Now viaro is in deep trouble! I just 'knew' somewhere that I've been drinking too much 'Cow&Gate' (afterall, my e-jailor commander Nuclearboy would not let me back on carbonated drinks!). grin
Hehe grin, bad Viaro, your elders Joagbaje, Jaffi have been munching on some solid goat meat and shaki and cracking chicken bones down to the marrow and you're still on Cowbell milk?  grin

How are you doing anyways?
I am well oh. And honestly gaining a new appreciation everyday for your entries. Not to shine your ego here but it takes massive effort to respond to these guys, going deep into muddy posts and responding in detail . . . you and TV do that very well and I salute. Me, I no fit at all, I just shake my head and move on. So multiple kudos and please carry on, like I once told your e-commander Nuclearboy (right title abi? smiley), don't let my mischeivious comedic drive-bys distract, please carry on!

Same way AA's and Latinos have their own awards so they can nominate themselves and win themselves.
But BAFTA, Hurt locker sweeping the most important film categories? shocked I rate that movie a very generous 70% and mostly for sentimental reasons.

In other news, I've been on a movie binge, recently saw a whole slew of flicks: Invention of lying (hilarious hehe), Up (not overly impressed), Disturbia (don't ask), Lakeview Terrace, Stepford wives, Precious and a couple more I can't recall now.

Aw, sorry to hear that Jess. Be sure to get some rest later.
My brother thank you jare, I was stuck here till 10:30 last night and back at it this morning . . . best believe I will be skipping some department meetings this afternoon cool

TV ends vigil and breaks fast - with rare tuna steak and avo salad if you must know - strengthened and ready for battle. There is much at stake. The beauty of the kings daughter has spread abroad and the finest gentile princes head towards the holy city, hoping for the reward of her hand. Hmmmm thinks TV, just enough time to put them to flight before dessert - apple crumble and custard - then checks flights to the east coast. No dullin' grin!
Honest, you and DS should get together and write a play! lol "apple crumble" lol

@Krayola/Chris, I really like TV's response to you here, I think he captures my sentiments on the matter quite nicely, if only I were half as articulate . . .
TV01:
A good point sir and as it goes, I cannot speak for everyone on this, so I'll outline my personal motivation

At a point, notions of heaven and hell did come into consideration. Along with the sense of the eternal futulity of the vanities we pursue on this earth and my very real sense of personal sin and hopelessness

There are at least 3 different schools of thought on hell and I personally can't claim any revelational knowledge about it. My best reading of the bible and consideration of the views of others does not lead me to the commonly accepted view.

But as my journey unfolds it is less about doctrine as such and not about rewards or blessings. Its about the relationship and my desire to know Him, to please Him, to honour and to glorify Him. My terror at the thought of forniction/adultery, is not so much at the consequences to me - which is less than my concern about the impact on others - its about the thought of damaging or impairing my relationship with Him. Perish the thought.

lol and here I was thinking you are not usually online during weekends lol.
Yes oh, usually smiley

Sweetheart you got it a bit twistedd on different levels, first off my little prediction there about love being in the bible if it was written in our times was only a reflection of how important it has become in recent times and really nothing to do with the topic at hand, what I wanted you to take from it was that I thought the law was too rigid to follow these days.
Too rigid? for who? smiley I find it a most blessed and satisfying "law" to follow.

Furthermore, you missed the point yet again about people complaining, I am saying that even when something goes beyond what should be accepted as rationally and morally right people would say things like hey I need my 72 virgins and next stop is to blow Jesoul's house when she is sleeping. . . . . . . Catch my drift?
Drift caught Chris. And that's where I always draw the line. The minute one's convictions and beliefs cross over and begin to affect others negatively, it is no longer their personal belief. The issue of abstinence has no effect on anyone but the believer in it.

Chrisbenogor:
I do not think the idea of waiting till one is ready for s.ex is a bad idea through and through, I think though that the decision of when should rest solely on when a person is 'smart' enough to deal with the consequences of s.ex. The age where one can get at least reasonably married these days is a lot different from when these 'inspired' men wrote these books, I dare say that if the bible were written in our times the instruction might be have s.ex with only your fiance or someone who you really love.
Not by a long stretch.

