That is the more reason they fit into the frame of the Pharisees and Sadducee.
The bible says ", bear fruits worthy of redemption" so if you have been this long a time in the faith and you reason in the manner you do then something is really wrong big time
Sometimes when I read the posts of some of these clowns, I feel compassion for them. I use to wonder why many didn't believe in christ in his days Despite his good teachings, they called him heretic , despite his good works ,they called him a dupe. I used to be to mad at those Pharisees before, but reading the posts of this mordern day religious guys, I understand the blindness of their hearts. I no dey vex for Pharisees again . What every pharisee in every generation needs is mercy.

Do you know Pastor Chris history ? He has been a a very Serious Christian since  we knew him  at Uniben.
Have you read his books ?Have you listened to him ? Is what he is doing not scriptural ?
Try and hear him, then  you can talk. Very  few pastors teach new birth like Pastor Christ
You're right, most people are content with milk. Thats why They fight truth religiously. But the truth is marching on like wild fire. Satan is mad at it.

LoveKing:
Gosh! did you even know him at Uniben? Liar! He didnt even go to Uniben, he went to AAU.
It's not a lie. Pastor chris held several programmes in Uniben  such as crusades and camp meeting. In the 80s,  Amaechi,a renowned cultist got born again in Uniben after hearing the gospel preached with power .

A christian who has not embraced or understood the message of Paul is a BABY.

Hebrews 5:13
13 For every one that useth milk [is] unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe.

1corinthians 3:1
And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, [even] as unto babes in Christ. 2 I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able [to bear it], neither yet able

What I meant was that the events written in the Gospels didn't take place in the new testament. Even though the books are refered to as New Testament portion of the bible. But the new testament didnt come to effect until after the death of Jesus, so Jesus himself didn't live in the new testament. The holy spirit is the one that reveals the power of the new testament to us.

He couldnt reveal everything to the apostles yet in his life time because they were not yet born again and also haven received the holy spirit.

John 16:12
12 I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.

The revelation of the truth was given to paul personally by Jesus .

Galatians 1:11
But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man. 12 For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught [it], but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.

The new testament for the church began after resurrection.

@ Mabel,
mabell:
for your information Jesus was expensively dressed in His own time too

Joh 19:24 They said therefore among themselves, Let us not rend it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be: that the scripture might be fulfilled, which saith, They parted my raiment among them, and for my vesture they did cast lots. These things therefore the soldiers did.
Some revelations there! I never thought of that. It makes some sense . If Jesus had been poorly dressed according to the teachings of the poverty preachers, would soldiers be struggling for a poor mans clothes? cheesy

I quoted our lord and saviour Jesus christ who is the final authority in heaven and on earth and you are quoting apostle Paul who was merely his servant. I am not suprised as you have demonstrated on a consistent basis that you would rather obey Oyaks than obey the word of God.
Jesus christ of nazareth didn't function in the new testament. If you must grow out of babyhood, listen to paul.

I laugh at some Christians ! many church buildings have been converted to mosques in Uk. Some other church buildings were converted to museum, night clubs etc. And you find children of God who should be engaged in e angelising and christianising the world kicking against church converting a hall for worship.

Christianity EtcRe: Christ Embassy's New Social Website by Joagbaje(m): 4:39pm On Mar 04, 2011
Yookos is not a church thing. It's a social website. For everybody . If we invited friends over to facebook, twitter and hi5. Even though they are not owned by churistians. It's a simple logical thing as a christian to invite friends and family over to YOOKOS. After all , we built facebook ,twitter and the rest by our patronage. How much more a church founded site.

@Kunle/zikky
You are not exactly right, there is potentially a lot of money that could be made on social networking sites. Facebook forinstance has revenues in excess of $800 million per annum. The more members you have the greater your advertizing revenue. So basically CEC is just trying to develop a money spinning website using their church members as a starting point and marketing instruments. When you get to understand CEC well you would realize that everything they do is ultimately about making money for it's promoter.
Would you rather let your money go to sites That are owned by unbelievers because you are against churches having money. I would rather let my money fund sites that are owned by churches than sending money to sites are owned by umbels!.
Christianity EtcPastor Chris Oyakhilome: The Divinity Of Jesus by Joagbaje(op): 12:36pm On Mar 04, 2011
John 14:6-7
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him

“Is Jesus really God?” This is one question many still ask today. They believe He was a great prophet and teacher, but find it difficult to accept that He is Himself God, but He is. The Bible says “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God” (John 1:1). That “Word” that the Bible says “was God” became flesh – Jesus – and dwelt among us: “And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth” (John 1:14).

