@jogego
like to ask this question" ve you tried tri-booting...windows, n other two linux OS?"
I tried this with windows xp, mandrake n mepis linux bt only one linux n windows xp wz recorgnized by my boot loader dependin on which linux I install last.
any help?
No I havent but I know its possible. As am sure you know, you need to install windows first of all, and tehn linux. And if you want to share files between them, windows has to be in FAT file system. Now to chain loading, did you tell mepis to install GRUB in the MBR(master boot record)? If so, it should work. If it doesnt, visit www.mepislovers.org and do a search in the forum, I know its been treated several times there. ON the other hand, I would check and get back to you. But dont panic, your installations should be there, just a matter of editing your grub list and pointing out where each partition is.
ProgrammingRe: Obtaining and Learning Oracle, Linux and SQL by jogego(m): 11:37pm On Jun 30, 2005
Yes I believe he means sql. To learn about sql, go to www.w3schools.com. Dont know much about oracle. If you wanna learn about linux, best way as I have said countless times b4 is to use a live CDwhihc will run a complete system from the CD BUT most importantly, WILL not affect your hard disk. If you feel comfortable with it, you can do a hard disk install, or even dual boot with windows. Visit www.distrowatch.com for information about all the different varieties of linux distributions or distros in short.

This is a simple game. We just want to know how well we know each other. In this game, we want you to tell us about someone on Nairaland. It might be what you now know about them or your first impression of them. Let us know if you have seen their picture and whether or not you have met them.

Please use a different post for different persons and you may post as many as you like.

What a loadacrap. No offence meant, but the I think someone has been reading too much Mills & Boons or Cosmopolitan. Abeg people, this is real life. Real life does not follow any written scripts last time I checked. Small time, someone will say falling in love is controllable just like you flick on or off a switch.

So in what category would you put love at first sight? And nobody should PLEASE tell me that inot possible because it is. Life throws us curves that we are not prepared for at times. Thats what makes life so much more fulfilling. And please and please throwaway that script. It just doesnt go like that.
FamilyRe: If Your Newlywed Husband is Impotent by jogego(m): 12:58pm On Jun 28, 2005
To add a twist in the tale, consider the following:

Now if the guy is impotent, and you annull the marriage as suggested above, that means technically, you are still a virgin. So when the next rship comes along, are you going to test the waters before you dive in, or wait till wedding night? Since you say you want to reserve it for your husband.

@jogego, I chk out the kanotix , hmmmm not much with the interface, just like knoppix. don't think I like the fish logo too.
Well Niggy, Kanotix is based on Knoppix but trust me, I have used both as hard disk installs and I prefer Kanotix. And Kanotix's support forum is much more active than Knoppix's. Kano the builder of the distro is an active member of the forum. He has given me solutions on several occasions. And what better than to be able to ask the developer for solutions?

As per the interface, its KDE which is very VERY customisable with loads of eye candy. If you looked at my system now, you'd ardly see any reference to kanotix, the desktop, splash screen, icons are all changed. Checo out www.kde-look.org for loads of eye candy. I think Fedora runs Gnome ? I dont like gnome much. I actually love xfce too which I normally just get thru synaptic or apt-get( the beauty and simplicity of package management in debian.)

Anyhow, I run kanotix on my main lappy(IBM tp) and pro mepis on my other laptop(Dell) and for now, Kanotix has gotten rid of my distro hopping.

BTW, suse is i think rpm based. I never took to it. Took over two hours to install and then didnt recognise my wiireless PCMIA or give me screen resolution of 1024 X 768 only 800 X 600. Too much hype as far as am concerened.

@jogego, the fedora core I just downloaded is still at test. I did a test(before installation) on the CD n it told me failed. I ven't really installed it. bt I ve a strong conviction that  it would work. since it wz through the internet(ftp using reget) the error is likely. did you get your distros too by internet n if yes when you tested the CD at boot wz it successful?
Yeah, NIggy, I normally download the .iso's and burn the Cd's.Yeah you are supposed to check the md5 but I hardly bother. As long as u use a good download manager, it should download o.k. I normally just dedicate a system to it for the duration of the dl.

18 years old and thinking of marriage? I seriously think there is much more that an 18 year old should be thinking about other than marriage. At 18, you are just starting life and to lump yourself up with the first person you see? I don't think either of them is making the right choice. Marriage should not be on their minds at this point in time.

*shaking head in pity*

ComputersRe: Linux or Windows Operating System? by jogego(m): 3:47pm On Jun 16, 2005
I did try knoppix hard disk install but you know its not really primed for a hard disk install. I just changed from knoppix to Kanotix about two weeks ago. They are birds of the same feather but kanotix is more on the bleeding edge than knoppix. Never had any dependency problems, thanks to apt- the debian package manager. Its wonderful and always resolves all dependencies and installs straight.

Why does FC4 take so long? Is it a DVD? Thats one reason while I love the debian based distros, it gives u a functioning system and u can add programs that u need. Just 700MB to dl

Maybe am in the minority but I just dont like sci-fi. Ever since I was a kid, all the star wars, battlestar galactica etc just didnt do it for me. I normally watch them just for record purposes.

Seen the new Dr.Who on BBC but I just flip the channel. Am i missing sumthng? wink
RomanceRe: [poll] Would You Prefer to Marry a Virgin? by jogego(m): 1:09pm On Jun 16, 2005
in short, some of the things being spouted here makes me wonder. Vieria put it succintly, this are the kind of things we used to argue about in secondary school. I cant believe matured individuals would be so short sighted. A no mean to abuse anybody oh, but thinking that when a person is not a virgin the person is a devil reeks of arrant discrimination. Left to Seun, the other people as he so refers to us, would probably be locked up so as not to corrupt the virgins.

Abeg people, I repeat again, sex is a God given attribute. And the fact that we enjoy sex is what makes us differnt from most other animals who only induilge in it for procreation.

Deciding to remain a virgin is a personal choice. Nobody forced me to give it up when I did and I certainly didnt have any regrets, if anything, I wished I had been able to do it much MUCH earlier. But that is me. Each to his own.