The bible is not against se.x, it simply encourages that it be done only in the context of marriage - there there is commitment and the two parties are one. This "love" nonsense is what gives loose men and women of today the basis to go round hopping from bed to bed and then when they fall out of "love" move on to the next piece. Sorry, I don't buy "love", if its true love it will not be afraid to commit fully to only that person in marriage.

But this is where I think religion sucks and badly at that, my dearest sister Jesoul is very willing to go without it if she does not find anyone, which is not a 'bad' thing if you ask me but what I need to underline is this, her decision is based on what she has seen in the bible and that is the feeling I get when I read lines like "na by force to follow bible' and suddenly I can see why people will continue to try and blow other people up. . . . .it is sad that even in the face of evidence people will choose what they see in their religious books. . . . .so one of the reasons why I can never ever be a theist in my life again.
Where non-christians are stumbling on this issue is that they think for a person to not have se.x in their lives is like a life sentence of immense proportions.

Christians have testified here how fulfilled they are without it, how happy and satisfied that Christ and the knowledge of God be our only pursuit - YET - opponents still imagine we're "missing out" and subjecting ourselves to some kind of sacrifical lack for the sake of religion? No.

Should it come to that, I will do so because nothing compares to Christ. Whatever you think you might be "giving up" is really a gain for the sake of the pursuit. So don't feel sad for us, au contraire, we are the most happy of men, the most happy.

Manmustwac,
Well what can i do then her student visa expires end of this month, she hasn't got enough money to pay her school fees and renew her visa. She can't go back to nija {empty handed} when she hasn't even finished her studies. To make matters worse students who are not doing degree courses can't work for more than 10 hours nowduring school term. She was kneeling down begging me to help her. Well thanks for your advice.
I dunno how feasible this is but can she go back to Naija before her visa expires, and then re-apply for a visa? would that work? Could you help her that way with funds instead?

Also are there company's that sponsor immigrants and get work visas for them in the UK as well? is there one she can try to get employment in for the mean time? or she has to finish school first?

JeSoul i understand where u are coming from. Being a lady u people have phobia for matters of this nature but as a guy i will always tell u that getting Green Card is not Rocket Science.I have seen people with tales esp girls that they went for interview and the officer threatened to jail her if she dint tell her the truth that the marriage is fake and she started crying that the marriage is fake but a guy i know was threatened but he stood his ground. For over 4 hours he maintained that the marriage is genuine and his application was approved. It all depends on your guts and the guts of your spouse.
For the guy given 2 years to return hoe he shouldn't worry. Let him apply for stay of deportation order and with the little time he should look for another girl who has gut.He will get his papers only if he can take the risk.
No need to panic.
One love.
oyewolejos,

Add on that all the money already spent, he's says he's better off going back to ghana in peace lol.

I KNEW you would abscond from this question.
Lol, you know DS, some of us actually have lives outside of NL and do not spend 24/7 here  cool.

Now what was your question again?
Deep Sight:
IF A CHRISTIAN IS UNABLE TO FIND A MARRIAGE PARTNER IN YOUR OWN WORDS, ONLY TWO OPTIONS AVAIL SUCH A PERSON -

1. Abandon Christianity or

2. Live the rest of your life without having se.x until you die.

I leave it to you to choose, whilst hoping that such an eventuality will never be your lot, so that you can see the real life consequences of the dogma you so lightly brandish.

I ask YOU Jesoul - if it so happened that you never found a partner (Jupiter forbid) WOULD YOU OPT FOR THE SECOND OPTION: A LIFETIME TILL DEATH WITHOUT ANY SE.X AT ALL? ? ? ? ? ?
This is why I told you I purposed not to discuss christian issues with non-christians - we don't speak the same language.

You see how incomprehensible it is to you that a person can give up se.x for the sake of Christ? In your reasoning that soul is missing out on a pleasure you believe man cannot live without, BUT to that person, they have gained a joy and peace and freedom from being bondaged, ensalved to their flesh.
Exhibit A: Paul. He gave it up to dedicate his life to God. Monks and nuns do this all the time. Kini big deal? There's so much more to life than se.x my dear, so much more. If only the revolving doors can halt for just a second to take a look at what's around they'd be shocked at how much fulfilment there is in a life live solely for God not self.

