Hi,

Frequent Travelers: applicants who have at least 1 previous visa from Schengen and/or UK/US/CANADA in the past 5 years.

Here is the Link;

HRprof:
Do they list all the countries to qualify as travel history? I’m talking based on experience with VFS when submitting applications they remove any stamp visa and accept sticker visa which implies that most African countries and Dubai uses stamp on arrival not sticker visa on your passport so they are out of the qualification.
If you have sticker visa on your passport to any country use it as travel history.
My opinion though

However, everyone needs to pay for the VFS FEE which is €40

Hi,
You said you have been denied at the Embassy of Norway twice recently? You meant this year; twice?

You said you have no travel history, it is even almost impossible to be granted a tourist visa, first of, there are no appointments for first time travellers unless of course you want to risk applying as a business traveller.

You shouldn't try to apply to any Schengen state until much later, give it some time.

What was the reasons for the refusal and what documents did you submit?

Hello Everyone,

I want to apply for a visa to France or any Schengen country you'll advice me to. I have no travel history, I've lived my life in Nigeria. Recently got a job where I earn 46k monthly but my account statement over the last 6 months has done transactions over 3m. I've been denied Norway visa twice recently, so I don't know what advice I can get from you all. I really need to hear from the experts here, please be straight with me, I need the pros and cons, I can chest it all
TravelRe: Securing Visa To France, Applying From Nigeria... by josephb(m):
I am so sure that wasn't for me, clearly, that wasn't for me, i do not know you, we are just keeping the thread alive; so people who read through won't think such balance will fly for them, that was why i clearly stated it was because of your three US. Visas which would have done the justice.

(All I will say is don't drag finances with who you don't know.)

It's puzzling how you felt so attacked and strafed by this, anyways, so sorry for speaking much about this, like i said earlier, i was trying to let every other person reading through understands that such balance(s) may not work for everyone.

(As to your other comment, yes people like you take these cities as the pinnacle of travel achievement as if air pollution, congestion and landmarks that have been thoroughly cheapened by mass media are what everyone is looking for on vacation)

This made me laugh, because the only place you (might) have been which i haven't may be Heaven (So sure you haven't been there), i do not know where you have been, but i am on 27 countries and still counting... in the couple of weeks i will make it 31, so that made me laugh real good.

I noticed most of your words are shielding and or self-justifying, i am glad you are aware everyone doesn't look for the same thing during Vacation(s).

Earlier, i apologised for speaking about your finances, i didn't mean it anyway, you could have pointed out where i got it wrong rather than say all of these to me.

(Sometimes it's like people don't think)

I didn't even exchange any theatrical or dramatic words with you, this is the highest insult i have ever received on public forum.

If a place works for you it might not work for others.

Regards,

artofalternativ:
"With a balance less than 300k"

Sometimes it's like people don't think how much do you think two years' rent and house furnishing costs in Lagos? Do you think that's something I could have paid for along with a multi-city flight ticket and other normal expenses if 300k is what's normally in my bank account, or that the embassy is stupid to have approved a two month trip based on 300k alone?

All I will say is don't drag finances with who you don't know.

As to your other comment, yes people like you take these cities as the pinnacle of travel achievement as if air pollution, congestion and landmarks that have been thoroughly cheapened by mass media are what everyone is looking for on vacation. Abi is it buildings and trains we've never seen before? Anyway you're welcome to continue to do so grin but I hope for your own sake that one day you step out of that bubble and go somewhere that will actually wow you. A single day of snorkelling in Tulum was a greater experience than all the cities I've ever stepped in put together.

Yes with a balance less than 300k, she should.

Lol, the whole city smells? as if i most times sat in my hotel rooms?

When you say the whole city smells, have you been to some part in London, Frankfurt, Berlin, New york, etc?

CowbellY:
You visit Paris twice a year. I lived there. I tell you it's shiit when you leave the tourist areas. The whole city smells, it's dirty. Now you're going to argue with me. Because I see in your initial reply you tried to make the op be "grateful" for getting a French visa.

Anyway, I'm not here to ruin the mystic for anyone. By all means if anyone is able to travel let them visit Paris. It's really nice especially when you see it for the first time. Stick to the touristy areas and take lots of pictures. cheesy cheesy cheesy

You haven't really made your point, what makes it Shiit?

Yes i have been to Lille, Strasbourg and Bordeaux.

