What circumstances do you define as "occasion"
i.e when exacly does the occasion arise?
Like a public news story as with the recent murders of people who allegedly 'defiled' their koran or a hot topic here on NL. Beyond such stories you will not find me on a muslim topic, I have zero intrest in a religion that does not matter to me.

As atheists we are opposed to people spreading false doctrines and delusion as regards religion. . . As humanists more or less we will comment and show you the fallacies of the fairy tale you all profess. . .why? - Because every religionist is a potential fundamentalist and every fundamentalist is a threat to human society.
Besides it's never a good idea to let false and dangerous dogmas like religion to spread without a reasoning voice to point out the wrongs of such,if not you religionists would think everyone agrees with your faith and it's only a matter of time before it becomes forced on everyone.
It's more difficult to fight against faith than it is with knowledge. . . .

It's just like capitalists and communists are more often than not always discussing one another pointing out the flaws and shortcomings of each other. Is that obsession?
Once an atheist here tried to spin it the same way you just did. That atheists on NL spend so much time doing everything in their power to bring down christianity because they care. It is a cheap delusion & I don't buy it for one second.

The more obvious truth is that they are obsessed, plain & simple.

Jason Kidd (9 time all-star)

Dirk Nowitzki (8 time all-star)
Dampier or Gooden
It would even be hard choosing between Dirk and K.G for the 4 spot

Nope. But I'm not constantly in the islam section trying to bash their religion. I speak about it when the occasion arises.

Most atheists here on NL spend all day and all their time on NL here in the religion section 'discussing' christianity. This is beyond mere curiosity but moreso an unhealthy obsession.

Not quite. The loudest voices against the 'pentecostal movement' of churches here on NL are christians, remember that catholic thread with the raped girl? it was all christians critisizing the church, the jets, lavish lifestyles etc christians here make no secret of their disdain and disgust for these rascals called pastors.

But I am yet to see 1 muslim here on NL, or their cleric leaders around the world condemn the actions of their brethren. They simply remain behind their koran throwing out the obviously false assertion that "islam is a religion of peace" when all evidence points to the exact opposite.

One can only conclude from their deafening slience that they either conscoiusly or subconsciously support the violence.

This is religion at one of its lowest, tragic loss of a poor child. Bible-believing and practising christians would disagree 100% with this literalist, have strong enough 'faith only' parents. The bible teaches the exact opposite of what they did.

Paramilitary troops patrolled the streets of a town in eastern Pakistan yesterday after Muslim radicals burned to death eight members of a Christian family, raising fears of violence spreading to other areas. Hundreds of armed supporters of Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, an outlawed Islamic militant group, burned dozens of Christian homes in Gojra over the weekend after allegations that a copy of the Koran had been defiled.

The mob opened fire indiscriminately, threw gas bombs and looted houses as thousands of frightened Christians ran for safety. “They were shouting anti-Christian slogans and attacked our houses,” Rafiq Masih, a resident of the predominantly Christian colony, said. Residents said that police stood aside while the mob went on the rampage. “We kept begging for protection, but police did not take action,” Masih said.

Police and local officials said that at least eight people, including four women and a child, were killed in the fires. Two others died of gunshot wounds. Residents said that the casualties were much higher; one claimed that the number of dead could be in the dozens as many bodies were still buried under the rubble. Shahbaz Bhatti, the Minister for Minorities, said that 40 Christian homes were torched in rioting. He said there was no truth to allegations that a Koran had been defiled, and accused the police of ignoring his appeal to provide protection to Christians.

Tension started mounting last week after Muslims accused three Christian youths of burning a copy of the Koran. They denied the allegations, but clerics called for their death. On Saturday, hundreds of supporters of Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, an outlawed Sunni sectarian group, poured into the town from surrounding districts. The group is believed to have close links with Al Qaeda and has been involved in several terrorist attacks targeting security forces in recent years. Television footage showed armed men running through the streets, gunfire, and women and children wailing. Blackened furniture lay outside burning homes, while a group of people rushed a man suffering from burns on a cart through the streets. Rehman Malik, the Interior Minister, said that the paramilitary troops were sent after police and the local administration failed to control the situation. Security forces were also placed on high alert to prevent violence from spreading to other towns of Punjab.

