Autos / Re: Corolla LE Vs Corolla Sports 03/06 Model by joecrack(m): 4:54pm On Jun 20, 2020 |
Hello House, please all the experienced guys in the house should help me. I am thinking of going for a Corolla. Though at the moment the Agent brought in a CE, I had wanted an LE but at the moment he said the LE would be coming soon, itst been delayed cuz of the virus. I don't want to wait because I paid the money since February. The CE he showed me looks very clean but then it doesn't come with power window and the seats ain't leather. My question is should I settle for the CE? Would it give me what I'm looking for since I want to use it for Uber? Are CE brands that good? |

Blackking98: At this point you're beginning to sound so funny. So giving power to a man from Akamkpa or Biase is the same as giving power to an Akwaibomite? Seriously? Then all your life spent in Calabar has not thought you anything about that state. Let me tell you, Akamkpa is made up of the Ejaghams which is different from the Efiks same as Biase which have distincts culture, less you forget these two local government have the same disdain for the Efiks because of the same air of pride Efiks carry about in the political lingua of 5 Alive and 2 dead. The two here referring to Akamkpa and Biase. I have seen pure marginalisation from the Efiks towards these 2. I am even more surprised in your interest for Cross River, and this is what most Crossiveriens complain even the Efiks alike, you brag Akwa Ibom is developed than Cross River, yet your people can't live without Cross River, All your big men have houses in Calabar, your people are found in plantations in Akamkpa down to Ikom. The dredge in the society that make up criminal elements in Cross River are all from Akwa Ibom. You people will still come to Calabar to look for jobs in Calabar and will do that criminally by forging certificates from Akpabuyo or Calabar South, so what is this crass fixation and obsession with Cross River, can't you remain in your state and enjoy all your oil money? You know this will have been okay if Akwa Ibom recripocate the numerous good gesture Crossiveriens have given to you, but No!! Crossiveriens are not given even 1% of what you get in Cross River, tell me, if the same scenario of the Chief Judge was to play out in Akwa Ibom, would the person have been confirmed by your State house of assembly? The answer is no, in fact the person may have been killed because the truth is you guys are as wicked as it comes, this is the problem, even your Efik brothers hate you so much because you continually steal their dues in Cross River and at the same time insult them on top of it. 3 Likes |

AmuDimpka: Consult your map keenly. Cross River State is even listed amongst the littoral states in Nigeria. Besides, what will a landlocked state be doing trying to establish a seaport in Bakassi, besides I am aware ships (though smaller) still dock at the Calabar port. |

Blackking98: I meant majority in population in present day Cross River State. Secondly, Akwaibomites cannot dominate Atams, unfortunately the Efiks will suffer for all this because of the language similarities and the fact that they share same affinity with y'all, so it is easy to claim origins from there but that in itself lies a problem because the Atams who actually control the state will at every opportunity deny the Efik man rights because he feels that man might be an Akwaibomite, safe for the real Efiks. Make no mistake, if you think Ayade is returning power to the Efiks then you're dreaming, from what I've heard and the scheming going on, an Efik man won't become the next governor. The present crop of Politicians from the Atam axis are actually Machiavellians, don't worry, you'll see what will unfold. On State creation, Ogoja State will have been but not for the political wranglings amongst their kin, that is a long story I won't want to dive in. 1 Like |