And this is even only in extreme cases. How many christian women/men have really NEVER found a husband/wife? How many? Cos I personally don't know any. Even a crazy friend of mine who I once thought no man could ever live with just got married at 26 last week, a full decade before any of us thot she would. As Tpia alluded to, it is very rare to even see the kinds of cases you're worrying about.

TravelRe: Arrangee Marriage by JeSoul(f): 9:47pm On Feb 18, 2010
One last thing:
Perhaps the most easily detectable type of marriage fraud is when a fee — typically between $5,000 and $10,000 — is paid to the American to marry a foreign national who wishes to live in the United States or already does, but needs to regulate his or her legal status. An officer with experience in an Andean country in South America told me that the going rate for a bogus marriage there is $5,000, while officers with experience in the Pacific Rim report that many intending immigrants will pay up to $20,000 to marry an American. There are undoubtedly some “fixers” able to find plausible American spouses for foreigners willing to pay cash, but it often is difficult for the fixers to make believable matches between foreigners willing to pay and Americans desperate enough for cash that they’ll sell their hand in marriage.
http://www.cis.org/marriagefraud

oyewolejos, I guess your $5000 was on point and so was my $10,000.

You HAVE called me a liar. Emphatically so. Thank you.
Common DS, I did no such thing. I'd like to hear from her her exact feelings instead of hearsay from a 3rd party. Alright lets say I take your word for it and she's been complaining to you.

Your cousin to free to denounce christianity and live in whatever manner she pleases. Again no be by force to follow bible now huh

Nevertheless that begs the question.

Let us assume that i am lying (which i am not).

It is not definite that there are many middle-aged christian spinsters in the world?

Is it not also definite that not all of them will marry in this lifetime?

I REPEAT; IS IT YOUR CHRISTIAN SUGGESTION THAT THEY SHOULD SPEND THEIR ENTIRE LIVES WITHOUT HAVING SE.X AT ALL? ? ? - SINCE MARRIAGE ELUDES THEM?

IS THAT EVEN REMOTELY NATURAL? DOES IT NOT REEK OF A PERVERSE ADHERENCE TO SOMETHING THAT IS SICKENINGLY AGAINST THE NATURAL ORDER? ? ?

ANSWER ME THIS AND STOP ESCAPING BY SAYING YOU DONT BELIEVE ME ON MY COUSIN.
Again, any "christian" that doesn't want to live by the biblical injuction of abstinence is free to choose any other religion or none, that allows them to sleep with whoever they want, as frequently as they want. No be by force.

Why do u keep changing your goal post?Firstly u said there is no where employment authorization is granted to people awaiting the outcome of their Green Card application but i replied u on a point of law. Secondly u said if your visa has expired u can never file for Green Card but i discredit your statement with a proof. To save u from shame u now said is not easy as i implied. If things are hard for u doesn't mean it can be hard for someone else.It all rest on mother luck and your spouse. Visa interview at the Embassy in Nigeria is not easy but people still get their visa without any issues.
Is only a fool that will doubt a proof.
Try as much as possible to stand on your ground.I do give a flying kick at people that cannot stand by their words.
Lol what are you talking about? I haven't changed a single thing I said. Tpia clarified by saying it was relatively easier compared to other countries and I agree BUT it is NOT as easy as you claim.

To your credit I just actually saw your response here:
oyewolejos:
before i say anything try check this http://www.immihelp.com/greencard/familybasedimmigration/persons-in-us.html. You raised more issues for yourself.
Firstly you said u don't know where they issue Employment Authorization Document to people awaiting the outcome of their petition. This from is called 1-765 Application for employment authorization. This can be filed with your Petition when you submit your application.  After 2 or 3 weeks they would send you the Employment Authorization which u can use to apply for Social Security Card which would enable you to work. Even if your Visa has expired so far you enter this country legally and was admitted u can file for green card.
Good, I'm glad you posted this info. Now it is not as "automatic" as you first said is it? This is what you said
After the marriage when u file in your petition they give u Work permit to work pending the time they approve your papers
Honestly I did not know you could apply to work if your visa had already expired. So I was wrong and you were right.

