Kobojunkie:
Please stop already!!! Positivity does not have to start and end with goody-two-shoe wishes please. Even the same Israelites that you seem quick to compare Nigerians with spent time cursing those who enslaved them. Seriously, let us try be honest when we put forth these ridiculous comparisons at least. The same isrealites complained bitterly in slavery before God came to their rescue. If you have not read it yet, many of them had abandoned God by the time moses came in the picture cause they did not understand how such a God could leave them in the hands of the egyptians.  I am not sure God would have come to their rescue if they spent their time smiling and enduring slavery.

Please spend time reading the bible my people. God does not answer only MUSHY prayers. He answers all kinds of prayers and the very fact that the same God allowed his own to go through "HELL" to bring good ought to cue you in to the fact that praying in rose bushes to this God is not going to mean you will have rain and sunshine for answer. JEEEZZZ, carrying this I BETTER PASS YOU attitude even to this extent, you folks have some ego issues here.!!!

PS. Attacking my person,  typical move !!!
Wow  shocked  has Nigeria been so cruel to some people that they cannot simply lighten up and make a simple "wish"?   grin  cool  you are taking this thread waaaay too seriously. This is all the poster intended to say
a little postivity, in spite of your current displeasure with the state of things, wouldn't hurt
Na you sabi if you no fit to see this simple point - you don't hafta agree wit it, but at least understand it. And this is in no way advocating inaction while wishing for things to change, because that seems to be your gripe at the moment.

and ps. who attacked your person?

You live in America and you don't know what it means when someone says make a wish?

Dont just pass through America- let America pass through you. You sure say no be inside one African village you dey?

even a 4 year old knows the meaning of make a wish.

Hi you guys, if anyone lives near waldorf, md and you drive for miles to go to an african store, you no longer have to anymore!

My dad just opened up a food market called Abuja Intl Food Market and we are now open, if you need any fresh meat, fufu, gari, abacha, anything! We have it here. We also sell meat, fish pie, and souya. We also import products from Nigeria. If you need contact details please email me at quenetteo1867@yahoo.com, or you can reply to this thread. Thank you all!
Does your dad have a website? Can customers order over the internet? it would be great for people like me to place orders and have them shipped.

When will Boston open a Nigerian grocery store?  sad  na only ghana and kenya market dey show face . . . with their fake garri and wierd egusi and wanksta yams.

and the oh so classic art of "sarcasm" seems to have been lost on you  undecided   cool  could you not see I was only poking fun at the comment? apparently not.

When africans visit the Americas today they don't fall sick as easily as the foreigners do when they come here.

Sisikill:
@ Topic
Filled out the survey, unfortunately I don't think I gave you much to work with. . . the reality is Naija movies and your subject matter have never crossed paths, well except the pregnancy & fertility ones. The former is depicted as tool women use to trap men and the latter is used to rationalize why a man cheats on his wife. . . not the most socially and morally consciouse message.
LOL grin cheesy
The poverty and physical/spousal abuse I thot was applicable - ritual killings for money, abusive husbands etc . . .

3. Have you ever learnt something from a Nollywood movie that caused you to change your attitudes/behavior about an issue
my answer to this question was a hell-no! smiley Most Nollywood movies annoy me more than anything.

But that was a good suggestion for Tatase to post the questions as topics . . . that might garner more responses.

LOL, na you biko o, hehehe
ah yes oh! I have become an expert at getting the cheese off and leaving the toppings intact smiley. Me I HATE cheese and even the pizza I eat I only get from certain restaurants who use certain kinds of cheese that don't gross me out too much.

Dominos be like say dem dey manufacture cheese for their store. Their pizzas are mountain high and valley thick of cheese, and wasn't it also pizza hut that came out with the "cheesy crust" that was 'drawing' like mucus . . . disgusting!

Thank you for at least responding. I'm a regular NLer in the sense that I'm always here lurking and when I'm in school and homesick, I visit often and read what people have to say. However, this really is my first Nairaland account. I've been meaning to do one but never got round to it. And I'm sorry it took needing fellow Nigerian's help to actually get me to sign up. But please still don't hold it against me. Help me out by doing my survey and I promise to reciprocate/talk to whomever wants to get to know me now, ok?

I had a simpler survey before with 5 yes or no questions and then I was going to watch a large sample of Nollywood movies, but my advisor (damn her) vetoed that and said that my formative research (survey) should be more in depth so I should have a meatier survey. I'm sorry you're finding it a little complicated. I am still going to watch about 50 Nollywood movies in addition, but since my project is about what people think in addition to my own findings, it has to be this way. As far as incentives go, I don't have a big budget but I'm open to providing an incentive. What would you suggest? And how would I go about giving the winner his/her prize? If you have suggestions, I'm definitely open to them.
That's alright I don't need an "incentive" to help out a sista smiley. I just took the survey and it actually wasn't that bad or long. I'll try to send it to a few friends and get them to take it. Goodluck with your project!

you will be tried for Treason! as that is against our national and systematic policy of corruption, dishonesty and depravity. Thank you for your co-operation.

How can one pray for a nation that allows the slaughtering of his/her brothers up north or a country that killed about 3 million of her own in a particular region?
So lemme ask you this question: Who in Nigeria are the victims? and who are the perpetrators? or is every Nigerian quilty on some level?
or if there are millions of innocent citizens, can't they be the ones we're "praying" for peace for?

