There is a big difference between the blessings in the old testament for believers in the old covenant and the blessings in the new testament for believers no longer under the law.

In those days the blessings were physical, such as in the case of Abraham, Lot etc.

Today however these blessings are spiritual.

Where did you get this theology from?. The blessing of God never changed status. The principles of God are universal.  The blessing is a spiritual thing, it brings physical manifestations. The riches are only manifestations . The blessing itself can make a man rich.

Proverbs 10:22
22 The blessing of the lord, it Maketh rich,  . . .

The blessing of Abraham is a total package . Riches ,health, victory. They are all part of it.

Genesis 28:3-4
3 And God Almighty bless thee, and make thee fruitful, and multiply thee, that thou mayest be a multitude of people;
4 And give thee the blessing of Abraham, to thee, and to thy seed with thee; that thou mayest inherit the land wherein thou art a stranger, which God gave unto Abraham.

That's why Jacob , Joseph prospered . They were custodians of abrahamic blessing. Their women gave birth without complications. Health is part of it. Jesus didn't walk in the new testament. He activated abrahamic blessing.

Luke 13:16
16 And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day?

He healed her on the basis of Abrahamic blessing.

Are you aware the blessing of Abraham is on the christian. 

Galatians 3:14
14 That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

Galatians 3:29
29 And if ye [be] Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.

God gave the entire world to Abraham. A christian owns all things.

Romans 8:32
32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?

To a great Extent one has to be careful on how that is communicated. It is not a "you are a sinner " affair . It should be communicated in the sense of Romans 3:23 all have sinned. We were born in sin.  Through Adam's transgression. It is not your personal wrong doing that made you a sinner. The reason why this is important is that, you sometimes meet someone who claims he doesn't commit sin.he doesn't steal,fight,fornicate etc.  He even believes he is better than some people in churches. They need to see that A man at his best is still a sinner, by birth.

So to get the sinner to realise his sinful state shouldn't be a message of condemnation. The Conviction of sin is the work of the holy spirit . He will convict their hearts.

She didn't retain it. That's what happened. You may receive from God in such an atmosphere of the Word, faith and  the anointing; but it is up to you when you leave that place to resist the devil steadfastly using God's Word rightly. Symptoms may show up, but they are lies of the devil, they are a mirage. The sickness is actually gone. . . . so resist the devil and he will flee!

Staying away from fellowship with the Word and the Spirit or with fellow believers is one sure way to loose your healing. Mind you, satan is out to get the word and the testimony out of your mouth, that it  spread no further.

Great truths here Donie. The fact that someone lost a healing doesn't mean he wasn't healed. As you said here several things could be responsible.

Donnie I remember you called me that morning to join you in prayers. But forgive .I prayed o and I told people arround me. But I forgot to follow up on it. Whaoo! It's really a nightly deliverance. The Propheccy that comes through YOOKOS have been mind blowing. No wonder the devil was fighting with twitter prayer.

In the message anticipating evil. Pastor chris had similar experience with your pastor Bleep. He talked about having a burden for prayer. Which took so many hours. He couldn't place the reason for the burden , but he continued praying until he had note of victory in him.The following day. A bomber that Satan sent blew himself on the staircase. The holy spirit will always show us all things.

I remember 2 years ago when pastor chris sent a message . That we should pray against strange satanic fire and death in family . I dont know if you rememember that allnite .We prayed And one of our brothers On Sunday had thunder strike in their home. While they were in church. 3 people were struk down and the cloth of one caught fire plus the part of the house . But miraculously , passersby came in time to put out the fire , and there was no death. And only minor hurt.

Thesame way he gave us word in 2001 . That world will enjoy 7 year period of prosperity and after the 7 years there would be world wide economy crisis which will take another 7 years to recover. Everything came to pass exactly.

God created us to contribute to life, we give out carbon dioxide to plants and they give us oxygen . We are to live by our giving. A man that doesn't give is merely existing . He is not living yet. The way out of poverty is giving. A man that is so poor to the point of stealing from others have operate the principle to come out of poverty.

When a man begins to give, he activate the grace of receiving in his life.

I have heard it said often. And the poit of emphasis is that everyone ought to be a giver, no matter your level , there is always something you can give. And its true also that a man that doesn't give anything will not have except  they function in the general blessing.There is a general blessing . Rain falls on the good and the bad.