The bottom line is if u enter illegally whether through another person passport or cross the border then u can never never file but if your visa has expired more than a decade ago u can file.
Isn't that what I said?
1st, if you entered the country illegally in the first place, then all the above goes out the window. You'll have to leave and apply from outside
Don't confuse people here. Your knowledge on this issue might be limited due to the fact that the people u know entered illegally. U said it cost $10,000.U miss it totally. If u know your game very well the most would be $5,000.On the interview, it can be difficult sometimes especially when the couple are from different race but is not rocket science.U might be lucky to be asked just a single question but sometimes u might be drilled for a long time. Most people here always think getting a Green Card is freaking difficult so they are handicapped due to the fear of the unknown. Next time don't know here and tell us half truth come with facts to back your claims up.
I rest my case.
Perhaps in "heavy immigrant" states the going rate is cheaper, but up here it isn't. One of my friends paid more than $10,000 in total. I'm glad you also mentioned the interview. Yes you can be lucky to get a nice agent who only asks a few questions, other times you won't be so lucky. Just last month, another friend's uncle and his "wife" got caught and he has now been given 2 months to leave the country.

Getting "papers" in the US is not a cakewalk as you originally asserted.

JESOUL THIS IS A TERRIBLE FORM OF ESCAPISM.

YOU ARE CONFRONTED WITH THE VERY WORDS OF ST PAUL AND ALL YOU CAN DO IS DUCK BY SAYING YOU WILL NOT DISCUSS WITH A NON-CHRISTIAN? ? ? ?

ASIDE FROM THE FACT THAT THAT IN ITSELF IS DISCRIMINATORY (AGAINST ME: FOR NOT BEING CHRISTIAN) AND INDICATIVE OF A DIVISIVE APPROACH TO RELIGIOUS UNDERSTANDING, IT IS ALSO A GREAT WAY TO AVOID DIFFICULT POSERS. CONGRATS.
Deepsight, anyone who refuses to play by your rules is always engaging in "escapism".

You've made up your mind about Paul so why are you soliciting my input on the matter? I've already said I believe otherwise and that you're misunderstanding Paul's words and I happily leave it at that. Besides threads upon threads exist where these issues have been dueled out times without number. A simple search will suffice for anyone really interested in what Paul meant. May I also recommend biblegateway.com, commentaries section. Read to your heart's content on Paul's views on women - this is what christians believe and why, you don't need jesoul.

And yes, my Cousin complains to me. Feelings of guilt, etc etc.
I'm not calling you a liar my dear, but you must understand why I cannot take your word for it.

When you guys propagate dogma like this, remember that your listeners are only human and can easily become confused and disoriented given that your dogma teaches them to contradict the very essence of their human nature.

I cannot think of anything more sinister than that.
This is perplexing.

The poster is a CHRISTIAN. She asked a question pertaining to the CHRISTIAN faith. The responders are CHRISTIAN advicing her according to the biblical position. Lemme quote Krayola for you again since you musta missed it the first time:
And if some people have a worldview in which intimacy is seen as a gift from God, I think you should respect that, whether or not you agree with it. Abstinence can be seen as positive in the context of that worldview. It is a choice they have made, and it does not in anyway hinder your ability to chase your dreams.

Barrister Krayola I dey. I was trying to take my seat quiety at the back of the class but Deepsight kept calling me asking me to raise my hand and answer grin.

Krayola:
What is positive depends on context . . . . I think I have shown you that. And if some people have a worldview in which intimacy is seen as a gift from God, I think you should respect that, whether or not you agree with it. Abstinence can be seen as positive in the context of that worldview. It is a choice they have made, and it does not in anyway hinder your ability to chase your dreams. When it does that, feel free to raise hell. I'll bring the kerosene.
This is what I've been trying to beg Deepsight with but the guy no gree lol. We must believe as he does or else . . .

Deep Sight:
WRONG MADAM. IT IS NOT HIS OPINION OF ST PAUL: IT IS THE OBJECTIVE FACT.

