Katsumoto: Sis Mehn...these our ancestors are not playing oh... okay, make I correct... Sir, Elder, Chief, His Excellency KATSUMOTO! more layers to your agbada, sir! and I hope one bowl of fresh kolanut and a chilled bottle of schnapps will suffice to appease and straighten any feathers I ruffled ![]() |
Candour: @JesoulWord! but thing is we hardly take anyone's word for anything until we taste it ourselves lol. One preacher joked once that he has never seen a christian volunteer to be broke . So while many of us may preach it in theory, it is very difficult to walk out. But by the Grace of The Almighty, we shall! amen. |
Yooguyz: hey mods in the house, could you please monitor and moderate jezuspoa's post just to make sure its not offensive to anyone.tanxsNoted! |
Reyginus: A similar event happened few years ago in the catholic charismatic renewal movement .... The young man in question slipped a note reading, 'God said you are my wife' to a pretty young lady. The lady replied with the normal slang:'I will think about it'. On the next fellowship meeting she was to respond to the lie. This time it was the lady who did the 'slipping'. And what was written on the sheet of paper she passed him as we later found out was:'Before I agree, first of all, I'll have to ask my husband'. this woman is awesome! lol, nice! |
Yooguyz: @Jesoul,1000 000 likes for that post Reyginus: Abi o!My brothers na so oh...with the amount of people parading around claiming God sent them, God told them, God this & that...this is the age where we all have the Holy Spirit to discern for ourselves - and for that I thank God immensely! Imagine how terrible it is to use the name of God to tell a lie people no dey fear the All Consuming Fire, I shudder in my soul. |
I must have been around 10yrs old or so and a guy (in his 20s) who worked for my dad made this comment: "I will give up the rest of my life if I can be promised just 5 years of extreme wealth to live it up. I wouldn't mind at all" Even in my small head, I knew there was something seriously wrong with someone who would choose wealth for a very short time in exchange for his life such is the love of money & material wealth, it is the root of all evil.By God's grace, Proverbs 30 is the gold standard... 7"I ask two things from you, Lord. Don't refuse me before I die. 8 Keep me from lying and being dishonest. And don't make me either rich or poor; just give me enough food for each day. 9 If I have too much, I might reject you and say, 'I don't know the Lord.' If I am poor, I might steal and disgrace the name of my God. |
Hi Joel, I'm going to move your topic to the Nairaland section. It will get better exposure and the admin will see it. Cheers. |
old but good topic. frontpage plz: https://www.nairaland.com/633560/yoruba-religion-8-world-religions#15149100 also this 1 is good: https://www.nairaland.com/1250526/nairaland-religion-first-11-just
Submitted the first one...you sure you want the second one on the homepage? its kind of an in-house thread that may be ruined by troll-hardy front page posters. alfaman2: I was trying to decide whether to envy, admire or pity your husband but first want to ascertain if one exists in the first place.Lol. There's never a dull moment with you LM. I think everyone single or hitched, at one point or another - is worthy of envy, admiration and pity. |
hehehehe. Remember, "Isale is the cheekiest girl on Nairaland."
Lol. Only you can occupy that title, and you do it so so well . Cheers girl. |
There are 2 more pieces to the above; I shall commence posting as soon as our beatific mod releases me regular moniker. BTW, Katsumoto is good people. He just is a robotic dispassionate 'Japanese Samurai' when debating policy. Dude is harmless. And humourless. Typical Economist. What's your major, Kats? ![]() ***Runs and hide while singing, "ding dong the witch is. . .!"*** P.S. Gracias, Senora JeSoul! I spoke too soon. I will post the 3rd and final piece. Please watch my back, homes.
