A singl chord is easily snapped, bt a braided chord withstands more. The church is waxing strong nd will continue to do so til d end of time. Droppin out now doesnt guarantee u keepin d faith. Pray abt dis, seek sound spiritual counsel, above all, aim @ a deeper rltnshp wit God cos dats wat'll keep u goin evn if'brethren' seem to be deviating.

Salvation is not about getting to heaven. We will only be in heaven for just 7 years. We are coming back to the earth to dwell forever. If all our serving God us just fir 7 year vacation, it is a waste.

Salvation has to do with oneness with God. Man participating in the life in God. If you miss of all that only to get born again at the last minute before death you've really missed a lot. Your purpose on earth unfulfilled. You have no reward in heaven. You can't reign with christ. You can't shine in the world to come. You will only be an ordinary man.

There's no direct answer , it depends on the situation. Became if we say "no" we indirectly sanction lying, and everyone will give good excuses for lying.

Anglican----- the pastor brought his mistress to be living in same hse with his wife. He was later suspended but i lost faith.

Catholic---------rich men are made knights. Men with more than one wives. Known thieving politicians are knighted too.

CE--------too much idolizing of Chris. They even give u target to meet, all in the name of sowing seed.

RCCG---------pastor was paying 120k/mth to rent a hall when we had a building half completed. Abandoned our branch when we ran out of funds.

MFM--------never went there but my folks did. One of their pastors vamoozed with church money.

Cele----went there when i was a kid but even at that age i knew these guys were fraudsters.

I know that there is no perfect church. The more reason why i shouldn't let imperfect people teach me wrong doctrines.
God knows i will always serve him till i die but i will never see any pastor as better and holier than me again.

There's difference between doctrinal error and a man's personal failings. If for example mfm pastor vamoose with church money, it's his personal sin. Does that means it's a doctrine of that church? Does every pastor there vamoose? When the pastor vamoosed is that not a more reason for you to stay ? Since that "bad guy" had gone.

I think you should be more concerned about what the word says that your own laws. If a leader makes a personal mistake ,it should not affect your steadfastness so long as he teaches truth.

So there are proper questions to ask by which we discern. Not because a man drive hummer , or drive plane.  We mostly judge others according to our flesh and that's not the bible way. We are to judge by the Word, the other unseen things such as motives of others is not our place to judge the intention of another man. It is God who sees the heart and he didn't give us that right.

The truth is there are a lot of conmen in Nigerian churches today. I understand that sometimes (not all the time) you mean well when you defend this people, but I would like to step out and change your perspective to see what other users on this forum talk about

I'm not defending anybody, I want us to present facts biblically. Someone once said "any pastor who wears silk suit and tie is not a man of God" and all these trash. Suv, etc. Is that a biblical judgement?

Take our country for example. The level of corruption in our country is becoming overwhelming.

Corruption has been there from bible days. From politicians to soldiers.

That's their business, they may not be Christians, it's still a good dignity somehow, the worldly music is loosing sale. If the world is getting religious, is not a bad place to start.

I don't blame pastors and clergy men. But these guys are supposed to be the conscience of our nation and its leaders.

We can't compare ourselves fully with Israel. They were a nation with Gods law. They had mandate to the word of God. But we are in a nation with diversity . We have the mandate to preach the gospel and intercede. And churches are doing that. One of the things I began to notice is churches teaching their members about nation building and encouraging them into politics. These are good moves. The reachout Nigeria campaign by CEC is to stir up nation building consciousness. Other churches have seminars . Things are going to change . More action governors are emerging,especially those have reverence and listen to men of God. See what's happening in IMO state and others,

Like you rightly said, Jesus was attacked by the Pharisees an Saducees. Do you remember why he was attacked? Whom would you say our pastors more closely resemble, the Pharisees or Jesus? I leave you to ponder.

let's take it that Theres false doctrine in your church, why don't you find a better church? The bible clearly states we must attend fellowship together. If you can't that ,you've already believed a false doctrine against the word of God. It's the devil that tries to isolate a christian from the rest of the body . Theres a purpose in God for you and we need the body of which you're a member. You have a role in the church, others have roles in your life.

Going to church is not a social gathering . It's a spiritual obedience. It goes beyond feelings. And you need the ministry of a pastor. So if the place you are not being fed where you are, ask God to lead you to a church where you can be well fed and grow. He will lead you. But not to stay at home.

Anybody going through this same thing? I mean, there is so much false teachings these days. A pastor tries to switch things in the bible to suit his purpose.Too much idolization of an ordinary man just because he started a church.

