brain54: Polyvalents are used to treat certain species of snake bites...
Not all kinds of snake bites. They is no antivenom for all types of snake bites! Actually they are used to neutralise venoms from most poisonous snakes in our region without having to identify the particular snake type. |

Lukuluku69: Standard? You are correct Sir.
But in this case, I don't think the Hospital erred.
She was bitten by a Snake.
You only administer Anti-venom based on the snake type as we are taught in school. It was after she passed that Snake catchers were sent to her house and the snake killed.
Not a good way to die. May God Almighty comfort her family. The lecturers that taught you obviously didn't teach you about polyvalent anti snake venoms that can be used for all kinds of snakes |

Saladdin: Her death is quite painful. Thoughts and condolences.
No law is stopping them. It's just that anti-venoms are expensive, need proper storage, and the snake has to be accurately identified by the victim for it to be effective.
Nigeria has no effective emergency response, and bear it in mind that some snake venom kills as little as under an hour.
So you see some of the complications involved? There are polyvalent anti snake venoms that can be used for most poisonous snakes in this region. Nigeria is just not serious with her healthcare system! |

Yet some people would want us to avoid killing snakes in the name of conservation! Any animal that poses a threat to human life should never be spared! Kill all snakes wherever you find them.
RIP to the dead |

I strongly believe in the existence of the spirit world!
Those who don't believe should think about the duality of life such as:
*Upward............ Downward *Male....,..... Female *White....... Black *Light......... Darkness *Good......... Bad *Positive...... Negative *Life.............. Death *Human....... Ghost *Sun..............Moon
If after thinking about the following you still haven't fathomed the existence of the human spirit(Ghost), also think about the dream that we dream whereby we interact with strange people and sometimes our dead relatives. All these are pointers to the fact that the spirit world is a reality and that ghosts exist. |

Philosopher1979: i THINK THE PROBLEM IS THAT MOST NIGERIAN WOMEN DO NOT MARRY WHO THEY LOVE. THEY MARRY DUE TO 2 REASONS 1. SOCIETAL PRESSURE 2. FINANCIAL REASONS. I THINK THE ISSUE IS THAT IF YOU TELL A LADY TO MARRY ON TIME THE USUAL THING IS THAT THE MAN SHE IS ATTRACTED TO AND FEELS LIKE HAVING SEX WITH IS NOT FINANCIALL READY. WHEN CLOSE TO 30 OR DUE TO SOCIETAL PRESSURE OR BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE THEY SETTLE FOR MR AVAILABLE AND NOT MR RIGHT THIS MAY BE WHY PATERNITY FRAUD HAPPENS. WHEN THEY GO ABROAD THEY HAVE MORE RIGHTS AS THE LAW AND CULTURE OF THE WESTERN WORLD EMPOWERS THEM AND THEN THEY CAN DO WHAT IS IN THEIR MIND Stop spreading this falsehood! Women's 'love' is never static! That girl that claims to love you today can unlove you tomorrow. Same thing happens in marriages here. These days, you rarely see ladies being forced to marry any man. They choose their men nowadays sometimes without the consent of their families. Yet, it is still now that they now choose their men that marital problems and divorces have become so high! What does that tell you? Of course, that should make any reasonable person understand the fact that women's love is never static. It takes well-raised and disciplined girls to keep their marriages nowadays. |

Samantha125: The age gap is too much, but at least you're not her sugar daddy. It's not too much. That's the age gap for most couples in this part of the world. In fact, our fathers were 20-30years older than their wives yet they had great marriages. Marriage is better when the man is way older because at that age, the men have seen it all and are wiser than their younger selves, so they're ready to make their marriages work. |

