Deep Sight:Yes sir, I dabble a lil bit ![]() davidylan:I am very interested in seeing the responses to this question . . . |
Rebarobyn: see drama . . . thanks for sharing! lolDavid, seriously this whole banning thing is ridiculous. We have asked times without number things be changed but Seun has decided to turn a deaf ear. I don't know if AKO is around, I rarely see posts from him in the section. |
Deep Sight:Perfect in circumstance every single inch of her down to the deepest crater like a symphony they play together atomic notes testifying to a brilliant creator the envy of her siblings in the universe she the definition of excellence some allege coincidence, something of a big bang her children insist the absence of a shaping Hand she laughs in slient amusement wondering if they ever considered the evidence if they ever considered the facts but they seem instead to prefer theories apparently harder it is to accept the existence of a God than it is to not. |
davidylan:ROTFLOL kai! see yab ![]() Noetic is currently being banned for trying to speak his mind. So much for allah and his "tolerance".I expect he will simply register again under a new ID? we will play the game as it is given to us.Rebarobyn:Lol . . . so you sef are here behind the scenes? Free entertainment for sho'! lol |
Bigmodo, share your testimony now I am truly interested in hearing what led up to this incredible change in your life - honest I am. Just tell us what happened so I can hush and leave you alone.Recognise:While I understand the rationale and intent behind that saying, I must point out that it is not an entirely biblical one. The bible tells us in many places we shall know them by their fruit. In John it talks about sin and how we can tell if we're truly saved or not. Because in many cases its not only God that knows, we also know too. For instance, I am 100% certain that Ahmedinejad is not serving God of the bible, neither is 50cent, neither is Oprah, and neither is our dear Tudor. |
Abuzola:lol. No Abu I was not talking about your parents as David and Tudor have pointed out. However, you may want to invest in an english dictionary/thesaurus, it would help clear up a lot of things I am sure . . . just a friendly suggestion . |
justkunmi:Lol abi oh. Yet we still love Jack even though we know his exploits are virtually impossible. I guess that is what draws us to these characters - that they can do and accomplish things that we can't, and we love to watch it! Vesc, Yeah read we should . . . hopefully sooner than later. Pardon the anecdotal insertions, I think I picked up the storytelling gene from my dad. The dude cannot make a point without telling a parable or two lol. |
This thread is evidence of what happens when zealous fanaticism is coupled with lack of reason, a union thoroughly enslaved to its own false delusions - the resulting marriage becomes pregnant with blind confusion, a fetus incapable of acknowledging, talkless of comprehending anything remotely resembling truth, and then it finally gives birth to Abuzola. . . . I'm wondering what we crime we committed in the NL religion section to be punished with such a burden. Unless of course he is simply here to provide much needed comic relief in which case it would appear he is infact a blessing in disguise - . . . and I'm inclined towards the latter ![]() |
Recognise, my brother true true . . . but we cannot jump the gun and celebrate alleged conversions without some evidence it is indeed a genuine one. This is how we got into trouble with . . . unless of course he is simply using NL to 'practise' ![]() Tudor, perhaps you haven't seen Bigmodo's previous threads in the travel section. The dude is (or is it was?) notorious for wanting to do anything to travel at any cost lol. Here's one of his threads: https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-229033.0.html |
spikedcylinder:lol nah, Steven Seagal is free . . . all those karate-ing - he has something Clooney doesn't. I guess I dislike GC more cos of the way he is fawned over like he was some acting genuis or ridiculously handsome - of which he is neither. Yeah and even Pitt too, I don't know what all the hoopla is about. You never jam. Awon aye followed Emily Rose to the last letter T. It was scary o, haba. 3.00am every morning with minions of Lucifer on the prowl and you were not scared?ROTFLOL . . . either Max is hardcore or she had the remote in her hand fastforwarding all the scary parts (I'm inclined towards the latter) I woke up for like a week straight at that ungodly hour of the morning . . . scary stuff. |
Deep Sight:Deepsight, did you lose your politically correct handbook? Islam is a religion of peace my brother! - despite all evidence to the contrary ![]() Jesoul - why are you checking into heart breakers hotel, is that your chosen career, breaking hearts?lol chosen career? nah . . . its more like a hobby j/k but its certainly better than checking into 'heartbreak hotel'. |
Deep Sight: davidylan:Deepsight, indeed how dare you! I am declaring Jihad on you ![]() |
Oga Bigmodo, Jesus has been my Lord and savior since before nairaland existed and He will continue to be until after nairaland is gone. You still did not answer my question, what happened? what brought about this incredible 360 degree change we are witnessing today? Is this your new hustle? or is it infact genuine? I am very curious . . . ![]() |
*Slightly offtopic* Oga Bigmodo, when did you become a pastor? This transformation is like night and day, and btw, have you given up the promise of suicide if you don't travel by the years end? |
spikedcylinder:hmm . . . I only watch Geroge Clooney movies when I'm paid to do so. To me he's terribly overrated & frequently mistaken for a "hollywood hunk" .
Just finished The Exorcism of Emily Rose.Horror. It's just an interesting drama, Not bad at all. Hope it isn't really a true story.
