Much as I dislike a FULL TIME HOUSE WIFE, I also dislike a CAREER DRIVEN WIFE.I think the same goes for men. they should be equally focused on the family and career. a good balance is always the best. If you want a wife who can work and take care of the home at the same time, you (as a man) should also prepared to share half of the responsibilities in the house. Pls which kind of men are you talking about and which man would expect a woman to serve him food after a hard days work while he wont do anything? Are we still in the 18th century? No, we are not in the 18th century but we are looking at a Nigerian family. You know Africa is always 3 centuries behind in everything. maybe you are an exception to the rule but how many African men do you know who wash the family's dirty clothes, clean and dust the house, wash dishes, attend to kids needs (take them to school, hospital appointments, take them out, babysit them etc), cook for the family,do grocery shopping and take care of other shopping needs. in essence a man who does equal or more of the housework? always the wife does most of these things even if she has a career. my point is: if the husband wants a housewife, he should be able to provide all financial needs. if he wants a career woman, he should be willing to do housework. if he wants a woman who is both, then he should also prepare to be both! |
nice response dede1 ![]() the irony is that his lengthy article itself lacks much critical thinking I am also assuming that the OP copied and pasted the article from somewhere. anyway, @OP, here is the text from the link I posted. it would do you good to take a look at it: African Philosophy by James Mannion The African philosophy, in very general terms, involves a deep connection with nature and an understanding and respect for the inexorable cycle of life. Man is part of the Big Picture that is Nature and the cosmos. Man does not live by reason alone in the African worldview. Intuition and imagination are regarded as valid, and logic is not stressed as the path to wisdom. Emotion plays a more important role. Western philosophy has engaged in much debate about the existence of God. Ontological arguments, inductive and deductive reasoning, and proofs about the Immovable Mover do not figure into African philosophy. The fact that there is a “Force” is a given, as well as the fact that there is a spirit world that coexists with the realm of physical reality. The typical African philosophy maintains that there is an order to the cosmos. The higher powers (gods) are at the top of the hierarchy, followed by man, animals, and inanimate natural objects. |
africans do typically think differently from westerners. I don't think that either way of thought is right or wrong or better critical thinking .it's just a different world view the key word here is "worldview" read this for a better understanding of what I mean: http://www.netplaces.com/philosophy-book/the-forgotten-philosophers/african-philosophy.htm just the first 2 paragraphs explains the idea well enough. to be sympathetic with you though, I also feel frustrated by your concerns sometimes.and at other times, i feel frustrated by western way of thinking. I think that a good balance is the best. Even Einstein (who most would consider a western genius) quotes: "the only real valuable thing is intuition" Science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind this shows that life is not all about facts, data and detail! sometimes you have to look at the big picture. |
Jakumo:what about "men only" flights? or "gentlemen" flights I think gender plays a role. I would assume that women are not as irritated by child's whine. |
splashbaby:what about by gender? |
^ yea I like genny's skin as well |
gene looks a bit like my mom when she was younger. lol powers of make up hehn and that pic of omotola doesn't do her justice at all. I have seen her lots of times without make up (unless she wears it 24/7) and she looks way better than that. although plainer than with make up of course. |
I wish I could help. the sky is ur limit. |
ok I hear you. what state do you live in? and you keep talking about the girls. what about the guys? how many guys have you met who don't drink, party and have s.ex? I think you should start by finding guys who share your views and then from there they can introduce you to other people, including girls or their sisters etc. you need to find a new group of friends where you can fit in. it is very difficult to remain in isolation if you want to maintain your values. maybe you should change your church or find a second church that is more conservative. also, something to note is that people mature as they age. so you can try meeting women who are in their late 20s who are sober and ready to settle down. guys sober up as they age too. but girls sober up faster. how old are you? anyway, keep your head up and even if you do end up compromising some of your values, make sure it's for the right lady. |
kudos to fashola. he is creating all these infrastructural projects, but, where is the money coming from? and is there confidence that we can pay back international debts we might be incurring from these projects? |
this is a very weird topic because as far as i'm concerned, there are PLENTY of women that fit the description the OP is talking about. in fact, it is way harder for a girl to find a chaste, clean guy than vice versa. So I think there is a hole in the story here. I think OP should look at himself maybe the problem comes from him. I'm in yankee and I hardly meet a girl who does not drink goes to wild party and sex is just a normal way of life.I find this very difficult to believe. unless you are hanging out with the wrong crowd/friends, drinking and going to those wild parties yourself. |
lol @comments about her looking trashy. surprisingly, the comments were mostly coming from guys. it's just because of her figure that she has that I wonder though how she will look when she is 40. |
churches have taken over the role of the govt. |
Do public schools in Nigeria offer free or subsidized breakfast and lunch? Or is it bring your own food? (sorry if this was answered elsewhere in the thread, didn't read through)
no they don't. they can't even afford to provide free notebooks talk less of providing meals to students. |
now we are talking!! why did they wait this long? inequality will always lead to stuff like boko haram. northerners are not fools. |
i dun see the difference. ![]() |
You can read a summary of it on Wikipedia, or check the library for literature on the Irish Potato famine, the similarities are starkling.
