banom:. . . its like asking how would I feel if I had never been born. Banom troublemaker you're asking us to envision a scenario that is virtually impossible and then speculate on how we would feel? sawrry, even my overactive imagination cannot begin to tackle such a false undertaking. |
Noooooo Waaaayyyyy!!! This was HILARIOUS!!!! Lol I read every single word (something I don't think I've ever done on NL). layinx, I enjoyed this immensely! you're a fantastic story-teller. ps. Have you gotten your luggage yet? ![]() |
MrCrackles:I hope the opposite . . . we need some drama in these early rounds ![]() |
See how this place resemble graveyard . . . who would guess a major slam was going on right now ![]() Anyways, Nadal vs. Gasquet . . . hope it doesn't bore. |
bawomolo:A very good thing for the Bears indeed I forget who now but some clown on the Lions guaranteed a playoff appearance for Detroit this year perhaps the NFC north will be more intresting than usual this season.By the way, Aaron Rodgers is having a sizzling pre-season, nobody is paying much attention to the Packers . . . I wish that boy well after everything Bratt put him through. |
Lets see . . . easy combinations for a bachelor who doesn't want to burn down the building? -Egusi goes well with different kinds of pasta - linguini, angel hair, penne etc -I've also tried egusi with boiled plantain - yummy! -Also I've seen egusi with bread pulled off, you can go for it if you're feeling adventurous |
Well perhaps not the cannibal tag . . . just the insult part. The prevailing sentiment here on NL (and I'm sure the country as well) is that he is guilty of much worse crimes. |
kunle93:uhm nah, I'm not presently in any choir. But I am a musician. |
Seun:but how much space does it truly save? couple extra inches? With their 1-2 kids per family, how many watermelons could they be buying at a time? no more than 1 or 2 right? I dunno if that's worth $83. Next thing will be square Oranges and Pineapples . . . but the whole growing in glass cubes was ingenious though. |
Vision is 20/20 with the contacts as of my last opticians visit ![]() |
kunle93:its sister oh my brother lol and no you're def no "taking up my time" . . . infact I find Nairaland most useful and profitable when I can discuss with people like you So how can we be sure we have true faith in Christ? The 3 things you listed are definitely at the core of the faith. -Relationship with God: Our relationship with God is most evident in the way we interact with the world. Does the way we live our lives show a hunger and thirst for the things of God? do we watch evil and immoral things without feeling guilt? do we dress appropriately? is our speech seasoned with salt and edifying to those who listen? do we "stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of scoffers"? do we rejoice at righteous acts? and burn at injustice? -How we read the Scriptures: are we diligent and prudent and dedicated students of the bible? do we rightly divide the word and not hold back from speaking its truth even when it is unpopular? do we spend considerable time reading and reflecting? - this is one area I've been struggling in recently, finding the time to devote to digging into the word faithfully. and finally -The way we relate with people (and more specifically, christians): Jesus said "they will know you are my disciples by your love for one another". Do we love, cherish and pray for our fellow christians? do we bear their burderns as though it were ours? do we give our time, finances, open up our homes for others? The other day I found out one of my neighbors was a christian, I was so thrilled and since then have been looking for opportunities to do something nice for them simply because they are christians. In addition, I always refer to the book of 1 John as the "test your faith" book because it lists a series of questions and tests to use in determining if indeed we are of the faith. Hope this was useful, stay blessed my dear. |

Max you should be a comedian. What's all this misplaced hype over ![]() |
justkunmi:You're right sha. From what I gather, the insult at Obasanjo is not entirely undeserved. lol. |
kunle93:Yes my brother and that is one the most beautiful things about faith & God's grace - we can do nothing to earn it and we can do nothing to keep it! it is given to us freely and we receive it by faith and this faith is "not even of ourselves" but grows as Christ works in our hearts. Our sins (committed in the past and to be committed in the future) will never be held against us - it was always impossible for us to keep the Law because of our sinful nature. The purpose of the Law was to show us how sinful we are and point us to Christ - beyond that it has little meaning or application for us christians today. Christ then gave a new system for justification based solely on faith - not on good works or empty works of 'righteousness'. Which is why we are so blessed to be living in these times of grace. So yes you're right on, we "wouldnt be judge based on the law" but instead justified based on our faith in Christ. |