First off Max, I am proud of you, you're slowly chipping away at your wussiness lol. It is based on a true story, so how much of it exactly was made up is hard to say . . . but from what I know and have read, I would say the events in that movie are highly plausible. |
True and I will readily concede transcriptional or translational errors. But you must admit, the bible as a whole body of work is very consistent and has matched up pretty closely if not perfectly with many archeaological findings (though these findings to me are not what make it credible). |
chic2pimp:Lol. That's for sho' chiogo:Chiogo dearest I am well o jare. How is life at Amherst so far? |
I believe it is fondly called "Film Trick" ![]() and its true. I recall one episode from the tv series "Crossing Jordan". They found DNA on a scene and wanted to sequence it. Turns out I was at the time working at a Lab here in Boston that is a service center solely specializing in . . . drumroll . . . DNA sequencing lol. I did pretty much all the bench work during that time and for sample prep from start to finish, the entire process took about 5-8hrs. But on Crossing Jordan, she took the sample, tossed it in the instrument and presto! seconds later they had the results, fully analyzed on the computer |
KunleOshob: mazaje:Excellent response from Mazaje . Kunle can you prove Jesus infact did those miracles? don't you accept Jesus came, died and rose solely by faith? The bible teaches to believe by faith. However once you believe and begin to walk with God and in accordance with the scriptures, you will experience things, see your life and heart transformed in a supernatural way - these subsequent events are what fortify and increase ones faith in God and Christ but they are not the basis for them - or else the pharisees and co would have embraced Jesus after all the wonders he did. |
mazaje:But Mazaje these supposed inaccuracies and constradictions are debatable - with "experts" from both sides, neither willing to bend to a foreign viewpoint. But nevertheless I personally do not point to the "inaccuracies or inconsistencies" in other religions when evangelising mine. The bible claims an exclusivity to the truth, this is a bold and arrogant claim - from a secular perspective - and I believe it not because I have evidence but by faith. And I do not shy away from proclaiming it though I cannot prove what it is I proclaim with unshakable confidence. Is it faith that matters more or knowing that what you believe in is actually the truth?. . . .Both! I heard the gospel, I believed it by faith, and all through my life I have seen the unmistakable result of believing in this gospel, I have experienced things that cannot be explained by science or rationale. This mazaje, is my evidence to me and only me, that the gospel is true. The path to truth is not a universal road, we all get there differently - some will find it in time, others will not. |
Kunle, I believe you are condensing two very seperate and distinct issues into one over-simplified statement. 1. Paul taught us to scrutinize and test everything against and in the light of scripture. 2. This is very different from testing the scriptures itself. This is an undertaking (while in itself may be somewhat profitable) I do not think we are tasked with in/by the bible. We are preached a gospel, and subsequently expected to choose to believe it or reject it - not necessarily charged with the mission of researching and finding means to either prove or disprove it. The gospel of Jesus Christ was not meant to be proven - but rather simply believed and accepted from "start to finish", by faith. Extensive historical studies on christianity and the bible are definitely good, I'm not condemning that all. But let us not elevate such extra-biblical hobbies & assignments to a level the scriptures do not necessarily give them. |
A beg comot Bond for dat ya Can't Do list. Neo and Batman? lol you forgot Spiderman and Superman and XMen combined ![]() British Intelligence recently complained new recruits have skewed ideas of what their job entailed, from watching spy movies lol. The newbies bitched their work and lives weren't like Bond's. But MOSSAD and CIA and Russian Intel are the real deals man.Amazing spy technology and, esp with MOSSAD, mad skills. all those gadgets and toys and flying cars and shoe guns and one-shot-cures-all injections . . . I'm willing to bet even Mulder and Scully would find his supposed exploits highly suspect ![]()
I'm teasing. one might play favourites but how seriously can one take fictional characters like Bond, Bourne and the rest. She's right about how unreal the movies are. And new spies bitching and moaning being a spy isn't like the movies say? Doesn't that make her point? Lol
Lol this is just hilarious. . . the Kool-Aid generation of spies! whining that shyhood is not cool enough? lol Last year someone (whom I will have no problem shooting if I find) ran into my mum's car in the middle of the night, smashing the entire side. I came by the house in the morning and saw the mess, imagine everyone was still sleeping lol. Called the cops etc . . . the perpetrator had left behind his side mirror . . . my brother asked the officer, "well can't you get prints off that?" the officer laughed and said "no, we can't do 90% of the things you see on CSI" "We wish we could, but we can't". |
Vesc and JK, no doubt my brothers, no diggity at all I am and will always be a huge fan of Bourne and I'm waiting not so patiently for the 4th installment. In addition, I relish any and every opportunity to mudsling at that pretender, wannabe, womanizer, poor-sorry-excuse-for-a-spy known as Bond . Vesc you're a thinking man. Your detailed reviews betray your in-depth knowledge of cinematography *stands and applauds* Kudos bro, kudos. I haven't read the book so I can't speak to it but I guess I can understand and appreciate the dissatisfaction of the literature fans concerning the apparent ommission of a strong character. |