that's one long entry. i'm reading it though |
^ yea. i'm not surprised about Ireland. even here in the US you have a debt crisis. and a financial crisis in europe. obviously poo happens to many countries. but most countries tend to learn from their lessons (or at least they try strategies to prevent errors) while african ones never do. we keep repeating the same thing over and over. ![]() It is fun and cool to put the blame on Africans or scream at white folks, but the truth lies somewhere in-between,you couldn't have put it better. the truth is definitely somewhere in-between. ex your example of britian as a "controlling manipulative and more powerful nation" towards ireland at the time. in this case, you won't point all your hands completely at corrupt irish leaders but also recognize an opressive british power as well. |
I don't know but I really like this olamide girl. maybe because she reminds me of a relative of mine https://img854.imageshack.us/img854/2058/25106410150273323152028.jpg |
Kobojunkie:I don't really understand your comment here. and i'm assuming you didn't understand my comment either. maybe it is even better this way. |
Kobojunkie:look at the topic title for christ sake. do you see "evil westerners" in it or "mumu africans" the whole point of this topic is asking ourselves why we allow westerners to exploit us. it's one thing to blame. and it's another thing to ACT on the conviction that the west is doing us wrong. |
How can we fight the "exploiter" when we readily ALLOW the "exploitation" when we play dumb year after year?there are different forms of exploitation. political exploitation, ecomonic exploitation, domestic exploitation, foreign exploitation etc etc. yes our leaders are exploiting us. but in THIS topic (read the topic title about land grabbing) we are talking about foreign exploitation. so let's stay with the topic. maybe create another thread for domestic exploitation then I will be the first to agree with you that we are being exploited by our leaders. I don't think I have ever read anywhere that the west blames the middle-east for terrorism.lol case closed. like I said, we are functioning on way different wavelengths. |
^ hmm you make a good point. maybe that's why lilian bach look like she could be liz benson's agemate. |
violent:no I can't join you, my brother. i'm not violent. pun intended ![]() aggression is not the solution. to me, part of it is foreign policy strategy and negotiation. I think this forum for example is an educative platform on it's own. but it definitely shouldn't end here. so, my bro, are u sharpening your cutlass for the revolution? but u gotta make some libyan friends for some guidance first though. |
Kobojunkie:it was an example. unless you want to start an argument about it which I am definitely ready for. people don't generally blame themselves for being exploited. you shouldn't! at best, you learn from your mistakes and FIGHT the exploiter. the way you choose to fight it of course matters. you could go the US way of beating ur chest and blowing up things. or the ghandi way of peaceful resistance or whatever. but the point is you recognized that you have an oppressor and FIGHT the oppression. |
violent:so what's up with you? how bodi, my brother @virgo, that is the gospel truth right there. that post is definitely right on point I heard it too that while ethiopia was suffering it's famine in the 90s, the country was a net exporter of food!! so instead of "charity" why didn't the west simply stop importing ethiopian crops and let them divert the plantation for sustenance cropping? the whole idea of charity and developmental aid is just a joke the west play maybe to laugh at us or something. lol what we need right now is a revamp of our foreign policy. we need especially good and confident leaders to handle our foreign relations |
violent:^ well, keep up the spirit and make sure to infect your friends with it. maybe then we might have a revolution in nigeria against shell oil company ![]() @ikeyman00, thank u jor how can nigeria even compete in capitalistic society when we have a "yes sir,yes ma" mentality in this dog-eat-dog global economy. |