Have you found out the reason for the planes. And how many pastors have planes by the way?  I'm aware of only 2 in Nigeria here. You should judge people motives by the content of there words and defence and not by our assumption.
Many pastors recieve gifts . Those who have been touched give gifts to their pastor.  So the so called big cars are mostly gifts. And for a real pastor. It's just a vehicle. He is not moved by the glamour.

Regarding what I believe in response to your questions:

1)Are you saying it's not right for Christians to prosper? Christians can prosper but Jesus christ did not come for us to 'prosper' in that way. Christ came for us to prosper spiritually. If we prosper materially as well there is no problem - but Jesus did not die on the cross so that we can drive BMWs and fly private jets. The prosperity gospel has only being able to grow rapidly by convincing people that riches/good health are an automatic result of christianity - this is very wrong. Good people can be poor and good people fall sick and die. These pastors are selling false hopes.

The message of prosperity is to make people aware of their rights and inheritance. A christian has been given dominion over poverty , sin, sickness ,and all the works of darkness. Spiritual blessings are manifested physically. What do you understand by spiritual blessings? Is it cloud hovering on a mans head?. There is difference between materialism and prosperity. Materialism is going after things for fleshly reasons . Prosperity is to received Gods blessing and extend it to others. A christian should not be trying to get by in life. Poverty is not of God. Ignorance keep people poor. There is blessing in righteousness.

2) Are you saying it's wrong to give to ministers[/b]It is not wrong to give to ministers. It is silly however to give to ministers who clearly have more than they need (with Jeeps, private jets, jerry curls etc). Why should a driver/messenger/domestic servant give 10% of his salary to the pastor so that the pastor can buy a private jet? GO of RCCG is driven around in a Bentley in London - why ? He does not even live in london but there is a Bentley on standby here! Does this make sense ? Why do Oyedopo/Adeboye/Creflo/Hinn need private jets?

Church money doesn't belong to the pastor. Most pastors this days have their jobs and business. The one that God would not allow to work. May get some allowance . But he is not the owner of church money. He is a steward.

f) Pastors do not fake miracles

I was listening to Oyedepo recently and he managed to use a whole sermon to basically scare people into tithing and giving money. In the process of doing this - he managed to misquote several verses in the bible. He also said something very silly - he said people should not borrow money - why then do the offering envelopes in pentecostal churches have credit card sections ? If my salary is not enough for me to live on (like many Africans) - how do I pay the tithe they keep on demanding ? Steal

You quote him according to context. The western culture is not perfect. But if it has become a law to use credit card by force, nothing is wrong with church adopting it. In Uk if you carry cash for shopping, you will be a suspect , they expect you to use card. It's part of satan's plan of control into the one world government.

The pentecostal churches are at a crossroads - you can only fool people for so long. It is time for someone from within to stand up and say enough is enough.

You have much to learn in my opinion. You should dwell on the Word of God rather than assumptions. Why do you you are right and churches are wrong. We have one common ground . The scriptures , which us our authority.Study it yourself and judge your assumptions by it.

Talking about privacy,i had to reveal few things about myself because of you guys constant harassment on my personality. I was being maliciously misrepresented. I said I am an artist I had to give a link to few of my exhibitions I could find online. The personal testimony I shared didn't reveal personal identity . They were shared to buttressed some facts.

I dont see a reason for this statement of yours. Who's talking about obsession with money.my point is that Jesus was dealing with a law . A principle of sowing and reaping. Either its in cash or kind . It's talking about giving something physical.

The passage is saying treat people like you want to be treated which could involve giving. Why dont the pastors say give money to charity for hospitals, schools etc. Why does the money have to come to them ?

It's a christian duty to help the poor. But that should not take the place of other givings. There are different givings in Gods kingdom. Giving for projects, giving for the poor, giving to God, giving to parents and giving to a man of God. Etc. Each one of them has it's place.

Giving is a good thing but I refuse to give money to a pastor to buy a mercedes benz and fly in a private jezt.It is criminal to do that when people are dying from malaria and lack of drugs.

Giving is not by force but by conviction and revelation.  And giving to your man of God has it's place.

Jesus is not against wealth, he is against the inability to give it. That's what prosperity message is about. How to be a blessing to your world. A man that acquire only to consume it upon his own lust is in the flesh. he will soon lose it.