This is the same chauvinist St Paul who -

1. Insisted that no woman must ever lead the church

2. Stated that women should not open their mouths to speak in the presence of male leaders

3. Stated that it is best for a man not to marry at all -

4. And added that men should feel free to marry IF they cannot hold their agro! It is CLEAR THAT HE WAS AN UNBRIDLED CHAUVINIST.

Must you defend every "man of God" ? ? ?

But that is exactly what the chauvinist fanatic St. Paul recommended, no?
I purposed while ago on NL not to debate "christian teachings" with those who aren't of the same persuation. So dear I state again that the above is your opinion of Paul. We christians believe otherwise and are entitled to our beliefs whether or not you deem them ridiculous.

No you are not. You have conditioned yourself to militate against nature and imagine that you are satisfied.
Lol . . . so Deepsight is dictating to me how I feel about a particular issue?  grin does anyone see the irony?

Deep Sight:
What is this? ? ?

Embedded in this statement is AN ASSUMPTION that everybody gets married eventually.

THAT IS FALSE.

My cousin is 49 and she is NOT married. Reason? She simply never found the man that gelled with her.

Now she is a christian. Is it YOUR recommendation that she spends thE whole of her life resisting sexual urges and remaining celibate? ? ? ?

DOES THAT SOUND NATURAL TO YOU? ? ? ? ?

GET HONEST! ! !
And did she complain to you that she personally has a problem remaining celibate for the rest of her life? or is she infact happy and content with what she is? she can very easily leave christianity if she wishes to to live another lifestyle such as yours. Why are you taking panadol for another man's headache? - a headache that you claim the man has?  grin

Deepsight deepsight deepsight, you never cease to make me chuckle with your bold declarations of personal opinion as fact, that you project onto others and proceed to demand that your law be the same for them.

Excellent! But Uncle Paul recommended marriage just in case people no fit hold body! Right? So Paul got it wrong there let's face it or run in the regular religious section circles. grin
And it is the same uncle Paul that talks in several other places about marriage and reasons to and attitudes to wife/husband and family - he goes far far beyond just marrying for seks. You're taking one portion of scripture, building your point on it and ignoring the rest.

jesoul, you called the question mischievous, mischief was actually not my intent. It's definitely none of my business what two consenting adults do in their privacy but are'nt you being too defensive? Just a thought. grin
Defensive? not in the least bit. You're both flaunting your "un"-abstinence and I say good for you. I'm just wondering why it bothers others so much that a certain group of people have chosen to keep themselves only for their spouse.

abeg somebody give me axe make i cut the guy down jare angry angry. . . . . am sure he wont go beyond this season angry grin
this season ke? I hope he doesn't go beyond the next episode. For real, I have been annoyed by him since episode 1 and it just keeps getting worse.

Recall the scene where he was updating president Taylor and Jack cut in, see the drunk, dazed, sleepy look on his face, with his eyes half closed - which I guess was his own way of "appearing serious". And his eyes were RED throughout this episode! did anyone else notice? the heck? had he been smoking a joint before he shot the scene? How he got cast is beyond me.

Haven't you heard of the saying 'Ladies First'? undecided huh grin After you jare cheesy
that is for only when you're holding the door open now  grin. The bible says the man is the head of the house, I will follow your lead sir  grin

I just think the cavs won't think twice about giving him up if it will speed up the acquisition of Amare.
Looks like they were indeed unwilling. With how well they've been playing, its tough to justify trading a good chunk of your team for a superstar that you frankly have no idea how he will fit with the team. It is still arguable wether Artest for Ariza was a good idea.
SportsRe: NBA Season 2010/11 by JeSoul(f): 3:33pm On Feb 18, 2010
Poor TMac, from Houston to Sacramento? grin well, at least his contract is up this year and he can go to whoever will pay the most for an old, banged up, under acheiving superstar.

And I dunno about Cavs giving up big Z AND a 1st rd pick . . . but Jamison is a solid solid addition. He will help them.

Rumor has it the Celtics are trying to get Nate Robinson and willing to part with Eddie House. Let the record state, that I jesoul, will cease to be a Celtics fan should such a stoopid trade of monumental proportions go down.
