that celebration becomes annoying when overplayed.

Mujtahida:
I felt something like shame watching him do that keepy uppy thing.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie:
You made a good point. Consider the ages of the trio -- Enyeama, Ejide and Aiyenugba.
At every point in time there should be a special talent young GK understanding the available senior GKs.

Modified:
understudying* I meant to say

Kog45:
Yes you don't just pick a talented one and forget about emerging ones but sir have you asked yourself why Cameroon always have pool of good keeper to pick from,it's simple they always pay more attention to special ones among their emerging keepers not that they pick one and forget about others,no is not done that way.

In the 80s we have Emma Okala, Best Ogedegbe understudied by Peter Rufai and Patrick Okala, later Peter Rufai,Okoye,Remi Oguns,Lateef Yusuf,Raymond Besr and later we saw the rise of Wilfred Agbonavbare,Alloy Agu,Christian Obi,Willy Okpara,Angus Ikeji,Emeka Amadj,Lemmy Isah,Andrew Aikhomogbe and Aliyu Muzambilu

In the 90s despite not going to 1991 U17 and U20 WC,we have emerging keepers like Murphy Akanji,Dosu Joseph,Victor Gbenebechie,Leye Akinde,Emma Babayaro,Abiodun Baruwa

In 2000s we have Uche Akubuike,Greg Etafia,Sunday Rotimi,Vincent Enyeama, Austin Ejide, Dele Aiyenugba,Ambrose Vanzekin,Apam Bassey,Chiejoke Arugo monkey.

But availability of Enyeama and too much concentration on Ejide(2002-2015)and Aiyenugba(2002-2012) for so long deputising for Enyeama affected the upcoming ones like Akpeyi,Ezenwa, Ajiboye.

Who could have been heir apparatus to Enyeama is Agbim but too mediocre,Keshi did not do well in this regard this gave us a serious gap in our goalkeeping department.

Truly Ikeme came into the rescue but health did not let us enjoyed him but just we made a mistake by keep on inviting Ejide and Aiyenugba when we have emerging Keepers in Akpeyi, Ezenwa and Ajiboye cos Enyeama,Ejide and Aiyenugba came out together at the same time.

Honestly you have a point and thegoodjoe also have a point but whom do we blamed if not Nigeria factor, good Amaju led NFF seems to be working.

Personally, I found the Ademola move the most impressive of all the Nigerians during the transfer window. Stuffs like that don’t usually happen. Many players will improve their careers when they realize football does not revolve around the EPL.

BascoVanVeli:
I agree, I don't think he feels respected by the English in general. IMO he was England's most consistent player at the U20 world cup and whenever he plays for Everton he does great but yet he can get left on the bench for 10 games straight without a word from their media. This is how I think Victor Moses felt right before he decided to go with Nigeria, he wants to show them that they are wrong about him not being top class.

Agu was not on the match-day squad due to accumulation of cards.

So Shehu Abdullahi is now keeping Agu on the bench? Well that's bad.

For once let's have a komekn for another league..

bengine:
He even almost scored from a cross, it was a lovely header but the goalie saved it!!! You need to see the kind of defenders he was playing against, they were all giants...

The bundesliga seem to be so strong defensively, its hard to score against any team. I watch their games on FOX sports and I get bored easily cos almost every team has very good defenders plus the formation they all use don't help matter( those formations tend to be more defensive minded)..

Too be honest I'm all for getting German FB defence( udokhai, akpoguma) for super eagles..there is just this grit about German raised defenders..

I thought this issue has been thoroughly trashed on here and squashed as a myth we choose to believe to sooth our frail ego?

You should know that if given an opportunity, most of these foreign borns will choose their class A European countries ahead of us. There is absolutely no shame accepting that.

What we need to do now is clean our image and build up our reputation to be more appealing and make it easier for players to choose us. I think we're on the right path in that regard

Some of those our players when dey chop better bench will be allowed to go compete. Nigeria has too many players abroad. But well the policy should not be something that will favor only Nigeria

Let’s not also forget some Scandinavian leagues and Asian leagues that run a different calendar somewhat
tbaba1234:
Except it is within Africa. Few European clubs will want to release players in the middle of the season.

I only asked because I didn't watch the Angola game. That's all
Ezenwa is too playful for my liking. But I won't take anything away from him.

TheSuperNerd:
I know where you are going with this.... But I don talk my own... There is a good reason I don't get so deep into GK position discussions on a large scale for now.... Sooooo this discussion is.....
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 12:12am On Feb 01, 2018
And you don't think Ezenwa would have did the same today?
How did his saves against Angola compare to Ajiboye's? I'm talking strenght of opposition etc

TheSuperNerd:
Actually they were.... Ezenwa was marvellous against Angola.

But you see... One point must be made. I have always rated Ajiboye ahead of Ezenwa personally. I just haven't seen the need to engage in the Goalkeepers talk much.

From the 2007 U-17 WC to the 2009 U-20 AYC, Ajiboye has always been in my heart. What Ajiboye showed today in just his first CHAN GAME at such a crucial stage was simply World class and just a reminder of the abilities that I knew he already possessed. That guy has real class between the sticks.

You needed to see how relaxed I was when I remembered that Ajiboye was on the bench when Ezenwa was being treated for his injury. I was just smiling because I knew that if Ajiboye comes in, Sudan no go score again. Looollll Yes! I was that confident because like you said, you just know a good player when you see him. He doesn't need many games. wink

So uhmmm... Consider my meme a joke. I was only telling you Ezenwa's mind as regards your comment... Looolll... Nothing serious to it... Hahahahahahahahaha...

I can't remember what I didn't see.. Today's game is the first I've seen so far in this CHAN tournament. You tell me if Ezenwa's heroics were also classy, since you watched the games.

Wishing Ezenwa quick recovery.

I'll have to wait till the Final to assess Ajiboy before I pass my verdict on him.

Ezenwa should allow his injury heal very well. Give it 4 weeks

Yomiwayne80:
Hope this Ajiboye starts our last match.. Ezenwa should respect himself and not behave like Orji who's not fit but still lied about his fitness to play today.

Ifeanyi ifeanyi is brainless.... With a yellow card you still went for such tackle? Haba!
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 10:58pm On Jan 31, 2018
CHAN eligibility policy should be modified to to allow at most 3 players playing outside the domestic league as long as the players have not featured for country’s main team.

Also players who play in other leagues in Africa should be eligible.

Several saves were top notch. U know a good player when u see one. U don’t need many games.

Ajiboye came to the rescue with a last min top class save and Nigeria are through to the final of CHAN 2018.

U have to understand context. Only performance can vindicate me. And u don’t get to show what u got unless u play. The GK position is the most static. We always heard reports of Ajiboye doing better in camp.

Who agrees with me that Ezenwa would have conceded the goal Ajiboye saved in this match?

ClumsyFlimsy:
undecided You were happy he got injured just because you feel he isn't the better goalie

Ezenwa vs Ajiboye.

Ezenwa has the advantage because he first got the nod and has managed to stay in the team.

However Ajiboye is a better keeper IMO. I was happy when Ezenwa got injured because I’ve always wanted to see Ajiboye more.
