Well as for, most of gurls the i've dated, the love, the lust and attraction towards them died gradually, cos the more i live with them, i get to know them more, those things i taught i saw in them vanishes and then i get bored with time, the relationship becomes too dull for my liking - lacking dat initial glow, chemistry, fire and attraction that existed during the toasting/wooing stage.[/quote]and how do they feel? were they still in love with you? how did you leave the relationships?

What is missing from this debate is the gun control issue?

Why are U.S. politicians not discussing the gun issue? Is it, because the NRA has a stranglehold on the U.S. Congress?
these republican congressmen are even proposing to start carrying guns to protect themselves?
clearly they want MORE guns rather than less.

BusinessRe: Flower Delivery Service In Nigeria? by Jenifa1: 8:46am On Jan 12, 2011
actually i just did some google search and actually they may exist in naija. I will STRONGLY suggest you call the floral store to confirm that deliveries are made in Nigeria though.

google keywords: ftd flowers nigeria

example:
http://www.simonsaysroses.com/nigeria-flowers.htm (sevice to nigeria is not currently available. but call them anyways to ask if there are other ways/ sites you could use).
http://www.otlobward.com/owindex.asp?countryid=228

you do the rest of the work abeg.

comechop:
Any such thing exists? When I was in Naija, I never heard of a professional one.

Thing is, my girl is moving back to Nigeria for a bit - I already have a habit of sending her flowers at least once or more every month, and I dont plan on stopping.

Any one know of good places that can delivery good quality flowers in ABJ, LAG or PH?

Thanks!

p.s - yes my girl is Nigerian, but she is one of those rare kinds that appreciates romantic gestures like flowers, notes instead of your typica. . . . well let me not go there before I vex my NL sisters.
lol. there are many ways to show romantic gesture. no need to criticize those who don't believe in monthly or weekly flowers to show your love.

anyways, to answer your question/ give you advice:
how long is she in naija for? I would have said wait till she comes back and then resume your 'activity' but then I'm thinking since she's in Naija, she might appreciate getting flowers even more esp since the varieties and breeds will be more exotic i will assume.
the only suggestion I think will work is to try to contact event organizers. you can google them as i'm sure nigerians like to party and there are many event planners out there. esp. wedding planners. they should have the contacts for floral stores.
you can pay the store a one time fee to deliver flowers to your gf every month i'm sure that arrangement can be made. otherwise, I don't think you can order from abroad through any intl website. most do not trust naija to do business there beside, the demand is very low. I will assume only SA and other places with oyinbo population will patronize them most.

goodluck!!

AjanleKoko:
It's as a result of only one factor - neglect. Neglect by elected government, period.
I think everybody has forgotten about the youth. The very fabric of society does not cater to the needs of the younger generation. The school system in itself is not a problem, at least not on paper, but there's nobody in government who even cares about implementing the many policies. Since 1999, the civilians have done nothing to improve education, but has continued to starve the sector of funds for development, in fact even seeing an opportunity to further exploit Nigerians through the proliferation of mushroom private schools.

Consider the so-called UBE, which should guarantee nine years of primary and post-primary education. Is it even funded by the government? Is the government working to maintain any standards in the institutions? Are they building more schools, training and employing more teachers, in parallel with the growing population? What about the rural areas, is government ensuring that they get equal access to information? What exactly has any post-military government, from OBJ to GEJ, done for education in Nigeria? Zero. Rather they add more confusion by creating a useless examination called NECO, to complement the WAEC. How that has helped anything I am struggling to understand.

I went to school during the real free education years, before the civilians showed up. The army boys didn't have a problem with funding even university education, at least I still paid less than 200 naira, during the Abacha years. Now we have civilians, and an unprecedented oil windfall. We also  have well-educated politicians, we have even had two academics now as president. How much of the oil wealth has gone into education in the last 12 years? Zilch. And we like to say the military boys are illiterates. How ironic.
best post so far!!

RomanceAre You Really in Love With Your Partner? by Jenifa1(op): 6:14am On Jan 12, 2011
Sometimes, I feel like majority of people in a relationship are not "in love" with their partner. Or they are waiting for the love to develop over time.

To me, it's difficult to have a relationship where both partners are in love with each other. One is usually on the short end of the stick. That's my belief. What's your take?

the irony of the whole thing is when the guy is taken to trial, some lawyer will plead not guilty due to insanity, and he might get away with it.

The Most Confused Country In The World Is - Great Britain Abi Uk
the confusion lies in the fact that it is part country (where each entity is independent) and part kingdom (where all entities are unified. kinda how a member of any tribe can be president)
Missy85's explanation is very insightful.

to me, the whole royal kingdomy king, queen princess shenanegans ought to be abolished. the only reason england refuse to abolish it's imperial legacy is because it still wants to hold on to its remaining colonies.
there will always be confusion when a  modern and contemporary country is still acting the role of a kingdom.

