realpoacher:
You have been making this statement for so long now it is almost turning into a song. Someone have to call you to order before it becomes a clique.

Your constant ego show boating of Epl & Championship over the Bundesliga is spurious.

The results of both Leagues from the Europa League is there for everyone to compare. When was the last time an Epl team outside the big 6 beat a German club in the Europa?... How well have English clubs performed in the Europa barring Man U who won it last season?

Now compare also how many times Bayern Munich won against the Epl big 6 each time they met in the Champions League.

I bet you don't know

Because if you knew, you wouldn't be here lieing to our face about how apart from Bayern Munich, all other clubs in the Bundesliga are below to both the second half of the Epl and even to the championship teams as well.

You might want to type your next argument with stats while I bring mine.

you are actually very correct.
People with people skills, who know how to leverage their network, can go really far in life.
That's the real world for you. Being street smart which incorporates critical thinking is necessary in applied knowledge.

being a University graduate does not necessarily make one educated, especially in the Nigerian tertiary institution. I had a room mate in 300 level who thought Britain was in America....some would call her educated.

Education means to learn, there are different types of education, one of which is formal education, most Nigerians have been brainwashed to believe that formal education is the only form of education there is, which is not true. You can only become book smart with formal education, but you're going to need more than that to survive in the world.

You keep saying the same thing over and over again. I wonder when you'll get tired of explaining things that have been long understood, but still unconvincing to me.

Let me ask you a simple question. Are you insinuating , the likes of Iorfa, Onuoha, are ahead or at par with Balogun, Ekong etc?

I'd love to see you Dream Super Eagles best XI

komekn:
I am now at total loss as to what you are trying to convey, it is muddled and you are saying everything but saying nothing specifically.

Dud you read my contributionhuh huh huh huh I do not think so.

Players assessment and selection will always reflect club requirements.

You will start of with your base data which are physical attributes, speed, jump rate, strength, stamina, etc

However, for established players those stats are already reflected and established on the field of play. For instance we already know Sane, Dembele, Mbappe have blistering pace.

The other things like decision making, passing range, ball control, goal ratios, skill sets, etc, etc. will be made from game observation. either live and or video footage.

For instance I send only footage clips of individual games not a mix of games into one video because it's easily contrived otherwise.

The next thing which you call subjective but us objective in my opinion. Is CONTEXT. Playing in a lower less competitive and intense league like the Eredivisie means scoring 20 goals can not be on par with scoring 20 goals in the EPL. That's not subjective bot objective.

The Bundesliga is almost a one league team for near two decades has been dominated by one team Bayern Munich. That leaves a big gulf between Bayern and every other team in the Bundesliga.

In the EPL you do not have that gap over the past two decades there have been about 5/6 teams jostling for superiority. That's the competitive outstanding quality of the EPL.

Then consider the Championship we have teams regularly beating EPL teams in the Cup games. In this regard it's informed projection to say that once you take out Bayern Munich the and consider the lower half of the Bundesliga they are not on par with the EPL.

My opinion is that the championship is on par with the lower half if not better than the lower half of the Bundesliga.

I take interest in English football and a perfunctory interest in European football. I did go to Germany, Spain, Belguim, Holland and Portugal to watch matches last year. But it's just now and again.

I don't have to watch every league and if I wanted too I simply do not have the time. To make myself balanced. I watched UEFA Champions league and cup competitions even the youth ones. So I am not singular and parochial in my view.

To give credence to my view I substantiated it with external authoritative reference points. So I am.not like you Self made up and self based analysis.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 10:46am On Jan 11, 2018
I'm very clear about my approach. There is time for everything my friend. If we always go by objectivity, there will be no need to assess players by going to see them first hand -- that's subjectivity. There will be no need for clubs to send scouts to go and witness their targets actually play.. There will be no need to watch videos. Coaches will just sit back and recruit merely based on where the player plays, and if the player gets some game time.

