I now know you lack basic and simple english of the fact that there it is saying that Muslims profess to hold the faith of Abraham and that they also profess that together with Christians they adore the one, merciful God, and mankind's judge on the last day. So I suggest you go back to school and ask for your money back. Because you lack the basic skill of understanding english. You may not realise that professing and possessing are different things. Jesus himself let us know that there are those who will profess to be believers in him, but do not actually believe in him or was Jesus lying? are you serious? do i need to start english language class here? do you really need to go back to school to comprehend english? you know what i didn't want to believe it, but now with you and david as evidence, i do believe that the education system in naija has failed. define profess for me, please. infact let me give it to you along with that of possess Profess: to lay claim to, often insincerely; pretend to: He professed extreme regret. 2. to declare openly; announce or affirm; avow or acknowledge: to profess one's satisfaction. 3. to affirm faith in or allegiance to (a religion, God, etc.). Possess: to have as belonging to one; have as property; own: to possess a house and a car. Now they may profess or claim that they are worshippers of the same God, but that does not in anyway mean that truly the allah they claim is actually the one we claim. Get it now. I can easily come to you and profess that I am an accountant, but does that mean that I actually possess an accounting degree? No. So get your heads out of ridiculing the Church because you can't. Time and time again you will make a fool of yourself as you have already done and shown to everyone how little you know of your own belief or the origins of it. for yor information i'm very aware of what Pope John Paull II said. So because he said that I should leave the Church? If we all go by every word that comes out of the mouth of our pastors, I guess we should all have left Christianity then eh. Whatchu think? do not for one minute think that i am you or david, i am not. just because i have a problem in my family does not mean that i will abandon my family. that is what it means to be one as Christ spoke of. you as protestants are very much like the prodigal son, you go out looking for greener pastures trying to deny your identity only to fail and feel unhappy, but are too prideful to return home. so you lead yourself to believe that you are right and you know better than everyone and you have convinced yourself right down into obsession. I will pray for you, that your souls find peace. You know what I will continue to be a Catholic, because I know that we actually teach what Christ taught. That salvation is open to everyone. That we will not pass judgment on others, especially since we do not know what tomorrow holds. Let me ask you this. If a muslim tomorrow converts from islam to christianity, should they be turned away because the plan of salvation does not include them? the plan of salvation includes everyone, everyone can be saved, but it doesn't mean that everyone will be. as long as there's a tomorrow there is a plan of slavation. God's plan does not end. Be careful not to insult God and his mercy, in your quest to bash Catholics.
"Discussing" with you is pointless. You are all emotion and no substance. What have I or anyone said that is "bashing" catholics? a simple quote was stated and asked to be explained, everyone else on this thread and your pope included reads and understands it clearly but you go on an emotional rampage crying persecution and bashing. . . I'm done with you since you cannot seem to partake in honest and genuine discourse. @topic, Please are there any other real catholics around who care to honestly explain this quote? |
davidylan:I think it is the latter. . . how can anyone read that quote and twist it so much to try to say it means something else? unbelieveable. |
Thank God that it said plan of salvation and not salvation itself. I guess that means that unbelievers cannot in anyway reach heaven, if the plan is not for them, I guess they cannot convert to Christianity then eh. Because clearly that's whatplan is. I also thank God that it did not say these actually believe but that they profess. I always thought that in Christianity those who profess the name of Jesus are not actual followers of Jesus. But hey if because they profess it means that they are followers then I guess Jesus lied there. *shakes head at the amount of people in christianity nowadays that cannot understand simple language they calim to understand*
wow lady you are really incapable of facing truth when its right in front of you. You're desperately trying to twist the quote from your catechism to mean something else. . . its ludicrous. To show you your folly here are your precious Pope's words himself affirming what the poster says, and what anyone who understands english gleans from that quote. Addressing Muslim youths, the Pope said: 'We believe in the same God, the one and only God, the living God, the God who creates worlds and brings creatures to their perfection' (What Dialogue Means for Catholics and Muslims, US Conference of Catholic Bishops, http://www.usccb.org/seia/brunett.htm).you don't even know what your own church teaches, you exposed your ignorance here no be small. Furthermore, in Nostra Aetate which is your churches official document on its stance towards other religions it says 3. About the Muslims The Church regards Muslims with esteem: they adore the one God, living and enduring, the all-powerful Creator of heaven and earth who has spoken to people; they strive to obey wholeheartedly His inscrutable decrees, just as Abraham did, to whose faith they happily link their own. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nostra_Aetate |