CowbellY:
Lol but Paris really is a sh*t hahahaha. And I say this as someone that's lived there and even speak French. Heck, my French friends don't even like Paris like that. I'll even say the Eiffel is ugly but I do not like to spoil the mystery for others. Have you been in Paris in February ? Have you gone beyond the tourist areas ? Gone into the city ? I mean the Eiffel makes for good pictures, and there are indeed some colorful spaces but the cost of the city is (as was said earlier) exaggerated.

Lyon, Strasbourg, Marseille other french cities I'll live in before Paris. tongue
TravelRe: Securing Visa To France, Applying From Nigeria... by josephb(m):
Hi,

You made a very little point, there are lot of places to see in Paris, the only constrain is that it is very expensive, i have travelled far and wide, you spoke about Country's Capital not having enough attractions rather businesses, E-commerce and the likes, i am glad to tell you Paris Stands out and it is a combination of all these.

You also spoke about looking for where lot of Parisians go for Vacation so you could go too, i am also delighted to tell you that i have met lot of Europeans in Paris, people from Germany, Netherlands, Luxembourg, US, India holidaying in Paris France and some of them claimed it wasn't their first time.

Furthermore, you spoke about Paris (being) overly rated, i do not reside in Paris neither do i reside in Europe, i visit often, Paris is not overrated, Paris Beats many cities in the World, just take their Metros & Buildings arrangement as a case study.

In addition, just count yourself lucky, the French Visa you got with less than 300k naira without having a sponsorship account (Inviting host) wouldn't have been possible if not for your three American Visas.

France, amongst the Schengen States knows how to return your passport back to you without visas, very good at it, they became soft recently with Frequent travellers.

You just have to figure out what works for you, i will always visit Paris twice a year for just visiting other places for Business and Work.

Regards,

artofalternativ:
I don't understand people that travel to France for tourism and stay in Paris. If you do even a little research you'll see that that city is highly overrated as a travel destination

Not even only France, in most countries the capital and most big cities will be oriented towards government, business, industry, finance, etc (as they should) not holiday-goers. There will still be tourist attractions and entertainment but if you don't know somebody who lives there that can show you around properly, you won't have the best time

If you're travelling solo and you really want to enjoy yourself, look for where the country's own citizens go to for vacation if they can. In this case that would be the south/the French Riviera. Beautiful towns and villages, fresh air, plenty plenty beaches, and the people are friendlier

TravelRe: Securing Visa To France, Applying From Nigeria... by josephb(m):
Hi Bro,

The 12 months visa length you have with 90 days stay is the standard, this means that you can stay in the region 90days within 180 days, this also means that, if you were granted the visa on January 1, 2020 to expire December 31, 2020, you can travel January 1 , 2020 and return
90 days after, wait in your country for 90 days and spend another 90days, then your visa was maximized.

This is what is confusing you, those who are granted lesser number of stays than the 90days cannot enjoy this, i mean stays with 10, 15, 20, 30 days, do not have this privilege, you are to use your number of stays at once if single and for multiple spread it within the limit of your stays let's say 30days, as i have explained earlier, if given 30 days multiple entry visa, either you use it at once, or make two visits with 15days each or 5 visits with 6 days each,

Lool, Nchabuomo, Schengen states are not that nice when it comes to staying in their territories.

Check these tips and links:

The 90-Day Limit
Once you are allowed to enter the Schengen Area — with just your passport or with a short-term visa — you are ONLY permitted to stay for 3 months (90 days) in any 6 month period (180 days.

What happens if I stay more than 90 days in Schengen?
Under the Schengen Area rules of stay for third-country citizens, non-EU citizens entering the territory under the visa-free regime can stay for a maximum of 90 days, for every 180 days. Those who overstay this period – intentionally or unintentionally – may face penalties, including deportation and entry bans.

How does the Schengen 90-day rule work?
What is the Schengen 90/180 rule? Under the terms of Schengen, non-EEA nationals cannot spend more than a total of 90 days within a total period of 180 days without a visa. Furthermore, once you've used up your quota of 90 days, you cannot return to Schengen until 90 more days have passed.

How can I stay in Europe after 90 days?
Ways To Stay In Europe For More Than 90 Days
Split Up Schengen and Non-Schengen Countries.
Working Holiday Visa.
Become a Student at an European University.
Long Term Tourist Visa.
Language Assistant Program.
Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) Jobs.
Self Employment or Freelance Visa.
European Passport.

The 90-Day Limit

Once you are allowed to enter the Schengen Area — with just your passport or with a short-term visa — you are ONLY permitted to stay for 3 months (90 days) in any 6 month period (180 days).