I was just wondering where all the outrage is from the educated muslims who constantly maintain that islam is a religion of peace.

There's no need to explain anything. Its 'rubbishness' is self-evident to anyone capabale of exercising the slightest of their brain power.
You took one verse from the bible, twisted it and built an entirely false premise on it ignoring all other verses that contradict your assertion = Rubbish.

All you spend your time doing here on NL is attempting and failing to discredit and disparage Christianity. Try as you may, the gates of your hell will not prevail against the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Christianity EtcRe: Jesus Reveals Himself by JeSoul(f): 3:46pm On Aug 03, 2009
Ogaga4Luv:
[s]"I am the root and offspring of David, and the bright and morning star." (Revelation 22:16)

This verse presents the most shocking shocked revelation in the entire Bible. On the very last page, it reveals Jesus as the "bright and morning star". In other words, Lucifer-- Satan!

In Isaiah 14:12, St. Jerome, translated the Hebrew "morning star" into the Latin term "Lucifer" (light bearer), a name commonly ascribed to Satan by Christians, and represents the fallen star, an ancient symbol for the fallen or evil one. The mourning star actually appears as the planet Venus, the brightest "star" in the sky (but the ancients did not know about planets). Venus always appears low on the horizon, thus it looked like a fallen star (fallen angel) to the believers.

Although the Isaiah verse describes the fallen king of Babylon, Christians have, for centuries, ascribed Satan as taking many forms. And what more powerful form could an evil being take than to pretend himself as the saviour of the world? This would certainly explain the hate filled verses attributed to Jesus and the blind followers who inherit ignorance. Thus, a conclusion, based on Christian beliefs of Satan, and the belief in the "inerrancy" of the Bible, one must conclude that Jesus has revealed himself as Satan![/s]

What a Revelationhuh
What rubbish.
Christianity EtcRe: Should Religious Bodies Be Regulated by JeSoul(f): 2:55pm On Aug 03, 2009

@JeSoul
I never stated I wanted the Government to regulate religious bodies, I only asked a question whether government should or if religious bodies should be self-regulated. It's all well saying people should not go to where they are fleeced but remember every society comprises of some ignorant and vulnerable people who don't even know they are been ripped off in the first place. I have only put up a discussion for debate and you are allowed to put forward an argument based on facts and reason
The government cannot even run the most basic of things in the country. They will not now nor ever be put in charge of 'regulating churches', at least not in rational functioning societies.

We can easily put all these "churches" out of business, if people stopped being so gullible. Ignorance and vulnerability is not a good enough excuse to allow yourself to be pimped out of your hard-earned money. Trying to bribe God and your pastor so they will bless you with riches, to me reeks of pure greed. The way I see it the greedy church-goers are just as guilty as the greedy pastors.

There are many good churches out there that that don't build their gospel on money. Infact I don't even remember the last time they spoke about money at my church.

Nija4Life:
I spoke to a friend who lives in Doncaster (In the UK) a week ago and he was telling me about how he was going to leave his church as every Sunday, all the Pastor talks about is money. There is always a ' seed to be sown' ranging from £100 to £1000. This is a stark reminder of how much commercialised some churches have become - seeing the leaders of the churches living in affluent and their flocks wallowing in poverty. This begs the question of whether churches should be regulated by governmen to prevent vulnerable people from been exploited or should they be self-regulating? Your thoughts please
Lol, you want the incompetent, dysfunctional & largely corrput government that rarely succeeds at any project it sets out to do and is for the most part led by even greedier, theiving idiots to run/regulate a private, independent institution like a church?

Nobody is forced to go to church. If they are stealing from you stay at home or go somewhere else that they don't fleece you. It's as simple as that.