How much of the bible do you know to descern false teaching. How do you know a false teaching? It takes knowledge of the Word to discern. Not just personal fleshly feeling. Satan can make people discouraged with flimsy excuses.

I love God and want to serve him in spirit and in truth. I want to read my bible and other christian books by myself at home.

You guys too seem to believe anything evil report against Christianity . Im not defending anybody. I look at facts .Even though there are false ministers, mostly the wrong people have been labelled . I only advocate for fairness in our judgement. We should prove all things beyond doubts . Not these junk journalism and manipulations. We tend to condemn what we don't understand even though we meant well. Those who labelled Jesus as heretic meant well those who killednthe early apostles meant well. The same demons still work through men today. To falsely attack innocent people.

A carnal christian or an unbeliever can be a judge for the church . It takes a spiritual man to discern spiritual things.

The money Jesus received  was put in the bag. I don't think that should be an issue. I may not agree with everything did . They may have their reasons. Some churches drop money at the pastor feet based on the mis interpretation of acts of apostle. We can't blame them.

I only advocate we be objective in these labelling. Do you know the danger of labelling a man of God with blasphemous names? Maybe he is false maybe he is not. We should judge issues by scripture. We can't say a man is false by riding suv!

Falsehood is determined by scripptures , and we should look at scriptures . Also we should hear from the other party why they do what they do . We may be surprised that we probably are the one in the dark. When you get to know the principle by which they operate.

If we hear someone is a prophet the next thing is to label him "false prophet". If we hear there's a miracle they say it is false claim, if the miracle is proven true,they say it must be by black magic! Why? Because they want to sell the idea thst jesus doesnt get glory "he is dead" The first way to determine false hood is in the doctrine, their concept of the lordship of Jesus , salvation. Etc. We should lay the doctrine side by side with the word of God.  

We can't say a man is false because he is different from us.  We can't say a man is robbing the poor, because people give offerings and tithes.

it's not about supporting fireman. I don't know him. We should be smart and objective enough to look at facts. The reporter was paid to do a job. He wrote the script and picked out things to make up his story.

Why should you call the receptionist an actress. Does she not have her own problem? And will God leave her out because she's a receptionist. Why would he paint her that way? Despite the fact that the lady explained she was not herself , which is true for those who have been excorcised.

What we have here is one sided bias prejudice. Are they saying fire man bought those cars from offerings? Does it add up? Why wasnt he asked how he got the cars? Either from the other businesses of his or as a gift.

I know that a healing minister receives lot of gifts from people he ministered to. Imagine if a wealthy man who had been sick of a terminal desease get healed, suppossing such a man shows appreciation in a big way to the man of God? Imagine a wealthy man who suffers fertility distinction haven gone all over the world with no hope for a child of his, now ge gets a miracle and he shows appreciation .

I once met a prophet who had some cars in his compound, he told me the story of the Cars, he said they were many before but he gave them out as seed. According to him he said "AS I RECIEVE , I GIVE ALSO". People only sees what a pastor has, but they don't find out what principle he practice, especially his givings.

The man sees visions accurately and he heals the sick also. He said there was a man he ministered to, and the man got a miracle, he was so excited and carry him (the prophet) to his house, there were several jeeps there ,he told the prophet to choose anyone. He said he fell in love with a hummer jeep there. But by the time the man analysed the maintainsnce of each vehicle he decided to pick Benz ML suv. Because the man told him how much fuel a hummer consume and how much a tyre cost.

Now supposing this Prophet had picked a hummer, people will say he had used offering to buy it. Maybe fire man is real or not. It's not my business , the reporter didn't do avgood objective job. He must have lied to the mn and encouraged him to do things he would use against him. I don't think a pastor will preach only about prosperity. But these reporters will cut off every other thing and picked out money matter. Remember when sheyi Rhodes questioned the members of fireman they all had good testimony . Remember the man who's house was dedicated, sheyi Rhodes stayed back to interrogate the man to make him say something to indict the pastor. "YOU GIVE 10% OF YOUR INCOME TO FIRE MAN " etc . The guy explains himself to and extent and said " THE GREATEST THING IS ABOUT MAKING HEAVEN" that tells you that the pastor teaches salvation. But reporters will cut that out of the preaching.

We should not be deceived about these packaging in the media. If you see a documentary that God is not real ,there's tendency for some people to believe. I like to dwell of facts. And not sentiments and emotions stirred up by packaging . The reporter was biased and didn't give the 2 sides of the story.