Now, the prophecy that came forth before the birth of Jesus also foretold His divinity: “Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.” It was Jesus who walked the streets of Galilee, as “Emmanuel – God with us.” When people saw Him, the mighty miracles and great signs and wonders that He did, notice what they said: “God has visited His people” (Luke 7:16). The Bible tells us that the fullness of the Godhead bodily dwells in Jesus. So, when you see Jesus, you wouldn’t need to look out for the Holy Spirit or the Father; He is the complete embodiment of Deity.

When Philip, one of the disciples asked Jesus to show them the Father, Jesus said to him, “…Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father…” (John 14:9). No wonder Colossians 1:19 says “…For it pleased the Father that in him should all fullness dwell.” Jesus is the outward expression of the Godhead. When we get to heaven, we won’t find the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost sitting on different thrones; we’ll only find one seated in the fullness of God on the throne, and His name is Jesus (Revelation 7:17).

So in celebrating Christmas, we’re celebrating the divinity of Jesus; His Lordship and rulership over our lives. He’s the joy of heaven and hope of the earth. He’s the Most High, the King of kings and the Lord of lords, who alone is worthy of all praise, worship and adoration. If you’re born again, happy are you, for “…ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power” (Colossians 2:10). You’re identified with the most awesome and sublime personality that there is.

Prayer
Dear Lord Jesus, I thank you for the awesome privilege of being identified with you. It’s a great honour to know you, serve you, worship you and live for you. I boldly confess today that you’re my Lord and Master, the Monarch of the entire universe. You’re my everything, and the reason for my existence. I thank you for revealing yourself to me and through me today. Amen.

If you have never made Jesus the Lord of your life, I would like to extend this invitation to you today to pray the following prayer from your heart and Jesus will come and make His home in your heart:

"O Lord God, I come to You in the Name of Jesus Christ. Your Word says, ", whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved" (Acts 2.21)
I ask Jesus to come into my heart to be the Lord of my life. I receive eternal life into my spirit and according to Romans 10:9 "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved,"
I declare that I am saved; I am born-again; I am a child of God! I now have Christ dwelling in me, and greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world! (1 John 4:4)
I now walk in the consciousness of my new life in Christ Jesus. Hallelujah!"

CONGRATULATIONS!!
Christianity EtcVocalize Your Faith - Pastor Chris Oyakhilome by Joagbaje(op): 12:20pm On Mar 04, 2011
Mark 11:22-23
And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.

The Master, in Mark 11:23, gave a clear picture of what true faith is. He says whatever you desire will become yours by vocalizing what you believe in His Word. Thus, in the faith-arena, you agree with and say what the Word of God says about you or your situation. Faith isn’t just to believe God’s Word in your heart, faith actually speaks.

Not effectively vocalizing what they believe is the reason many in the Church have their faith defective. In fact to them, it seems the message of faith isn’t real. These ones have long over-stayed in the arena of believing. Believing is not enough, for the Bible says even the devils believe and tremble (James 2:19). To believe in what God has spoken concerning your situation is wonderful, but what gets the job done is when you give voice to your believing.

Jesus showed us a practical example of this when he cursed the fig tree! After He spoke to the tree and said “No man eat fruit of thee hereafter for ever,” the next line says, “And his disciples heard it” (Mark 11:14). The disciples heard Jesus when He spoke but they didn’t observe any change in the tree. But by the next morning, as they passed by the same alley, they immediately noticed that the tree had withered from its roots. Jesus did this to teach us to talk our faith. Learn to vocalize your faith; don’t just stop with believing what the Word says, talk it!

In the area of your health for example, don’t stop with merely believing that by His stripes you’ve been healed; vocalize it. Say, “Thank you Lord, because every fiber of my being and every cell in my body has been vitalized, repaired, energized and overhauled by the Spirit that raised up Jesus Christ from the dead.”

Your life is the offspring of your confessions, not just what you believe in God’s Word. So declare God’s Word concerning your job, health and finances today, and always.

Prayer
I am fully aware that the quality of life that I live is based on the faith-filled words that I utter. I hold fast to the profession of faith without wavering, therefore, I declare that my life, health, family and finances are consistent with your Word in Jesus Name.

Further Study
2 Corinthians 4:13
We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak;

Hebrews 10:23
Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised

This language of yours and Kunle such as "scam" or "cover up". Makes tithing look as though it was faslesy created with an intent Like DaVinci code fictional story . You should remember you're dealing with people convictions in the word of God. I don't believe anyone at any time in history created a tithe idea. We do what we believe in. You should respect that. If you feel it is outdated and you are not convinced by it and so you don't do it, it's ok . Every man with his conviction. What you condemn is working for someone else. I was raised in the understanding from childhood. But beyond that I still study the objections to tithing and I've not seen any convincing evidence other wise . There was never a place where God spoke against tithing. Everyone should be convinced in his own mind.

