I have no problem with a tattoo on other folks who are unsaved . . . but when christians start saying that a tattoo is ok then there is a serious problem. the issue here is that our churches have become whitened sepulchres . . . dead to the spirit and only interested in pandering to the masses to drive the crowd into its pews.

1. What is the sole reason a christian is here on earth? To glorify God and be a living testimony of Him . . . how does getting a tattoo achieve this?

2. The bible says this . . . John 15:19 If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.

Rom 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

2 And [size=13pt]be not conformed to this world[/size]: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

It may not specifically say a tattoo is a sin . . . well neither does the bible condemn smoking, having concubines, clubbing or disobeying the police.

Madam whiteroses . . . you got a tattoo to satisfy your fleshly desires to be like your unsaved friends. You can sugar-coat it all you want, you can request for "neutral christianity" to paper over the truth for you . . .

-In David's world, getting a tattoo is indicative of conforming to the world.
-In another christian's world, women wearing pants is indicative of conforming to the world.
-In yet another christian's world, listening to any style of music that aren't hymn-like, is indicative of conforming to the world.

I have no problem with christians who don't want tattoos personally and don't like them. That is your personal preference! You cannot project your own idea or conviction of "sin" onto others. Sorry, but to insinuate it is scripturally or biblically wrong is - wrong.

Like e36991 just said - it is a personal choice. And a christian's MOTIVE for getting it is what determines whether or not it is a sin.

Whether or not we have examples of mass engravings of tattoos by God's people in the bible is of little relevance.

  The bottomline is the bible does not forbid it for NT christians. Whether or not it is a sin to them is between them and God. Finito.

The reference to tattoos in the OT was likely related to writings done on the body in relation to other gods.

. . . and even if it wasn't. Last time I read the bible, we are not following the Law anymore. One thing that really irks me - selective usage of bits of the OT Laws that are mischievously presented as scriptural basis for a personal opinion the proponent may hold. If I don't like pork, I can provide an OT verse against that. If I don't like your long hairstlye, I can provide at OT verse against that and so on. Like you said, the basis for those Laws need to be understood in order to appreciate why God instituted them in the first place - then we can proceed to understand why, how or IF they apply to us today.

The scientist are now more increasingly accepting what the ancient spiritualists have been saying for millenia, that this reality is a simulated 3D holographic illusion, and it is very maleable if somebody knows how to do it.If this is really true, then it becomes very clear why such weird phenomenons can happen because the corpse and the bank notes are all holographic illusions anyway.
Can a dead body turn to or produce bank notes? I do not know, but i cannot and do not rule it out completely because i do not have all the data yet.That remains my stand for now.Let us all wait for more informations before making a final conclusion on what can and cannot happen in this reality.

But i tell you what, with the right 3D animation and special effect software, i can make a corpse sing and dance and spray bank notes straight from his/her mouth in a digital world created by me and it will look real if i know my stuff well and possess a good system.Just look at the kind of graphics coming out of hollywood, the movie avatar as the latest example.I don't have to tell you how convincing the graphics looked and that is only the beginning, the quality is going to get so goo that we will not be able to tell the difference between a CGI and what is real.

I am believing it more and more everyday that this reality that we live in is a computer generated 3D holographic simulated reality, so nothing can be too weird to me anymore.We can't possibly know what is real for us and what is not because there is nothing else we can compare and contrast this reality with.This reality is all we know.Unfortunately, we will have to die or sign out, as i like to put it, before we know what is behind the scene.
As for now, anything is possible, even corpses that produce banknotes.

The only reason it did well in the box office was cuz of the hype it generated and also that three D thingy helped

There're several reasons a movie can get selected for overall best picture. One may be strong in the script, the other in the visuals, the other in the delivery, and yet another in the characters. There are so many aspects to consider.

What Avatar was lacking in script, it overcame in delivery, visuals and characters. Do people even consider those who haven't seen Pocahontas (a suprisingly good amount of my friends) will see Avatar as a completely "new" movie? I haven't seen it in 3D so I don't know whether that's what's making people go ga-ga. But I do know Avatar excelled in the above areas and deserves to be among the finalists.

If it were in my hands to give, I would give the Oscar to District 9 - hands down, in an instant.

Yes. I have seen "The Hurt Locker". Its just an OK movie. Its not as fantastic as "Black Hawk Down" but just OK. The only reason I liked the movie was because of Jeremy Renner's character Sgt. William James. I gave the movie a rating of 82%. Sometimes I wonder why critics like the film so much.

That makes 4 out of 4 'critics' (lol) here on NL who have seen it and all characterized the movie as "average".

Funny, I wasn't too fond of Renner's character, though he was a strong character in the movie and pretty much the lead. I think critics like it because every year they organize a "critics conference" and pick an average movie just for the heck of it and proceed to annoint it the second coming. I don't listen to "critics" for the most part anyways.

Obinna, have you seen HL? if yes, what makes it good enough to be on the same level as D9, IB, AV?

HL comes across to me as a movie 'critics' and movie snubs love to embrace (there's usually one movie a year) but it just makes no sense. There isn't that x-factor, ground-shattering characteristic, that zing . . . just like "There will be blood", the movie had some good elements but overall, no big deal at all. Well just my little opinion.

Whoa!! Thats pretty intense. Just saw the first video. deep. U were pretty darn effective in getting your point across. It's funny I saw this today cause I have a very good friend that is an anthropology major and is really into African culture and history, and she called me one night crying, talking about how she hates the fact that she is white and has to live with what her ancestors did. She told me about that chik that was taken to France and put on display because she had a big butt, and stuff like that, and she was really upset about it. It's pretty scary when one learns all the lil details about the whole slavery stuff. SOme of the stuff is just unbelievably cruel.

It makes me sick when I see well to do Nigerian kids call the less privileged, ones that are in touch with our African heritage, names like "razz" and "local". I can't tell u how much that s.h.it bugs me. Depressing that we can take the culture of people that did such harm to us, and now use them as the standard for "sophistication". Fela called it kolo-mentality. It is still very much alive. But thats a whole other story and doesn't belong on the music section. haha.

Yeah for real, the history of slavery is a very very nasty and brutal one. To think of how they even lived through and survived is a miracle, not to mention, AA's and us Africans are still suffering the after effects and will probably still continue to for a long time. With knowledge we can continue to empower ourselves - lest we forget.

I've just sent you a link to the video. It was a documentary done by the African-American slavery museum in Philly, they enlisted a couple of us to put together a hiphop video accompanying the production. So there's 5 of us, each one focusing on a different aspect of slavery  - ie, the slave ship, the auction block, plantation life etc. Cool educative stuff. Mine was the Auction block titled "For sale".
Second video is simply a friend of mine rapping to me playing acoustic guitar, sunday morning service at a church.

My mum got me a piano tutor (was actually a freind of the family) when I was like 12 but she quit after the 2nd week cause I never practiced like i was supposed to and it was a waste of her time I'll give anything in the world to get that opportunity again
