Lol runner up trophy amounts to nothing. Unless na Olympics. No, they will be remembered for staggering to the finals. Most people feel they didn’t deserve it. Luck ran out TheGoodJoe:
It is better to lose embarrassingly in the final and walk away with the silver medal. The CHAN Super Eagles of 2018 will be remembered for coming second. |

Sure. But there are several brands of good football. But if ur talking about the most beautiful, i’d rather win with a decent brand c than being the most entertaining but without a trophy. Don’t forget the science in football. Pep is proving It again now though. Let’s see if it will last beyond this season. Mujtahida: But I think a good team should can play good football and still win trophies. Pep believes in good football and winning trophies too. |

You will be remembered for playing nonsense. And you would remembered also on a negative note for loosing badly in the final. I’d rather lose in the second round and be remembered for something positive. Mujtahida: Goodjoe let me know your opinion on this.
Recently I read that the Dutch team that lost in the 1974 finals to Germany is remembered more today for their beautiful brand of total football than the Germans who defeated them.
And remember also that the Brazilian squad to Spain 82 WC is described universally as the most complete football squad ever(arguably the greatest collection of individual talents ever to grace a tournament pitch-from a website.) and people still remember their swashbuckling, frenzied, free and pacy beautiful football. In fact Zico described their loss to Italy in the quarter finals as the day football died.
So back to the poser. Let me know what you think. |

I totally agree. I hate tags or classifications that treat people in a condescending way. Some people may not be good at expressing themselves but are full of wisdom and highly intelligent. I’m talking from first hand experience. Mujtahida: The main thrust of my post is that people have crazy, absurd ideas. You cannot legislate on what they should think and what they should say at least we have not set up an authority to do so. However if one feels their ideas are wrong then they should be corrected with respect and sensitivity. That's what was done to congo4ka and that's what you did to pussypounder.
. Don't be too sure you are right. Cos Kog45 who queried that post by icon cannot be said to be a Nacho hater. I also took exception to the line 'that's how we roll here' even though I understood what he meant. I am no Nacho hater
. I guess God was wrong in giving people mouths. And who is the authority to determine who is to talk and write and who is not to talk and write? . Opinions need not be backed up by facts. A man watches a player and states his opinion yet you say unless the opinion is backed by fact he should take the path of silence? I heartily disagree with this. Again it boils down to who has determined what is logical and what is illogical. I say even if an opinion is illogical, then what should be stated is the logical opinion and not to shut down anybody.
And has that stopped forgiveness from being the most vilified moniker on this thread? The fact is not whether people state their opinions backed with facts and figures or whether they do not. Cos if I state my factless opinion I would be attacked. If I state my fact backed opinion I would still be attacked. Heads or tail I still lose. The real issue is that people especially the Pro Nacho people do not want others to state contrary opinions whether backed with facts or not. And I feel that ought not to be so. Some adore him. Others don't. Those who adore him do not adore him based on facts and figures. Their hearts simply clicks with the young man.
And the negative people will call your positivity nonsense or naivety. Tit for tat. How do you like that? I see the world - I see opposites. I too have endeavoured to counter what I perceive as negativity. But then I find intolerance to one man a threat to my own liberty. If a man cannot accommodate John today because John has a factless opinion what me thinks he will accommodate me tomorrow when my opinions and ideas change and become factless. I do not want to go too deep but I trust that anyone who has read George Orwell's 1984 and Animal Farm, anyone who has studied totalitarian regimes from Stalin, Ceaușescu, apartheid in South Africa knows how it goes. Remember how Napoleon first chased out Snowball. Later it was the turn of Squealer who was instrumental in chasing Snowball away.
I do not know if it would work but I look at nature and draw my lessons from her. There's a wide, almost maddening crazy variety in nature and nature works just fine.
This is precisely my point. The ideas and opinions we do not agree with should be countered vigorously but to say such ideas and opinions even those not backed with facts and figures should not be expressed is a no no for me. |