Your form of objectivity is blind. It's one way. You need some balance my friend.

komekn:
You actually base your entire deductions on me, myself and I analysis. The SELF is prone to bias so a collective external substantiation gives credibility to your position.

But your approach is,Self-based, Self -justified. Self- assessed Self -centred, Self - induced and therefore SELF MADE

Why not take a more holistic can I even say an academic and objective approach. As you are going down the emotive route.

My position remains the same.

Can I ask which league had the highest number of teams in the last 16 of the Champions league. And how many Eredivisie teams were in ithuh When was the last time a Eredivisie team got to the quarter finals if the Champions leaguehuh

That should give a bit more objectivity.

The problem is many of you with this notion are just a noisy gong. You complain, without suggestions. True fans always hope for the best for the team.
We can only use what we have, and we will make the best of what we have. And what we have are young players with big dreams and promises. We are still in the building process. When we go past the second round in the WC, this young team will have exceeded the achievements of all our senior teams in the past. And I bet you, some of this players we now call average will make further progress in their careers and start to play for the big clubs. I will wait for some of you to eat your words.

Modified

Komekn 's solution is for us to overhaul the team with Championship players and all players that have been tried and tested in the EPL or Championship at one time in their careers. laughable.

As it stands, I am quite skeptical about our chances in Russia. We cant be heading to the congregation of the best athletes in the world with just 1 in form player (a 20 year old playing for a mid table English club) and expect magic.

Former Man City star questions hunger of young players after Tosin Adarabioyo spends £2.25m on a mansion

Wednesday, January 10, 2018

Young players are getting too much, too soon and the 'hunger' is being taken out of them by Premier League clubs.

That's the view of Paul Dickov, following The Sun's revelation that Manchester City's 20-year-old defender Tosin Adarabioyo has splurged £2.25million on a mansion.

Adarabioyo has never started a league game for City but takes home a weekly wage of £25,000-a-week.

Dickov said: I'm a huge believer of going back to the days when I was an apprentice; you got your grounding, you learnt your discipline, you were cleaning boots and changing rooms and you had to earn the right not just to get in the first team squad but to earn every penny you have got and keep that hunger there. That has slightly gone away from the game.

“You look at the England Under-17s, Under-19s, Under-21s going really well, winning things and everything else, and you want to keep that hunger there and not be given too much, too soon. That is what is happening at the minute and you wonder why they are not progressing.”

Is Josh Onomah facing an identity crisis at Aston Villa?
by Jack Nason 6 days ago Follow @nasonwrites

https://i2-prod.birminghammail.co.uk/incoming/article13935857.ece/ALTERNATES/s615b/JS137039092.jpg

Young players are often sent out on loan to gain experience and develop raw footballing talents. After a successful summer in the England set-up, Josh Onomah came to Aston Villa in order to do just that.
The start of the Championship campaign allowed the Tottenham-loanee to express himself amongst Steve Bruce’s side and he impressed. Subsequently, attention turned to the youngster’s future beyond this season. Since then, his form has been indifferent and his future remains uncertain. Has Onomah spiralled into a confusion over his playing career whilst at Villa?

Bit harsh- the kid’s only 20?
It is a very fair point. Personally, I was quite impressed with Onomah’s performance at the beginning of the season. WhoScored award him an average rating of 6.69 for his Championship appearances. Meanwhile, the player has contributed four goals and an assist during his time at the club. Key goals against Bristol City and Sunderland ensured that Aston Villa saved and won points. At the same time, the player seems to have frustrated certain Villa fans with his performances:

The Villa Villain @UTV31. So we've been linked to a young 21yr old midfielder from @LFC Grujic ? Please Bruce no more kids from other clubs use our own and send Onomah back to @SpursOfficial as he's a bag of nuts you think he's good you must watch a different game to me #avfc

Conversely, there are others who believe that Steve Bruce is not utilising Onomah in the correct way. Whilst the Villa boss has positioned him further forward in the number ten role, others believe he is better suited to a deeper role.