David you try sef no be small. . . @posters, I know everyone's got their own opinion on who'll be in heaven but lets make sure this thread does not stray from the original question which is why catholics try to convert muslims when their own 'scripture' teaches that both they and muslims serve the same god? I have asked this question in a different manner on previous threads myself but got the usual electric slide around the question. Any bold catholics willing to give a direct and straightforward answer? We should debate and educate each other about the position of the Catholic Church on Muslims. |
You should move this topic to the main religion board where all the catholics are. . . me sef I would love to see the answers to this question. |
huxley:hehe, so in essence you lied way back on that other thread allowing the participants to believe you were married to a christian hence your intrest in it. |
doyin13:I miss him already |
onyinye2: LOL . . . A-40 you cannot allow her to get away with this . . . lol ![]() |
rampant:my sista the guy is not to be trusted. . . he once said he's become a deist calling it the "greatest conversion on NL" https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria?topic=121005.msg2069483#msg2069483 then he said he was looking for a religion to join https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria?topic=121034.msg2071667#msg2071667 ah see as I don become detective for Nairaland ![]() and then soon after he returned to bashing and ridiculing and discrediting christianity. I have seen through the facade of this character, appearing to be "seeking" answers but all he really wants is that good ol' thing called attention ![]() |
rampant:lol . . . yeah I'm not kidding. If anything I have a good memory. It was under one of his other alias' called "therationa" he's also used "tpaine" and one other ID I can't recall now. I just tried to do a search but I couldn't find where exactly he said it (perhaps someone did some "modifications" to his post ) BUT I did come up with a quote where 4Him also known as Davidylan refered to him as married so it cannot be in my imagination hehe I KNOW he said it somewhere that he was married.Therationa, it is not compulsory to be a christian. I am surprised that you are married to one with the level of hate that you keep inside.https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-112751.0.html |
rampant:I can almost swear he said he was married to a christian and that's why he has so much "interest" in christianity. It's too bad he has posted billions of topics, I for do a search and try to find his quote. |
onyinye2:hmm are you sure? it would mean he was telling a fib on a thread a while back . . . |
Missy B:Huxley is married to a christian perhaps that's why he's so obsessively militant about discrediting christianity. |
Tonim:ROTFLOL ![]() DeepZone:Me sef I am waiting for the answer. . . |
LOL . . . I told you guys Artest is not stable. 1-day into the trade and he's already beefing with Yao and calling a long-term contract Check out the convo:http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3512419 Yao: "Hopefully, he's not fighting anymore and going after a guy in the stands," according to the Houston Chronicle. Artest: "I understand what Yao said, but I'm still ghetto. . . That's not going to change. I'm never going to change my culture. Yao has played with a lot of black players, but I don't think he's ever played with a black player that really represents his culture as much as I represent my culture. "We've still got to make sure there's still a commitment [from the Rockets]," Artest said, according to the Bee. "That's the main thing, is to make sure there's still a commitment. When I speak to the powers-that-be of the Houston Rockets' organization, we're going to find out how much they really want me there. We'll find out. I'm still waiting to find out if this is just a trade or if this is like a long-term commitment-type thing. I haven't spoken to anybody yet. I'm still waiting." Apparently repping "your culture" means you keeps it real by being ghetto and taking matters to your fist if the occasion calls for it . If I were Houston I would be thinking 2wice, 3rice about this trade . . . He hasn't played one second in a houston uniform but yet wants a long-term contract? what is this guy smoking? ![]() |
LASIEFAIRE:hehe since he was dismissed from his deputy position, the guy needs something else to pass time withThat should read Brat Favre . . .it is a well deserved modification. How can he retire then come back months later after the team has moved on and say "I've changed my mind"? That's inconsiderate and spolit and if I were part of Packer management I would take the heat but NEVER release him, maybe trade him to the AFC but not a release - they own him for the next couple yrs. |
LASIEFAIRE:Lol. . . Bynum will fare much better than softy, no muscle Gasol. Speaking of muscling around, I imagine all the younsters that Shaq abused when he was dominant can now exact their revenge on his tired slow behind ![]() |
doyin13:ah I see . A move like that can backfire if it doesn't work. . . unless they picked Kwame up for peanut change.NO still have the same problem even with James Posey. Posey is a good defensive player, augment indeed! Posey is def one "scoring option" that gives them a boost. Come sef. . . , You think the Sox will trade Manny?hehe, true talk. They should def wait till the offseason, they have nuthin to loose by exercising some patience. Me, I like Manny, in all his madness and crazyiness and weirdness, his "free-spiritness" inexplicably appeals to me There's no way the Sox can replace his bat right now so they should just kiss and make up. The real drama in the sports world is Brat Favre . . . I hope GB does not succumb to pressure and release him. Ah ah for the past 4yrs he's been dancing the retirement limbo. After all that crying at the press conference on how he'll miss the game, and does not have the desire anymore. And to think I used to like him about 1 month ago . . . . ![]() |
@Jesoul With Posey in the mix NO is obviously an immediate contender.