1.Daniel Akpeyi
2 Ezenwa Ike
3.Francis Uzoho
4.Dele Ajiboye
5.Dele Alampasu
6.Okoye Maduka
On Enyeama,Sir just forget him and start having your trust on these six cos he is not coming back.
Pls i want you to watch
Ezenwa vs Angola
Uzoho vs Argentina
Ajiboye vs Sudan
and make a comparison with Enyeama vs Argentina in 2010 WC and let see your analysis may be we can give any of these lads go ahead though we are not Rohr.
Mind you Enyeama remain the best but i don't see him coming back so we just need to decide with what we have for now. |

Football fans have rushed to social media to show their love for Nigeria's 2018 World Cup kit. It comes after Nike released all their kits appearing at this summer's major tournament - including England. With adidas having released their range a while back, the count of 32 countries to have released kits now stands at 20.
But one nation appears to be heads and shoulders above the rest - according to the feedback on Twitter, anyway.
Nigeria's 1994 throwback has got everyone falling in love. Arsenal star Alex Iwobi has been selected as the nation's poster boy following his 73rd-minute strike in qualifying that sealed a World Cup place for the Super Eagles.
Here's how football fans reacted to the kit on Twitter...

That home jersey is not white. It's almost 50-50 white and green. There is so much stuffs about our national identity that needs change.. I know the older generation won't like it.. but let's be realistic. And we don't have to be like other countries unless its significantly a positive thing. Icon4s: If this is true then Pinnick doesn't know what he is doing. None of these shades of green represents our Colour.
Besides, our away colour is typically white while the home colour is green.
You don't just wake up one day and change the home and away colours of a country.
In fact you may change the away colour but not the home colour.
Look at footballing nations all over the world , their home Jerseys are a symbol of their football pedigree. Look at England, Holland, Germany, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Denmark, Portugal, Uruguay, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, France etc. Even in Africa Egypt, Cameroon, Algeria, Morocco, SA, Zambia, CIV, Mali, Ghana, Guinea, Senegal, Gabon etc. Their jerseys are their identity.
Once you see them on the pitch they are easily recognized.
Pinnick should not in the name of fashion deface our football Identity.
Green is our home Jersey and white away. For the away he can chose black if he wants. But the home Jersey must be our national Green Color. |

"Naija" will work for marketing purposes M7even: if it is actually our jersey, then it is fresh for me.
this looks like it would generate much sales especially for Nike...
the naija or Nigeria debate, I hear it has even been an issue at the national assembly on how to address "Nigeria" it was concluded that we are to be called Nigeria and not Naija...but who asked them, na dat one we send dem go do. I know there is huge probability the "Naija" is removed, but however I prefer the naija thing for me. |

The extent u go in CHAN is not a true indicator of the domestic league quality. Let’s get back to the issues at hand and learn some lessons. We can’t take Salisu’s achievement away from him, but that does not mean he deserves future appointments. We have to be true to ourselves. No need for the bashing though. Kog45: Thank you,i just don't know why we always takes things personally especially football, the man Salisu as you said may be technically deficient but that doesn't give us audacity to curse him.
I know if he is a white man trust some Nigerians fans they would make excuse for him,why are we always harsh on our local coaches and even home based players, this thing should stop, let's criticise with a balance minds.
Yes he lost the final by 4 nil but we should know it's final though the team was poor but there are ways we should knock the team not cursing. |

Question is how many of those players still play in the league? Even if we had kept fate with plenty of them people would have still complained. But most likely, we would have seen a better cohesive team. Looking at the bright side, they didn’t do badly considering FIFA rankings. It was a good thing we were lucky to get to the finals. But let’s look at the team for what it truly is. With a better league standard, selection will be an easier process. What we have here is even if we picked the highest goal scorers, there is still no guarantee that they are the best. It sounds stupid but that’s the reality of our league TheGoodJoe: Some interesting comments:
Truly speaking, this group of players cannot be said to be the best in our local league. Even though they were hurriedly selected, I see some nepotic and religious spicing in the list. How many players came from MFN, Ifeanyi Uba, Insurance etc. Last year Nigeria local based were carefully selected to Spain for a tour, I saw some of the great games they played against some Spanish club team, in fact they played quality football. Exactly. Who knows, it could have been worse with Ezenwa. Kog45: My major question is would Ezenwa have saves us against Morocco even with what i saw yesterday Enyeama cannot save us,so i don't see any reason for Ajiboye bashing, the stats showed us his performance and not bad but sometimes not good to concede heavily in a match. |
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 8:24am On Feb 05, 2018 |
Conceding 4 goals in a match irrespective of the manner does not look good for any keeper. Yesterday’s performance dented his perfect stats in SE colors, but we can’t blame him for the loss. Kog45: I think Rohr is watching and as a coach he must know a good keeper even if the keeper concedes 12 goals in a match.
It's simple the goalkeeper stats would be the benchmark.
Ajiboye against Morocco had 26 shots 12 on targets and conceded 4 goals saved 8 in 90 minutes rating 7/10.I believe this should solve the whole issue. |

