nothing changed.. nothing official.. just rumors. talking to his mother.. stupid stuff.

Barryseal:
So what changed this between this year and last year when he would have been delighted to honor the call up?
Did we kill his father?

The problem is we too like drama.. we say if a player turns down an invite it's a disgrace to our country.. all these rumors circling around about how these players are not ready, telling us to wait till next year etc say he mama this he mama that, what do you call that?

we had prior engagement with Ebere Eze.. he was in the get to-gether.. he is familiar with us.. That's more than enough. Dude would have been delighted to honor our call since last year sef.

Barryseal:
This was how Berti Vogts invited Toto Tamuz without prior engagement and the boy rubbished the country.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 2:18pm On Nov 03, 2019
haha... approaching Tammy papa and Eze mama no be disgrace?
no be the matter we dey since.. then they will start to talk story say they were never invited like Tomori talk...
If the guy has not been cap-tied and has once honored our call, why ask permission from he mama?

Eartquake1:
England, Nigeria requests for players of DUAL NATIONALITY consent before handing them an open invitation especially when he's playing in a youth team of another country

You don't just assume a player is going to play for you and disgrace yourself by handing him an open invitation
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 1:40pm On Nov 03, 2019
you can because none of the games were official. Did we expect Eze to turn down England's U21 call up? We never called him up for an official game. That's the crux of the matter. If Aribo was invited by England, would he have turned it down?

This is Mikel Agu:
“The aim of every footballer is always to represent his or her country and when I heard of my invitation, I was excited because i have put in a whole lot of hard work and determination to get this call up.

Why did Rohr not seek his permission first?
Eartquake1:
Eze is playing with the England's U21

You can't just name him

According to fifa.com, "13 of the players have foreign roots or are born outside the country"

modified
"The Netherlands also arrive in confident mood after retaining their European title this year. Boasting a squad with a large contingent born outside the country, the Europeans will be hoping that the mix can help them improve on their previous best finish of third in 2005.

Despite not having a particularly good continental championship, Brazil have been preparing well in recent months. That coupled with the arrival of some new faces has the home fans dreaming of a fourth world title in this category."
fifa.com

TheSuperNerd:
Most of them are Dutch. One or two Moroccan-dutch judging by their names and there is one Kenneth Taylor which sound Dutch-American to me.

Maatsen, Unuvar and Taylor are their most exciting players.

many many examples I can give. Was Esiti's consent sought before he had a recall to SE? How about Azeez? I have not read such report anywhere.
Collins nko? I can go on

so na tail of last season u dey focus on... what about when he was very consistent? haha.. u choose what you want to choose, when the total stats show Eze was even more of a regular than Etebo. I'm not pitching both players against each other. But how can u talk as if Eze has done nothing to warrant a call until this season? That is a big fat lie.
charlesemeka85:
And can you make mention of any other cm in our possession then better than etebo?

Etebo wasn't the most gifted but was a mainstay in stokes team last season and one of their best at that. Eze was on and off and was mainly a bench player during the tail end of last season
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 4:45am On Nov 03, 2019
I praise Rohr in his areas of strength.. but when he dey F up, i go talk am as e be.

@ charlesemeka85

This is Oghenekaro Etebo's stats in the same 18/19 season. If you consider this SE player consistent in the championship, then why are u speaking another language about Eze?

SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 4:38am On Nov 03, 2019
when that initial story was reported here, I had my own take on that.. now the second story is quite conflicting. it begs the question, why are we even asking his permission. if we have invited him in the past and he honored it, they we may as well invite him again and see if he would. it solves the entire drama.

charlesemeka85:
And Rohr is a mad man to disclose to the media that the kid was contacted through his mom but he demanded for more time to decide? So you believe a journalist instead words that came out from a coach who's media officer had a conversation with the boys mom? Go rest abeg
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 4:37am On Nov 03, 2019
@ charlesemeka85

below are snapshots of Eze's previous two seasons in the championship. Now let's check the facts. When was Mikel out of SE?
Was Eze not a consistent performer the season before now? Who was deputizing Iwobi in SE at the time? Or would have been the best AM to deputize Iwobi at the time? Rohr was not interested in getting another consistent performing AM even in Mikel's absense. It was not a matter of rushing Eze into the team, but providing a cover in the absense of Mikel.. The thing would have been sealed without criticisms from many long. Now we dey go approach person for permission when don already honor our call in the past. Na so Balogun etc case be that time?
Most of us won't have criticized Rohr if he had called up Eze then. The fact remains that a handful of us here have been clamoring for Eze. And i'm not speeking of the period he auditioned.. make una no dey find something talk when the facts are there.

SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 4:26am On Nov 03, 2019
when did he say so, and who did he tell?
When Rohr was asked according to the so called journalist nothing was said of that nature. so you have chosen the story you want to believe and you are making this argument because of the path you have chosen without facts.

charlesemeka85:
eze have never said he is not interested in playing for Nigeria but only asked for more time to decide so let's allow him to make the decision. the nff and rohr will still keep in contact with him until he decides.

many here wey dey form patriotic if you offer them the opportunity tomorrow to denounce nigeria and move to the Uk,canada or australia they wont think twice before dumping 9ja. make una stop to play saint abeg
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 4:24am On Nov 03, 2019
okay!!!!! the context here is Eze had been called up in the past although not for an official game. DIFFERENT.. you guys make it seem like i'm criticizing for no reason, when in actual sense you are defending Rohr anyhow.

charlesemeka85:
and you think the nff and rohr will just pencil his name down without seeking for his consent first? hmmmmm bros nawaooooo!

even before the likes of balogun, ekong and other were given there first call up to the national team they were first contacted to know if they are interested in playing for us.

if rohr went on to invite him without contacting him first and he refuses to accept the invitation na still here una go label rohr and the nff unprofessional

tell me about the composition jong oranje team. Are they Netherlands-born?
TheSuperNerd:
Netherlands are good. They were just unlucky against Senegal. They whipped USA 4-0 and I think they can make it among the best 4 third placed teams.

Japan is beating Senegal. Not surprised. But again, Japan wants to top the group shaa and get an easy Round of 16 draw.

why we no talk he mama before we invite am for get-together?.. haha

i'm not even for either story. I'm just saying he should have been invited officially, which was never done.

iSlayer:
That story is not an official one. No allow people stress you Joebie.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 2:46am On Nov 03, 2019
don't put words into my mouth. I never said he should have been fast-tracked. I only spoke of the time Mikel was absent and we needed a back up to Iwobi.. no talk another matter.. face the substance of the issue.

charlesemeka85:
He was invited along with other English born kids for the get together. If he was fast tracked to the super eagles immediately you will be among those who will shout and scream to high heavens on how he is yet to do anything in the championship but got an invite to play for the National team.

At this moment the English FA are desperate to keep this kids because iwobi and zaha's case was an eye opener to them
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 12:10am On Nov 03, 2019
No, I did not know that Tomori made an AGREEMENT with Rohr. But we are talking about Eze now who came to the get-together. Please can you tell me was he invited then, or he just walked in uninvited? i'm asking because I dont know the answer.

charlesemeka85:
Oga currently the English FA re doing all they can to keep this kids. Iwobi's case made them sit up.

Do you know that the nff n tomori had an agreement that he will switch allegiance to us after the u21 euro championship and secures his club future with Chelsea when he thought he will never hv a chance in the London side with the likes of burnley and Everton wanting him to join on loan?
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 12:03am On Nov 03, 2019
When you make an official invite to a player and the player turns it down, it takes off the responsibility from you. It now rests on the player to make his own move in future. I'm saying this especially as regards to players who have already shown us clear signs that they want to play for us.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 12:00am On Nov 03, 2019
if it's true that there is pressure from them, the English FA talk to he mama abi?
charlesemeka85:
I believe there is alot of pressure by the English FA on the kid currently and his minders will advise him to go with the best option for now which will likely earn him a move to the epl in January or next summer transfer.

He needs to think about his future thoroughly before deciding and it's a good thing he is yet to shut the door on us.

It seem the English FA have an aggressive means of wooing this kids of late and this is in conjunction with their clubs management. It hurts and disappointing he pleaded for more time but alot have to be into consideration regarding his case.

He is a breakout star in the championship in the ongoing season with alot of epl clubs interested so I think his utmost desire now is doing anything that will aid him make the leap to the epl latest next summer.

According to rohr who disclosed that the kid needs time to decide, also said him n the nff won't throw in the towel yet and will continue to talk to him. Literally this implies their is still hope in getting him
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 11:59pm On Nov 02, 2019
Osasu is a well known journalist but you are not taking the journalists word seriously from this your write up.
he said they spoke to the boy's mom. So that one makes sense to you?
it makes no sense approaching a player who has already shown some interest in you.. this guy carry he two leg come train with our boys.. ah ah wetin sef!!! That level of interest is high to me. it's better for the boy to turn down a call up, than for us to be hearing stories like this.. he mama say etc. kai

jihday:
Rhor was quoted, it is not an assumption Osasu is a well known journalist not a 'them say journalist'. you know after that time he came to our camp in London he's also been part of England U-21 team, so it's normal for us to approach him again if he's still interested in playing for us and that's what we did, and he said make we give am time I'm not sure we've done wrong
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 11:52pm On Nov 02, 2019
there are two reports. You choose what you want to believe.. but my take is this if we are interested in a player who has honored our call once, u don't go about making indirect or direct approaches or asking for permission. you hand him another invite. This time an official one. shekina and the matter will settle whether he is for us or not.. if he no show, he no make statement and he is not injured then the huge writing is on the wall...

@ jihday and all in that camp grin

I'm not making excuses. I have said clearly that if we had invited him and he turned it down, then we can move on. Are there any credible sources we can rely on that says we have made direct approach on him?
how can you say somebody turned you down when that source have not been substantiated? I'm making a point that when there is no facts on ground you don't just run with assumptions. how is that hard for people to swallow?

jihday:
I don't know why you are making excuses for a player who is reluctant to play for us it's irritating to me

you are as good as the average of your performance all season long. Messi has had bad games.. we cannot write him off because of a couple of games. He still remains one of the highest (if not the highest) rated PLAYERS in the championship so far.
We should have invited the lad when it was so so obvious we needed a deputy to Iwobi when Mikel was away. That said, what's wrong with naming the player for the qualifiers. if we do that and he rejects the call then I will support our moving on. I don't see why we are making INDIRECT approaches on a player who has shown he is ours in the past. it's nonsensical to me.
