ZnO:what a perv |
ZnO:you must be obsessed with me. i can see IYA NGBALI:rotfl |
ZnO:lol. this is exactly why Nigeria has not has a Igbo president in ages. God knows we might even never have one (if we split). I personally will vote for Ngozi as president if she accomplishes enough as finance minister for Nigerian people. World Bank for example doesn't have a good track record of helping African people positively. and that is one reason why I don't care too much for her. who knows if she really represents Nigerian interests or World bank interests. I would vote Fashola over Ngozi anyday. and Fashola hasn't accomplished anything according to your silly definitions of success.but he has accomplished plenty according to my definition. |
congrats to him. but I will have to say that the Niger Govt is either silly or out of it's mind! this guy will be serving UK interest not Niger interest!! ![]() Anyone can know this just by reading his credentials. It's all UK based. he might as well be UK ambassador to Niger ![]() |
To the rest of Nigeria she is just human but to Ndigbo, she is super-human. I'm not sure they see her as God but I could be wrong!I'm just starting to realize that as well. Igbo people definitely see her as God. lol |
ZnO:no woman is the most successful woman. tayo ogunlesi is just one of THOUSANDS of successful yoruba women. and I used that example because she was mentioned in the video on the first page. i'm sorry if Ngozi is your idea of the most successful woman.lol |
Zno, your stupidity is out of this world. Ngozi herself would be disgusted. Why would she quit World Bank to come back to Nigeria if her definition of accomplishment were close to yours. In fact, I think her starting as finance minister in Naija is the BEGINNING of her accomplishments. i'm sure she feels the same. otherwise, she would have stayed in WB. |
aww see GEJ when he was still a "future president" |
I definitely do not think that there is a single most accomplished person in Nigeria or any particular country. People have different areas of interest and the accomplished ones excel at it. you should try rewatching the video. at min 17:45, the only other woman Ngozi mentions as an example of successful African women is Adenike Ogunlesi. a Yoruba woman. |
ZnO:[sarcasm]accomplished based on what definition? this one? [\sarcasm] ZnO: |
ZnO:Lots of Yoruba women are more accomplished than Ngozi. Ngozi herself will be the first one to admit to that. I feel sorry for you that you value your worth based on what western institutions you are accepted in. u need to grow up. I do not believe for one second that you are a professor. maybe if you said TA then I might believe. |
^ hahaha ![]() |
SEFAGO:you are also right. it's all how you look at it. I think Seannet's comment was from a more broader perspective and not particularly about the content of the ted talk alone. ex. she voiced optimism about the success of her strategy to increase foreign exchange reserve. the irony is that the reserve is being depleted due to corruption and is no longer a success story. https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-621378.0.html I don't think she's overrated though. I think she's brilliant. I'm just maybe biased against the world bank background and wonder if that will serve Nigeria well. it's better than what we used to have anyway. lol |
seanet02:lol. I think I agree with you. she's too influenced by World Bank |
ask her why she didn't invite you to the wedding. it could have been an accident. do you still talk to her everyday? why keep malice against someone you talk with everyday? a lot of invitations to weddings nowadays include list of wedding gifts to tick. lol to look at it positively, maybe you were lucky you didn't get the invitation. |
tom28:maybe she doesn't have one. it's not by force yea her family is beautiful |
YES!!!! kandiikane:good question. |
^ I think you should put a disclaimer in your first post to let us know that you are not the author/ do not share the perspective of the author. that will remove the confusion. |
who is she? she looks pretty and happy. ditto with the kids ![]() |

After the babies are had, there are still many years of left over for the woman to hold gainful employment. A degree is never wasted.this is very very hard to do. not a lot of employers are willing to hire someone who got a degree but has a blank resume for 10+ years. Even in western world where men do more housework and help to raise the kids, women still have a harder time getting back into the workforce if they leave for a while and many times are underpaid in comparison to their credentials, male coworkers. they also tend to work less hours in the office because of higher home responsibilities. so I won't be surprised if there are many housewives out there who are so not by choice but because they can't find a job after spending yrs at home raising kids. unless they have a financially ok husband to open a shop/business for them of course. I personally also feel that if more Nigerian women are career women, there will be an increase in single motherhood or tension in the home because not a lot of women will be willing to tolerate rubbish from their men need to start contributing to housechores and stop acting like oga if they want to have a career wife. because she is not going to be as subordinate anymore. |