Jesus is not against wealth but he is against puting trust in riches and he is against  the in ability to give your possession out. That is greed and covetousness. God want us to have so that we can give. A man that doesnt have has nothing to give.

I was going to take my time and reply you but several people have done it very effectively. Just one point the scripture you quoted:

Luke 6:38
38 Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.

This scripture has nothing to do with money. It is the scripture often used by prosperity pastors to con more money out of people. The passage is actually part of a longer passage dealing with Judging others. Preachers often quote verse 38 but they never start from 37 which puts verse 38 into context:

37 “Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. 38 Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”

This is how the prosperity pastors take things out of context for financial gain.

He was dealing with giving , either it's money or material things. He was dealing with a principle.

Acts 20:25
And remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.’

I took over akhozem by January  this year. He is a friend from Edo state. I didnt create it  and I didn't vote for myself.  The issue of privacy is not with nairalanders here  . 1) You say pastors are wealthy because they are christians - and if you give you will receive, so why are there still poor christians - because they dont give enough ?? .

Faith is involved, if a man believes that poverty is humility, he can't have. That's the problem with the erroneous poverty preaching. It is devilish. Prosperity is of God and he wants us to do well. when a man gives he positions himself for receiving . Either it's healing, or financial miracle, when a man doesn't have faith due the unbelief ,God cant help him. That's why people must know their rights and privileges in christ. A man must have faith to recieve. When there's a giving there's a receiving .

Two reason why a real pastor will continually have .
1.  He receives because he gives

 You can't take those two things from a real man of God. They must happen. God rewards them .Many so called rich men of God get those things free. Recently I sent a car the man that pastored me in campus some years ago. He was shocked .but  He touched my life. He was a real man of God. I gave check to my good lecturer also. And I still remember my art teacher in secondary school. He was a really devoted teacher. He is old now, I still check on him in Owo town. Same thing goes for a pastor and any person who is committed to a cause.

2) Ok so you think the wives of Adeboye, Oyedepo, Oyakhilome, Ashimolowo, Dollar, Hinn etc were all called by God ?? Listening to the wives preach - in some cases it is clear they have very little theological knowlegde. You need to be more than the preachers wife or son to be a preacher. Benny Hinn is going through a divorce so is Paula White - if they were 'called', do you think this would be the case ?

In the first place , God has called us all to preach his word. The sign that a man has come out of babyhood is to tale responsibility to preach . 

Hebrews 5:12
12 For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which [be] the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.

Besides if a man is a real leader in a home, his household should embrace the responsibility of ministry.Thats success 

3) Let me get you right - you think it is right for people not to pay bills, taxes, hospital bills etc, instead they should pay tithes ?

If you are a tither , you should not have problem in paying your bills. God first, A man that can't pay his bill has other issues to address, it's like saying , if I pay my child school fees, I can't pay house rent. Like some of the childish posts and threads we see here .

In that case the churches should produce evidence that 10% of the people who pay their tithes have had their bills paid supernaturally.

It is not the church that should produce such evidence but rather the individuals who tithes because they believe in it. I've been a tither from childhood and I have countless of testimony. I just got a contract that is fetching over 10 million. I didn't ask for it. I gave a gift to someone and people saw it at the presidency . They made Order for it. I was too shocked, it's one of the beautiful surprises of a giving heart. And as soon as I get the money it will finish withing days because I have lists of people I plan to help and ofcourse sow some good seed.

If they cannot do this, then it is wicked to keep on milking people this way.

The mistake some of you make is to think that money given in a church belongs to Mr pastor. It's not true. He is the first giver and tither. He is only a custodian . Most pastor have their jobs and businesses except of course if they are not allowed of God to do any other thing so that they can devote themselves fully to ministry.
 The pastoral responsibility is only a privilege. And it's wrong to create impression that money people give to God Is a loss. 

By the Elijah was starving as well so at least he had a reason to ask for food, what exactly do the churches/pastors lack ?

Elijah didn't ask her for food because he was hungry, he gave her opportunity to practice the law of sowing and reaping. God knows how to take care of a man of God. Did God not feed him with roasted meat supernaturally? There is an anointing upon a real minister,  you give to him, it's not because he lack.

 For even in Thessalonica ye sent once and again unto my necessity. 17 Not because I desire a gift: but I desire fruit that may abound to your account. 18 But I have all, and abound: I am full. . . .