The events that played out between yesterday and today is indeed a shame and one which sadly I dare say I am disappointed that my state, known for it's peaceful and loving people have decided to toe the path of crass nepotism in blocking a woman who although is not a Crossiverien by birth, happens to be married to a Crossiverien, ironically her mother is a Crossiverien and she was born and had lived all her life in Cross River which typically would mean she's "a daughter of the soil". But people who are not Crossiveriens will be shocked that this rivalry will get to this level seeing Cross River and Akwa Ibom use to be one State. As a Crossiverien who was not born nor grew up home, this surprise struck me when I went to school in Calabar during my University days, I was shocked at the staunch hatred between indigenes of both States and for the purpose of clarity I must confess that this enmity is in two folds; hatred by the Efiks in Cross River towards their supposed brothers from the Ibibio and Anang stock in Akwa Ibom, this of course is vice versa and also a strong disdain from Northern and Central Crossiveriens towards Akwaibomites and for the purpose of record is also a mutual feeling. The Efiks are largely easy going folks some may say docile but one thing is sure, they take life very easy and tend towards enjoying themselves and being jolly, in contrast, a typical man from Akwa Ibom is a hustler, very indoustrous, boisterous and domineering. Their adventurous nature has seen them become popular in places like Calabar South LGA, in fact folks from Akwa Ibom make up 60% of population in Calabar South. There is this joke in Calabar that during the days of Donald Duke, he went to visit a village in the Akpabuyo LGA, he asked for the Chief of the community and surprisingly he was told that the Chief went to his Village in Akwa Ibom, how ironic that an "outsider" is royalty in another man's village. These adventurous attitude and of course coupled with land grabbing expeditions by folks from Akwa Ibom brewed wrangling between the Efiks and their brothers from Akwa Ibom. Asides this, because of the the language similarities, most people from Akwa Ibom became mischievous and used that to their advantage by forging local government origins so as to get employment, admission and other gratifications from Cross River, deep down in them, they claim allegiance to Akwa Ibom but will also claim one village in either Calabar South, Odukpani or Akpabuyo when looking for perks. On the one hand you have Central and Northern Cross River, these are ethnicities which are quite different in languages and culture from the Efiks and Akwaibomites, they had been tagged derogatory name as the Atams (whatever that means) by the Efiks and their brothers from Akwa Ibom, they, though being in majority had suffered marginalisation from time immemorial when the both States were one. These people also have a disdain towards Akwaibomites basically as a fight back towards undue entitlement mentality from Akwaibomites of either jobs, admission and benefits that comes with government. Typically, the Atam man hates the Akwa Ibom man just as in the same vain the Akwa Ibom man hates the Atam man. The Atam man which also sees himself as also boisterous and even adventurous in equal measure feels they must do everything it takes to push the Akwa Ibom man out because left to the Efiks, Akwaibomites will overun the whole Calabar and that’s why unfortunately the biggest losers in all of these are the Efiks, because due to the control of political office by folks from the Central and Northern Cross River for over 12 years now, concentration of government perks either by appointment, infrastructure, jobs, admission etc is given to people more from Northern and Central Cross River because the notion is that, that Efik man you want to give an opportunity, how sure are you he’s not from Akwa Ibom? This disdain is further fuelled by the fact that Crossiveriens are hardly given opportunities in Akwa Ibom. In the civil service, admission, contracts even at the level of academics, our children can’t even contest for Class Rep positions not to talk of the SUG, in fact there was an incident of one Prof. Unoh who wanted to be VC of University of Uyo, he was threatened till he was even shot at, sadly his driver died just because his colleagues from Akwa Ibom did not want him to emerge. A twist to this bickering is the lost of oil wells belonging to Cross River by a “smart” Godswill Akpabuyo, right under the nose of Crossiveriens, Godswill in a typical sense man style used the National Boundary Commission to cart away oil wells belonging to Cross River while the then Governor of Cross River State was monkeying away. This singular act further heitened the tension between the two states because Crossiveriens saw it as an act of wickedness from her sister state and supposed child to want to steal her birthright and plunging her into poverty more so when Akwa Ibom has hundreds of oil wells. Today in terms of oil allocation, Akwa Ibom gets the largest in the Country, Cross River is left with none, buy yet you have thousands of Akwaibomites living in Cross River, these people have to also share infrastructure provided by the Cross River State government yet, she was robbed of her wealth by Akwa Ibom. So, these frictions have been going on and the event of the Chief Judge has further highlighted the rivalry between these States, but this is not to say there is no love, I will only say it’s a love-hate relationship because we are stucked with ourselves, there is intermarriage going on amongst us everyday, we interact at level of school and all that but the relationship has reached one where one looks at the other with suspicious eyes. There are those who also believe that the decision not to allow Justice Ikpeme be the substantive Chief Judge is Political. Local Government Elections are just behind the corner, perhaps Gov Ayade does not want to take any chance and feels Ikpeme won’t play ball with him so he decided to push her away to give way for the next most senior Judge who happens to be from his senatorial district. It should be worthy to note that the Speaker of the CRS House of Assembly (who gave a veto vote because voting proceedings to confirm Justice Ikpeme saw the election into a tie because 8 legislators were on the fence, 8 voted YES while another 8 voted NO, the Speaker’s vote voided the application) wife is from Akwa Ibom, infact about 4 members in the House Spouces are from Akwa Ibom. In all, let love always lead and let us have the ability to tolerate ourselves. I’m this regard I doff my hat for the South West, they lead when it comes to tolerance, we all should learn from them. 5 Likes |