Whoever finds it fit to wish that Nigeria becomes Dubai overnight without working can go on with the "wishes".
I think you miss the point of Deepzone's intent. It's simply about what you wish to see happen in the country, not necessarily suggesting that we don't hafta get off our behinds and actually do something to make it happen.
Christianity EtcRe: What Do You Know About God by JeSoul(f): 3:38pm On Aug 07, 2008
OlowoTee:
A friend sent this mail to me and I've decided to share it, it's about Who God is:

WHO GOD IS

God is Lord Almighty , Omnipotent King ,
Lion of Judah , Rock of Ages ,
Prince of Peace , King of Kings ,
Lord of Lords , Provider ,
Protector , Paternal Leader ,
Ruling Lord and Reigning King of all the universe.

He is Father , He is Helper , He is Guardian ,
and He is God. He is the First and Last ,
the Beginning and the End. He is the Keeper of
creation and the Creator of all He keeps. He is
the Architect of the universe and the Manager
of all times. He always was, He always is, and
He always will be. Unmoved, unchanged, undefeated,
and never undone. He was bruised and brought healing.

He was pierced and eased pain. He was persecuted
and bought freedom. He was dead and bought life.
He is risen and brings power. He reigns and brings
peace. The world can't understand Him, the armies
can't defeat Him, the schools can't explain Him,
and the leaders can't ignore Him. Herod couldn't
kill Him, the Pharisees couldn't confuse Him,
the people couldn't hold Him. Nero couldn't crush
Him, Hitler couldn't silence Him, the New Age can't
replace Him, and Donahue can't explain Him away.
He is Light, Love, Longevity, and Lord.
He is Goodness, Kindness, Gentleness,
and God. He is Holy, Righteous, Mighty, Powerful,
and Pure. His ways are right, His word is eternal,
. . . .

His will is unchanging, and His mind is on me. He
is my Redeemer, He is my Savior, He is my guide,
and He is my peace. He is my joy, He is my comfort,
He is my Lord, and He rules my life. I serve Him
because His bond is love, His burden is light,
and His goal for me is abundant life. I follow Him
because He is the Wisdom of the Wise, the Power of
the Powerful, the Ancient of Days, the Ruler of Rulers,
the Leader of Leaders, the Overseer of the overcomers,
and the Sovereign Lord of all that was and is and is
to come. And, if that seems impressive, how about this?
His goal is a relationship with ME!
He will never leave me, never forsake me, never mislead
me, never forget me, never overlook me, and never
cancel my appointment in His appointment book. When I
fall, He lifts me up. When I fail, He forgives. When

I am weak, He is strong. When I am lost, He is the way.
When I am afraid, He is my courage. When I stumble,
He steadies me. When I am hurt, He heals me. When I am
broken, He mends me. When I am blind, He leads me. When

I am hungry, He feeds me. When I face trials, He is
with me. When I face persecution, He steels me. When
I face problems, He comforts me. When I face loss, He
provides for me. When I face death, He carries me Home.
He is everything for everybody, everywhere, every time,
and every way. He is God. He is faithful, I am His, and
He is mine. And, here is the reason I feel so secure: God
said it, I believe it, and that settles it. God is in control,
I am on His side, and that means all is well with my soul.

Hallelujah!
wow this is beautiful!

You, in your response assume that the only good response is a wish filled with sloppy kissy feel-good wishes for Nigeria. Are you sure that the millions of Nigerians who have prayed and continued to pray for Nigeria in that way have not done enough of that? Maybe what Nigeria now needs is to be hit with reality in a hard way. Maybe what the country needs at this point is a big jolt of reality to get things right. Wishing for God to do this and that has not done us much in the past.

Come on!! Are you telling me that you only opened this thread to get goody-two-shoe responses? You should state that in your Topic if that is the case.

I am not an AA but most African Americans are Dem. Bill Clinton is famous in the AA comunity and he is a democrat.

Its not about what the DEM has done for the AA comunity. It is what they stand for. Most AA can reason with that.
and they "stand" for welfare, govt. programs, reparations, affirmative action, progressive taxes, bigger govt, "social injustice" etc . .   cheesy
This is great for the AA who doesn't like to work, go to school and get a job.

Truth is while AA's and blacks in general face a lot of challenges in America, most of our problems are our own fault. If an AA wants to make something of himself/herself she can do so with hardwork and determination-90% of the time. But of course most of them would just rather watch BET and continue to blame the "white man" for their problems and demand reparations. lipsrsealed smiley cool

No one can "prove" it because we were not there BUT the story does have some serious pot holes.

1. Ferguson said "It's a virus he's picked up in Nigeria, I believe, and it's not a nice one". . . "I believe" is not a word that portrays certainty.
2. Why are they not releasing the "details" of his illness? they're simply calling it "a virus from Nigeria"

Jesoul ma sis,
seriously why do people run their mouth on christains and yet fear no dey let them near muslim? shocked shocked
my dear its because they know we christians will NOT react with violence, but follow the example of Christ who taught us to love in return for hate, and to pray for those who persecute us.
Whereas islam is fiercely opposed to anything and anyone who dares question muhammed or the quran.

Not even that long ago one muslim in here declared fatwa on Seun if he did not 'control' the 'insults' muslims were getting on Nairaland. Seun then put a ban on us to show "respect" to "the great religion" as he was genuinely scared for his life . . . no be small tin at all.

But I will say though that I've followed some of the convos of some muslims here on Nairaland and some of them are intelligent, peaceful, well-meaning people. It's just that the majority are violent fanatics who have no respect for others lives and property.

That is by pulling down structure, all in the name of constructing either this or that.