I know. NO has great potential so go deep next season. Bynum's return also means the Lakers would cause problemsNo doubt Bynum will provide a solid inside presence but he is just one man, the lakers have still not addressed the reason they did not hoist the trophy in june. but you forgot one team the Mavs. . . hehe |
doyin13:Yes he definately provides another scoring option, but the defense I think is more valueable esp out there in the high powered west where many teams don't want to play defense, it can finally help get that 1st rd monkey off their back. Dumars is hit and miss, though its been mostly hit so far. I bet this one will be a hit-misswhich one be hit-miss? ![]() |
pls SeanT that show is not funny at all! I tried watching it a couple of times but instead of laughing I was annoyed at the attempts to be funny. . . huge thumbs down! |
Gonorrhea:erhm what about the fat governors that are marrying 3-6 wives? Shouldn't they be the ones in control of their own households? If a govenor comes into office with several wives, pick one that'll be the first lady instead of allowing the constant bickering and fighting. but I guess I should not be suprised, these useless govs cannot even control thier own houses, much less the state they supposedly running. |
The right wing is going nuts afters Luda's latest stunt. They're all screaming as to how this reflects badly on Obama. In the song he calls Hillary a bitch, and says "McCain don't belong in any chair unless he's paralyzed" etc . . . I think its unfair to say this will reflect badly on Obama but it probably will. Obama has met with & complimented Ludacris in the past and the Reps are reminding everyone of that. I've always seen luda as unintelligent & laughable, and this song lyrics only confirms it. The song is well written, its too bad he has nuthin sensible to say. IMHO Obama if he wants to succeed does not need idiots like Ludacris on his side. Ludacris "Obama's Here" Lyrics I'm back on it like I just signed my record deal Yeah the best is here, the Bentley Coup paint is dripping wet, it got sex appeal Never should have hated, You never should've doubted him With a slot in the president's iPod Obama shouted 'em Said I handle my biz and I'm one of his favorite rappers Well give Luda a special pardon if I'm ever in the slammer Better yet put me in office, make me your vice president Hillary hated on you, so that bitch is irrelevant Jesse talking slick and apologizing for what? If you said it then you meant it how you want it head or gut? And all you other politicians trying to hate on my man, watch us win majority vote in every state on my man You can't stop what's bout to happen, we bout to make history The first black president is destined and it's meant to be The threats ain't fazing us, the nooses or the jokes So get off your ass, black people, it's time to get out and vote! Paint the White House black and I'm sure that's got 'em terrified McCain don't belong in any chair unless he's paralyzed Yeah I said it cause Bush is mentally handicapped Ball up all of his speeches and just throw 'em like candy wrap 'cause what you talking I hear nothing even relevant and you the worst of all 43 presidents Get out and vote or the end'll be near The world is ready for change because Obama is here 'cause Obama is here The world is ready for change because Obama is here, yeah because Obama is here http://www.hiphopmusic.com/2008/07/ludacris_obama_rap_politics_ly.html |
doyin13:Sweetie I'm not all sugar and spice Makes up for the deficiencies in your basketball knowledgedeficiencies? hehe you must have me confused with someone else. . . hmm let me think. . . you! Don't make me have a showdown with you in basketball jeopardy. . . that unsuspecting guy whose butt I kicked-flawless- in tekken 1 or 2 is still suffering self-confidence issues, 10yrs and counting one of the proudest moments of my life I tell you.My own viewpoint on the death penalty is nuanced.I hear you. I remember watching the Timothy McVeigh execution coverage . . .all the lives he took, the little children that never got to experience their childhood, dying in such a horrible manner. . . please I woulda injected him myself. |
