? Atleast she can learn from you. P.S I'm not taking the blame from your spouse or hers but like they say 'an eye for an eye, and the whole world becomes blind' |
