David, pls don't get me wrong. You make good points worthy of note but the linguistic carrier with which you deliver your opinion leaves much to be desired. When you storm the thread and use words like 'absurd' 'nonsense' 'bogus' 'rubbish' etc you do not think that is denigrating?
Even if Kobo has been guilty of such in the past, we are all better than that. This is the same problem they have in washington. Discuss the point and not what you think the poster believes or who you think they watch or listen to. I happen to believe the whole death panel thing is untrue and stretched at best. And the end-of-life issue was also misinformation. But you've already come armed with a false assumption I supported or believed in it.

I said Obama did not communicate the bill to the people and he wanted to pass it before August before people even knew what the heck was in it. All kinds of information and misinformation got out and now most americans are against him - and no its not becos of Foxnews. Only now is he trying to do some damage control with the anecdotes and story of his grandma etc . . . the damage has already been done.

David,
Kobojunkie has said it all. I have given up on "debating/discussing" with you, you don't know how to make a point without denigrating the person you disagree with. And now that we've established you know better and deeper than the rest of us, I wish you well brotha.

Kobojunkie:
Anywho @jesoul, I am not currently following the news here as I got my fill of American politics back some months ago. Decided to just filter the news here and there but I get your point.
I don't blame you jare. It almost seems like a steady stream of negative news everyday. One is better off watching sportscenter  smiley  And this govt 'firm' you're working for  cheesy  I hope you're building a nice, fat pension for your retirement at 45  grin
Foreign AffairsRe: Cash For What?. . . by JeSoul(f): 4:38pm On Aug 18, 2009
Kobojunkie,
I tell you, I don't entertain anyone saying crap about the US. They should look at their own country and tell me if their log is not bigger than america's.

Pres-elect,
Even before I read your explanation, I knew why you called the big O stupid and if I were a democratic sympathizer I would be angry too.
When it came down to communicating the proposed bill to the people Obama got an F+. Maybe perhaps becos he himself did not know what was in the bill, the dems have ended up being on the defensive, trying to tell us what's not in the bill instead of telling us whats in it. Like I mentioned before I have researched and seen that there is some misinformation out there and Obama has no one but himself to blame. And I still can't get anyone to answer if illegal immigrants will be covered in this billhuh and how exactly we're going to pay for ithuh

I wrestle sometimes with the philosophy of both sides, as each has some appeal. Dems want to cover everyone regardless, Reps want to cover those who have worked and payed for it. Dems measure their success by how many people are getting help from the govt while the Reps measure theirs by how many people are not getting help from the govt. I think both sides are BS. There has to be some common middle ground.

I'm for helping those who can't afford it - a situation I was in very recently. Massachusetts has health for all, but at what cost? the state is on the brink of bankruptcy, city workers losing their jobs by the minute all in the name of passing a "moral" bill. We can help our neighbor, but lets take the time to plan it right and come up with a bill that works for all and will not leave us in financial armageddon.

Christianity EtcRe: Is It Ok To Pay My Tithes To Different Churches? by JeSoul(f): 2:57pm On Aug 18, 2009
@Poster,

You're not required to tithe, it is a choice.

That being said if you still choose to tithe, you don't "pay" your tithe to a church, you give it to God . . . whether it be in the form of giving to your church, another church, the beggar on the street, your neighbor who is in need etc . . .giving to God is giving to those around you who are in need not simply your chosen church.

Christianity EtcRe: Scientific Proof For Existence Of God by JeSoul(f): 5:06pm On Aug 17, 2009
Even if there was any merit to the above, belief in God is not now nor has it ever been rooted on the foundation of proof, but moreso and entirely on that of faith.

There is no need to show proof of God's existence, there is evidence all around us everyday - some choose to accept and believe and others don't.

Christianity EtcRe: The Morality Of Murder by JeSoul(f): 4:35pm On Aug 17, 2009
I think a basic definition is in order: Murder - the crime of unlawfully killing a person especially with malice aforethought

I will have zero problem killing in self-defense or in the defense of another who is in trouble. Morals do not have much to do with it imho, its a matter of cause, effect and prevention.