biina:. . . and what happened in the subsequent plays? they could hardly get a down. What was the total time of possession for Indy again? 5mins? ![]() |
Aight I'll go first . . . The Bourne Trilogy The Bourne Identity As with most trilogies, the first is usually the best. Identity crashed the waning, sputtering, life-less spy party and introduced to us a new kind of super-spy - not the cheesy, one liner, 'charming', Hot Bond-type spy that had been unfairly imposed on enthusiasts & punished with for decades. Nooooo waaayyy! this was a fresh, gritty, human, intelligent, smart, quietly charming, disciplined agent, who could take down an entire squadron with a rolled up magazine for a weapon - enter Jason Bourne - the king, the kick-ass of kick-ass spies. (Even the subsequent James Bond flick tried to yes, copy, mirror & capture the gritty Bourne-type by introducing Craig who was a departure from the typical Bond.) The scene where he's sleeping on the park bench, is woken by two police officers asking for his papers, he replies them in english then suddenly realizes he can speak german. The police officer puts his hand on Bourne, Bourne makes this quick movement to grab his hand, then realizes he can fight and he takes down the two cops in it seems nanoseconds! This ladies and gentlemen is where I fell in love I have no criticism of the Identity, probably cos I'm unrepentantly biased . From the plot to the cast to the action scenes to the script - everything was fantastic! Rating 9.5 of 10.Bourne Supremacy Not as good as Identity but nevertheless, it continued along the same lines of what we came to expect from the original. We see an angry and human Bourne who's girlfriend was murdered. He methodically and systematically chips away at finding out whodunnit leaving in his wake terrified and scared to the core trained CIA agents . Bourne is just as slick and intelligent and the action sequences are dope as well. The way he evades capture is brilliant to behold - if I were ever in trouble I want Bourne protecting me .One scene I love was when he called Pamela Landy. He says he wants to turn himself in, he asks for Nikki - a former Treadstone op. to be the one who brings him in, Landy says "well what if we can't find her?" Bourne replies "that should be easy, she's standing right next to you" and they all froze in shock and unmistakable fear on their faces priceless moment.I think they coulda gotten more creative with the script but I don't have too much beef with that at all. The new additions added to the drama and the return of old ones sustained it. Overall rating 8 of 10. Bourne Ultimatum The last of the series (so far). Finally Jason Bourne gets answers about his roots and what happened to him. In the customary skill of evasion and brilliance he makes his way to good ol NY city with help from Pamela Landy who's now his ally. Nikki also helps him along the way and it is revealed (not suprisingly though) that they were once an item . . . poor Nikki, it must have been hard for her. Anyways, I think the script here was weaker than Supremacy but I liked the overall set-up and flow of the script. Bourne has new foes who are just as good and trained as he is and they give him a run for his money. But still the lower level cops are no match for him as he eventually finds out where and how he came to be. It ends with him getting shot and falling into a river . . . they don't know if he's dead or alive. He's motionless for a few, then we see him move . . . simply beautiful, and that piercing Moby track comes on . . . ![]() Overall I like Ultimatum just as much as Supremacy and rate it 8 of 10. |
ha bullets work oh, we saw the evidence in part 2 nah but isn't doing the impossible the draw of these kinds of spy movies? I mean how "realistic" are movies supposed to truly be? James Bond cannot do 90% of the things we see him doing . . . neither can Batman, Ethan Hunt, Neo, Maximus, Sauron etc ![]() |
2 and 3 were overkill. . . . . It was needless. The longer Bourne remained at large, the dumber the whole script became. They made INTERPOL look like idiots. How smart is Bourne to be evading arrests everywhere he goes. I mean where were the gun tasers?
Or maybe because Bourne was just that good eh? I mean a top of the class trained assassin cannot be compared to those rent-a-cops at interpol. Which is why his fellow spies gave him a tough time and outsmarted him on an occasion or two.. . . and btw, tasers would probably not work on Jason Bourne ![]() |
Bourne Series? Bourne Identity is the best of the lot. Wombosi made it kool for me with his Yoruba lingo. The other 2(Supremacy and Ultimatum) were loads of trash. . . . . .It didn't really connect.
|
JK, forget now ah ah which one you dey. It will come, just hold on to your horses fella. I will try to find the prez for ya it was fun fun fun! I vote Vesc to go first . . . and sorry V, the polls just closed ![]() |
hehe . . . their motto should be turned around: Once? could be a mistake, but several times now, it has to be deliberate. Maybe I should employ this tactic on NL . . . Bawo I am converting you to a christian. |
MandingoII:What is there for them to go home to? Corruption? employment? lack of safety? no security? no basic infrastructures? no electricity? I know many many people do well for themselves at home but truth be told most people are by leap years better off abroad. |
I think they're a perfect match - freak for freak, shrek for shrek - I only hope they don't produce a kid, now that would be truly unfortunate. |

we will play the game as it is given to us.
After that, they probably bind and gag you to see that idiot - Zac Efron's movies.
- of which he is neither. Yeah and even Pitt too, I don't know what all the hoopla is about.