mahatma G:Poster, some people are beyond "help". They simply evil and no amount of therapy or rehab will change that. Have you seen or heard some of the heinous, unspeakable crimes that some people have commited? People who savagely rape and kill little girls, serial killers who torture and eat their victims, repeat rapists who've brutalized multiple victims and have shown no remorse for the lives they've destroyed. . . you're saying these people simply need our help and understanding? Tell that to the victims and the families of the victims who are devastated. You would feel differently if it were your sister, or mother or wife that was raped and killed. I support the death penalty 100%. The only reservation I have is that sometimes justice errorneously jails and executes innocent men. landis:I agree with you the best solution is to reform the society, you kill a problem at its roots not the branches. Nevertheless if a branch goes bad it must still be cut off. I don't think the sole purpose of the death penalty is to serve as a deterrent, it is also for punishment. People will always kill, steal and rape - it has been happening since the biblical days and they must be punished according to the chosen and accepted laws of the society. |
@Jesoul Well maybe i will take your word for it but i will sue you if Artest's purchase leads the Rockets past the first round of the Western Conference Playoffs
TMac making it out of the 1st rd? For me seeing is believing. Although I won't kid myself of the fact they've suddenly become a better defensive team with Artest. My money is still on NO to top the west next season. . . they are a solid team. Kwame Brown? That Joe Dumars sef its like he is too used to firing people with such moves his firing could be around the cornerwell so far Dumars has been able to resurrect & legitimize the careers of a couple 2nd, 3rd chance players. . . maybe he can do the same for Kwame's lazy behind. |
olabowale:Again I will ask you so all you're looking forward to in "paradise" is sex sex and more sex? how sad! I am shocked that you are shocked, except that you did not get it, as now explained, above. I remember when my boys were very young. The older one was always eager to kiss his mother and I. But my the time he was 4 or so, he was telling me in particular that daddy, thats not possible anymore. And i am praying that in few years, just by the time he is 30 he can settle down and start a family with a nice nigerian girl. If you become a muslim, I will pay your dowry for him. Regardless of how much it is, InshaAllah. His name is Olayiwola.Dowry ke? alhaji my background is modern, my family does not "sell" or "buy" wives. and I'm sure Olayiwola is a nice guy but I will not be the 3rd, 4th or 5th wife besides already got me a handsome italian - who is a Christian. With Adam, Enoch, Noah, Ibrahim, etc in my Islamic bus, along with Jesus and Muhammad (as), please don't get yourself in a train express to nowhere. Our bus is heading to paradise, all the way. Allah says in the Qur'an,Ibrahim is not a Jew nor a christian, but he is a hanifan, musliman. He did not choose a partner with God.ah Alhaji this is too long now. . . all I'm saying is Jesus is the way the truth and the life! and no one will get to heaven except thru him, kapish. |
samba123:You know if I had more disposable time in a day I would indulge you on this post . Nevertheless as for the part in bold above, forgive me for assuming you understood the concept of sarcasm ![]() |
Kazeem IS JESUS GOD?PLEASE DO NOT LET US BE CONFUSEerhm shouldn't you be hiding along with your fellow islamos in your "special" forum? ![]() You guys wanted your own space now just go quietly and sit there, if a christian went into your forum, made a topic like this, na jihad jiahd fatwa fatwa we for dey hear by now. Abeg make you carry go! ![]() |
reindeer:hehe Alhaji you shot yourself in the foot, see as you just exposed urself. The fact is islam is lost without christianity, or better yet islam is just plain lost. ![]() |
In other Basketball news: Dwyane Wade guaranteed the USA team will win the gold medal at the Olympics. On top of that he has already laid out a plan of the cities he'll do a tour of showing the gold medal when they return. ![]() its these kinds of cocky, arrogant statements that make other countries hate americans. First Lebron now wade, why can't they just shut up and go play? Why is humility a trait that seems to be absent from so many american athletes? infact I hope Pueto rico or someone else spanks them again I hate arrogance. |
Ha this thread has been too quiet. . . ![]() LASIEFAIRE:hehe Artest is inspiring people all around the sports world ![]() Speaking of Ron Artest, the Kings just traded him to the Rockets for Bobby Jackson and Donte Green and future pick. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3510261 Hehe. . . A-40 you may be disappointed but trust me, your Mavs have dogded a bullet Houston "you have a problem" and you will have a problem for at least 1 yr. Where's Onyinye? how do you feel about your latest acquisition down in Houston? In other news, did you guys hear the Pistons picked up Kwame Brown? |