Interview went well. First question was to tell them how my expertise was going to benefit the NNPC. I began shooting my shot, enumerating why as a communication expert I will bring my knowledge in the field of PR and public affairs in efficient CSR, media and community relations and to also ensure the public is well informed on the activities of the NNPC, immediately a barrage of questions ensued like dogs just left off a leash. But I was very calm and composed, I understood that part of the grading was checking out your confidence level and emotional stability, as soon as they were done, I knidly told them what I meant and said we needed to do more in making sure majority of Nigerians are aware of the activities of the NNPC through improved media relations. I was asked a question on safety, one on the impact of oil exploration and was also asked to tell them the quickest decision I have taken in my life and how it panned out, this put me off balance for some seconds but I had to come up with something, wasn't difficult though, I'm a screenwriter so I cooked something immediately. Lastly, I was told to ask them a question, I started by commending the whole process as very professional and organised and then asked what efforts does the NNPC take in Staff development? The Chairperson explained to me that for GT level, when you're employed, you undergo some trainings, then you're attached to a coach who'll teach and mentor you so as to ensure you feel in the gaps in task and assignments you'll be given, She also mentioned trainings and studies abroad depending on the field, but she emphasized that enormous work and task is involved though. They thanked me and then said I'll here from them if I am successful. I went downstairs and wrote my name and account number. Should be heading back to my daily hustle and pray for the best. 12 Likes |

Jumoke941: The issue with Nigerians is that in trying to form informed most times they exhibit ignorance. My dear, Abuja has natives that are referred to as "Gbagyi" or "Gwari". And Abuja indigenes have every right to be represented as a " State" in every government policy. They may not have a Governor but they do have a senator, house of rep members and also have Council Chairmen and Councillors in the 6 Area Council that make up the FCT 3 Likes |

Good evening folks, My interview is for tomorrow (7th) and time is 1:30pm, I'm a little curious because most folks narrating their stories arrived the NNPC towers so early. Please my question is, is it compulsory you get to their office very early in the morning regardless of your scheduled time? |

Politics / This Is From Donald Duke: A Former Governor Of Cross River State: by joecrack(m): 6:38pm On Sep 24, 2017 |
When I See Public Office Holders Misbehaving, Probably They Do Not Have a Good Wife or a Good Marriage As governor, I was on call 24/7 sometimes. I got very angry and could take my anger on anyone. So, my chief of protocol bore the brunt one day. I had a reception for guests and he placed them in rooms, not the way I would have done it, but he didn’t do anything wrong. He used his own judgment. I would have done it the other way, but I over reacted. I spoke very harsh to him. While I was doing this, my wife walked in and didn’t say a word. She goes in, does some other things in my office and leaves. When I got back home in the evening, I’d forgotten about it. It’s just a normal event in the day. And she said to me, the way I spoke to this guy was wrong and that I had to go and apologise to him. She said I had no reason to speak to anyone like that. I said, what! He did this and she said, ‘Yes, I heard everything. The way you would have done it was different, but he didn’t do a bad thing. He used his discretion. So, what are you going to do? You have destroyed that. Tomorrow, he is not going to do anything discretionally. He would wait for orders and then you will get irritated at that. You have made him lose his self-confidence and that is wrong. You need to go and apologise to him. Why should you speak to someone like that? Because you are governor?’ I ignored her. I was in my room still fuming and she came back, and said I had to do it that night and not tomorrow because I kept saying I would do it tomorrow. She said no, tonight. That he was not going to sleep well and so I did not have the right to sleep well when he was not sleeping well. I said OK. We got into the car and we drove to his house. I knocked on the door. His wife turned in. They were about to go to bed. She was in her night gown. She saw me and was scared with the expression of, ‘Okay, you have come to fire my husband finally’. The guy came downstairs, petrified. My wife and I walked in. The wife wanted to get up and leave. I told the guy I was sorry. They all got emotional but I got relief. It was like a load had been taken off me. I still get upset with things going up wrong, but I don’t get to a point I feel I am too big to say sorry. You can be referred to as your excellency today, but, the best, it will only last 8 years. Senator?, Minister?, Not forever, permanent sec., Director, CEO?, DG etc?, Life is a stage, a platform For services unto God. So let everyone take heed. Forgive and have regard for Human being. |