Miracle, lemme say first off that I love your tone and attitude, keep it up! You spoke about submission to church/christian authority - a lost doctrine today because of the degenerate state of too many churches. I think you already have your answer: Miracle85:From all that you've said, it appears the leadership is unwilling to let go of their extra-biblical traditions - traditions which could run contrary to what we're taught in Galatians to avoid becoming "again entangled in the law" by following rules and laws that are supposed to be indicative of "holiness". I would say you should leave the church because their belief system is in disagreement with your personal convictions which you've been able to back up with scripture. In addition I would be wary of remaining with a church that imposes these kinds of rules on its members, because if they are willing to put on these kinds of extra weights, it would not stop there, they would soon institute other kinds of extra-biblical rules and regulations, burdening the members away from the freedom we have in Christ. All in all just let the Holy Spirit guide you in all things - it is not a mistake your heart and spirit has not been at rest in this church. Godbless! |
Truly innovative . . . but borderline freaky. Don't they have bottom compartments in their fridges for the round one? ![]() |
Venus had a close shave last night . . . I know she's been shaky in earlier rounds in previous slams but hope her knee doesn't do her in. I'd rather have her win than Serena ![]()
Provided Nadal is as fit as he claims, i dont see anyone stopping him. . . ![]() |
bawomolo:lol . . . I have one comment: no comment ![]() The Vikes did well last night. Even Da-Bratt looked like he's still got the zip to his arm. Having a guy like Adrian is a luxury for Favre. . . I hope he keeps that in mind when he's tempted to go rogue - he is still the king of INTs. |
Hi Kunle, I'm not a pastor but I'll try. Here is the NLT version of that scripture (Gal 2:16) which is written in modern english and is more like a paraphrase of the KJV:"Yet we know that a person is made right with God by faith in Jesus Christ, not by obeying the law. And we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we might be made right with God because of our faith in Christ, not because we have obeyed the law. For no one will ever be made right with God by obeying the law. Hope that helps. |
bawomolo:It is the diva drama-queen at the helm of the Bears offense that will be your undoing hehe . . .Urlacher: pussycat without the cat . . . lol |
For purely sentimental reasons I'm rooting heavily for Andy Roddick . . . he was fantastic at wimbledon and is deserving of a second slam. If Roddick bows out, then its back to my dude FedEx . |
Or perhaps not just built for crunch time. They're a good regular season team, but extra is needed to make it thru the playoffs. Maybe Shaq can give that to them. Rumors are surfacing Yao might play next season afterall. |
"District 9" review: Simply put District 9 is not your typical run-of-the-mill sci-fi alien-invasion flick and in a reversal of the usual roles, humans are the ones calling the shots - and the upwards of a million refugee aliens are pretty much at their mercy. This particular quality sets it apart from the get-go. The movie is more like a drama that doesn't hold back any punches or ironies, doesn't withold the dry witty humor and is crafted and delivered as a lesson in humanity. While I wouldn't take it seriously as a social-commentary, it takes some casual (and I think clever) shots at it. District 9 doesn't exactly introduce anything new about aliens and overall scifi - but it somehow cleverly manages to entertain and charm the viewer into falling for it. The begining is a lil jarring and awkwardly weird . . . I think it takes a while for the viewer to adjust to these strange, unusual and sometimes gory cinematography, but you will slowly get 'used' to it. There are no big name actors so we're not distracted pre-existing role baggage, something I always prefer. But the relatively unknown cast execute their roles effectively. And as for the depiction of Nigerians, the script writers perhaps has some beef with us in the past with the merciless rocket-propelled, nuclear powered shots the movie took at Nigerians - but I think those horrid representations of 'enterprising' humans taking advantage of the defenseless alien refugees were necessary to give the movie the extra shocking edge it needed. If it weren't the Nigerians, it would have been some other country - I think we were just the convenient option as we're world renowned for our hustling ways. It wasn't cool, but I didn't really take offense. Countries are demonized in movies everyday. Overall I enjoyed District 9 and 2 thumbs up to the cast, directors etc It is a fun movie and the end left the door wide open for a second installment, and to that I say bring it on! lol Overall Rating: 8.5 of 10. |