5) THEY DO NOT NEED PLANES - for what ? Is is their money they are using to pay for it ? those planes are at least $4 million each to be conservative.

You could have also said JESUS DIDNT NEED A SHIP EITHER ! . A plane is just a vehicle, a church or pastor has no business with it except it's required. And if they feel it's necessary to have one. Let God judge that. If you have missed important meetings due to flight delays, you will consider hire. If buying a plane on the long run will be more economical for this who's calling takes them all over the world. Especially those who travel with a large crew. If they buy one . It's only a vehicle but you see it rather as luxury. A real minister is dead to the beauty and fancy of the world . It's only a vehicle. The mission is more important than the vehicle.

Do you know how many africans die from malaria, thyphoid, lack of drugs in hospitals ? It is wicked to see all that and still think the best way to spend money 'donated' is on planes and expensive cars ? Where is the compassion ?? The church is not a charity home. The church may do charity work, but it's not the primary call of the church. The church primary responsibility is to preach the gospel. A pastor primary responsibility is his congregation and not folks on the streets.There are different callings. If you are concerned about the poor, Do something about them, you don't need to criticise others because you don't know the assignment God gave them.

6) If the tithes are not spent on charitable things, what is it spent on (apart from planes). Is the money kept in a room and never spent ? Is the money burnt ? What do they do with the money ? It is criminal and wicked to milk poor people.

Churches pay rent, pay loans, purchase, sound equipment, generator. Diesel, some rent chairs or hire chairs, electric bills. Staff salaries. Maintainance. Do you know how much it cost to Run a service in some churches? Some large churches use 4 drums of diesel for just a service thats about 200,000 naira. Some churches require up to a million to run a setvice. Church money is not for Mr pastor. Most real pastor put their personal money into the work. They are in it for service and not for gains.

3) How does it make sense for a man struggling to eat (like many Africans) give away ten percent of his meagre income - most africans cannot even afford to send their kids to schools or pay for drugs.

How did it make sense for elijah to ask a widow to give her last meal for him to eat? It is based on a principle. The solution to poverty is GIVING.

4) Why do Nigerian pastors need planes ?

Are they not human beings ? Are planes made for monkeys? By the way how many have planes ?

5) Why does the leader of the anglican church with assets of more than £5 billion earn only £65,000 but pentecostal preachers with much smaller assets earn much more ?

How do you know how much they earn. A real pastor doesn't live by salary. His salary is a seed in his hand. He give by example. People bless him in return . Its a law of sowing and reaping. When you start giving and you see the result , you won't criticise wealth again. Wealth of a christian is to serve God and man.

6) If we accept that tithes are necessary - where are all the free schools and hospitals or other charitable activities ?

Is that from the bible? What has tithe got to do with schools? thithes and offerings are based on eternal principles of faith in God.

God can do anything, He is the Lord, the God of all flesh, and there’s nothing impossible with Him. His power is unlimited. Yet, many short-circuit that power and make it ineffective in their own lives because of doubt and unbelief. Some others try to “help” God by dictating to Him how they want Him to do what they want Him to do.

I’ll explain with this example: Let’s take it that you want the Lord to give you a house, a car or any other thing in the physical realm and you know its monetary value. When you pray, don’t ask Him for the money; rather specifically ask for what you want. You might think, “But I can’t get it without money!” But who told you that? God isn’t limited by your situation or any circumstance. When you tell Him what you want, He’ll give it to you.

Many don’t get their prayers answered because they ask amiss (James 4:3); not knowing the Word of God. To get the right results, you must ask according to God’s Word. Some people will pray, “O God, use so and so to help me…” Such prayer will limit the influence and power of God on your life. Always remember that God is your help, not man. The psalmist said, “I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth” (Psalm 121:1-2).

Of course God will use people to bless and help you but He doesn’t have to do it through a particular person as you have it in your mind. He doesn’t want your attention to be on any man! He can use anybody and anything to fulfill His Word in your life. Many people have God all figured out. They pray but nothing happens, meanwhile they’re responsible for limiting God in their lives. Once they expect things to happen a certain way, all their attention and focus is toward that direction, which mostly is away from God and His Word. Don’t be that way.

Quit looking up to man for help, look to the Lord; for your help is in the Name of the LORD!
