Christianity EtcRe: How Do We Understand God - Question For The Christians by joshnes(m): 5:53pm On Nov 12, 2017
It seems that the relevance of atheism is tied to christianity, if ever Seun creates a section on Nairaland for christians (in which you reaffirm your belief in Jesus as the Son of God before joining) and atheist (in which you also state ur belief in a God-less world), believe me atheist on nairaland will lose their relevance. To your question the Holy Spirit is the answer "now we have received, not the spirit which is of God; that we may know the things that are freely given to us of God. Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual" (1Cor 2:12-13). How do you know a person has the Holy Spirit? The sign of speaking in tongues is one way "these signs shall follow them that believe..... they shall speak in new tongues" (Mark 16:17). "....the Holy Ghost fell on them..... for they heard them speak with tongues..." (Acts 10: 44, 46).

correctguy101:
Of course....
And one of the men ended up being Yahweh while his traveling companions the angels that went to rescue Lot and his family.
of course..
the keyword there is "man". God is not a man.... (Numbers 23:19), God is a Spirit..... (John 4:24). But Abraham saw a man and the face of a man, so it is safe to say that Abraham saw the face of a man and not that of God. Secondly spirits (good or evil) can take the form of anything " And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light." (2Corinthians 11:14).
Christianity EtcRe: Abraham Spoke With His God Face To Face (proof) by joshnes(m): 4:11pm On Nov 12, 2017
op the answer to your question is in the passage you quoted "...he lifted up his eyes and saw three MEN..." God is not a man but He can take any form to do what He wants to do. God also became a man as stated "...and the Word was God....and The Word was made flesh and dwelt among men...." (John 1:1, 14). For those saying God reduced His Glory: not true, He simply took the form of a man to discuss with His friend who was a man.

lovingJehovah:
Asking for a 'yes' or 'no' response is not a good way to handle the word of God. One of the reasons is that people would come up with bait questions to clench the Bible's viewpoint in a gorge. Jesus as our exemplary proved a way of reasoning, reference to the written words and illustration to be very effective. You know very well, JW do not dwell on questions in that form but we always try to source the Bible's viewpoint. I have answered these questions before but you seem to be gunning for something and I know the target.

Is the "us" there "God"?
The Bible never said that the "us" was God. The Bible says that God said, "let us".

man himself is a spirit,
The Bible never said the above. Neither does James 2:26 corroborate that.

The Mighty God
Isaiah 9:6 called Jesus mighty God but didn't use the article "The" as above.
Ok.
Christianity EtcRe: Is Jesus God? by joshnes(m): 3:38pm On Nov 11, 2017
lovingJehovah you didn't answer me oh, you explained yourself without even giving an answer. Is the "us" there "God"? God is a spirit, man himself is a spirit, this body is a mere container of the spirit, when the spirit leaves, death occurs (James 2:26). I don't expect an atheist to understand anything about creation, except the Spirit of God helps him to. Do you agree Jesus is The Mighty God? Please answer my questions with a "yes" or with a "no".
Christianity EtcRe: Is Jesus God? by joshnes(m): 9:15am On Nov 11, 2017
lovingJehovah the issue of man being made in God's image is not the bone of contention. My question is purely grammatical, the pronouns "us" and "our" in vs 26 is it the same reference to the noun "God" in vs 27? And in Exodus 7:1, the word there is "god" not "God". The same in Psalm 82:6.
Christianity EtcRe: Is Jesus God? by joshnes(m): 8:55pm On Nov 10, 2017
nice answer lovingJehovah now Jehovah told Jesus let US (Jehovah & Jesus) make man in OUR (Jehovah & Jesus) own image. The next verse i.e. 27. "So GOD created man in his own image, in the image of GOD created he him....." Now my follow up question: If we were created by an "us" who is later referred to as God. We were created in the image of an "OUR" who is later also referred to as God. Will you say man was not created in the image of Jesus & Jehovah later called God. Does that not discredit your theory that Jesus is not God?
Christianity EtcRe: Is Jesus God? by joshnes(m): 1:49pm On Nov 10, 2017
lovingJehovah firstly, thanks for your confidence in my english comprehension, and I also believe that yours is very good too. Based on that belief, I will like to ask you some questions from that Genesis 1:26 you quoted. I will love it if you answer me directly first then you can explain in another post. I want to believe you understand me. The Questions: (1) Who was speaking in Genesis 1:26? (2) In whose image did the speaker say man should be made? (3) Who are the "us" and "our" referred to in Genesis 1:26? Please just give me the answers only because I have follow up questions. Thanks.
Christianity EtcRe: Is Jesus God? by joshnes(m): 11:46am On Nov 10, 2017
lovingJehovah the problem is you are making an error separating Jehovah from Jesus. It is the same person manifested in various forms. Jehovah (God Above Us), Jesus (God With Us) and The Holy Spirit (God In Us). The scripture you quoted in Exodus has no meaning to what you are trying to explain. Jesus dropped His God-nature before coming to earth as a man ( Phil 2:5-11). John puts it better when he said "the Word became flesh". How will you see flesh and die? If the Word became flesh then He must have been something else before becoming flesh. I want you to show me where Jesus said He is not God. But we have scriptures where he said " I and My Father are one" "if you have seen me you have seen the Father". There are scriptures where He is called " THE Mighty God" "THE Everlasting Father". God is One and if Jesus is THE MIGHTY GOD, He is the same person as Jehovah The Almighty. Unless there is more than one God.

plainbibletruth what is "the christian way of life"? Also what happens when a person cannot be brought back to repentance sir? Did you see the criteria in vs 4&5, that's not for baby christians oh. That chapter 6 has nothing to do with sacrifices sir. "For it is impossible .....if they shall fall away to renew them again unto repentance". If you cannot "fellowship with God" (your words) ever again, how are you still a christian. If God cannot hear you and you cannot speak to Him and Him to you that is damnation. An unbeliever is even better because he can have audience with God whenever he is ready to.

