Politics › ‘engineers Don’t Blow Up Pipelines,’ Group Tells President by Jokerman(op): 5:02pm On Dec 01, 2016 |
The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) has dismissed President Muhammadu Buhari’s insinuation that engineers might be involved in the pipeline attacks in the Niger Delta. President Buhari made the comment on Tuesday, November 29, after being named the Grand Patron of theNigerian Academy of Engineering(NAE). “If I will go in the negative side, how can an ordinary Nigerian go into the sea, 70Km or more, go down two metres and blow up oil installations?”Buhari asked. “That cannot be an ordinary Nigerian. So, I hope you will appeal to your colleagues to make sure that what we have built, they should safeguard them whether they are working with multinationals or the government,”he added. NSE President,Otis Anyaejireacted to the president’s comments during a press briefing in Abuja on Wednesday, November 30. “It is not engineers that dive into the waters. It is not possible. Our registered engineers are not even involved in all these incidents, such as building collapses and the likes, not to talk of engineers going to take dynamites to blow up pipelines. That cannot happen,”he said according to Punch. Buhari earlier begged Niger Delta militants to stop bombing pipelines in the restive region. “I appeal to the people of the Niger Delta region to embrace peace and focus on agriculture for sustainable economic development and wealth creation,” the president said. “I urge you to take advantage of the huge potential in agriculture and stop the destruction of oil and gas pipelines, which only serve to destroy our ecosystem and economy,”he added. http://pulse.ng/local/buhari-engineers-don-t-blow-up-pipelines-group-tells-president-id5837641.html?utm_campaign=art-buhari-engineers-don-t-blow-up-pipelines-group-tells-president-2016-12-01&utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook |

Politics › I May Not Complete My Tenure As President – Buhari by Jokerman(op): 3:06pm On Dec 01, 2016 |
Tired, fed up, and overwhelmed, over the looming social crisis rearing up its ugly head, as a result of millions of people displaced by Boko Haram, President Muhammadu, on Tuesday, November 29, subtly raised doubts, over the ‘possibility of him completing his four-year term.’ Buhari, made this shocking disclosure at a meeting he had with the World Leader of the Tijjaniya Islamic Movement, Sheikh Sharif Ibn Mohammad, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. This is coming, few weeks after the President said publicly, that he contemplated running away from office, shortly after he was inaugurated as Nigeria’s President, on May 29, 2015. Buhari had said the on-going economic crisis has made him feel as though he is suffering the consequences of someone else’s transgressions. Political Analysts however, have explained that Buhari’s latest statement might be connected to the stress he is passing through at the Presidential Villa. i According to a statement issued by the Presidents Spokesman, Garba Shehu, Buhari on Tuesday, lamented the destruction of public institutions in the North-East, by Boko Haram terrorists. “Government is faced with the problem of repairing schools, health centres, and whole towns. We must repair their schools, and recruit teachers, otherwise they will become tomorrow’s Boko Haram,” Buhari warned. “The President reiterated the importance of justice in the affairs of governance, emphasising that men and women in authority, must show kindness and justice to all the people under them . “In commending the religious group for the prayers they had rendered for three days in Yola, Adamawa State, for the recovery of the economy and peace in the country, the President said that the problem oil production was experiencing in the country, and in the global market, had forced the imperative of agriculture on Nigerians. “We are learning the hard way. The mistake we made, was to abandon agriculture. We came at a time of difficulty the country has never experienced since the Civil War,” he said. Buhari, also requested religious leaders to persuade Nigerians to embrace hard work, endurance, and patience. He assured Nigerians that his administration would not relent in the effort to achieve self-reliance, and security for the nation. http://www.zubbyblog.com/may-not-complete-tenure-president-buhari-shocks-nigerians/ |

valves: Just some tips for those invited for the interview:
1. Pick up your CV, look at it in detail and be sure you can defend everything on it. This is very very very important. The interview will be built around your CV, or at least that is where the questions will start from.
2. Be careful how you answer the questions cos your answers could trigger follow-up questions. This can be to your advantage if you can intelligently direct the course of the interview to your strongest areas.
3. Make sure you know the basics of your discipline. For those in Mechanical, to mention a few area, read briefly (not in-dept) about Pumps (Positive displacement and centrifugal, cavitation, NPSHA, NPSHR (Know the difference between NPSHA and NPSHR), Bernoulli principles), IC engines..etc.
4. You could be asked situational-based questions. The aim of this is to know how you'd react under certain situations. Example: As the head of maintenance team, tell us what you would do when a vital Pump fails??...stuffs like that.. Although there may be more than one correct answer, be sure to keep in mind: Teamwork, Safety and appropriate channel of reporting. For those with experience you can site real situations where you encountered similar challenges and how you resolved it.
5. Prepare for the normal HR questions. Although it is called a technical interview, a HR rep will be in every panel and he/she will ask some questions from the human resource perspective. Again most HR questions can have more than one correct answer, however, your answer should portray you as a person who has the virtues they want. Virtues like: Leadership, Teamwork, discipline, vision, conflict resolution, etc. Questions like: what would you do when you have a great idea that could move the company forward but your boss refutes it? How would you correct your boss when he is wrong and doesn't want your opinion?? At what point should you stop being loyal to your boss?? etc.
6. You have to be bold, confident (or at least hide your fears), maintain good eye contact, elaborate on your answers (cite real examples if possible) and smile and nod gently as often as you can whenever they are talking to you. Most importantly be polite and honest.
7. Finally have a question (or a few) to ask at the end of the interview. You'll be allowed to ask questions if you have any. Asking relevant questions shows interest in the organization (subject of the interview) and your interviewers. Questions to ask can bother on things you don't know about the refinery, or about the structure of the training, or, if you like, a question you weren't able to answer during the interview.
...Wish you guys the best. God bless you bro |