GIGGS SHARMA @GiggsSharma. Onomah is getting a lot of flack at the moment- he Isn't a no10- he is a CDM- he was player of the tournament for England u20 when we won the World Cup and bossed games playing CDM- we should drop whelan and play him in his proper position

The fans are confused? What must be going around the player’s head?
As alluded to above, there is an argument that too much is going through the player’s head. Onomah hit his most consistent form in November, according to WhoScored. At that time, talk began to turn to the future. Would Onomah remain at the club in the long-term?

The player provided the answer himself to the Birmingham Mail, with an article posted on 22nd November. Within the article, the twenty-year-old made his intentions clear: he wanted to help Villa achieve promotion before returning to his parent club. Thereafter, many feel that the player’s form has dipped. A notably poor performance occurred against Leeds United.

As a youngster, it is natural that such games will happen. Ability is not the issue that has led to Onomah’s dip in form, but uncertainty could definitely have contributed.

Meanwhile, supporters of Tottenham Hotspur have also been discussing the player:

*As a disclaimer for the following paragraph, none of the opinions expressed by supporters can be regarded as completely authentic. However, the ideas are definitely worth speculating about.*

A Spurs forum, www.spurscommunity.co.uk, held an intriguing discussion about Onomah yesterday evening. One fan, who claimed very tenuous links to the player, argued that the youngster is unhappy with his advanced position. He also alleges that the player had previously been frustrated by his treatment by Mauricio Pochettino. In addition, there are also suggestions made that Aston Villa have offered him a permanent deal.

Pressure On Young Shoulders
Although an interesting read, the forum is by no means an acceptable source to report. Nonetheless, there are elements of truth in the post upon which speculation could rise. It is true that rather than the number ten role that Onomah has occupied for Villa, he played in a deeper-lying position during the Under-20 World Cup last summer. Therefore, one may understand a sense of frustration if positioning is an issue for Onomah.

Furthermore, the player may be conflicted over the club at which his development can be best carried out. Clearly, the player wishes to return to Spurs after completing his loan stint at B6. However, other players such as Harry Winks have emerged during his absence.

Winks has also occupied the deeper-lying role that fans suspect Onomah prefers. Therefore, the Villa-loanee must be even more desperate to impress before he returns.

This is a situation made even more complicated by the resurgence of Aston Villa’s own Jack Grealish. His recent good form could well halt Onomah’s return to the starting eleven following the loanee’s concussion at Middlesbrough. Compounded by an array of midfield options, the Tottenham youngster may have to be patient to obtain another chance at impressing.

Patience From Player And Fans
Both Onomah and the Villa faithful must be patient. The loanee’s impressive performances at the beginning of the season must be taken into account. As above, the slight lull in consistency following the Birmingham Mail article owes itself to uncertainty rather than a lack of ability.

A lot goes around the mind of a twenty-year-old, whether they are a student or a future star football player. If there is any truth in the Spurs’ forum post, the player must await his time. Let us not kid ourselves either, Onomah will be a very good player in a few years time. Onomah just needs nurturing.

Those who argue that we should be supporting our own youngsters have a decent point, but the season is still long and our depth may be our strength. There’s a lot more to come from Onomah yet!

haha just a few days ago somebody was already predicting we will take a rusty Iwobi to Russia.. haha.. and guess who played just yesterday?

safarigirl:
What is your definition of in form?

I thought the initial argument is whether our players are playing regularly or not, now it is whether they are in form or not.

This is how many months to World Cup? And you have already concluded we are not taking in form players to the tournament, pesin no fit pick form by March and even lose form in May? So, which one is we are not taking in form players to World Cup? Is this the new narrative? undecided

Abeg, make una no dey blindside us with these funny arguments. Na so una talk last year say we go lose to Cameroon because our team does not have the chemistry Cameroon has after playing AFCON together, and what did we say that time? The match is still months away.