Lol u are only confusing yourself or maybe I’m confusing you. I’ve never said Ezenwa is better. I’ve always maintained Ajiboye is better. However Ezenwa has always been ahead and still is because of the opportunities he has had and his better stats in SE colors. By my saying they are in the same league does not mean they are equals. Come to think of it, two players can hardly be equals. I don’t see either of them giving us the required cover between the sticks at the World Cup as homebased keepers. And I said earlier Ezenwa is not “far ahead” of Ajiboye in response to that moniker. Ajiboye is also not far ahead. They both have weaknesses and strengths, but from what I’ve seen from both of them, in all, Ajiboye is better. Of course that opinion can change if Ajiboye gets more opportunities with SE (like Ezenwa) and fumbles. Icon4s: You have changed again to "Ajiboye is better". |
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 6:27am On Feb 05, 2018 |
Like I said, the stats will dent Ajiboye's fine ability -- 4 goals in 3 games in open play. Of course stats don't consider many game factors. Ezenwa has had more game time for SE but with less goals conceded in open play (or goals conceded to games played ratio). Ezenwa remains ahead, but Ajiboye is better IMO. Not far better -- better, but in the same league. I'm not talking about rating. Of course we cannot blame him for the loss. TheSuperNerd: NOT GOOD ENOUGH: How Home Eagles Rated Vs Morocco
https://www.completesportsnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Morocco-vs-Nigeria.jpg
Completesportsnigeria.com’s ADEBOYE AMOSU runs the rule over the performance of the Home Eagles in their African Nations Championship final defeat against Morocco…
DELE AJIBOYE 7/10 Conceded four times in the game but still posted an impressive showing. He was let down by his defence for all the goals.
OSAS OKORO 4/10 Failed to live up to his previous heights in the competition as he was badly exposed by the Moroccans.
STEPHEN EZE 4/10 Eze was not at his best in the game and was giv a run around by the Moroccans. It was no doubt his worst showing of the competition.
KALU ORJI 5\10 The stand-in skipper tried in vain to put the defence together especially after Moses Eneji’s dismissal without success. He made a couple of vital blocks but it was not enough to prevent his side from losing.
IKOUWEN UDOH 6/10 A slightly above average performance from the young defender who was Nigeria’s best defender in the game. Played a number of defence splitting passes and defended well too.
EMEKA ATULOMA 4/10 Returned to the starting line-up after missing the semi-final win against Sudan due to injury. The Rivers United player started the game well but fizzled out like most of his teammates and was forced off in the second half due to injury.
RABIU ALI 4/10 A below-par showing which summed up his performance in the competition. He was replaced in the 57th minute by Augustine Oladapo.
DAYO OJO 4/10 Toiled hard to impress in the game with no success. He was outnumbered in midfield by the Moroccans.
EMEKA OGBUBH 4/10 Another player who returned to the starting line-up after missing out against Sudan due to injury. He probably did not shake off the injury enough as never really get into gear in the game.
MOSES ENEJI 4/10 Looked lively in what was his first start of the competition but was dismissed early in the second half for a rash challenge.
GABRIEL OKECHUKWU 5/10 He was completely isolated upfront and did not get the kind of service he would have required.
SUBSTITUTES
ANTHONY OKPOTU 3/10 Came in for Emeka Ogbuh early in the second half and didn’t do anything positive to turn the game around.
AUGUSTINE OLADAPO 4/10 He was surprisingly left on the bench after impressing in the semi-final against Sudan. He could do nothing to change the fortune of his team after his introduction for Rabiu Ali in the 56th minute.
MUSTAPHA IBRAHIM 2/10 Another substitute who did nothing to affect the game.