Maamin when you want to study the bible, you don't use only one version. So if you will, let me take you on a trip through Philippians 2:6. "Christ was truly God...." (CEV). "...although He existed in the form and unchanging essence of God [as One with Him, possessing the fullness of all the divine attributes - the entire nature of deity]......" (AMP). "Although He was in the form of God and equal with God...." (GWT) "For He who had always been God by nature....." (PHILLIPS). "Who though He was God....." (TLB). "...He had equal status with God...." (MSG). "Who being in very nature God...." (NIV). "Though He was God....." (NLT). Have you seen the equality now? Try and read other translations eh, it will broaden your view (unless you don't believe in other translations). And also ask the Holy Spirit for help.

How did I speak from both sides of my mouth?

Is Jesus God?
Yes!

Is Jesus the same person as Yahweh?
No!

Is Jesus and Yahweh Co-equal?

Is Yahweh greater than Jesus the Son?
Yes!

How many true God do we have?
One true God(the Father)

Is God one?
Yes!

With all the above Q&As, how have I been speaking from both sides of my mouth? huh
You keep tying yourself up and contradicting yourself with 3 in 1 doctrine that you cant even make sense out of and was not taught by Christ and his disciples as well. Reasons why your heart is harden and cannot accept this truth you encountered on this thread today.

There have always been christians like that from the dawn of time. This is not a prophecy
did I say its a prophecy? No, it is not a prophecy, it is to you an explanation to answer your question. What the bible says here is that men will be so much in love with themselves that there will be little or no love to go round to other men like them, not to talk of having enough for God. You will agree with me that selfishness is a prevailing scourge in our time and selflessness is a rare virtue. If someone cannot love the man he sees, how can he love the God he doesn't see? And the scripture is not reffering to christians because as a christian, you must DEFINITELY Love God. But the people in that passage are "lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God".

superhumanist Since you directed your questions at christians, check this out. "You should know this.... that in the last days there will be difficult times. For people will love only themselves and their money. They will be boastful and proud, scoffing at God.... They will consider nothing sacred..... be unloving and unforgiving, they will slander others and have no self-control. They will be cruel and hate what is good. They will betray friends, be reckless, be puffed up with pride, AND LOVE PLEASURE RATHER THAN GOD" (2 Timothy 3:1-4 NLT).
Christianity EtcRe: Have You Ever "Fallen Under The Anointing?" How Did It Feel? by joshnes(m): 6:15pm On Nov 07, 2017
Timijo Your claim that they worshipped Him is misguided. These men came to arrest Jesus, because they felt that His teachings were blasphemy. So how they will worship a God they don't even believe in? So your assertion of worship is wrong. Secondly, you probably don't understand the difference between the presence of God in you and the presence and the power of God in an atmosphere. God is in you, through the Holy Spirit everytime, but when the power of God is in active flow through a person's body there will be physical reactions. Sometimes the flow of such power checks out sicknesses, diseases etc. My point is a person does not need the Holy Spirit in him/her to "fall". eg when an evil spirit in a person recognises the power of God, there is a physical reaction(Mark 5:6), I personally have had encounters like this. Thirdly, Elisha used Elijah's cloth to part river Jordan (2 Kings 2:14). Aprons and handkerchiefs from Paul's body were used to heal the sick and drive evil spirits (Acts 19:12).

Maamin, what you just said is borderline heretic, there are two Gods? There is only one God, He is Jehovah, Jesus and The Holy Spirit. No difference. I don't know if you use other translations but if you do, try reading Philipians 2:6 in MSG, TLB, NLT, AMP,GNT etc and see if Jesus and God are not equal.

Christianity EtcRe: Is Jesus God? by joshnes(m): 10:34pm On Nov 06, 2017
You need to understand the difference between mighty and ALMIGHTY. The difference is huge and in no verse in the Bible was Almighty used to refer to Jesus.
So you agree that Jesus is The Mighty God, that means you agree He is God after all. Jehovah is a divine personality, and He is God, Jesus is a divine personality and He is God too; so says the Bible, He is also called THE Everlasting Father. You should know the use of "THE" means definite the only one. Unless you say there is another father, then Jesus, from this scripture ( Isaiah 9:6) is the Father (John 10:30).
Christianity EtcRe: Is Jesus God? by joshnes(m): 9:21pm On Nov 06, 2017
lovingJehovah, all you have said are post Jesus revelation on earth. What you need to understand is that Jesus was a man on earth, you quoted the scripture yourself, the Word became flesh. Phil 2 talks about Jesus having the form of God, but had to become a servant to save mankind. In that servanthood, he could not be God, He had dropped the form of God and pointed all men to the father (He Himself Being The Father Isa 9:6, John 14:9). He relinquished His Godness but not His sonship. He is THE MIGHTY GOD, THE EVERLASTING FATHER, that is God. Because He took the shame and relinquished His Godness, your view is limited to only Jesus the man, not Jesus THE MIGHTY GOD.

Jesus is called by Isaiah "The Mighty God" and the "Everlasting Father". I don't know about you, but I believe those titles belong to God alone.