Toney, I would very much love to continue but your girl has to take off in a minute. If you're still intrested I will try to respond properly at some point soon. |
I am doing fine thanks and sorry for replying late, He will surely increase you beyond more than what you can imagine. Mathew 7:7
Amen my brother and He will you. Thanks for this article and it really explained more about this issue. You see most churches/People in Nigeria uses the kJV which clearly states fornication therefore my point of view. But from the article then it is right to divorce a woman based on marital infidelity as it was just a problem of different interpretation from the various versions of the bible. The betrothed woman is already married to the man during these period and can rightly be called a wife to my understanding. At these stage it is clear and known to everyone in the community who her husband is going to be soon be it in a year or two. what will term as engagement or courtship can be substituted to this period because the woman lives alone and she learns everything that it takes to be a wife and a mother. You're welcome jare no problem. Yeah your explanation was very good and it helped me see better where you were coming from. I think so many of the disagreements stem from how we each interpret the verses - and it doesn't help that there are several versions of the bible out there instead of one universally accepted text. The betrothed situation is very intresting and honestly I do see how the "fornication" word in that verse can be applied to fit that situation. I pray the Holy Spirit continues to give us insight into these matters especially when the physical texts that we have limit our understanding to a degree. For example the bible doesn't list physical abuse as justification for a divorce but yet who would argue that a woman suffering under physical harm from her husband who has refused to change should remain in the marriage because the bible didn't specifically give that reason? And you are very right by saying that feat is only possible by the grace of God because most men term such actions from a woman as an irreconcilable difference which is not the case in the other way round ( Pity to women anywayYou're so right. The culture we live in imposes double standards - but we will all be answerable to God on that last day. While I haven't been in such a situation, I would say whatever it takes to fix the marriage - whether live together and work it out or seperate for a time and come back together. And I say this with some difficulty because I know myself lol forgiving someone has never been hard for me, but take him back? wow that would be close to impossible apart from a miraculous strong touch of God on my heart. |

toneyb:Toney, You're right in that some of the events in the OT are shocking and the verse you quoted is pretty darn close to a form of "rape" as she is left no option but to marry her captor. However you can't conclude it is rape in the very gruesome sense of the word. I will give you this though: are these events irreconcilable with the idea of a 'good' God? from a human and secular perspective, I would say yes. Could there possibly be any justifiable reason for God to allow and even order some of these terrible things? yes, but you won't see or accept them as indeed "justifiable reasons". |
No2Atheism:Easy oh, we don't want a cassanova on our hands and be giving Max heart attack with all the women that will be chasing her boy lol |
lol JS. Look at those cute shoes. The movie's hysterical. Look at Eddie Murphy's stage rendition of The Greatest Love of All, and see him shaking his stupid yansh to the awful music. It is Cinderella that doesn't jell for me. She's too good to be true in a plastic kind of way. The prince needs his head examined. No African man will reject that magnificent bride he was presented with!
and then he stomps on the ground after the rendition yelling "Sexual Chocolate! sexual chocolate!!" ROTFLOL . . . that became the signature words that stamped the conclusion of every song we sang in my house growing up. Didn't matter the song . . . praise & worship Jehavah jireh? Sexual Chocolate! Bobby Brown's perogative? Sexual Chocolate! TLC ain't to proud to beg & Baby? Sexual Chocolate! it was only recently I started thinking hey what does "Sexual Chocolate" mean self? ![]() |