That is apart from the fact the the type of tithes they practised then as no semblance to the fruadulent one being preached today.

It's an issue of leadership. What kind of husband are you?. If your wife is problematic , the pastor that she revers would be the best person to straighten her up. So the pastor should be your friend and not rival. If he is not aware of your wifes attitude,it's your place to report her . Every pastor to my knowledge cousells women to be more submissive and prayerful even when the husbands is a drunk and wicked wife beater.

But if the man begins to give rules in the house to stop the woman from serving God. She will rather listen to the man of God. Because a husband who takes a stand againstvthe word of God has lost his leadership.

So lets stop supporting Israel blindly when Arab children and people are killed.
God only suspended his dealings with them for a little fragment of time so that the Gentiles can come in, after the last Gentile christian get saved, his attention will be on them again. The election of God is still on natural Jews.

Romans 11:28
28 Concerning the gospel they are enemies for your sake, but concerning the election they are beloved for the sake of the fathers. 29 For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.

The only reason tithing wasn't mentioned was because it wasn't an issue with them, it was part of their lives. and God never spoke against it at any time.

We know the holyghost does the work through us. Have you heard paul say " i gave birth to you in christ Jesus " that even sounds more boastful! . "He that WINNETH SOULS is wise" you should rather start winning souls for God instead of criticising evangelistic work with false humility. Sharing my testimony is not boasting. Next time check your bible well before posting rubbish ! I don't want us to mess up this beautiful thread of Jo .

Christianity EtcRe: Let's Talk About Soul Winning! by Joagbaje(op): 6:54am On Feb 28, 2011
@PASTOR AIO

Pastor AIO:
Step 1:

There are a number of ways one could read this.  I wish Huxley of yore were still here today cos he would love this statement.  Since he isn't here I want to play devil's advocate and step into his shoes for a minute.  Here is an atheists perspective:

So the prospect is quite happy at the outset.  He is unaware of his sin, and he is free of guilt.  This is an unsuitable state of affairs for the proselyter.  So first he has to stimulate demand for his product (to use a marketing term).
There is an expression:  If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
But if it ain't broke then the mechanic is out of work.  So a mechanics prayer must be that things get broke all the time.  so he can chop.
The word prospect means: someone considered for something. E.g. Honour, office or prize . A candidate for something. So I used the word in that sense.

So someone is happy and your first step of action is to destroy his happiness by making him feel guilty and dirty/sinful.  Once he is in that state then you can now offer him the relief from his pain, namely your salvation.

bottomline, you are not actually adding anything of value to his life cos first you take and then your replace what you took with a substitute.
We are still going to discuss the message and it's content on the thread. The gospel means "Good news". So you are not destroying his joy by preaching to him. If you tell a driver that the bridge in broken in front and show him another route, you haven't spoilt his joy, you rather have saved his life and he would be glad . That's what the gospel is. When we preach the gospel we don't need to make people feel bad about themselves . We share the truth of salvation in christ.
Christianity EtcRe: Let's Talk About Soul Winning! by Joagbaje(op): 5:47am On Feb 28, 2011
@PASTOR AIO
There are 4 major step in soul winning .

1. Get the prospect to the point of knowing that he is a sinner, and he needs salvation.
2. Get the prospect to know there is a way of salvation (christ)
3. Explain to him how to recieve the salvation by faith
4. Upon his, readiness to be saved , Help him by leading him in a prayer  of salvation, which is also called , the sinners payer.

I  will like us o get into the details of this later. Lets take it step by step.
Christianity EtcRe: Let's Talk About Soul Winning! by Joagbaje(op): 5:15am On Feb 28, 2011
Pastor AIO:
I think it is important to ascertain what exactly is the gospel that one must preach. Is it the gospel of freedom from financial troubles (that is indeed a gospel for who wouldn't consider info on financial freedom to be good news)?

Or is it good news of the Kingdom of Heaven? A gospel of repentance. I am keen to know what we all as christians understand as the Kingdom of Heaven.
That is why it's a forum. I expect soul winners to share what they preach. If youve been evangelising you share what you preach according to scriptures.

We've been able to establish the fact that soul winning is the responsibility of every christian and also the fact that it's Compulsory for every christian to get involved with personal witnessing. While I still want more posts to support the truths, I want us to respond to the fact that a christian that does not preach to others is actually sinning.