Christianity EtcRe: Should Religious Bodies Be Regulated by JeSoul(f): 7:33pm On Aug 14, 2009
Deep Sight:
i do think its is possible to prove the existence of God - if God is understood to be an element of Intelligent Design, however described. Definitely it is possible to prove Intelligent Design, just looking around the world and how specifically formed for purpose everything is should be enough to acknowledge that there is intelligent design. A mere glance at the palm of your own hand should show you intelligent design. What cannot be proven is the nature of that Intelligent Design - Is it a conscious supernatural being, or an element, or an astral equation of some sort. Whatever it is, it could be called God.
I agree it should. But it appears not to be sufficient enough evidence for the atheist.

I also agree when you said the nature of this Intelligent Designer cannot be "proven" - you're absolutely right. I cannot prove my faith or experiences to another, each person's path to finding and understanding God is unique to them.

Christianity EtcRe: Is The NIV Bible Corrupt? (for Recognise And Other Christians) by JeSoul(op): 9:17pm On Aug 13, 2009
No2Atheism:
grin me is supports

RNKJV - i.e. most of all the biblical names have been restored to their original pronunciation and spelling, instead of using english words.

A name is an important thing as far as spiritual issues are concerned, hence my reason for being careful about the name. For those who are interested in knowing what the RNKJV is really , think of it as a restoration of all the biblical names that were anglicised, hellenised and bastardised over the centuries.

Hence wen u quote the RNKJV is looks basically the same as the KJV except in the names themselves.

Cus in as much as "E ku ile" does not really have an appropriate translation in english, i prefer not to take the risk of using names the are starting to look a little bit suspicious to my liking. Hence my reason to stick with RNKJV wen i wan to say something that involves a biblical name.

grin grin grin grin

thank you
LOL grin comedian, you never fail to disappoint me except with gi joe. Well for the rest of us not on the level of 300AD old school 'english' comprehension abilities such as you have, we have to make do with more modern versions.  cheesy
Christianity EtcRe: World Fair Of Religions by JeSoul(f): 9:13pm On Aug 13, 2009
imhotep:
I found myself for weeks on end having to preach in a parish full of lepers and TB patients. I agonized over my sermon . . . what was I to preach to these battered people? Eventually I found the key. I resorted to preach about ETERNAL truths (these run very deep) that are applicable to any human being on earth irrespective of health status, creed, race etc. I read gospel passages and interpreted with these eternal truths. Many of them were deeply moved and a good number became much more spiritual and optimistic in their outlook.
Very intriguing stuff. The greatest hope you can give to people in this life esp those who have suffered so much is to tell them of the glory that awaits in Christ - what greater joy is there than that?  smiley

I know that you will want to ask what these eternal truths are. . .
You know me so well  wink . . . since I have some knowledge from your history here on NL and we have frequently discussed and disagreed, I am curious as to what 'eternal truths' you shared with them.

Oh yes, but too much attachment to (what I call) religion, denomination etc . . frequently leads to HATRED, BIGOTRY etc. . . the very things Christ preached against. While I remain a Catholic (in fact a Jesuit) I am training myself to be able to communicate TRUTHS to ANYBODY from any background whatsoever. . . the compassion of Christ does not respect boundaries, cultures, creeds and all that. . . I buried about 5 lepers, they had all been rejected by their 'religious' families . . .we had to become their new families. One elderly leper (still alive) requested that I be there when she is being buried . . . she is a great-grandmother . . . her descendants do not what to see or hear from her. . . she was not a Catholic when she was healthy . . . I ministered to her for hours on end. . .
Absolutely right! and the reason many many people have become disenchanted with religion in general. A central part of the gospel of Jesus Christ is love and compassion espcially towards the weak and rejected. When a family professing such faith shows a distinct absence of those qualities one must conclude the eyes of their heart are still darkened.

and the rest of us christians need to express the love & truth of Christ wherever we find ourselves - without prejudice or malice but in gentle firmness and compassion. This may sound . . . but I thank you for showing that love to others.
Christianity EtcRe: Is The NIV Bible Corrupt? (for Recognise And Other Christians) by JeSoul(op): 9:05pm On Aug 13, 2009
. . . and I stand by that quote. If I absolutely had to choose btw the NIV and KJV, I will pick the NIV. Again of what use is a 100% word for word translation accuracy if you can't understand it?

If it were the RSV or NASB I would drop the NIV for them but not for the KJV.