pocohantas: You did actually advise people to marry teenagers and said the only people against it are bitter old women. Why didn't you marry one since you think it is right? Why do you encourage what you do not prefer? You never preferred marriage, but now you are so excited to be married that you created a thread. Even simps haven't done this.
Anyway, I knew this day will come and I am happy to witness it. Hopefully your mentees can learn as you update us more. If the law on age of consent had been modified to reduce consent age to 16, I would have reduced my preferences to between 16 and 22yo but it has not been changed. If I wear a lawyer and I'm to handle a case where a man is being prosecuted for marrying a 16yo, I'll definitely discharge and acquit him |
Family › Re: My Marital Journey Has Begun! by Jman06(op): 4:12pm On Jan 29 |
pocohantas: I asked if she is 16yo and you say she is 20. 20 is an adult and of legal age. Why did you decide to get married and to an adult after advising men on Nairaland to do the opposite for years? I never advised anybody to marry 16 years old. My opinion has always been that girls of 16years old can still marry and that age of consent should be reduced to 16yo. I've always said here that I prefer girls in the age range of 18 to 22yo. I would have said 16-22yo but that would mean going against the current law on age of consent. |

Honestly the thing is mind boggling! Despite the astronomical increase in house rent in Enugu, they'll still make you pay huge sums for the so called agent fee and legal fees. It's too much!
Enugu state government really need to act swiftly and put a stop to the activities of those criminals calling themselves 'agents'. |

Samantha125: What if she then decides to claim half of your assets in case things don't workout between the two of you? Because I believe traditional marriage is automatically ruled out as marriage in community of property, meaning she'll still be entitled to claim half of your assets if she wants them... I mean your case might be different from the rest of those Nigerians who got lucky.
And I hope she's a nairalander so that she can starts taking notes... Sharing of properties can only be enforced if the marriage was contracted in the court. Traditional and Christian marriages do not support sharing the man's properties. Meanwhile, my marriage would definitely be successful so there won't be need for dragging properties. |
Family › Re: My Marital Journey Has Begun! by Jman06(op): 6:52am On Jan 28 |
Samantha125: So you haven't considered the idea of maybe getting married OUT of community of property?
Perhaps you might have some assets that you'll like to protect in case things don't work out between the two of you, because with marriage out of community of property, the couples keep their own separate assets and liabilities in cases of a divorce... You don't automatically share everything upon divorce like you'll do if you were married IN community of property. I didn't consider that because in my country, couples hardly share properties upon divorce. Maybe if we are traveling abroad, we could consider a prenup or something like that. For now, it is the traditional cum Christian wedding we are going to do |

Chummynoni: Little piece of advice for you . Marriage is different from dating . For a successful marriage , you and your spouse should adopt the calmness of a dove . Dont ever raise your voice on your spouse to the hearing of next-door neighbor . There is no way you will live with someone without misunderstanding sometimes , even your siblings born of the same parent . So , misunderstanding must come but try as much as possible to reduce it to the barest minimum , don't be too quick to talk , and don't ever pass aggression onto your wife . This is life and storm might hit at a point in your marital journey i.e sickness , loss of job , business , don't because of that see your wife as badluck or maltreat her , instead hold each other's hands and survive the storm together . Don't make your wife jealous , and to you , your wife should be the most beautiful woman on planet . Take care of her . People do believe there is no manual to good marriage, which is a lie . There is actually a manual that if you follow , your marriage will be smooth except you marry a bad spouse . Good luck to you , and I hope you are marrying your friend ? Cheers to a blissful marital journey 🥂 Thanks for the advice... |

The reception was warm and signalled the start of a great relationship between the two families. I'll continue to update you guys as the journey progresses. Op, how old are you? If you keep up with this blame game of yours instead of working hard and smart to change your family's financial situation, I assure you that you'll wake up one day to realise that you're old with nothing to your name and even worse than your dad. Dust yourself up and start working!
Aside the basics, your dad owes you nothing! It is even wrong in my opinion for parents to be so fixated on making wealth for their children because most of the times the children turn out to become only CONSUMERS with nothing to their own names! Imagine living one's life only as a CONSUMER without making impact and creating a good name for oneself!
I'll make wealth for my children but I must ensure that they've got their own lives and their own wealthy before inheriting mine. That's why I like the Adeleke family! Despite his father's wealth, Davido has made a name for himself and lived a life of impact outside what his father has! That's how it should be! |