How do you count 180 days in Schengen?
You may only visit the Schengen Area for a total of 90 days within 180 days. The 180 days are counted backwards from your latest entry or exit date. This means it's counted from the first day you entered (if you have not left yet) or the final day you visited the Schengen Area (the date of exit).

How do I calculate 90 days in Schengen?
90/180 Schengen Visa Rule

The 180-day period keeps rolling. Therefore, anytime you wish to enter the Schengen, you just have to count backwards the last 180 days, and see if you have been present in the Schengen for more than 90 days throughout that period.

https://www.schengenvisainfo.com/news/brits-overstaying-eus-90-180-days-rule-to-face-penalties/

I pasted some hints, because you and the OP may be too busy to read them up.

Thanks and Regards,

Nchabuomo:
This is not true. I decided not to reply again to let it rest but...... I hold a 12-month multiple-entry Schengen visa with a 90-day stay. It means I cannot stay in the Schengen area for more than a 90-day stretch it does not mean that I can only stay in the Schengen area for 90 days in a year. The rule to follow is 90/180 and if your stay is not greater than this then you are fine. But OP please do whatever you want.
TravelRe: Securing Visa To France, Applying From Nigeria... by josephb(m):
Hi,

This is not a matter of loving to travel, it's about knowing the basics, i have also been to most continents of the world and still in the game, I know about most countries' rules on Visas, OP may be lucky only if his first entry on the multiple entry visa was 30 days straight, because if he makes attempt to re-enter on same visa, he will be turned back at entry.

If you know about the 90/180 rule, how then is it possible to use 30 days straight, exit, use another 10, 20 days exit and use another 30 days?

This means that OP would have stayed 90 days with just a max stay of 30 days given to him; (this is possible by your explanations), infact do not mislead the OP, let him abide by the rules and that is what i have told him, it took me a long time to understand the Schengen visa rules, if you do not want to go through the Schengen link i sent to this forum, you will learn it in the hard way later on.

Regards,

Nchabuomo:
Hi, a stay is counted as you being inside the country for a given duration if you leave the country it resets. Using the US as an example on a tourist visa you cannot stay longer than 6 months in one stay even if you have a 2-year visa.

You can come for 6 months at a go, leave for one for day and get an exit/entry stamp and come back the following day. You have not broken the terms of your visa.

For OP to break the terms of their visa with regards to duration of stay they would need to enter France and stay in the country for 31 days.

This second highlighted is not our business but OPs business. I personally love travelling, and I do that often; OP could also be that sort of person. I also know people that take breaks from work and travel a whole year.

You are right about the 90/180 though. Your max duration of stay within a 6-month window is 90.

Hi,

Are you saying if OP is issued 30 days number of stays with 90 days expiration, OP can stay 30 days at once, come back to the country, later travel for 10 days and 20days respectively?

That means OP would have stayed 60 days in a given 90 days expiration/duration?

So, in just three months, OP would have visited the Schengen territory for A whole 60 days? Please doing what?

What happens to the 90/180 days rule?

I earlier shared a link with you, did you go through at all?

Regards,

Nchabuomo:
That's not true. If the visa validity is for 30 days and it's multiple entries, then OP can travel and spend 30 days at once and come back, travel for 10 days and come back and later travel for another 20 days. So as long as OPs visa is valid, they can travel and spend any amount of days they want within the validity of the visa and not longer than the approved stay in this case 30 days.

Hi,

You are not permitted to stay beyond 30 days in all trips, even if you plan to go 5 times before your visa expires, you are to spend 6 days at every visit.

Schengen visa rules are strict and logical.

Please check number of stay days as validity is different from visa duration, also please can you share your business cover letter, and list of other documents you submitted?? Thanks

Hi,

Are you saying it's rather acceptable to use the online statements of account?

Can anyone second this?

Regards,

HajiaRai:
In ONE document, I advise you include an SOP (you can google a simple template to say why you're visiting, what you'd do there, for how long, when you'll leave), birth certificates (yours and offsprings'), marriage certificate, family photos, NIN, vaccination card, bank statements (obtain the one-page mystatement from your banks either via online banking/app), hotel and airline reservations, company documents, scans of your visas and annotated passport pages over last the 10 years, etc, etc.

Basically, everything that supports the info filled on your form. Combine all in one document and then compress it to below 2MB. Then you can upload this file as your additional documents.

Compress with an app like ilovepdf.

All the best!

NOTE: the portion on the form which asks if Yu have ever been denied a visa is referring to every country you ever applied to, not only Canada. (I heartily thank nairalanders who brought this to my notice through their comments on this thread).