This your argument about who is in form for World Cup is quite premature to be honest

Based on what I have seen so far in Championship games this season, it's not what you are always trying to make it seem.
I have the luxury of replaying those games. No one can say something over and over again and think they can brainwash me into believing it. Please stop hyping the Championship.

The next thing you will say is, you go in person to watch these games. But when I ask if you go to watch other games outside England, you switch over to your league ratings argument, and the number of top level players you know that have moved from league C to the Championship.

Sir, I have been impressed with the few games I have seen in the dutch league. Very high level IMO. my friends don't follow the opinions of people who don't actually watch these leagues. I will be taking out more time to watch other leagues this year, and will call out anyone out who just make unreasonable generalizations.

If you want to compare, watch them and compare.

I just hope some of us will say something new this year. Let's see some growth.

MODIFIED
Nevermind the argument. I always knew it was your biased opinion, as you rightly admitted.

komekn:
And there are those who think the Championship is ewah and dodo.

What I have said is the EPL is the most competitive league in the World. The championship is its first cousin and the gulf is there but not as huge as some may think.

For instance the Bundesliga has been dominated by one club for near two decades. The Scottish league by Celtic for almost a decade. La Liga not so much and Seria A as well.

It's in this regard I look at the championship as being on par or superior competitively not necessarily technically to leagues that are ranked below the top 5.

I would say the lower half of the Bundesliga is on oar with the Championship my biased opinion.

£30,000-a-week Arsenal forward Alex Iwobi is caught on video at 3am party hours before his side crashed out of FA Cup in shock defeat

Clip shows 21-year-old Nigerian international dancing and screaming at 2.37am
Next day he started in a pivotal role for Arsenal as they slumped to shock defeat
Sources report laughing gas canisters and smell of cannabis coming from party
No suggestion Iwobi took drugs, but fans slammed his performance as rubbish

Arsenal forward Alex Iwobi has come under fire after a video of him emerged at a supposedly drug-fuelled party the day before the London side's shock FA Cup exit.
The clip shows the 21-year-old Nigerian international, who is on a reported £30,000-a-week at the Emirates, dancing and screaming at 2.37am on Saturday at a flat in Soho.
https://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2018/01/09/00/47DC235500000578-5248557-image-m-42_1515457279845.jpg

And the next day he started in the pivotal number 10 role for the Gunners as they flopped to a 4-2 third round defeat to Championship team Nottingham Forest.
Fans have now called for his head, saying he doesn't deserve to be at the North London club.
Although there is no suggestion Iwobi was taking drugs, tenants in neighbouring flats reported laughing gas canisters and a strong smell of cannabis coming from the party apartment, according to The Sun.

The Snapchat video showed the footballer in the centre of the shot with the caption, 'Shouldn't Iwobi be sleeping?'.

Iwobi's social media habits have been a bugbear for many Arsenal fans, with many slating him for spending too much time on his phone posting pictures and videos of himself at Nando's, his luxurious lifestyle and previously with his ex Clarisse Juliette (pictured) before they split last year
A source told the paper the group had been refused entry to a club, so rented an AirBnB flat in Soho.
The partying kept residents awake for hours, and it is thought the antics went on for at least another hour.
Arsenal fans were furious with Iwobi's performance, describing him as 'rubbish' and saying he would be better suited to Championship level with Nottingham Forest.
And the emergence of the video has done nothing to stem the flow of the criticism.
Supporters were last night calling for Arsene Wenger to suspend the star over his antics.
One fan said on Twitter: 'Arsenal should suspend Alex Iwobi for his actions on Saturday night and Sunday morning, knowing he was a "senior player" on the Sunday against Forest.
'Sheer stupidity and naivety from him.
'Explains his poor performance too.'
Another said: 'Doesn't deserve to start now don't deserve to be at this club.
'We want him sold or contract ripped up and thrown away.'
One fan threw down an ultimatum to the Arsenal attacker, saying: 'Sacrifice now and become something or be forgotten as a nobody. Your choice.'
But not all fans took to social media to slate him.
Many fans stood up for Iwobi with one even suggesting the late night boosted his performance levels.
A fan said: 'Not really bothered he was out, if anything he played a bit better than usual got got an assist.'
A spokesman from the club refused to comment on the matter, but a source told The Sun the Nigerian's late night could have had an impact on his showing in the cup tie.
This time last year, Iwobi was pictured at a Rae Sremmurd gig with model Clarisse Juliette at the O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire.
They split months later having spent three and a half years as a couple, it was claimed.
Juliette was quickly becoming one of the more famous WAGs at Arsenal and posted a picture of the pair on her Instagram account showing Iwobi giving her an adoring gaze.
Her Instagram feed is now almost exclusively pictures of her by herself, mirroring her ex-boyfriend's.