You welcomes most honorable sis. Post the rest...you back is watched! ![]() @thread, just wanted to say fantastic discussion from Kat, Cap, Shy, Vol & others. I'm learning a lot from your exchanges and thanks for keeping it civil! this is how to spar without throwing mud. |
Infallible Mod,
abeg oh...save such for only the good Lord above ![]() Please rectify Pyguru's hiccups by unbanning Isale_Gan2, and un-hiding my last post in the Margaret Thatcher thread. There is nothing wrong with the post. It is part of a long piece from NYTimes that I reproduced with attribution since some of our NL brethren may not be able to access it.I just untagged it a few minutes ago and unbanned your user ID. Go and post in peace sister (hope you've been well and all is sunshine & peaches with you dear). Cheers. |
CFCfan: Eba and egusi soap would have not less than 900 calories ... I actually learned palm nut oil is healthier than we might think, plenty of anti-oxidants. Of course, not in the excessive amounts we consume it. The Eba I'm certain is loaded with shege carbs = pot belly ![]() |
GraceBestowed: I'm on a diet, more like a way of life, really. It's amazing the amounts of calories we consume when we're not checking.Absolutely on point there. And totally understand the "way of life" part. I'm lucky in the sense junk food has never appealed to me so its relatively easy for me to eat healthy. CFCfan: 400 calories is fine for me.Lol. Just curious cos you rarely to ever hear anyone talk about calorie content around these parts. And its a very important aspect. I have discussed around here in the past about possibly putting caloric information on popular naija dishes. |
GraceBestowed: For those of you who care to know, this is less than 400 calories on a plate. Are you on a diet? or just trying to eat healthier? |
Richieboyn: Haba, that question is too private to be asked publicly na. PLEASE LEAVE MY JESOUL FOR ME O! Reyginus: Lol. I think he has set eyes on a wife material. His 24th rib as divinely proposed. Lololol.Lol...you guys are awesome |
cap28: You do this forum a great disservice by hiding posts unecessarily, i think your focus should be on the substance of what the person is posting and not on the words being used. I mean what was the point of hiding a post which is merely a quote from another source ? it makes zero sense to censor poster's views simply because they offend your very fragile and delicate sensibilities.I am simply enforcing the rules, I didn't make them sir. Bad language & insults are against the rules - whether quoted from a source or not. I have no vested 'sensibilities' other than making sure this place is conducive for all to discuss in a mature, respectful manner. Thanks. |
Fellow NLders, please try to make your points without insults, bad language or trying to circumvent the word-filter. Such posts will be hidden, and those who quote such posts will unfortunately also be hidden as well. Thank you. |
There will always be hardcore christians and atheists who switch sides. That is to be expected and such is the cycle of life. Some of his reasons are reasonable, and others not so much. His paragraph on science & the nature of religion are simply propagandized appeals to emotion. Any intellectually honest scientist or person of science worth his weight in salt will not attempt to draw imaginary correlations between science & religion. The two are simply not the same. And if you try, you will end up exactly where he is - confused. Uyi Iredia: Noted.Hey Uyi wassup dude? hows the search coming along? ![]() |
I want to know how God's voice can be heard. Some people say by reading his word(bible),I mean does readin d word of God religiously guarantees one to hearing his voice?I know he's alwyz near talkin but how can his voice be vividly heard or only anointed prophets av d grace bestowed to hear him?
Hi Samm_miey, let me assure you, anyone can hear the voice (written word, or audible voice or in the spirit or by a divine feeling etc) of God. In the scriptures we see God speaking to all kinds of people from children to priests, to prostitutes to kings, from sinners to roman centurions. All you need is a heart that is listening & faith to obey. The scriptures tell us that if we call on Him, He will answer. By faith, rest in that assurance. Godbless! |
alfaman2: JeSoul, are you married?Might I ask why you ask sir? |
I am glad lady, i trust its all good with you too .... Deep respect and love for you mama |
Its a Hoax. Learn to proof stories before posting sir ![]() Wasn't it just a few days ago I watched his interview on CNN? http://www.inquisitr.com/608507/joel-osteen-resigns-hoax-says-famous-pastor-has-lost-his-faith-video/ |
In my experience, the vast majority of people who use that kind of lingo "God told me" "God said you're my wife" "God led me to do..." etc etc... are typically telling lies. Godly people who truly hear from God do not typically need to go about chanting "God sent me/God told me"... If God has ordained a thing - it will be. Simple as that. |
Jesoul my homie ... Peace lady :-)
Wassup sweetie ![]() |