PoliticsRe: 79.6% Students Fails Again In Waec Exams by Jenifa1: 4:28am On Jan 11, 2011
this is not surprising news.

most secondary schools in naija are institutions meant to keep kids off of the streets and nothing more. (the 80% of kids who fail)
if you are lucky to get into a federal govt college or nice private secondary school, then maybe you can get a real education. (the 20% who pass)

I think what the govt can do is break down the scores by school type. then the answer will be very plain and obvious for all to see.

And yet they keep mouthing NO to submissiveness. In case anyone is getting it twisted, she DID NOT agree to quit acting for the sake of her 'love' for Deji Akande (oh, puleez, as if she would have done the same if her would-be hubby had been an ordinary N250k/per month banker). Interesting how easily they all submit to bo$$men, but if its a regular dude, they bare their fangs and scream  'Independent woman'! Bullocks.

What a wonderful world. Goodluck to her.
could dakore afford to quit her job if her husband were poor or 'regular'?
in this case, his wealth makes it easy for her to be submissive because she has nothing much to lose. But from what I know from dakore, she seem to be the ambitious type so I don't think she is going to be a slave for her husband.

but you have a point though. I myself am a bit pissed at her because she made an excellent actress. I wish she didn't quit her career. I hope she takes up something else. poster above me suggested talkshows or news anchor.
maybe even fashion since she's so stylish. I love her

like ppl already said, i'm sure she thought hard about it before making her decision. and she did what she deemed best for herself.
who knows, she might have other plans. ie going into the fashion world etc.

to answer the question about if I were in her shoes: that's a tough call. I don't think I can put myself in her shoes until i've heard her story.

but yea, ppl sacrifice their careers for marriage life all the time. especially women. kinda sad but it's life.

Before I used to, but now, I don't and the main reason is majority of Nigerians I met abroad aren't friendly, especially to the Northerners. Once I tell them Im from the North, they just frown and start pumping their faces and chest with some kind of air of arrongance and intimidation. Some even had the nerve to ask me how did I get here? Is my father one of the thieves in Nigerian Gov't?
hhaaaaa can i meet you pleasehuh tongue
I've never met a northerner randomly!! I only know one who i'm good friends with because we school together but I don't know any other!!

FamilyRe: I Regret Bringing My Wife Abroad by Jenifa1: 7:40am On Jan 10, 2011
You are right, most people will naturally gravitate towards people who look like them and share cultural similiarites and interests however the survey also demonstrated that white men received the most replies from WOMEN OF ALL RACES, therefore the question to ask is why is it that white men are considered to be good partner/marriage material over men of other races and in particular over black men by WOMEN OF ALL RACES?
is this a rhetorical question? isn't the answer obvious that whites have the highest status in society and are the most populous. people interact with whites more than other races beside theirs. so it makes sense that they will be seen as potential partners if there is a comfort level.
women aren't silly if that's what you are asking.  huh to me, I think media has over exaggerated the attractiveness of black male. they are more like sexual objects or exotic attraction compared to white males.
and on the other hand, even males will pick white women over other races besides theirs. at least that's what I think.
it just makes sense considering the population distribution and hierarchy of races in US society.

buzugee:
i wouldn't pay those kind of surveys any mind. those surveys are done by white men. tis another tool to propagate their 'pseudo-desirability' and superiority. white people love blowing smoke up each others butt. to be honest with you, on the street level, black men are more desired than white men. but in magazines published by white men, white men are supposedly more desirable.
you mean in bars and night clubs?  tongue lol joking.

Don't mind me, I know P Square, though I listen more to Classic FM.
But, thanks, Jenifa, for the idea:,getting celebrities to do the do. I wonder if they even sell the cotton thread any longer. But did you check the myweku.com to see the gorgeous styles there?
Perhaps, it is time to ask Softsheen Carson to do something. If their answer is positive, then I will invite you, Jenifa
hahahaha lol  wink I don't live in nigeria though. but thanks for the offer.

if there is demand there will be supply. i'm sure if people start korun-ing again, they will start selling the threads.  (they call it Ikorun right?)
do you mean plaits without extentions? people sometimes use extensions to give the appearance of long hair that we Africans don't naturally have.
FashionRe: Are Ladies Still Plaiting Their Hair Or Is It Old School by Jenifa1: 9:31am On Jan 09, 2011
yea you are old school.
most youth are not into stuff like that anymore. it's like asking them to listen to ebenezer obey when they prefer psquare and styl plus.
i hope you know who p-square is. lol

well, i see what you mean now though. good work and good luck converting the girls wink

If you want them to start plaiting their hair, you have to bring it back in vogue by convincing the superstars and celebrities first. these people are the role models for many youths.