United States Take First Step To Beat Nigeria To Best Defender In MLS
Published: January 08, 2018

United States Take First Step To Beat Nigeria To Best Defender In MLSThe United States Soccer Federation has taken the first step to beat the Nigerian Federation to the international future of the highly-rated Sporting Kansas defender Ike Opara.

Acting United Men’s National Team head coach Dave Sarachan has invited Opara and 29 players for the USA’s annual January Camp scheduled to take place at the National Training Center in Carson, California.

Born in Durham, North Carolina, Opara has represented the United States U20 and U23 national teams in the past but was never invited to the senior team until now.

The national team coaches have looked his way after he won the MLS Defender of the Year with Sporting KC in 2017.

The 28-year-old made USA's roster for the 2009 Fifa U20 World Cup, where he featured in matches against Germany, Cameroon and Korea Republic.

Should Opara make his senior international debut for the Americans against Bosnia and Herzegovina on January 28, he will still be eligible to play for Nigeria until he plays a competitive game for the country of his birth.

The immensely talented center back was named to Major League Soccer's Team of the Season for 2017.

The contract should include that they must play him for a certain period of time, he should be willing to slash his pay, but playing time must be part of his contract.....this is if his brain is functioning well, of course

It’s simple. You are focusing on the games he was rather quiet. And I’m focusing on the ones he was marvelous. Yes he was marvelous against Zambia and Argentina.
And I’m hopeful he brings that again and again. That’s all.

goldfish80:
I don't know what you're trying to prove. Yes he scored a goal against Zambia in his cameo and a very good 45 minutes against Argentina. Between those 2 games, he had a very quiet game against Algeria in Omduman. Before that he was benched in the double headers against Cameroun and was atrociously out of form against South Africa.
He hasn't been that marvelous for the super eagles. I want to make that very clear to you

okay e don do.. you get common sense..
can we move on now?

forgiveness:
That's why I said you lack common sense if you insists with your rigid thought formed by people's perspectives.

Try search if my claims are true but if you're lazy enough you should have asked for proofs and I would have given you on a platter of goal.

sir, I'm a relatively new to this thread. You are an open book but you don't even know it..
okay, i'm done with you.

Modified
I never said you should leave the thread

forgiveness:
Then, what spur your agitation to ask me to leave the thread?

Besides, where did you read I am clamouring for Kayode or talking about Rohr this year?

If I have not rally round the SE, I don't think you will see the likes of Iwobi, Aina, Ebuehi, Brian, Odion, Ogu, Agu and Agbo in the gwg because majority fought hard against me because of these players.

So, your notion or insinuation that I have never supported or rally round for the SE once is tantamount to blackmail.

Sir, I did not read all your fights with Safari..
But if we are still talking about this Kayode issues and your perception of the NFF and Rohr in this year 2018, then I dont know what to say to you. I was just saying that record have been overplayed..
I no even put mouth for your fight with safari.

Can we just rally around the SE for once? That's what this thread is for. As long as we are winning let's support Rohr.

forgiveness:
Then, you should be wise enough to try understand what could cause harm to your neighbor and respect their views rather than taking sides to further add salt to injury.
